Bad MD5 sums - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Anyone else getting an inordinate amount of bad MD5 sums when downloading from androidfilehost? Seems like every other DL is bad now.

I suppose I should clarify a little more. I DL'd Jelly Beans and Hyper Drive RLS2 this morning. On both downloads the MD5 sums of the DL'd file did not match the posted MD5 sum. I was able to successfully flash Jelly Beans (haven't tried RLS2 yet) which leads to me to ask what the relevancy of MD5 sums is if they aren't going to match?
For reference I am using WinMD5 to check the values, but I was using a different prior and getting similar results.

[Q] Can somebody please help me with the md5 code

I am a newbie but i just wiped my brother's x10 mini pro and installed MiniCM v6.0 Final Release | for CWM (big thanks to doixanh) MD5: E4B8A514D72034DDB0BC53B08F4142E. I know not what to use or how to use the md5 and what to do with it. phone giving md5 error. Help!!!!
Compare the md5 of the file you've downloaded to the md5 in the first post of the slade miniCM 6 thread. If there's a mismatch, download the file again. Though, I probably wouldn't install v 6.0 on a wiped phone, since it takes ages to boot. Read more in the above mentioned thread.

please pardon my ignorance, i'm a web developer but what exactly has md5 got to do in this? is there anything dat i have to do before installing or any other app i need to download?
I don't know exactly (actually, I have no idea...) how the md5 is generated, but from what I can understand, it reflects the integrity of the file. If the file is somehow corrupted during download, the md5 differs from the original one and if I recall correctly, slade included an md5 check in the installation script of his latest rom to avoid unnessecary phone-bricking. So, my advice remains, download the file again. There's no need to download or install anything else. I'm not a developer of any kind, so if you really want to know what the md5 is, i suggest google or wiki, but I'm fairly sure I've understood the use of it in this setting...

[Q] What is MD5 Sum?

I see this a lot here lately. What exactly is it and what do you use it for?
Very basically MD5 gives a value of the file it is referencing. If you see a file with a MD5 sum next to it you can download that file and check its MD5 sum to ensure the file downloaded properly. There are different programs for it.
Certain Odin and other files will be signed, for lack of a better word, with a MD5 sum. When Odin runs it checks for that signature and if found it runs a MD5 sum check. If the signature and check don't match Odin will fail.

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm getting really sick of these MD5s

I'm trying to install an OFFICIAL Mod for Gingeritis3D, when I do it says that the "MD5 did not match." I'm getting sick of this MD5 crap, is there a way I can bypass it?
It's really not a great idea to ignore md5's that don't match, but if you don't care about how bad it could wreck your ROM, don't check it. Just flash it.
Yep if it does not match redownload it and check again.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button
Just to expand on what they said, MD5 checks verify that the file you have is both complete and unaltered. If the check is failing, then there may be a bigger issue -- either the published MD5 is wrong or the file you downloaded has been corrupted or altered in some way (possibly an incomplete download). It would probably be best to contact where you got the file from.

[Q] CheckROM RevoHD™ V3.1.1

Hi i was trying to download that rom from checkrom.com/threads/checkrom-revolutionhd-v3-1-1-xwkj3-rock-stable.208/[/url] and after download i Checked MD5 and they are different from those that are on dl page.
MD5 of file I have dl is 8A84E918EFE8861F9F5102EF7F2A7928
and MD5 on pages says that is shoudl be ce1af2d87feaa5a10da0a6948c95bea8
Any one can tell me where i can dl correct rom with good md5.
Ensure you antirus software is disabled as corrupts the files due to "false positive" detecting SuperUser app inside.
Try re-download again and as I suggest above
I tried that at work but md5 remain the same with av disabled. i will try to do that at home.
Problem has been solved by dl it at home.

MD5 for roms/kernels

hello, has been posted in the forum roms and kernels, but has not been posted MD5, peopl developers to post the MD5 to help those who download.
Sheldon, Your post is difficult to understand but from what I gather, you would like developers to post MD5 sums for files. If this correct let me respond by saying that my ROM's have an automatic MD5 sum in the file and the file is zipped. If the zip file is corrupt I would expect CRC errors and you can't flash a file that you can not extract. When you go to flash the file, Odin does an MD5 checksum and you can not flash it if the checksum fails. By zipping the file and including the built in MD5 sum. I am insuring that people are not flashing garbage to their device.
Is that what you are worried about?
