So I'm currently using "CleanROM Professional Edition 4.3" (march 2012) and want to upgrade to a newer/better ROM, such as Infection 2.6, but afraid it will screw my phone up as I haven't messed around with it in over a year:
My current phone details:
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense: 3.6
Kernel: 3.0.16 , baseband 1.22.10.0310r build 3.11.604.22
PRI Version: 1.16_002, 2.07_002
PRL Version: 15223
ERI Version: 5
Phone is S-ON with recovery RA-VIGOR-v3.13
What ROM do you guys recommend I update to from this, and how should I go about doing it? Do I need to update the firmware first, anything special I need to do from my current set up, etc...?

What's the issue with the current rom you have? Do you want to stick to Sense? I would suggest updating the firmware if you go to a more current rom. Check out the Dev sections for current roms to pick from.

Issue with my current ROM is it's a little unstable, has bad bluetooth and it crashes once every other day at random times. And would like to try a ROM with Jelly Bean OS.
What do I need to do to get my current set up to S-OFF, do I have do a complete factory reset and go back to the everything original (is that even possible after I unlocked the bootloader)? Or can I just flash the stock recovery (is that what stock RUU means?)?
And then will JuopunutBear S-OFF work?

You don't need to be s-off to install roms, there's just some extra steps in flashing the kernel.
Also I see you have duplicate posts with the same question, I'd close one if you can...

I always recommend AmonRA (latest is 1.7.0.1 IIRC).
As for ROMs, you have 2 main choices (well, maybe 3)
Sense 2.1 ROMs (like official)
Vanilla 2.1 ROMs
Vanilla 2.2 (Froyo ROMs)
Which you go for depends on what you like in a ROM, and how stable you want. Froyo ones are slightly less perfected, but still perfectly usable for a daily phone (I use Froyd on mine every day for the past month or so, without issue)
The most stable would be a Sense 2.1 ROM, as that is as close to the HTC update as you get.
Thanks for the quick answer.
So all i have to do is to flash the amonRa image with flashrec?
After using Universal Androot yes.
@lajba: i'm have same sofware info like yours but didn't manage to get flshrec working
stuck there..

Hey all,
I unlocked and flashed to a custom rom for the first time ever (Clean Rom DE) without too much difficulty thanks to all the information here.
I did this because bluetooth was not working on the stock phone. I could turn it on and off, but it fails to find the device. I was hoping that ICS would fix this issue.
Long story short, it did not.
So, after digging through the forums, I've discovered that I am running ICS on GB firmware and I assume radios, as I used the patch method of flashing CleanRom.
Will flashing to the current hboot and radio fix the bluetooth problem?
CleanRom DE 1.4
Kernal: 3.0.16
HBOOT: 2.11.0000
Radio: 0.95.00.118r and 0.95.00.1223r
Build Number: 3.14.605.5
Thank you!
Mark
Hi everyone,
So I am currently using CM10, but for some reason the GPS and MMS doesn't work. My only concern right now is to get GPS working again. After reading the forums the consensus seems to try to go back to sense and get a lock, then re-install CM10. The problem I seem to run into is that if I try to install another ROM it ends up not booting.
So I came here to ask for help. I think it might have something to do with the Kernel version, but I'm not 100% sure.
Specs:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: 1.12.11.0809
Kernel version: 3.0.51-geb1844c [email protected] #1
CyanogenMod version: 10
Team Win Recovery Project v2.4.1.0
DirtyRacun
Jewel PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-SPCS_001
HBOOT-1.19.2222
RADIO-1.12.11.0809
OpenDSP-V29.1.0.25.0622
eMMC-boot
After typing the specs I have noticed it doesn't say unlocked. Maybe this is the problem?
Ok so to recap here are my questions:
1. Does the kernel matter when installing ROMs?
2. When moving from Stock to any non-Sense ROM what is the correct way to make sure GPS works?
3. Should I be worried that it doesn't say unlocked in the bootloader? It might be re-locked because I tried a factory reset...
4. When does HBoot and Radio version matter?
5. Broad question: Is this the correct method to try to fix the GPS?
Thanks!
So I accidentally used the x.xx.1700.x - Google Edition (WWE) Firmware from [GUIDE] [16.08.2013] Jelly Bean firmware collection for different Carriers ID (CID)
Is there anyway for me to get back to stock? Or do I have to wait for a 4.2.2 and 4.A.18.3263.15 baseband RUU?
I feel your pain...

I did the same thing. Oops. There is currently no way to roll back unless you were already S-OFF before you flashed. You can get back to stock in just about every way but the firmware by installing a stock ROM in recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384631
