I've been running the latest Revolt ROM for a few days on my I717. It has been running flawlessly but last night my display started staying on and the notification lights lit and won't turn off. Pushing the power button doesn't turn the screen off like it used to, but the power button does work to turn off or reboot the phone. I've checked all the settings that I know of and everything seems fine. Any ideas? Needless to say, my phone has to stay plugged in to a power source to stay on.
Rebooting doesn't clear the problem. Screen doesn't lock either.
Wipe caches in recovery
If problem persists, wipe data/factory reset.
Still there, redownload, rewipe and then flash the Rom again.

Wiping cache didn't fix the problem. If I have to re-flash the ROM, it won't be until tonight. Thanks for the help.
Also make sure you don't have stay awake in the quick setting tiles on I accidentally leave mine on sometimes.

Earlier this evening, my phone was working fine.
Just installed a new lockscreen theme, everything was fine.
[Running 1.9.16]
Well, I noticed that it started to become very laggy. Things that were lagging started force-closing.
Themes, Messaging, Launcher7. None of these things ever lagged and I've had the ROM installed since the 16th. With no problems.
I don't know why all of a sudden it's started to mess up.
Well, now it's becoming a much worse problem.
First of all, I can't even power off, reboot or anything. I hold the power button down, nothing pops up, I release it and it just turns the screen off.
I wake the phone and I'm not even prompted with a lockscreen. It's just, where I left off.
I do a few battery-pulls and when it loads up, the same problems persist.
I can't do anything. Literally.
Well, I'm finally able to mount my SD card to my computer. All my files and such are still there.
I download 1.9.30 for the Fascinate and put it on my card, load the card up and battery-pull (since that's the only way I can get into recovery, powering it back on with volume and power buttons), wipe my cache, dalvik cache, etc.
Install zip from SDcard, choose the zip, apply and it sits there for a second and reboots, but it reboots to the 1.9.16 that I had installed already...and the problems continue.
What do I need to do? This sucks.
Also, I did manage to backup everything; Settings, contacts, mms, my apps, etc.
Ur not supposed to do recovery 3 finger on miui. reflash cwm4 fixed cm7. Three finger it then reflash miui

I can't turn my device off my Galaxy S2.
If I press turn of after clicking the power button, it will turn of, and reboot again. I decided to do the same by entering in cwm and asking it to turn of the phone. It also rebooted.
If I take the battery off, it reboots as soon as I put it on again.
I'm currently on KI8, with speedmod kernel. But happened the same with KI3 a few minutes ago...
Any guess?
Thank you so much.
damn it! I did a full wipe. And thought it had worked, because it was off, but just when I was posting that the problem was fixed, the phone turned on by it self automatically.
Any solution? I'm getting crazy!
any help on this?
EDIT: wipe chache and dalvik cache
If i shut down the phone, after a few seconds on display appear charge and battery overheating image. Phone can only be enabled if go in recovery, and press reboot. Can not turn off. Any ideas, but not SC?

Difficult to help with no specific information about the ROM, kernel, etc. running on your phone.
Since when do you have this issue?
What has happened just before this problem appeared the first time?
Just as theoretical suggestions:
1. Start into recovery mode, wipe cache partition.
2. Shut down the phone.
Pull out the battery.
Leave it out for about 5 minutes.
(Just to be sure that everything "cooled" down and CPU is fully out of any voltage and current.)
Then put the battery back into the phone.
3. If nothing helps, flash a stock ROM.
Then start into recovery mode and do a factory reset.
(So backup everything you do not want to lose before flashing.)
Good luck !
problem arose in the morning, after charging the phone. Reset did, flash another firmware. None of this helps.
I have since a few weeks an issue when i turn screen on with power button. It randomly, but many times a day, turns on and then immediately off after 1st press. All is ok on 2nd press.
I use ICS 4.0.3 LPG stock rom and kernel. Only Jkay framework. I tried to uninstall Jkay and restore screen libraries, but problem persists.
Anyone has this issue? Can it be an early symptom of power button getting bad?

Hi all,
I would like to ask advice from you all regarding my sgs3 situation below
My sgs3 is a stock one, never root or whatsoever before.
This evening, there is an update from samsung application and i update my sgs3. I did not restart them as normally it will restart itself before once completed. After few hours, i found out my sgs 3 turn to boot screen black background with white font sgs3. I remove battery and put back, then start phone again, but it still shows boot screen.
Then later, i try removing battery again, then put back and connect to the charger at home, it shows the charging indication, but never turn to green that i do not what happened and my sgs3 still cannot boot. Then, i try to do restore factory setting by push simultaneously power, volume up and home button. But, the boot logo will appear, gone, and appear again and again.
I do not know what happened to my sgs3. Any idea?

Try wiping cache partition and dalvic cache
That's "funny"!
I have exactly the same problem, just as you describe.
Can't do anything. No indication that it charges what so ever.
Dead as a Dodo!!
At the moment I'm downloading the last official firmware and will try to flash that one.
If it doesn't work, I will have to leave the phone to a service center.
I will let you know how it worked out!
Don't loose the faith!!

No luck with re-flashing....
It did not work for me i'm afraid.
Sending it in for repairs on Monday!

Noted. Will send to service centre today
The same thing happened to me just now. I was running Task650's AOKP Build 1/1/2013 totally stock (stock AOKP kernel, no OC or UV), I had to Odin back to UCALG1, and even then, the phone would get stuck in the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" splash screen. I had to reboot to stock recovery, Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache for the phone to boot up.
Just wanted to put this here, maybe it will be of help to someone.

I hope that you are aware that you also suffer from SDS!? (Sudden Death Syndrome)

Just leave your phone to a certified Samsung service center and they will change the main board for you (for free).
Hopefully I will get mine back sometime next week!! :fingers-crossed:
All the best
