[Q] Ringtone always goes through speakers, even with headphones - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I got the One yesterday, and it's a great phone, *but*:
even if I have headphones plugged in, ringtones, text tones, and other such noises always output through the speakers. Not really any more to say. I've gone through all the settings I could think of, but regardless of what I choose, it always outputs through the speakers until I answer. When I answer the call, noise goes through the headphones as it should.
FWIW, I had this problem with my TMobile Sidekick as well.

ringing?

I searched and could not find any info on this, so sorry if it has been asked before.
When my ear piece is plugged in to the unit, the ringer will not ring (produce sound) through the speaker, it only rings (produces sound) through the ear piece. Is there a setting I am missing? Or, has anyone else had this problem...thanks!
That is normal, when you plug in the earpiece sound is diverted to the earpiece and the speaker is dead, once you remove it the sound will return to speaker, why would you want sound through the speaker while using the earpiece?
Thanks for the reply. I must not have asked the question very well.
I do understand that the sound is diverted to the ear piece while it is plugged into the phone. And I understand that voice needs to be because you want to hear what people are saying.
However, many times I carry the phone in my pocket with the earpiece plugged into it. When it rings, I can not hear the ring because the ringing sound is also being diverted to the ear piece.
If you take a look at the Handspring TREO or other non PDA phones, the ringer will ring through the normal speaker reguardless if the ear piece is plugged into the phone or not. This enables you to hear the phone ring if you have the ear piece plugged in. Only the voice sound is diverted to the ear piece, not the ringing sound.
The feature of being able to hear the phone ring while the ear piece isplugged in is important to me. It appears that it is standard on other phones and I was looking to see if there is a setting, hack or ajustment to make this happen on my phone.
Sorry for the long post and not explaining it well the first time.
All the best.
That would be so nice ... I miss this feature in my old Nokia 9210 where there was a "Headset" profile that you can customise.
There is a bit silly solution for this I use it when I 'm in the car. Keep the headset jack a bit loosy ... don't make it firmly connected to the XDA. This way the ringer will come through the XDA but you will get the sound in the headset but only in the right channel
I don't mind it since I don't use the 2 earpieces for only phone calls ... only for MP3 files  ... hope that will help
Sorry I am without my XDA for a few weeks, so I can't tell you what to do, but I can offer you hope! You can make the phone ring through the XDA when the headset is plugged in.
Head over to www.pdaphonehome.com and search through the forum there.
Thanks for that, I did go over there and could not find the subject, so I posted the topic there. Thanks again!
UPDATE....Updating the ROM to version A.20.17 fixed the issue
UPDATE # 2 Now I upgraded to WM2003 and I am experiencing the same problem...Any suggestions?

Replacement speaker for X10? Mine is distorted

One day, after I took my X10 out of silent mode, the "boop" sound for volume adjustment wasn't clear. Tried music and it was quite obviously distorted. Sound through the headphones remained perfectly clear!
Music distortion is one thing, but this makes my ringer much quieter
If the headphones are clear, it seems like it can't be the internal amplifier.
Does anybody know where a replacement speaker can be found?
if i'm not mistaken, a speaker of that size cannot possibly give you the type of sound you would find on a desktop computer.
and if i'm not mistaken as well, speakers of all phones are really horrible, compared to using the headphones. so it's a normal thing.
i believe there are speaker accessories for the x10. look at SE's global website
To clarify:
The phone had clear sound for months.
One day, the sound was distorted.
It has remained distorted, even at low volumes.
The headphone sound is still clear.
Therefore, I suspect the speaker is damaged.
I don't want external speakers, I want to hear my ringtone when I get a call!!!
(bump)
Any sources for X10 parts???
why don't you send it to se that they repair it for you ?
here is a page with spare parts:

call me crazy, but blow (using your mouth!!) into the speaker holes. My old C905 had the same thing and it turned out to be dust/sand/junk that was stuck in the speaker hole - causing the speaker to distort!
worth a shot hey!

email sound even with headphones plugged in?

I noticed that even with my headphones plugged in, when a notification sound occurred telling me I got a new email, it played loudly as though there were no headphones plugged in. And it wasn't just loudly coming through the headphones, but actually from the tablet speaker.
What gives...?
noticed that too
yea, it's not a big deal obviously if I'm at home...but it can be a little distracting when it goes off at work
i noticed that when I start pandora up, the notification sounds come through the headphones just fine.
But when I stop pandora, the notification sounds go right back to ringing outside the headphones.

[Q] Bluetooth&Speaker Call Audio To Low - What to do?

Hello
Im having a problem with my s3 sound quality during a call, both with my bluetooth car kit and the phone speaker. On my bluetooth car kit, the sound is to low, even after i set it up to max on the phone and on the radio and the other person does hear me fine (it uses the mic from the car) but i can barely hear the other person.
The other issue is also during a call, if i put it to speaker ( which i did after i couldnt hear anything on bluetooth), the sound is still to low and i can barely understand what the other person is saying.
Its very annoying and its the first phone where this happens, even cheaper phones i had didn't had these issues. So i was wondering if anyone knows a solution for this? I thought of doing this sound mod- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136 - but im not sure if it works and im also afraid to set the volume to high and break the speaker. I also thought about the "acid audio mod", but i think thats just for music quality.
Thank you for your time

Low In-Call Volume Wtih Wired Headset.

I am running CM10.1 WFTN with hboot 1.5 S-OFF on Sprint CDMA.
Every time i get a call or call out i can barely hear anything and im sure the speakers are worn out so i have new ones in the mail
however ive been trying to use speakers or headphones so i can actually have a conversation but even with the speakers plugged in or a headset its still very hard to hear.
I have found however that after i place a call or answer a call if I have the speakers plugged in and press the speaker phone on then off again the volume jumps way up and i can hear the other person. This is kind of a pain though and I'm not 100% sure that the speaker is worn out either considering that there is this problem with the headphone jack as well.
Does anyone know of any glitches/fixes for this issue ive tried everything i can think of and the volume is all the way up for everything.
