[Q] Moving from i9100 to i9100G (chinese)..common doubts - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI guys,
Due to an undesired dead of my previous i9100, i'm probably switching to a i9100G, which I'll get borrowed from a friend for a few months. It's 100% the chinese model.
After a bit of checking, I've found that it's not an Exynos model. Does this mean i9100G gets official full CM10.1 support? TI chipsets have all the source available, right?
If I want to install ROMs, any CWM ROM for i9100G will work, right? The ones I can't flash will be official samsung roms for i9100G international, right?
Thank you!

YES, its TI-Omap processor on that I9100G for u.And all Custom rom's meant for I9100G will wrk on it

This is great news! I couldn't find the official thread for CM10.1 for the i9100g, could you point it for me? I'm mostly interested in a JB vanilla experience, maybe with a modification to allow the camera to store pics in the SD and also allow mass storage, but that would be it. Oh, and stability...I had so many crashes with my i9100 on CM10.1, and camera/3D issues. Do you have any recommendation?
Thanks a lot!
EDIT: Huh, nevermind, now I found the CM10.1 thread. Still, any good vanilla recommendation besides CM10.1?
EDIT2: Another question better to ask to wiser people: I'm going to receive this 9100g running android stock 2.3.x chinese version, how could I change to international JB bootloader?

Thanks for the info! HOwever my concern isn't about finding an international JB ROM. I think there needs to be some kind of previous flash in order to make it work on a 9100G chinese version. Is this correct?
Thank you!

previous flash of what

Not sure, that's my concern. I believe you can't just odin your way to international stock JB from a chinese stock ROM, you'll need a way to turn your 9100G international (I guess it's related with some kind of tag string in the bootloader or similar).

Can I root + flash rom to Galaxy S II LTE I9210 ?

Is it possible to treat the I9210 just like the I9100, and root , flash cm9/10 into it?
I'm not a S II user, I use galaxy note, but planning to get a small one, and the I9210 is one of my preference.

If you are asking if it is possible to flash the CM9/10 ROM for the I9100 on to the I9210 the answer is no.
If you are asking if it is possible to flash CM9/10 on to the I9210 or I9210T the short answer is yes, there is info for the international version (I9210) in the link therethere provided for you, if you are after one for the I9210T (Telstra Australia 4G version) (I notice you are from Australia ) it is a modified version of the Skyrocket or I727 ROM (not sure which) and has the custom kernel already in it and you can check the thread on it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1593061.
There are links in there for CM9 and 10, and also ported versions of Sky ICS and Embryo 5.0/5.1 which are based on TouchWiz (you need to also flash the custom-made Dreamkernel [thanks to Tallustus] after you flash the ROM for SkyICS and Embryo - Not needed for CM9/10 though).
Hope this helps

All i know is that there isnt a dedicated rom for i9210.
You can use the roms avaiable for Skyrocket one, but my experience is that is too buggy. No keys working (some workarounds for this are avaible), issues on 4G, camera, etc.
The phones are slighty different so...

Galaxy note Lte Model: N7005 ( Singapore User )

Hi, I am opening this sub-forum for N7005 variant as its a closer relative to I717 than the international N7000 note.
So far, as read and tried from other earlier posts, I managed to root, flash CWM, flash TWRP and flashing of various roms from this I717 Forum without any issue, yet. No changing of modems. So far, no issue with basebands so 4g still works great.
Roms I have tried, the original Paranoid Android and the Cookies & Cream. Both are great roms.
Hope that the Mod dun close me down on here.
Cheers!

Are you trying to say that you had use the same firmware to root your lte note using i717?
yup..
Followed this method.. TWRP same as I717.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-i717-roms/how-to-root-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-icsgingerbreadeasiest-method/
Original thread that I read was from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876490&page=2
This is a good thread. I have been trying to find the N7005 all over google and got very a little and mostly, 'irrelevant' results. I believe the note LTE might be a different from the N7000.
Would also like to know if you already have successfully installed the I717 custom ROM on your N7005?
Yes.
I am starting to believe ours have the exact same hardware as I717. It just carry a different model no because of the different baseband.
I have tried ( and successfully flashed ) the original Panaroid Android, the Cookies & Cream, Unofficial CM10 and Liquid Jelly. and also a kernel ( cant remember the name..) All worked well apart from issues with the standard bugs from the current developement of Jellybean. Just be careful not to touch the modem.
There is one little problem though.. I cant really find a convienent way for ours to flash back to stock or remove root if I ever need to send back for official servicing. The only solutions on the web suggest flashing US Carriers specific roms , which does not apply for us.
Well actually, there is a way to go back to official stock.. 2 day ago there was a minor update from samsung. so I flashed and it remove the root. And my firmware now read, Official Samsung.
I haven tried flashing again as I felt that though all the developers are working very very hard for JB and I do really appreciate the efforts , imo its not that stable yet.
Its pretty safe, I tried and they worked. BUT, PLS DO A BACKUP OF YOUR STOCK ROM!! Need any more info, I can share.
Disclamer: I will not be responsible for any kind of damage, bricked or blow ups...
And, U have to understand that if things goes wrong during flashing or any weird errors appears later, the developers are not oblige/not able to help as the I717 stuffs just " happen to work " on our device.

I'm currently still stuck with my SGS, looking at N7005 when my contract expires. You said don't touch the modem, why is that the case? From my understanding you can just flash the baseband back on my SGS, is there an issue if you flash another modem on the N7005? Region issue?
The SGS have great international and local support. Any resources are readily available.
I717 is pretty much confined to the US. Their modems are specific to their baseband's bandwidth. There is no such modem in our region that u can safely flash that is guaranteed to work with our carrier. I know HK they have a forum for N7005 but its all in chinese. I am not too good in that. And, I dun see any real needs to flash the modem as well.
BTW, for local users that have a habit of flashing roms, I wouldnt recommend this model at all. The device is great but zero local support. I have even checked with Official Samsung Singapore and they dun even know if N7005 is getting JB but Original Note N7000 will be and the Note 2 will launch with JB. Go for more sensible options my brother...
I bought this purely because it was cheaper that time. And I traded in my nexus so this phone was basically free.. Then later I realise I will have the flashing "issues"..

I did look at the original note and S3, but what I wanted was larger display and I have a budget so I might not consider Note 2. I wanted to get LTE Note since it supports LTE and it would be a waste if we didn't make use of that.
I did see on starhub website that it states it is upgradeable to JB, but their website is always providing inaccurate information. Thanks for the recommendation, might reconsider. :good:

Can I have the link, please?
The 4g would come in handy for sure. I actually turned that off coz its eating my battery like theres no tmr..
Regards the HK forum, I dun have the link anymore.. ask Google my friend..
I realised the information on our local telco (Starhub) said processor is 1.4 Ghz, but the SHG-I717 is a 1.5 Ghz Scorpion.
Also the firmware stated on Samsung website says it should be ICS instead of GB, where Starhub says its GB and upgradable to JB?
So which is correct??
Look elsewhere for information. Believe the opposite of starhub. The specs they listed belongs to the international note N7000.
Hi dude, can u please show how u did to sucessfully to flash this stock roms to pandroid rom.. thank you in advance

About Galaxy S 3

Hello everybody.
I used to own a Sony Xperia P, too bad it got bricked and I'm looking forward on getting a Galaxy S3 i9300.
Can anyone please tell me about it's support. I mean let's say I want to install CM ROMS, is it widely supported on by the community?
On Xperia P forum we only had CM9 and CM10 is almost a dream to have, if any one could give me a clue about it I really appreciate it
So far I'm interested in building a custom kernel based on Samsung source code (if I got this device)
I'm not into Rom development, was just wondering about CM support for this device in-case I wanted to change the installed ROM.
I appreciate any hint provided
Best Regards.
You could try the search function You Will find that the s3 development community is very vivid. Top of the line development/modding/tweaking and support. You have cm9, cm10 plus lots of different kang projects with great og support

I searched the forum but maybe I wasn't clear enough in my first post.
I don't really care about themes, mods and stuff. I prefer only installing CM roms for a change, I found that CM10 reached Stable, and CM10.1 is in the works from this website: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Just wanted to be sure from users who already on this device just to be sure

[Q] custom kernels for galaxy s3

hi all,
i have recently rooted my device and want to install a custom kernel.
the problem is that I am running the latest firmware for the galaxy s3 in the U.K (I9000XXELLA)(android 4.1.2). and because of this I cant find out what custom kernels are compatible and which aren't. so it would be a great help if you could help me by...
1. is the ninphetamin3 kernel compatible with my firmware
2. what other kernels are there that are compatible which allows you to over clock the CPU of your device
thanks in advance for any answers and suggestions you may post and looking forward to hearing from you .

Uhm, what? I don't see that problem at all. You have an I9300? All the kernels from this forum section are compatible. Some of them are for samsung-based ROMs like yours, some for CM-based. It says it in the first post.
thanks but what i meant was what kernels are compatible with my firmware because some are only for ICS and I want to know what kernels are compatible on my firmware and I am not sure if the ninphetamin3 kernel is compatible with jelly bean.
All current kernels are compatible with JB AFAIK. Nimphetamine is outdated and doesn't support JB.
Siyah or Perseus would be real good bets...

[Q] Only S2 (Intl.)-ROMs on the S2 (Intl.)?

Hey guys
I am using this ROM on my S2 (Intl.) and yeah it has some bugs, but thats okay, but today i saw in the CM download section that there is CM11 available for the S2, butonly for the T-Mobile version.
So my question is, whether I can flash the T-Mobile version or if that would brick my phone. And if I can't, can I flash ROMs from the Note 2 for example? I have one S2 in use and one only for testing ROMs, so i could copy a stable S2 ROM on my sd and then copy the CM11 T-Mobile, too. Then I'll flash the T-Mobile ROM and if that wouldn't work i can boot in recovery, clear all data and flash the stable version? Or is thisimpossible and I am just a silly dude?
thanks for answering
Merry Christmas!
Do not flash non-I9100 firmware on the I9100, yes, there's a fair chance you'll brick your phone if you do.
I suggest you learn 'the basics' given your question (read the guides/tutorials stickied in the General section for starters), 'messing' with your phone in any way (particularly if it involves flashing, even with CWM) is risky without knowing them.
no no I know the basics including that you should not flash not appropriate firmwares, it was just a question, but okay, I understood, so I#ll keep waiting until an official version of CM11 for the normal S2 will be uploaded

Exactly. I know it seems a madness that the Galaxy S2 has not yet been updated (it is enough to think that the Galaxy S already has the CM11), but more of install the CM11 not journal cannot we do.
P. S: Merry Christmas
