I have one...
I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol

I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...

On every device I have ever had a defender series I just cut away the plastic shield it sucks one I do that I toss on my own screen protector and enjoy!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow
Keep in mind that there are two different varieties of the defender floating around for the s3 it seems.

Did you purchase directly from Otterbox? I purchased at local att store. After4 days, no better. Thinking of calling Otterbox and complaining.

I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

I've got the otterbox commuter, it's good protection without being to massive.
I went with the Defender case. I removed the screen from the case and installed one of the Xtreme guard screens on the phone and am very happy with the look and feel of the phone. It may seem like a bit much, but after breaking my first phone in under 8 hrs - this was the best fit for me

How are the buttons on the commuter? I had the one for the galaxy s3 and they were impossible to press half the time. Are these any better or are they super stiff as well?

Diztronic TPU. I cannot speak highly enough of this case. Cheap, sturdy, doesn't add too much weight/size and, as a bonus, it looks great.

Volume buttons work great, power is stiff as hell. Thinking about cutting the top to have direct access to the power button.

That's odd. I have a mucheasier time pressing the buttons with the case on rather than naked. I am loving my commuter. I don't exactly care for the way the screen protector is smaller than the face of the phone, but i guess that is about the only way to do it with the curved edges. I can honestly say that I hate the curved edges after trying 2 other screen protects and they will not stick.
I went with just the 3 pack of cheap screen protectors -- they do the job and you can easily replace them, and a flexible silicone case (the thin ones) because they absorb impact better than a hard case. It keeps the phone low profile and protected.

I will probably stick it out with the diztronic then. I figured that it might have been improved but it doesn't sound like it. Thanks.
Actually ordered the diztronic. Otterbox looks nice but kinda salty fir my taste at least right now.

One thing I quickly discovered about Diztronic is that the opening around headphone port is pretty small. The chord I use in my car doesn't fit but smaller headphone and computer speaker jacks do. I will try my full-size headphones today at the office.
I have read several reviews of extended batteries for the Note. So putting the tech specs aside, how comfortable is it to carry around the already big Note with an extended battery case? Are there any brands that are better than others in this regard?
I currently carry around an extra battery, but I always forget to charge the extra battery on days when I end up swapping them out. I was thinking about purchasing an extended battery/case, but I don't want to be carrying around a brick either. I spend a lot of time traveling where Iike to have my phone easily accesible in my front pants pocket.

I find pros and cons. The extended battery does make it easier to grip. But of course its harder to put in a pocket.
I use one all the time.

I carry my phone in my front pants pocket without issue. It's s little tight in some jeans with smaller pockets, but overall it works just fine with extended battery. Biggest issue I've had is lack of a case so while I drop it rarely, when I do it comes apart into three pieces(phone, battery, back case)

I think it's fine. Because the phone is already big, the extra "hump" is not too hard to get used to.
I got a metal bumper case to work with the extended battery. I posted a picture in the other thread for 5200mah battery. If you drop it, it will still come apart most of the time.
I did use a cheap TPU case and cut out a hole for the hump and that works out fine as well. This will keep the phone together better if you drop it, but it was a really cheap TPU case, so I ditched it eventually for the bumper, which looked alot slicker.

I just took a look at that thread. I think I might get one to have on extended travel days. It does look kind of goofy IMO, but it will serve a purpose. Thanks for the response.

Yes... I have grown used to the look, but when I take out my phone in public, people do ask "what the heck is that?"
I don't think it is as ridiculous, but people do. But, it is nice when you are on the road. I lasted almost 3 full days in the mountains with the extended and stock batteries.

yes, no problems with the case for everyday use, however you might find using the phone with one hand isn't as easy anymore.
I consider myself pretty good with one hand on the Note, but the extended battery makes that a real challenge.

I have one in 24/7. I keep it in my shirt pocket, run a ranch, no extra case/cover. I'm on 4g only, no real internet out here where the bear does his business.
Doesn't fall out, get too wet from sweat, or broken... I'm due an upgrade but waiting on note 3 or price drop on note 2 and an extended battery for it.
if I just used the OEM battery it'd be dead in 3 hours or less since my data is on all the time...

Yea my bit is dull, as you cut into plastic theres a small portion that bubbled up, so I switched to the sander bit to smoothen it out but when you sand plastic it changes from the original color..no biggie for me just a holster thays gonna be under my shirt or tool belt.

I have always done this since my first Defender on the iphone4. It just pops right out.
As for the mod in the OP it's a good idea but yes I'd recommend cutting only the area where the camera and pen are. You can practice with an 1/8" drill bit on a Dremel at mid speed. Go slow and don't use too fast a spindle speed or the plastic will melt. Even if it does ball up a bit it's easy to remove. Once you drill the initial hole closer to the middle of your target area you can cut your way to the outlined area with ease. When a more specialized cutting device isn't available, this works great. This is the principle that the Rotozip uses.
Heyo peeps
So here's the deal.
Battery life is pretty good, no question. But I finally got the itch to start hammering this phone for mega hours.
So first I got the Zero Lemon of course.
Battery is crazy awesome. No question. The case is... Almost acceptable. I love the overall design and protection. I hate the feel of the rubber outside, the screen protector (which I keep on for added Peace of mind and water resistance), and OMG the port covers.... So awful. The buttons are pretty terrible too.
And of course, the phone is insanely bulky and unmanageable now, but I knew that.
I LOVE my wife's otterbox defender on her stock note 3. The first thing I tried was to see if I could mod a defender to fit the zl battery. As I'm sure yall know, the answer is hell no.
So what I'm wondering is if there is some other REAL extended battery that might fit into some modded defender or similar case.
I've got one of those eBay "4500 mah" batteries that is the same size as stock. But since it weighs less than the stock battery, I'm certain the battery life is gonna suck. I'll be trying it this weekend for giggles. But Yea. When I sat REAL extended I mean one of those hyperion or anker 6400mah jobbies. Or the zl, natch.
So, any input? To recap, I'm looking for a battery that can fit a modded case that is good, preferably a otterbox defender, or similar. Or I'm looking for a GOOD case that is known to fit the zl, hyperion, anker, whatever.
Thanks!
