Hello Experts,
here is my short and sad story:
brand new Atrix will not boot, can't reset, unresponsive. No I didn't brick it, didn't attempt rooting, unlocking, loading custom rom, etc. All I did after recieving the phone and being happy with it for about 36 hours, I plugged it into my laptop for the night for charging, and morning it was toasted.
What happens now is if I try to turn it on, the green status light comes up for about 1-2 seconds, then goes off, and the phone does not boot. If I plug the phone to a USB port of my notebook, the green status light will be on steadily. Any attemp to turn the phone on will result in the above sequence (green indicator for 1-2 seconds, then goes off, and the phone does not boot).
I tried the so-called hard reset, holding the volume-down button while booting, same results, no difference, no responsiveness. Definitely no boot menu where I could choose the recovery option.
Here comes the worst (for me): I bought the phone on ebay, was delivered to me in perfect condition, so I obviously can't blame the seller. I live in Hungary, Europe, where the official Motorola service hasn't even heard about the Atrix. My phone's warranty is limited to USA/Canada. To go with the required Motorola workflow, I'd need to send back the phone to US ($$$), have it delivered it to a US resident, who will send it to the service and send it back afterwards to me (again, $$$).
So here I'm with an unresponsive device, which already cost me around USD800 with all the shipping fees, EU VAT and whatnot.
I WANT MY ATRIX.
I'm offering a bounty of $50 to anyone who can help me to reset/reboot my phone. The bounty will be delivered either by paypal or by wire transfer to any account worldwide. The criterium for awarded bounty is me seing the main menu of my atrix again, and being the first advice that helped me to get there.
I'll watch this thread actively, however you can reach me on skype: szepeshazi or szepeshazi (at) gmail (dot) com, I'm more responsive on those channels.
Any help will be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Have you tried charging it off the wall yet?
Reason I ask is because you didn't say if you did or not and from my experience, trying to charge from any laptop or desktop, it simply wont charge. It will hold the charge but not charge the phone.
Other than that, maybe somebody else will be able to help you out. Good luck.
Have you tried pulling the battery and putting it back?

No I did not have an adaptor for the differing sockets (US/EU).
However I successfully charged the phone before via USB from 40% to 100%, without any issues (this happened one time).
Thanks for thaking a stab at my problem.
I would still suggest to buy a usb wall charger and see if that works.
Im no expert. Maybe you need this? http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Europe-Wall-Plug-Adapter/dp/B003LYHJ88

Two times. Once I left it undisturbed with battery off for 8 hours, second time for about 22 hours. No change.
"I would still suggest to buy a usb wall charger and see if that works."
I'm doing that now. Grean indicator is steady. Will leave it like that for a couple of hours before attempting to turn the phone on.
Well if you have successful charged it via Computer and mow its not working my first guess is the battery. As we all know the phone should come on when plugged in even if the charge was low. Only other suggestion I would have is try a different Computer or charging source, your drivers my be corrupt.
Take it to your local store and plug it in see what happens.

Sounds promising. Not all USB ports on computers can deliver the juice to charge devices. You might have just drained the battery hopefully.

I have an Alienware Mx17, WTF lol.. I would think this beast to have way more than enough..
To OP, let us know if the wall charger works for you.
Another thought while I'm at it check the condition of your mating surfaces of battery and phone because even if there were no battery installed you'd get the green light I'm sure misrepresenting a full charge

There are so many szepeshazi in skype. Tried sending some IMs. Try it out, it will work. I've had the same issue in the past.
Phone still doesn't work
"I would still suggest to buy a usb wall charger and see if that works."
I've left the Atrix on the usb wall charger for the whole night. Unfortunately I got the same results when I tried to turn it on, it's still dead.
Additional info: when the phone got toasted, it was on the USB port of my notebook, charging. I set the "stay awake" option (or whatever it is called) to have the screen continuously on while on the USB. I woke up in the night and checked on the phone, it was alive and kickin' after about 6 hours of charging. 3 hours later when I woke up again in the morning, it was gone.
@ksekhar : "There are so many szepeshazi in skype. Tried sending some IMs. Try it out, it will work. I've had the same issue in the past."
Username is unique in skype and my username is "szepeshazi". So I'm easy to find. Also, szepeshazi _at_ gmail _dot_ com works. Anyway, why don't you post your sugesstion here?
Checked the mating surfaces, they seem ok to me. Also, I plugged the phone to the another noteebook, a macbook, this also did not change a thing. Thanks for your suggestions, though.

i've had the same problem and posted problem as well as solutino in the same sub-forum Atrix Q&A. Pls have a look. Good luck.
btw, if your skype name is unique you should have received my msgs and hope you manage to fix your phone.
@ksekhar Ok I found your thread, so basically you're suggesting to charge the phone for a couple of hours, then take the battery off for a minute, then reinsert it and the phone will boot?
I'm pretty sure I tried that already, but doing it again now. Will get back to ya all in a couple of hours.
Yeah, this didn't help either, problem is still the same. I guess there is nothing left to do but send it back to the US of A.
That really, really sucks.
Anyway, folks, thanks for your sincere effort trying to help me out.

if it doesnt hold a charge .. try replacing the battery with a brand new one cause you probly OVERLOAD the battery
Going with the last one.
I had this same exact problem. I thought my Atrix had died or been bricked somehow. I called support, stupidly before googling it, they were closed and I was going to have to wait and send it in to have it replaced since I'm still in the thirty day window. I then searched online and it turns out you need to charge the phone with the wall charger, because most computers USB ports don't send enough power to it, similar to what the iPad had issues with. As soon as I borrowed my cousin's iPhone wall charger and plugged it in, it turned on immediately and was up to 15% in like ten minutes...Good luck!
Scroll down to my 3rd comment please.

Hello, i have had my G5 for almost a year now and when i first bought it on 2.1 the battery wasnt the best, but it would last a full day, but now ive updated to 2.2 ages ago and ive noticed how bad the battery has got- its dying in under an hour which is obviously a very big issue.
Also i left it on charge over night and when i woke up this morning and checked it, it was on 19% battery when i checked before i slept and it was on 90%- confused!
Also i have to play around with my charger alot for it to actually work- whilst my usb cable will work with no issues- has my charger been damaged or broke?
The phone keeps doing a random vibrate in a specific pattern- this happens quite reguarly and has done since i updated to 2.2- i have tried factory reseting but that hasnt done nothing, the pattern is similiar to vibrate, few seconds gap, vibrate vibrate, its very annoying.
When i flashed my phone to CM7 and MadTeams Better 2.2 i did not have the vibrating issue- i have flashed it back to stock now.
Also when i close an app or come out of a menu my home screen applications and widgets often disappear for about 15 seconds which is very frustrating.
My phone is on stock 2.2 Froyo- Rooted with Universal Androot.
Thank you very much!
Curtis.
Also sorry for posting plenty of threads here recently!

I had that charging problem on my old phone, it something wrong with your charger. try replace it or use a different one
with your battery problem, how heavily do you use your phone? Maybe because your charger is faulty, you go to charge it, but it doesnt charge properly. if my battery is at 1% and i put my charger in for 10 seconds, it will show 17% charged. this is obviously not charged that much, but could be what your battery is doing, so when it shows high battery level, its actually got a lower one.
Drain your battery
When on 1%, plug in your charger and leave it in until the 'Charged' notification appears in your notification bar. see if that changes battery length.
That sorted my old phone
It seems all you do Jordanooo is help me!
Ill give it a try tonight, and i use my phone just to text friends, phone calls, facebook/twitter and updating applications.
My phone has been charging since about 12pm, its now twenty to 2, and its on 13% charge- my signal is on 50% without- il try airplane trick.
Right i seriously need help now guys.
My battery is completely and utterly- f*cked.
It says it is charging but it doesnt charge- the number changes but it goes for 80% then drop to 70% etc so i can never get a full charge.
I thought i fixed it last night when i drained it and recharged it back to as high as i could get it (94%), unlocked it this morning and it went from 70% when i locked it last night to 50%- and thats not the worst part- i sent 3 texts and it went to 15% battery, yes, 15%.
I am appaled at it and its well and truly put me off buying another Android phone or Samsung phone.
I need help now, if you guys cant fix it for me, my warranty is over from Carphone Warehouse and i cant be arsed with it.
I cant afford to simply go and buy a new phone so please dont say that kind of dumb suggestion.
Thank you.

Well, even i had this problem w/my G5...... it seriously sux.
My phone also loses battery quite fast.... but not as fast as yours.
Switching it off and then plugging in the charger will keep the phone off while charging it. Few seconds after you plug it in, the screen will light up and and show a battery.
Leave it this way till it is completely charged.(Press the home button if the screen goes off).
Best of luck.
Thanks
It works as a short term fix, il charge like it like this until i get a new battery/repair my phone!
Hello everyone!
I'm having a very strange issue since a week or so. I've been googling all over the place for this problem, but can't find someone with similar issues except for the battery drain.
First thing I noticed was that when I connected the phone to the charger, it took about 15 seconds before the phone realized it was connected. It still charges at the same speed as before. It's the same thing when I pull the charger out, it still believes it's charging for another 15 seconds or so. Sometimes longer. Initially I thought this was due to physical damage in that area, but now I'm not so sure anymore.
Now when I turn off the phone, it automatically restarts. The only way to turn it off is by taking out the battery. Sometimes, when I turn it off, it displays an android icon and the text "Downloading..." below it. The phone gets pretty hot and eats battery very fast if left alone. Could this be a virus?
Around the same time period I got a battery problem, If I make a guess I'd say the phone doesn't even last half as long as before. In sleep mode it barely lost any battery whatsoever, but now it just drains a lot. The phone blames it on standby mode, but I read that it could actually be caused by background apps. I don't use Wi-Fi.
So this is what I tried so far. I deleted all apps around the time the issues started, but it didn't help. I also used the autorun manager to disable all the processes I didn't need / didn't recognize. I tried all the antivirus/anti-adware etc I could find, but they didn't find anything.
I'm not sure what's relevant so I'll post kernel/build here.
GT-I9300 bought in Hong Kong in July, Android 4.0.4. My phone is not rooted, no flashing.
Kernel:
3.0.15-570657-user
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Tue Jul 10 22:39:22 KST
Build Number:
IMM76D.I9300ZSALG3
Is this a hardware issue or a virus?
Have you tried restoring the phone to factory settings?

Hi,
I bought a new Galaxy S2, about 20 days ago.
Almost from the first day, my phone started to turn itself off. At first, I assumed that the battery ran out \ I left the GPS on. When connecting the device to charge it I got a warning mark on the charging battery image (a yellow triangle with "!" on it), this warning would disappear after a couple of minutes. This happens almost once a day.
Two days ago, when it turned off (again), connecting it to power supply didn't help. In order for it to start charging I had to get the battery out, and re-connect it.
When I turned it on again - It had battery (more than 50%).
It turns off whenever I don't touch it - at night or when I place it somewhere and it stands still.
I turned off the GPS and bluetooth. I turn on Wi-Fi only when I know it's available, most of the time it's off as well. I don't think that I'm running out of battery (battery consumption for a whole day, while I'm using the phone would be 30% max, but once I leave it after only a few hours it will turn off).
I hope I explained it clearly. I really hope I don't have to get it back to the store :\
Some info about the phone:
Model no. GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel version:
3.0.15-1056084

Thanks a lot!
Given you have warranty & you've never 'messed with' the phone (and if you do start messing with it, you might end up borking the phone/losing your warranty), if it were me, I wouldn't start doing that now. Take it back to where you bought it & have it sorted under warranty. It's a no-brainer.
Update: I went back to the store. They replaced my battery with a new one. I hope it will solve the problem.
Thanks for your help
I bouthg a Samsung Galaxy S2 2 months ago for my wife, and since day one she told me the same thing. At the beginning I though that it was her that did something so I gave it a try for a week and the problem existed, it would shutdown and the only way to turn it on was to take out the battery and put it again, sometimes it would tell me that the battery was only 5% but most of the times it will show 50%. If I would connected to a charger it will also give me the yellow triangle that it would disappear after a while.
So I went to the store, and guess what there is no warranty for the battery (strange Switzerland Samsung Rules) but I told them that I would still want the phone checked out for repair, so after 3 weeks the phone is back, presumably fixed, but after 2 days I saw that the problem was still there. So on my own I bought a new battery to check it out and there was still that problem, that way I could say that it wasn't a battery problem.
After checking a lot in this forum and all over the internet a lot a people told me that the problem was the battery, for me it wasn't but I found a topic that says that this is a problem with the new kernel and rom from samsung .... so with no fear I installed Syiah kernel and now I have TWO good battery's and no problem what so ever!!

I have no active warranty as an Aliexpress seller(3+ years a seller) vanished at Christmas. I've no issue taking it apart if I need to replace the battery. Watching a Youtube first dismantle video it appears I need a BN41. I'm going to go presume that my local multitude of phone shops won't stock that battery as I tried two and one asked "How do you spell that?" and another "a what phone?" so I won't be going down that route again.
Only reasonable price I could see online was some Eastern European country and using Google Translate I find these charge about €27 for the battery but it's not in stock anyway. Another is €48 in china. Seems a little expensive considering a Redmi 3 battery is about €7.
Anyway I'd prefer to see if it's software leading into a hardware problem as well before venturing down the route of battery replacement.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Brought phone into Repair Shop in my City and asked(phoned few days before hand and no problem changing battery) and it was fine until he says "Supplier doesn't have your battery" so I've to go off an buy a replacement. He says that if the phone will show the battery the connection between the motherboard and the battery is not corrupted as such. I'm also looking at "Chargebattery" in the Engineer Mode under Battery and I can see the following as well
ADC_Charger_Voltage :[4626 ]mv
Power_on_Voltage :[3400 ]mv
Power_off_Voltage :[3400 ]mv
Charger_Topoff_value :[4100 ]mv
FG_Battery_Current Consumption:
[XXX.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX]ma ---------The X represents the consumption as it's going from about 230.0000 upwards to about 462.00000 and fluctuating.
I've had to order a Battery from Spain(exact spec battery BN41) and also bought a Micro Precision Toolkit and none of my tools are small enough to get those screws. I can see all the stripdown tutorials but alas none of them referred to the exact size of the screws so I ordered a Multi-tool. Hopefully it is just the battery otherwise it's the cost of the phone, battery, little multitool down the drain.
I did a very small driver to get one of the screws out(not exact fit) but the other wouldn't budge and I don't want to thread the head on the screw so backed off for now.
Same battery issue w/ Redmi Note 4

Hey BertieBaron, I'm having the same issue with my Redmi Note 4, I've bought a new battery from Iberaccess, opened the device and installed the new battery piece but it didn't solve the problem, still switching off as soon as I unplug it... it's driving me nuts!
Have you found a solution in the meantime? I'd be very glad to hear from you mate.
Cheers
Nope. Binned it. One Plus3T arrives by DHL in a few hours.
Emailed Xiaomi offering to pay for repair. They said No.

Gotcha. May I know whether the charging problem emerged after a fall, water damage or out of the blue?

Confirmed to be no Water Damage by somebody with more experience than I. Was it dropped? It was a teenager so anything is possible but there was no evidence of such.
Yes guys i had the same problem now, stuck at zero Percent there's a RED light indicatingit's charging but still ZERO won t go up ...and once i unplug the phone from charger it turns off Instantly ....I foudn the Solution for that it s quite easy as u think .. all you have to do is :
1-unscrew the 2 screws bottom
2-becareful while taking off the cover u need to take off the Sim tray
3-and slowly take off the over there s the finger print sensor cable unplug it
4-once the cover is off u see 2 cable next to each other one of them is for the battery ...Doesn t matter remove them both and hold power button for 20 seconds
5- make sure u do keep holding the power button for 20 seconds .....do that like3 or 4 times to make sure no power is left inside the phone ..
6-plug everything except the sensor and power on the phone and check this worked for me
Once u see it worked turn the phone off and put back the sensor and get everything back to together .....Don t plug the sensor while it s turned on i have no idea if this damages anything!!
Hi everyone, I meddle in the discussion, I have this problem. I have a Redmi Note 4 Global, a few days ago it turned itself off. I tried to turn it on again and it worked, then obviously the battery ran out. Tried to charge it, the screen turned on with the "mi" logo, red led at the top but it gave me completely empty battery with no percentage. I thought it was the dead battery. I changed it to a new one and put it in charge. Now I see Mi logo and 47%, it does not charge the battery unfortunately. Stopped at 47% for hours. The battery therefore does not charge. Even if I connect the phone to the PC, the charge does not start and the PC does not recognize it. What could be the problem?
Thank you

Thanks man. I changed the usb charging circuit and finally it looks like the battery is charging again. But there is a problem: the charging is very slow. Why?

The seller assured me that the circuit is good. In the reviews people didn't complain about the fast charging problem.
I am using the original charger and before changing the charging port, it charged normal and fast.
In what sense to change ROM?
