[Q] - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Mt8s s2 stuck on yellow triangle, he don't know what version was on it originally, I tried the latest version BTU from sam firmware via Odin but its still the same, Ive looked at this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146532 and tried downloading the files from the link but I got some kind of installer loading all sorts of crap onto my computer, got it all uninstalled again and found the file I777UCKH7-CL503881-Parts-NoBL.7z to try but when I unzip it I get 5 files 3 ending with img, one with bin and another called zimage that Odin doesn't recognize.
Any hope for this phone, please advise what should be my next step.
Thanx

As stated above I tried the latest version BTU from sam firmware via Odin ( CODE_I9100XXLSJ.tar ) (
CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1.tar ) ( MODEM_I9100XXLS6.tar ) is how it extracts and I flashed them with odin but still the same and wont boot to recovery, just boots to download mode.
still stuck on yellow triangle after flashing latest but it wasn't one package as above flashed code = pda modem = phone csc in csc in Odin. ?

Can you point me to a full rom (single file) to flash via Odin I could try, as stated every version I have flashed it flashes with no errors but immediately boots back to yellow triangle cannot get it into recovery mode either to try to wipe the cahe and factory reset.
Am using a Jig to get it into Factory/Download mode which shows
Factory Mode
Product Code GT-i9100

Current Binary Custom
Please Advise, Thank you.

Jb leak is a full ROM, which is what you need right now.
Make sure it's an I9100.
Get a couple of SII genuine cables.
Get 3 versions of Odin.
Reinstall kies.
Try all usb ports.
Try another pc/laptop.
Disable antivirus.

Big problem...
After flashing 9.3 on SGS2 without wiping i rebooted in cwm and flashed siyah 2.6.2.
After that the phone stuck on the omega logo and did not boot.
I rebooted into CWM wiped cache/davlic etc and i tryed to reflash the 9.3 and the siyah.
After that i tryed to flash the kernel but the phone restarted itself and since then it doesnt boot at all neither in CWM or into android.
Only in download mode and it's not recognized by ODIN or kies.

1) Get the right CF Kernel from the Chainfire kernel thread in the Android Original Development Thread. Extract the zip to get a TAR and extract the TAR to get a z-image file. Also download the corresponding original stock kernel from the Intratech thread in the same section.
2) Flash the TAR in PDA using Odin. Do not click repartition. This lets you boot with with functional Root and CWM.
3) If you want to get rid of the yellow triangle, then load the z-image file into /sdcard. Reboot into download mode and use Odin to flash the stock kernel (again in the PDA without repartition). After that, go to the CWM app, choose flash kernel and locate the zimage and proceed.
NB: You can read Chainfire and Intratechs threads in case I was vague somewhere.
Thanks mate but i already know and did all these.
The thing is what i do in order to bring my phone back to life.
What is 9.3 you flashed ???
Kies: The device is not responding.
Why are you using KIES to flash a rom is it open and preventing Odin from working .
jje
Are you saying Odin does it doesn't recognise your phone?
In the past Odin flashing has gone wrong and can usually be fixed by a PC reboot or rebooting into download mode again.

9.3 = Omega 9.3 rom.
No i'm not.
I installed kies to see if the phone is recognized. After i realized that it's not i uninstalled the kies.
The thing is that odin sees my phone but stacks at <ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!
With 115 posts no reason for you not to ask in the rom thread as its possible its rom specific .
Dont think it is but worth a try .
Choices try Odin on another PC .
Take phone to service centre and hope it is not an expensive repair .
Buy a JTag machine .
jje
Just tryed odin on another pc and i got the same result...
i had the same problem and tried flashing the PIT thinking it might do something, but ended up fully bricked. couldnt power on anymore. only way is to JTAG it now, if odin cant flash it.
read this thread maybe it can help

Were you flashing using Odin without Kies installed? As far as i'm aware Kies must be installed but not running to flash with Odin.

What was the firmware you were trying to flash?
Things to consider:
1. Make sure its the G version firmware
2. Maybe a bad download. Try downloading it again. Also verify the md5 sum.

India Galaxy S2 soft brick while JB OTA firmware update. PLEASE HELP!!
Recently i got a notification for OTA firmware for my I9100G. I guess it was JB update. After the update phone refused to start, it went into boot loop. I am trying to flash the stock rom ICS for India (I9100GXXLPQ_I9100GODDLP7_I9100GDDLP5_HOME.tar.md5) using Odin .
1. Initially I tried to flash custom ICS Kernel (SuperICS_i9100g_v1.0.2.tar) , then tried to wipe cache and wipe data/factory reset and wipe Dalvik cache. It says error mounting /sdcard/android.secure! .
2. After that I tried to flash the Stock firmware mentioned above after going into download mode but Odin fails every time after factoryfs.img or hidden.img

[SOLVED] Can't flash stock/Bootloader/Modem with ODIN NAND Write Start Fail

[SOLVED]EDIT:
Here is how I solved the problem. I a xda thread I found a similar problem and someone claiming this:
-Downloaded stock firmware and extracted files
-removed .md5 off the end and extracted it again
-inside should be boot.img cache.img recovery.img system.img etc.
-used Unified Android Toolkit to create individual flashable files of each file
-flashed them in the order they came
-everything passed

So I tried it, and it worked till the last .tar with the system.img in it. Here I had to switch USB cables from the original Samsung one to my Usb cabel from the Amazon Fire Stick. And then it also worked. For the flashing I used Odin 3.10.6 and the firmware was the G925FXXU2COH2 one. I deactivated Auto-reboot in Odin and after flashing each file I manually restarted the phone to Download mode by holding Vol down + Home + Power.
/[SOLVED]Edit
Hey guys,
this is my current situation: Phone is stuck in cyan screen with "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software". I can't use Smart Switch because I was rooted and on "XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition 2.3" when the phone bricked. ODIN does recognize the phone. I used Odin3 v3.10.6.
What I did to brick it:
- Downloaded a firmware and tried to flash it to unroot the phone, following that guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/how-to-unroot-unbrick-galaxy-s6-t3110608
Model SM-G925F

What I tried to fix the problem:
- Flashing TWRP form http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...p-recovery-2-8-7-1-g925f-android-5-1-t3144866 --> Fails
-Flashing G925FXXU2COH2 stock firmware and G925FXXU2BOGB_G925FDBT2BOG8_DBT (from http://stockroms.net/file/GalaxyS6Edge/SM-G925F/Germany/5.1.1/G925FXXU2BOGB_G925FDBT2BOG8_DBT.zip)
- After finding this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/help/guide-s6-edge-unbrick-guide-t3187655 and some other threads I removed the hidden.img from both firmwares I already tried, repacked them and flashed with ODIN.

Sooo.. according to the guide I mentionied I would need to flash pit and Stock firmware at once like this:
1) Get your device to download mode by using this combo "VolumeDown-Home-Power"
2) Open an UP TO DATE ODIN.
3) Find the corresponding .PIT file for your S6 EDGE.
4) Find the corresponding stock rom for your S6 EDGE.
5) Then put them into odin CORRECTLY. Rom to "AP", .pit to PIT
6) Make Sure these are checked: "Re-partition","NAND all erase"
7) Plug your device in and then press start.

But I am not sure if this is the right thing to do. Also I don't know which of the provided pits for the SM-G925F I am supposed to use? http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...925-pit-files-multi-thread-download-t3171636/ Whats the difference between them? Aaaand I'm still not sure which firmware I should be flashing
I would really appriciate your help..
Small update:
Found this suggestion on reddit and tried it
If you've tried to flash firmware off of Sammobile, and had your heart stop when the flash fails, fear no longer.
To fix the soft brick:
Open the firmware file in winrar and extract the hidden.img. Rename it as hidden.img.tar.
Load the new file into the PDA tab, and flash.
When the phone boots, the displayed image will be touchwiz teal, there will be a little android and GALAXY spelt above it. Don't freak out.
Give it a minute and it should boot.

Well I again flashed the hidden.img.tar, then I could get in TWRP. I did restore on old backup and did a factory reset. The phone booted! So I dicided to try the unroot one more time. I was on kind a funny Baseband-Version so I decided to flash COH2 Bootloader and Modem, but Odin right after starting the NAND write and I was stuck on the Error massage from the beginning..
Flashed hidden.img.tar and the phone booted normaly.
What is going on? What do I need to flash or do to get back to stock?
In the device information I now have:
Modell: SM-G925F
Android-Version: 5.1.1
Basebandversion: G925FXXU2BOGE
Kernel-version: 3,10,61-Alex-V_1.2
Buildnumber: XtreStoLite Deo Mod v.2.3 - XXU2COH2
It is really kind of mixed up and I have know idea why I can't just flash with ODIN.
Worked for me but with very minor tweak
You guys are awesome! Thanks to you, I got myself out of a pickle.
I had softbricked my phone and I was stuck with a NAND Write error in ODIN with my G920F (Samsung Galaxy S6). Here's what I did:
Removed ".md5" at the end of "G920FXXU2BOFL_G920FOJV2BOEE_G920FXXU2BOFJ_HOME.tar.md5" (so file ends with ".tar").
Used 7zip to unpack.
Using Unified Android Toolkit, repacked each resulting ".img" file into separate ".tar" files (within Unified Android Toolkit, select 99 then 8, then 1 then 3 (auto-detect images). Resulting ".tar" files will be stored in the OUTPUT folder.
Using ODIN 3.10.7, flashed each ".tar" file, one by one, in the order that they were shown in 7zip. It's a very good idea to uncheck "Auto Reboot". After each flashing, vol down+home+button, and vol up again. Repeat until the last file. File flashing order was as follows:
- boot
- recovery
- system
- cache
- hidden
In the end, I rebooted the phone normally. Took about 6 or 7 minutes. An unusual green android screen was displayed, followed by another saying "erasing"... eventually, the phone rebooted as if it had been factory reset. Now going through the tedious process of reinstalling all of my apps.

well, im kinda a noob at this stuff so im not sure, but if you meant what firmware then its 5.1.1,
add me on skype if you would like to help me more please "@[email protected]"
I think you have try to flash a Rom with old bootloader, thats why odin fail at Sboot part (bootloader). Try to dl and flash last Rom for your device (at least COI9).
Sorry, no Skype user...

Ok.
I think you have to install last UK COI9.
Here is link to dl on Sammobile.com. If you havn't an account, register for free to dl.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/57658/G925FXXU3COI9_G925FBTU3COJ1_BTU/
Then, extract firmware zip with 7zip on your Desktop.
If there is only one file, flash it into AP
If there is 4 files :
BL file in BL
AP file in AP
CSC file in CSC
Modem file in CP
Let me know

* Extract Rom file.tar.md5 from Rom zip on your desktop with Winrar
* Open Odin as administrator
* In case of one single AP file, clic on AP into Odin and add AP file to load in
* Wait until odin load AP file
* Start in Download mode
* Plug usb cable
* When you see a number under COM into odin is add, clic on Start

Problems with Odin, Rom Stock and PIT files.

hey guys,
I don't have a recovery mode (getting white screen instead). only download mode.
I downloaded the correct firmware and tried install and it failed (in system.img) and requested a PIT file.
I downloaded the PIT file and it got failed again.. I tried to install this twrp thing and still not good.
This is what I get when I try to install pit + twrp (auto reboot, re-partition and f. reset time are checked):
<ID:0/007> Added!!
<ID:0/007> Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)..
<ID:0/007> File analysis..
<ID:0/007> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/007> Initialzation..
<ID:0/007> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/007> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/007> Get PIT for mapping..
Edit:
I've tried with the nand checked aswell and got this:
<ID:0/007> Added!!
<ID:0/007> Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)..
<ID:0/007> File analysis..
<ID:0/007> SetupConnection..

<ID:0/007> Erase...
<ID:0/007>
<ID:0/007> Complete(Write) operation failed.

Any idea?
Thank you guys!
Have you tried different cables, are you using a USB port on the motherboard?.
The drivers work because it sees the phone in odin.
Are you loading the stock firmware AND the pit file at the same time?.
If you can answer yes to all of those then it's a bin job.
I don't recommend trying to flash a pit and TWRP at the same time. I only recommend using a pit file, when necessary, with stock firmware.

Yes, tried a different cable.

Yes it's a stock, and tried separately and didn't work.

I tried to use only the pit but all i get is that error. It didn't matter if I used a TWRP / stock firmware.
Don't flash using only the pit file.
Flash twrp or stock ROM without pit.
If flashing the stock firmware on its own fails or it says about a pit partition in odin then load both the pit file and the stock firmware at the same time. If it fails to flash them you can safely assume the phone has a corrupt nand and is dead.
You can also try flashing older versions of the recovery, twrp or cwmr. The last official cwmr was the most stable for me and helped me recover from a f*ked twrp that caused the e:failed to mount errors.
If it can take a flash of any type it might be recoverable. Just because it fails a flash doesn't mean its dead dead, just borked beyond the usual capability of the average Joe bloggs..
I would recommend, just for the fact it can't get any worse than what it already is, find the stock firmware in separate files along with the last official cwmr and flash them one by one and when you get the fail errors you'll know exactly what part of the nand is faulty. Basically just mess with it until you kill it. If it jumps into life in the meanwhile then you got lucky and should put a ticket on the lottery!.
Hope this helps inspire a bit of confidence!.
