Well, I see nobody answer you yet.
You have to modify three files in /system/etc/ folder: callocation.db, dp.db, and raw_yellow_data.db. Actualy, you can delete the last one. I don't know what's happen if you delete callocation.db. In this one is a database with China areas phone codes, and in dp.db is China Operators. What you see in dialer, is a location from china based on the number stored.

It's a different thing, because I'm sure you don't have Baidu Cloud ROM. If you have a stock ROM, you have to look in /system/app for something like CallerLocation.apk and uninstall it with a root explorer app, and if your ROM is odexed, after uninstall go to same folder and delete CallerLocation.odex, then restart your phone. It is better to enter in recovery to wipe data and cache after that or even best solution is to remove the caller app from "your_rom" zip before install. In HTC stock ROMs caller location is achieved thru some apps which includes those words in name. If you want to transalte it to english, hmmm.. I don't know. Even HTC removed that app from european versions, so...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749045
Thanks for looking
First one to thank you! Trying this as im typing right now..
it's pretty useless without voice recognition
Getting a network error...any ideas?
My data is enabled.
This is working on most AOSP/AOKP.
Not working on stock or stock like roms.
Voice will not connect with servers and you will only get errors.
Its a work in progress.
It will install but you can only search by typing.

Is it possible to get a CMW flashable zip of this?
Just tested it out and it does load but the network issues and no voice search kill it a bit , but its got a future...
To revert back can I just make apk1 to apk?
Or do I need to uninstall something?
I couldn't find it in that thread.
On the last page someone asked the same thing but hasn't had an answer so I was wondering if anyone has done it here.

can you guys with the network error try this one (and log if possible)
push it to /system/app and replace the old one velvet apk if there's any.
what u can do is move the GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk to a folder you know in case you need to place back again, and download and move this one Velvet-theos0o to /system/app and set permission just close and try the search button on your cell phone after a reboot
Thanks
are you properly logged in etc. on other google services?

Delete the googleserachbox.apk in data/app then rename the one in system/app. After that reboot to recovery, clear cache and dalvik then fix permissions and reboot.
yeah just remove the 1 after apk and remove any other velvet or search apk u had place in that folder /system/app

[GUIDE] Change your carrier name manually | Easy

Hi :victory:
After seeing this mod on the news portal I wanted to change the carrier name myself, but unfortunately that was only for Verizon phones. So I looked through /system and found preloaded_config.xml which contained information on all carriers and I managed to change the carrier name (with some help from this app) And here's an easy guide how you can do it yourself!
1. First you want to download preloaded_config.xml and spn-conf.xml.
2. Open the files with a program like Notepad++.
3. Search for your carrier inside preloaded_config.xml. I had to search for "Tele2 NO" (remember capital letters). You will find something like this:
<preloaded-data mnc="07" mcc="240" operator-name="S COMVIQ" service-provider="Tele2 NO" service-provider-id="262">
Click to collapse
4. The value mnc="07" and mcc="240" makes the number 24007 (put the first value behind the second). These values will differ for every carrier.
5. In spn-conf.xml, replace "XXXXX" with your new number. (For me it's 24007)
6. In spn-conf.xml you must also change what your new carrier name will be. (Replace "skifyr123").
7. Save spn-conf.xml and move it to /system/etc/. Reboot for changes!
And that's it. If it doesn't change be sure you found the correct carrier for your country!
An easier way is to use the app "Carrier Name": http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901865 But it is reported that it doesn't work on all phones/ROMs. Working on Xperia S.
Nice!

it does not work on me. i did it b4 & now. nothing changed. show my original carrier name only.
im on 2.3.7
Thanks for your work!

Tried it trough using the app, worked, rebooted, still Vodafone instead of my own name...
Looked trough Root Explorer, found in system/etc file spn-conf.xml, my name was there, and value was 20404 (the right numbers)
Am i missing something? Should i change it in preloaded_config.xml and and save it?

Same here, although I noticed my carrier displays as 3uk for a few seconds before changing to 3.
No matter what I try it will not change.
Sent from my XperiaS via transwarp conduit.
works very good for me.. just be sure not to add symbols and caracters in the name such as :"
AND IF U USE ROOT EXPLORER BE SURE TO DELETE THE BACKUP FILE : spn-conf.xml.bak THE APPLICATION AND MOST OF SUCH APPLICATION CREATE BEFORE RESTART..
thanks
Perfectly working with VIVO Xperia S 4.0.4 MooDeD ICS 90.5
Your method and also the recommended apps in my Xperia Mini Pro doesn't work too=(
Does not work on my Razr xt910 226.3 ICS EU.retail
works on SGS2 4.1.2 stock rom
For what it's worth, this method works on my Samsung Galaxy S2, with stock JB.
I've added the following line to change my carrier's name to my custom text:
<spnOverride numeric="12345" spn_display_rule="SPN_RULE_SHOW_SPN" spn="mytext"/>
You'll need to replace the 12345 above with your carrier's MCC+MNC. Use the Network Info II app from the market to get that info.
Make sure to fix permissions and owner on the file after you copy it back to /system/etc.
Not working for Android 9.0 Pie Samsung

No... I had to install a custom rom based on the G900F model, the only solution I've found on internet.
There's a way to find out whether "hidden" language exists.
Get Explorer or Root Explorer (both are from Speed Software).
Go to /system/framework and "view" framework-res.apk
Go to /res and find raw-xx.xx folder.
If the folder number is more than number of languages from the phone, you should be able to enable "hidden", but if the number is the same, forget it.

[Q] newbie need help please......

I have a samsung note 3 sprint smn900p
I want to translate the system apks like framework-res.apk and secsettings.apk
then I found one of my friend has a same mobile note 3 sprint already translated and same android version 4.4.2
so I copy all of his files completely ( all system files and system apks ) around 2 GB .
and I make a backup of my system using TWRP recovery .
and now I try to install his framework-res.apk , so I copy it to my sdcard and using rootexplore then change the permissions to R-W-R-R and paste the framework-res.apk file to the system/framework folder and it already replaced the old framework-res.apk with the new framework-res.apk which already translated . but the problem I dont see that the mobile make upgrading for the new apk so I go to the new framework and try to install it from rootexplorer but always get a message app not installed.
I change the mount to RO then RW but nothing change only app not installed.
so how to install the new framework-res.apk ?
my second question, can I make a new rom using my friends complete system files and flash it to my mobile ?
thank you

What language are you trying to get that's not already built into the phone? For future reference, it is best to change the framework via recovery, if at all.
I want to get arabic language on my mobile.
and the 4.4.2 stock rom delete many languages on it so even morelocal app cant add any language.

You might as well flash a custom ROM for it. Or you will have to replace every singe files on the device as they all have ref to other languages. Yes they remove alot of them. Like my device doesn't even have that option and none I have used have, they have all needed alot of work and none work completely.

I have all of the system apks that are already translated from another same mobile.
and I want to change the original system apks with these system apks that are already translated like ( framework-res.apk, secsettings.apk, mms.apk, phone.apk )
so my question how to install the translated system apks ?
my mobile already rooted and has a TWRP recovery. first for a test I try to replace a framework-res.apk only to the system/framework and it succeed, but the problem the phone not doing reboot automatic and upgrade the new framework.
I try to install it from the root explorer but it says app is not installed .
so my question how to install the translated system apks ?
someone suggest me to make a full backup using custom recovery from the mobile that already translated and make a restore it to my mobile , can it be done ? is this way is correct ? because it will be very easy .

The stock wall papers can be found in framework-res.apk (see this link: https://www.droidiser.com/2013/08/android-wallpaper-location-how-to-extract.html).
To get this apk to your phone, you need to get root access for your shell. Lineage for example let's you do that withhin developer options. I don't think stock roms do that too.
However, since it's a .apk file as well, you could search for that app, e.g.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ framework-res.apk

maybe you're lucky.
Else you could try to download you devices firmware and extract it. But I have no idea how to do that or if that acctually works.
Easiest would be to push framework-res.apk to the computer and open it (in you're using Windows, you also have to change the .apk into .zip).
FYI: I tried that with my device (Xiaomi Mi A2, LineageOS) and it worked as described in that article I linked.
EDIT: If you have root access you could try to search inside of /data/apps /data/priv-app/ etc for `walpaper'. If you do the same with those app as with that framework-res.apk, you could maybe find even more default wallpapers.
E.g. search like this:
Code:
myDevice:/# find /data -name *wallpaper*
