Now they are cheaper, Im looking to replace my S3, my old one has a camera issue. When I look on eBay, some adverts say "New 2013 Model" or "latest 2012 Model", also there are a few different colours coming up in 2nd hand stores.
In my experience "new" revsions usually means motherboard replacment (sudden death fixed), screen upgrades or better camera models, Im pretty sure the Grey 4G version is newer, but here in the UK, 4G S3s are silly prices
Ive surfed around on the web, but nothings come up.
My questions are:
Are there newer revisions at all?
How can I tell, such a serial number or model number?
Thanks
New revisions of Galaxy S III?
Never hard of it.
But not necessary it means motherboard or screen or any part replaced and renewed. Because S III is still being produced even S4 has come out.
But however there is some A-holes who renewed older or dead S3 to make it as new one for selling in better price.
there is some more color, if I remember correctly, red color in USA and black in China.
Right, I am not sure that I even understood your question...

There are different firmware revisions of the eMMC (VTU00M) from 0xf1 to 0xf7. Although this is a firmware revision, it's a revision (as you suggested) that isn't SDS prone, which is a hardware symptom - but the eMMC physically remains the same. I'm not aware of any other revisions than this on the GT-i9300 (hardware or otherwise)
My Camera sometimes says "Cannot Open, Camera Error" and locks up.. so rather than spend £100 getting it fixed.. i could put that towrds a new phone and i do love my S3 .
The reason Im asking these questions is, if I do decide to replace my S3, then it would be nice to have a new firmware revision which i could tell by a different serial or model number.
I was also curious as to why people say "new 2013 model".. but yeah i can see people trying to make more cash.. cheeky
But in hindsight, i might pick up an S4 or HTC One.. il have a think.

Hey, I recently got my i9300 stolen and I am getting it back on insurance, however I was thinking to sell the new handset they give me and instead buy the LTE version PAYG from Orange (UK resident here).
Only issue is no-one in the Orange and T-Mobile branches can clarify to me whether the model has 2GB of RAM and is indeed the i9305.
In orange the phone they had on display under LTE version under 'About Device' showed to be i9300's with 1GB RAM but I'm guessing that's because they've just used a standard S3 for the sake of display?
No staff for some reason know whether it has the extra Gb of RAM, most people just stating the only difference is LTE.
In T-Mobile, the guy at least had the courtesy to say it WAS the i9305 they sell, but the device was locked if I tried to go to RAM manager or About.
My question is if anyone has bought a handset from Orange (only 450) and whether it is indeed the i9305 with 2GB RAM.
Also my second question I guess is, is there any point me getting this model or should I just keep my standard handset. I'm assuming as an ORange customer I could migrate to EE when it launches but I'm just not sure.
Thanks

I would go for it, because the phone will be as future proof as possible, 2GB RAM will allow heavy multi-tasking, and LTE will be there when it comes to your area.
And about them not knowing whether the ones in stock are I9305, go up to them and say "Oi clueless guy get a box and check what it says" seriously they turned me down for a job when I know more about Android than the iSheep that work there.
I might walk in sometime and ask them loads of technical questions.

I assume it cant be phone insurance you got with the phone then as you have no choice but to get a replacement of the same model I would have though. Given the choice i'd get the updated model.

What the OP said is he plans to get a replacement I9300, then sell it to get an I9305 and I was just saying I would.
Get the i9305.
easiest way to find out it is the i9305 is to look at the box and it is on the bottom left at the back of the box.
also it would be locked to orange
+1 I9305. enough said i think you have more then enough opinions. Ill see you in the I9305 forum bye for now
lol yeah i got it in the end sooo nice to go back to the S3 from the now heavily dated desire HD.
the box doesn't state the 2GB RAM, and they told me if I open the box to check the phone, I have to pay first :|
you're right, they know nothing, I saw the model number and said well if it's i9305 it's 2GB RAM to which the sales assistant retorted (quite cockily i might add) no the 2GB RAM is a model only available in Japan the only difference with this is LTE.
Well luckily I knew my stuff so bought it, checked, 1.75GB of RAM on my system and a nice titanium grey finish.
felt the sting horribly on my bank card though, need to sell the replacement phone now (any takers...).
for anyone wondering I live in Nottingham which should be getting 4G by the end of the year so I felt it was definitely a worthwhile purchase.
THIS BULL**** LIFE STORY ASIDE ---------
I'm assuming I can't flash a ROM made for the i9300? anyone know where to browse some interesting i9305 ones?
it's rooted and CWM'd up but I'm already wanting to try something different and less bloaty.
thanks for your input guys
cant flash i9300 roms unfortunately:crying: but hopefully as more of us get onboard their maybe some more development soon:good:
Breaking my cherry post...
I'm also looking to break my android cherry, having been an iOS user so excuse the noob questions. I have been looking to get a i9305 from Orange. My question is if I get the phone from orange, have it unlocked but not rooted and use a sim card from another carrier like O2 or vodafone will I still get OTA updates as those network carriers don't even sell the i9305.
I'm probably going to go with T-Mobile as they have a good sim only deal at the moment but as only Orange sell the phone on payg, would a T-Mobile sim work without having to unlock the phone?
Lastly how easy is it to remove the stuff that network carriers put on the phone, simple a case of deleting apps or is that where rooting comes in?
Hey guys, I bought this S4 off Craigslist, and when I was looking at the build number it said that it had MDM_LLK
I was wondering what build it is since it's neither a MDK or a ME7
I looked all over but couldn't find an answer
That is a peculiar one, I can't find anything on it either.
Only thing I can find that is remotely close (but only because it has the letters MDM in the build number) is the Galaxy S4 I9505 international version...
Just out of curiosity what does the sticker under the battery say the phone is exactly (model, etc)?
the sku is SCHI545KDU which apparently runs a version of firmware that's only for display model
when you search google for it, it gives you a result of an ebay listing stating so
the thing is
I rooted this using motochopper, and installed twrp through goomanager
and it all worked... which made me wonder if this is a dev edition phone
the guy i bought it from said he didn't know since he got it from craigslist too
I checked Samsung's site... If I read it correctly, the sku for the developer edition is something like SCH-I545ZKDVZW. So I doubt that a working display phone would be the same as a developer phone, it would make no sense for them to do that. IMHO it would be a bit excessive to use a developer phone just show what the phone can do (for the most part).
So how much of the display phone actually is functional? Can you actually use it on the network at all? Is there anything that isn't working at all?
Lastly is it legal for a display phone to be sold to end users? I mean it doesn't seem right in some sense that a working display phone for the still being sold Galaxy S4 being sold to end users? Maybe it is legal or legit to do but I do hope you didn't get screwed over by this sale.
When I check the ESN it let's me activate the phone from the Verizon website
Yeah I don't know... It's weird
Hello everyone.
First of all, sorry about my English because I'm not a native speaker.
I have a phone model - HTC One X+ Plus PM63100 for AT&T 64GB - with cracked screen.
I found out that my phone has SONY display version ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164760 )
Wanted to replace digitizer with front panel and order it from here http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-htc...embly-with-front-housing-and-light-guide.html but person who answered my question about compatibility said that it is not compatible with my phone model.
However, there is a one customer review under that replacement part which says that "it turned out to be uncompatible with my HTC One X+ international version. I do not know why this is the case but it is what it is."
In wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_One_X it seem international X+ and AT&T version are same size.
I'm very confused and desperate, searching more than 2 months and can't find which replacement part fits my phone.
Please advice what to do or purchase.
Also, are both X+ models - S728e?
Thank you beforehand.
cracked screen
I was in a similar situation some time back, when my Telus unlocked HOX+ 64 Gb dropped and the screen cracked.
I gave it to a local repair guy, he ordered a HOX screen first and then realised that HOX+ has a little different hardware (some screws were in different places). hence, HOX and HOX+ are slightly different builds. Also, the international HOX+ and AT&T/Telus HOX+ are also different I suppose. Firstly the they have red coloured capacitive buttons at the bottom (also there is no red ring around the camera at the back).
The part shown in your link seems to be the same one that I have, so i think it should be compatible.

Thank you for response.
I don't care about button colors, even logo. I just want to purchase match display. Could you please (if it is possible of course) ask your local repair guy what was the model he replaced for your phone? Even link will be very helpful for me.
Thanks againt
I've been using my phone since i quite badly cracked it last month. Touch screen is still working fine and i may not even get the screen fixed.
Only thing i'm worried about is if the device is less waterproof now i have large cracks in it....:/

hi thisaint,
i checked with my local guy, but sorry, he doesn't seem to have any clue regarding the model number or the actual source of the panel. most these repair guys here have a trader/distributor from whom they get all kinds of accessories required for repair and they hesitate to give out the details fearing loss of business.!

Dear friend,
thank you for response.
I'll be happy to be in Mumbai or even in USA to repair my phone but unfortunately I live in another country. )
I had a hope to see my phone repaired before this christmas but it seem I'll meet holidays without it
Solved
Hello everyone.
Finally I have found a replacement lcd screen digitizer frame assembly at ebay/com.
Seller assure me that his SHARP screen is interchangeable with my previous SONY screen and I risked and purchased his item for 65 USD.
(insert ebay com) /itm/LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Frame-Front-Cover-For-HTC-ONE-X-Plus-S728E-/251348208725?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item3a85854c55
I'm using it without any issues, however screen buttons are red , that's all difference with original.
I have an AT&T HTCOne M7 silver 32GB with this camera issue. I am looking for the camera module to replace the damaged one but all I get on eBay and Alibaba is compatibility for 801e/s/n 802t/w/d models. I am not able to find which kind of model my phone would be. I have a part number PN07120 but that's all. It seems those models denominations are for european and international versions..
I have seen other threads where some camera modules are discussed but I can't find confirmation for an AT&T model replacement camera.
Does anybody knows which module will fit better for my phone? I even called U.S. HTC product support and they are not able to determine the model..
Thanks
The thing about that is, if you replace the camera module, it's going to fail again unless you repair the insufficient CPU heatsink/heat shield.
Probably cheaper (and much less headache) to find a used M7 with a good camera module and just use that phone.
Just got my M7 back from HTC today, after maybe 1 week at most of them having it. Fixed. Looks beautiful now, and I can finally take normal pics of my kids again with no purple. It's super easy - just wipe your phone for security's sake, call HTC, play nice and polite on the phone and tell them you have the purple camera bug and would like to mail it in.... you may need to work your way up a call center chain, but eventually they'll send you an email with a UPS shipping label and instructions. It's free. It's a known defect. My M7 was from AT&T initial release of the phone back in 2012 and they fixed it free here in Feb 2016.
I want to get one of these and I found quite a few of them as "new other", probably refurbished. There are quite a few seller with similar prices and more or less the same the same description and in the description a lot of the sellers recommend to not upgrade the android version: "Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)(Suggestting not to upgrade the system.) ".
My question is, can anyone tell me what a good reason for this would be/what's wrong with the 7.0 update that I can't find/ what could cause the phone to not work with 7.0/anything?
PS: Seller also claims this is a LG H900, if that is at all relevant.

the reason behind not update to newer version of software maybe be related of motherboards replacement, like exterior saying its a H901 but the motherboard is a H960A or other, so, you think you have one and you have another in reality.
Those kind of things happen in refurbished phones so, i just warning you to dont buy those, you will have a lot of trouble with...someday the phone will bootloop again, since its a refurbished for some kind of bootloop early and then they repair it and put it to sell again.
If you want to be safe just add more 60/70 in money and you can buy a new one instead of refurbished. they are so cheap now.

Thanks for the answer!
Unfortunately the phone is still very expensive where I live but I found some sold as new in box and without the "Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)(Suggestting not to upgrade the system.) " recommendation. There are at a similar price I just have to pay tax since they are outside the EU which is not a big deal. The interesting part is that they are advertised as LG H900 unlocked as well.
