I have a Droid Razr Maxx with the OTA Jelly Bean on it.
1. I rooted the phone.
2. Installed Safestrap
3. I messed up and installed CM 10.1 over the stock partition.
Now it will not boot.
I've downloaded the OTA JB files, extracted them. Open up RSD Lite, select XML file, select the device and click start.
I get the following error:
Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. 1/10 flash cdt.bin "cdt.bin_signed" -> Phone Returned FAIL. ; phone connected
I've searched around for the past hour or so but can't figure out what my next step should be. Any help would be appreciated.
Do you have an XT912 or XT910?

Download the fast boot files for your phone and use rsd lite 6 to flash your phone to completely stock again i would also suggest matt's utility since it is specially and specifically made for xt 912 cdma
Hope this helps

I googled everywhere and the same problem comes up for the Axtrix 4g. Says something about use SBF to flash a stock rom. how do you do this for the Photon??? Can someone list the step? thanks
what happened? homebasephoton1.5 rom. I tried to install it but after I reboot I got failed to boot message........
It just means that the phone is unable to boot and is starting the fail-safe RSD mode... basically allowing you to use RSD Lite to flash a new SBF (basically phone image) to the phone to restore it. Are you rooted/unlocked?

Did this go anywhere? I have the same issue but my phone is now dead, and when I plug it on the charger it automatically starts and goes to this screen even though I dont turn it on.
After you charge your phone(instructions in other thread) flash 154 first then newest. Make sure to charge between

Flash what? I am using this: 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_7-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf
That's the newest, download the 154 one and flashed it after manually charging your phone. Then flash that one

Sorry that I didn't reply any sooner. This is what I did, since when the phone is with that problem won't charge the battery nor with charger nor with USB, so, I ran out of juice... I had to get an universal charger to charge the battery and then I flash it with RSD. I've flashed this file 154_5 sbf, once I got in, I flashed the updated one. It worked pretty good.
Let me know, regards.
when I am flashing sbf I have to remove my external sd card otherwise it wont work at all.
I changed to Alien Rom.after changing to alien rom I was facing a lot of FCs.So tried RSD lite with latest SBF.Now I am stuck at "Failed to boot 4 starting RSD mode"
From what I read from forums my phone is soft bricked.
"Failed to boot 4" is when a filesystem is missing a signature
The solution is to flash 154 sbf using RSDlite 5.5 version with a fully charged battery using the usb at the back of your computer.
Once you are successful flashing 154 you can update with latest SBF.
The important points are below.
1. Fully charged battery. (use an external battery charger as Photon does not charge batery in boot mode.
2. Used RSDlite 5.5 version
3. Use USB at back.
4. Use 154 not the latest version of SBF.
5. Make sure the process is not interrupted until the process is completed
Failed to boot 2
Im having the same problem and reflashing 154-5 doesnt work. Instead phone says "SVF:106:1:2
sec_execption: b655, eddc, eb.
It always fails on flash and re-enumeration.

I'd suggest going back to Matt's thread, and going through a few pages as there is an updated version. I think it's also posted at another razr forum. Delete the versions you have just to eliminate any confusion. You may also just want to use RSD. It took me a few tries to get the right fastboot file, but once I did I just had to ota to .173 then to .181.

You should use safestrap or BMM 0.3.x to flash this rom.
Now you should use RSD lite to flash your phone back to original state
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php
I tried a million different RSD lite versions on my PC, none installed, error 2728 or something similar
And I cant access my BMM bootmenu which sucks because I have a functional second system

Installed windows +parallels on mac, RSD lite downloaded, fastboot file from the link didn't work, it said 6/21 "cdt.bin,, something phone returned fail"
What can I do? Am I screwed?
It also misidentified my phone as CDMA Razr, maybe spyder instead of umts/gsm
use latest RSD lite version which might be 5.6 i don't latest build and make sure you use correct fastboot file to flash. And ur phone is not misidentified as CDMA but the GSM phone shows spyder only cuz even mine does the same ...

How would I use it for this?
So I had ota ics and using safestrap to run aokp jb 4.2.1. I was messing around in 4636 hidden menu and activated usa band. Searching for a fix didn't help so I figured I could just use rsd lite and re-flash ics. I had long since the first time deleted all the files so I got the ones from sbf droid developers.org. The first I tried had 11 points and failed at 1/11 with a cdt.bin error. Then I got another which ran till 6/xx and then return the same error. The xx is because I didn't notice how many points it had to run through.
Do I have any options?
In rsd lite the device properties are all blank and they have been for both attempts.
Thanks

That error means you tried to flash an sbf with a lower version than you had on your device.
Make sure the sbf you are using is exactly the same you had running and for the same region.

OTA's only work once if phone is stock.
Android version can't be downgraded.
What are you trying to do?
As I said in OP, I was messing with stuff I didn't understand. I got the factory cable and also one of the old sbf files. I have checked that the one I have is for UMTS but it is still in CDMA mode. It just will not switch bad to UMTS mode.. I was using the wrong android version when I did this the first time but it is now flashed and working. Only problem is the radio thinks it is CDMA..

Factory cable for power. The phone had been unpowered for a year.
Term or not, I was just referring to the file extension. All these oem abbreviations, meh. I wouldn't even know if it was one or the other. It was listed as a sbf, so that's what I called it
But thanks replying. The is working now. I guess it must have been the right radio after all. Thanks anyway

I think we misunderstand eachother or i misunderstand you...
I have successfully flashed my XT912 previously with Blur_Version.98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US via RSD Lite.
I am already successfully rooted.
I used this utility to root when i migrated to Blur_Version.98.72.8.XT912.Verizon.en.US with RSD Lite as well.
This utility you mention does not install Blur_Version.98.72.165.XT912.Verizon.en.US, but rather Blur_Version.98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US (which is what i am currently running). That post was last edited 10 months ago.
Why is RSD Lite not working?
Or rather, is there another way to install this update? I've temp unrooted with voodoo and done the download and install process, but it fails every time. once it even formatted my internal memory...???
Sorry,my mistake.
