[Q] Stock ruu - HTC EVO 3D

i need the stock 2.89 ruu. The fourm says i need ten post to access the thread. Is there a way around this or do I need to make 9 more useless post. I never found the need to make as I have always found the answers to my questions. I want to s-off my original evo 3d. I will be the third evo I have s-offed.

Shipped H-Boot

The unroot guides in the DEV section are for those with a non-ENG H-boot. Since I did the original root method I am on the ENG H-Boot and from reading posts in the DEV Guide you need to be on a shipped H-Boot to unroot. Is this correct and how do you get back to the shipped H-Boot?
If this does not belong here, I apologize and feel free to move it to the appropriate forum.

Search for threads started by Football in this forum. You will find the RUU for the sprint shipped ROMs. Run one and you will get a shipped HBOOT. If it's 2.08.651.2, you will get HBOOT 1.50 (the one that only htc's unlock method works for). You will still be S-off and can still flash anything you want at this point. You might be able to turn the s-flag on, but I've never done it.

[q] htc dev unlocked & s-on

Dear fellow XDA members,
I am in need of some assistance. I just got my HTC EVO VIEW 4G and unfortunately, I accidentally upgraded to Android 3.2 HoneyComb without doing the Revolutionary S-OFF, so currently I did an HTC Dev unlock on my View but it still says "EXPRESS PVT SHIP S-ON RL" and it also updated the "HBOOT-1.14.0005." I tried checking out Revolutionary website and it does not support HBOOT-1.14.0005, so I was wondering what can I do? Do I need S-OFF for anything? I currently have Clockwork Mod installed on my View but it still has S-ON so I was scared about flashing ROMS. I am trying to flash Desensed 1.5 but is scared that I need S-OFF to do so... Can anyone chime in to help me please...
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
PS: BTW, I been searching and reading and rereading.... I just don't understand..
1) You'll need to downgrade to GB
2) you'll then need to run revolutionary for S-OFF
3) you can then re-upgrade to HC S-OFF

I don't think there is anything in the tool, that globatron hasn't already written a guide for on the Flyer. And none of them are hard to do. Anything particular you are trying to do?
ive done the OTA update, and then unlocked using HTC-DEV method becasue my HBOOT is 11.11.0011 and revolutionary didnt liost that hboot as being compatible. Ive been able to install a revolutionary Clockwork mod nad then went ahead and flashed LeeDriods ROM. But now it just starts up with the R2D2 sounds, boots a little and restarts.
Ive been reading and I think it either needs to flashed from fastboot or need to downgrade to GB and relevant hboot.
Also even though I have unlocked the bootlaoder from htc-dev it still says "s-on"?
I'm in the same boat. My flyer is
Hboot 1.11.001
OTA to HC
Unlocked the bootloader using HTC method
Load CW recovery.
Can I just follow the directions to down grade?
sorry to ask people for help again.. but there are alot of guides for unlocking/downgrading/flashing etc. could someone just point me in the right direction of one guide that is applicable to my particular case?
thank you.

I don't know why people keep coming on here and asking why they still have S-On after HTC Unlock. Its never been stated that HTC Unlock gets you S-Off, it just gives you an unlocked bootloader, which is not the same thing.
If you want real S-Off, downgrade and root using globatron's guide:
htthttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307759p://
Then you can upgrade back to HC if you want using the following guide (also by globatron, becuase he's the man). You will also need to have the HC Hboot if you want to flash a HC custom ROM, which is also described in the following guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
If you want to flash a custom ROM without getting S-Off, from my understanding you can do so using fastboot. But I haven't seen any step-by-step guide. You might start reading here:

It might be just me but I don't see anything in these guides with anything to downgrade the hboot on 16gb Flyer to gain compatibility with Rev. root method. It is not for me personally but seems others here are having that issue. With those newer hboot versions is there even anything that can be done at this time?
My understanding is that when unlocked with HTC dev you can flash recovery then adb push gb hboot while in recovery then run appropriate gb ruu. Once on gb rev s off then update to hc s off

Or are there still GB Hboot versions not supported by Revolutionary?

Rooting Questions

Ok so i have searched the forums and there seems to be loads of different answers and ways. Here is what i want for my GSM 3D
1. If possible i would like to keep the stock ROM
2. S-OFF if i even need S-OFF, all i want to do is use Fasterfix and Adfree
So whats the most up to date guide on doing this? there seems to be loads that are all different
Im not TOO MUCH of a n00b, S-OFF'd rooted etc my Desire.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
As stated in multiple threads and stickies, it all depends on what hboot your phone is.
And yes, what you want to do is simple. If you don't want to flash rom's or anything, you just need root access and Superuser.
Right ill find that out!
And you sure for adfree? i had to have S-OFF for that on my desire so will i not for this too?
Thanks for the help
HBOOT 1.49.0018
Will try have a go now!
This is correct yes?

What about for S-OFF?
For S-Off, I would recommend reading up on the HTC Unlock method. It is pretty simple and you become an Online Dev for HTC in the process Wish you luck!

[Q] Stock View 4G HC S-on to S-off and rooted

Apologies for any ignorance here as I'm a newbie. I've been monitoring the various threads in this forum but can't seem to find a step by step guide on what I need to do for the following.
I have a HTC View 4G stock tablet that was flashed to HC. I'd really like to find a way to remove the Sprint apps and root the tablet so I can install a custom ROM.
I get the sense I need to find a way to downgrade to GB, root, S-Off and then apply custom ROM's and uninstall Sprint apps -- is that correct ? I was able to figure out my H-BOOT version is 1.14.0005 and that my tablet shows the following:
*** LOCKED ***
EXPRESS PVT SHIP S-ON RL
Since I've done nothing to modify the View system yet, I'm not sure of the specific steps I need to take to accomplish this.
Kind regards
Rich
first, downgrade to gingerbread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414137
then, get S-off, root and recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194709
next, upgrade to HC s=off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409306
now download custom rom and flash, i suggest Desensed 2.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416868
READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY AND VERIFY/DOUBLE CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT MATCHES THE INSTRUCTIONS. I CANT STRESS ENOUGH UNLESS YOU WANT TO BRICK YOUR DEVICE
also, please dont make a new thread if you have more questions later on. try to post them on this thread because your questions/problem have probably been asked and answered before

you might actually be able to do everything with this tool but you definitely need to install the HTC drivers and get revolutionary recovery separately
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418258
i recommend rooting it the long way so you can get used to and comfortable with different rooting methods
Thanks
Thanks for the prompt response. I will step through these steps and document what I did and then re-post.
Wyldkard.....I'm new to the View. My Vibrant was basically a one click root. From there you could flash almost anything be it GB, HC or ICS. This s-on/ off and hboot stuff is definitely more involved. Can you point me to a thread that explains rooting the hard way. I'd like to read just to learn. I'm s-off now via revolutionary but I think they made it too easy for me. LOL

How the hell do I root / flash this thing?

I'm looking around, and I found a One Click root that didn't work, and nothing about how to get S-OFF and flash.
What am I missing here?
Obvious troll is obvious?

Well, your missing putting this question in Q&A for one thing, Look at my signature it has a link that says[ROOT] click that to learn more, If you want S-OFF the one that says [S-OFF]. Searching always helps, thats why theres a Search button at the top right of your browser. I f you want to find somethingYouclick where it says "Search" That is all,,,
Go into the Original Android Development section?
1-click: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690919
S-off: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737123
etc
etc
etc
This worked for me:
RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter (Doesn't give S-OFF but I'm on hboot 1.15)
If you're fortunate enough to have HBOOT 1.12, then I'd recommend using the LazyPanda S-OFF method.
If not, then you really can't go wrong with regaw_leinad's EVO 4G LTE Rooter.
Make sure you follow their instructions carefully.
(Just nicely saying this. I flagged a moderator to have your your post moved to Q&A. Development related threads go in this section)
~co~
Looking around I see posts like this everyday. Only hboot 1.12 has soff, hboot 1.15 and up don't, only hboot 1.12 allowed you to flash normally, hboot 1.15 and up require that you flash a kernel separately or that you flash a rom with that has the work around by xhausx. Read through q&a and read through development for what you need
