i'm trying to reinstall my lumia 800 firmware/OS (not sure which one) using NCS but i cant..
what i did
1. press volume up
2. insert USB
3. phone vibrates, i let go of volume up
4. 3 beeps from pc
5. phone vibrates and 3 beeps from pc loops for about 3 times
6. phone starts normally
did seveneighter once..help me to fix my phone pls
Why are you doing these steps? All you need is:
1. Run NCS/Product Support Tool.
2. Plug in your device and leave it at the home screen. NCS must recognize it.
3. Download fw and/or use Recovery option.
If you want the most recent fw you may go with Nokia Software Updater for Retail instead of NCS. It's the only tool which may download fw without any login.

hi all,
i just want to see which bootloader i have on my 710, but combination VOL+ POWER then plug in USB doesn't work,
even tryed VOL+ VOL - / VOL+ VOL - POWER, i have the short vibration but as soon as i plug in computer, windows phone load.
i am with Win7 and my phone has been updated recently via Zune.
any advice ?
bootloader
what are you trying to achieve here are you trying to check which bootloader you have or try to flash a custom rom or even sim unlock the device
to get the phone into flash mode its vol + and then power short vibration then plug usb lead in the computer should then detect it. all fails get nokia care suite flash the old firmware that has the unlocked bootloader, you could also plug your phone in as normal then load nss and choose the osbl option then click the arrow that will force the phone into flash mode
rob :good:
thx for the info, i'm trying first to check which boot-loader i have, but i didn't install nokia care suite yet. that's probably why the computer doesn't find the drivers and the phone boot normally in windowsphone. maybe i will install a custom rom to be more comfortable. anyhow it was not simlocked...
SOLVED: Hold down volume+ button while plugged in. Download and install "nokia usb driver" (second link) while the DLOAD in device manager still has no driver. Make sure your phone does not power by holding volume+, install it quickly.
NSS should detect your phone now.
You need to uninstall the Nokia USB Driver if you installed the Nokia Suite. And reinstall the one on the second result of google "nokia-connectivity-usb-driver..."
-------------------------- end solved---------------------
I cannot seem to be able to get rid of the DLOAD. Everytime I plug it in by holding the volume button after the shake or volume + power then wait for shake before plugging. My XP-SP3 inside VMWare recognizes the device and DLOAD but there is no driver for it. Then the device powers on and switches to normal mode in about 20 seconds.
Also NSS does not detect the device. In either mode. I installed zune successfully and got the windows phone driver working (a problem I had on my Win7-N without media player when I used my laptop).
Do I need to install the DLOAD driver to be able to detect the phone with NSS? Why does the phone keep powering itself on?
I tried both the long tutorial and the short NSS one. Cannot get either to work simply because the phone is not detected.
Im trying to get my Lumia 800 into recovery mode. This is what i do:
(I use Nokia Care Suit to update to WP7.8)
1. disconnect USB
2. Power off device
3. hold VOL UP button
4. keep holding VOL UP and insert USB cable
5. keep holding VOL UP till i feel a vibration.
6. Pray it will all go well.
My prayers have not helped. Everytime the phone vibrates again and does a normal startup.. What am i doing wrong?

Qualcomm bootloader
Windows 8 x64 & Linux Ubuntu. Both dont work.
Edit:
Windows device manager shows a "Windows Phone" under undefinded. But that disappears after a few second as my Nokia Lumia 800 reboots. Then it is recognised as a Lumia 800.

In Nokia Care Suite drivers folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Drivers) try to install the drivers again, for me it works
Thank you for your help. But unfortunately it does not work.
Everytime i try to get into recovery mode, the phone does connect, i hear a connection sound on my Windows 8 machine. Then the phone restarts into normal mode and zune starts.
I had the same issue...
And in Nokia Fuse, the device is available, but in the combobox of Nokia Care Suite, it doesn't appear...
Anyone can help us?

It could be that you're using the wrong format of driver. I had to install the x64 driver. check the computer you're on and install the x64 or x32 driver for it.
next, why are you trying to access recovery mode? you dont need to - with these drivers Nokia Care Suite does it itself.

Thank you for your answer.
I have Win 8 x64, so i installed the x64 version of the drivers. But no luck.
When i try to use Nokia Care Suit, the programe looks for the latest software (7.8) then it wants to install it on the phone, restarts te phone and then i get a message that the connection has been lost. And i need to turn off the phone, and do that whole VOL UP thing again. But the computer never ever recognices the phone in recoverymode. The Lumia 800 just boots up normally.
Watch out before flashing and losing a lucky qualcomm bootloader

same happening with me...all things same...just i have lumia 710...please help
atlast this worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702815
you have to first upgrade to nokia dload using this...then all will be fine...
I bought my wife a Lumia AT&T 920 off off ebay as an anniversary present(i know, was stupid). Turns out it was a demo unit.
So, after researching a bit, i decided to flash the RM-820 AT&T 1314 update on it through nokia care suite (NCS). As soon as the it started update (red screen on the phone with the progress bar), the flash failed, and the lumia has since been dead.
Issues:
1- doesn't vibrate on any key combinations etc
2- the computer and NCS do not recognise the phone as lumia 920 HOWEVER, the phone shows up as QUALCOMM INPUT DEVICE in Windows 8 as soon i connect the usb cable to the computer with the power and volume down button.
However, this mode does not let me flash to another firmware. The NCS doesn't recognise the phone at all.
Please help!
download firmware with Product code (with Nokia Care Service) and flash it... use NCS v2013.13.4.4 (dont upgrade to newer versions) and change usergroupsconfiguration.cfg before use NCS
Copy and replace the usergroupsconfiguration.cfg file to:
- if Windows x64 (64 bit) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0
- if Windows x86 (32 bit) to C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Product Support Tool For Store 5.0

Thanks - thats exactly what i did. Downloaded firmware for RM-820 AT&T yellow. The problem is NCS doesn't recognise the phone no matter what i do. The phone shows up in windows 8 as Qualcomm input device.
NCS not recognize bricked devices
from WPCentral:
Nokia_Care_Suite_5.0_2012.45.4.5 Directions:
1. Launch Nokia Care Suite
2. Click the Product Support Tool for Store 5.0
3. Click File
4. Click Open Product
5. Choose RM-820 (Nokia Lumia 920)
6. On the bottom left click Programming
7. Click Recovery
8. You should see the firmware you downloaded and copied earlier under the Properties field.
9. Click Start
10. The software will check the package contents, it will fail to find the phone, and ask you to reboot and give you a button to click retry.
Phone Directions:
1. Plug the phone into your PC
2. Hold the Volume Down and the Power button, click RETRY on the Product Support Tools Window
3. After you feel a vibration in the phone immediately release the Volume Down and the Power button and hold the Volume up button.
4. Continue to hold the volume up button, you will see the software say "Rebooting"
5. After about 15 seconds you will see a top NOKIA logo and the software will start flashing the phone.

Thank you for your suggestion - Followed this to the T, but i get stuck at step 4, because there is NO VIBRATION. The computer makes a sound when i connect the phone (in the device manager: these two are added: HID Compliant Device and USB input device).
I have installed all drivers, and before my initial flash, the device was being recognised perfectly
i also have a lumia 920 which is in the exactly same condition.Does anyone have any solution for it.
same problem here, cannot turn on no matter what key combination I use. The same issue after a failed flash (power interruption on my pc). the loader on the screen stood for 10 secs than the phone shut off. ever since no solution to power on, nothing
I'm bumping this thread, hoping that someone somewhere has a solution to this, as I'm facing the same problem.. Is there anything to be done apart from sending the phone back to Nokia?
If it is dead due to flashing then your warranty is void and you will have to pay the full repair price. You will find it cheaper just to replace the phone. Even if they gave you the unlock key it is still a warranty void to alter the phones ROM.

Refurbish option doesn't work, because it doesn't recognise my phone.. To use the refurbish option you need a working phone, and mine doesn't work... Like the other people in this thread it only gets recognised as a Qualcomm HID..

QPST, link http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/flash/mobile_phones/companies/qualcomm/models/qpst/12051.html may work to revive the phone if you have the required files, haven`t used it myself so Google around and/or wait for someone who actualy used it.
any luck?
I also have the same problem
I also have the same problem, and also went to nokia care...
but as there was no extra battery available... he was suggesting battery probem.
As spare parts are not available, the issue is still pending..
Have you taken your phone to service centre?

Go for the risistor method to boot to EDL mode then try to recover it
I have an LG E435g. I tried to flash another version of stock firmware (V20a_00) using KDZ updater tool. It did flash, but my phone is f***d. The screen is totally black (no logo,etc.). My PC recognizes that it is connected, but I cannot load MTP driver for file transfers. It was in debug mode during flash, but isn't now because I can't use adb. Have tried everything in forums, nothing changes. I will pay ANYONE to fix as I am at wits end and know just enough to screw s**t up. Totally unable to get into download mode, emergency mode, etc. Phone is not rooted and the bootloader is locked.
No problem
