So is it recommended to be s-off these days? I'm familiar with the Juopunut bear method... But I was wondering what was the current accepted method for being able to flash kernels from recovery as opposed to having to flashboot flash or use flash image GUI.
I used to be quite in love with these devices... Buy I have three that were given to me. I am planning to use this as a WiFi device and the others for messing around with FireFox OS and Ubuntu touch.
So what I'm asking about is: which method would be best to do these.

Just going to go with Juoponut technique and 1.5.0

I did the one click root method after i unlocked bootloader
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
What exactly does this mean?
Now that we are able to unlock, and permaroot, can we put custom roms on it?
I guess what a noob like me is asking is:
What is the relationship between S-off/on and unlocked bootloaders?
Yea I tried that but it didn't work, did I do something wrong?

best way is to flash the amon ra image and that has a built in root function
Where is this great tool called one click root? Is it just a .zip I flash or what?
I used zergrush V3 and it worked perfectly. Search XDA and you'll find it.

I have question about using casual to root and unlock bootloader. After a few trys I was able to root but no success in unlocking bootloader. Ive followed the instructions and watched the YouTube video and nothing. My question is did I get bad download or did Verizon pull another fast one? Or is it simply triail and error.

It may be helpful to say any errors or where it's failing. Also what method are you using? Are you sure it's the newest method by Adam? There are a lot of reasons you may be failing.

It allows you to flash custom ROMs found for example in the Developer sections.

You must not be following directions. There is even a video to guide you through it. Droidstyle's guide works flawless.

I just successfully used Adam's method. It works great. Had to reinstall the drivers before it worked, but other than that flawless. Check out pg 65-66 of his thread for more details.
If you find this hard to unlock, thank god you didn't own a thunderbolt that took near a half hour entering command line prmpts to unlock. Or the rezound that you had to short circuit with a wire in a precise time to unlock.
This phone was cake in comparison.

scrossler decrypted the ruu.exe check it out in designgear's RUU thread in general.
What is a decrypted ruu?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Zip file removed from the exe. Should be flash able from recovery
Awesome, thanks for the tip.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Ok the decrypted RUU is the img files for the OS install. NOT flashable. I should have checked before I said what I did.
So how do you install that onto the phone?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
No idea off hand. I think it would install via stock recovery but don't take my word for it. I just use a vm on my mac to use ruu files
I think I'm just gonna go back to windows. I crashed ubuntu last night anyways.

Update Ur phone then do the moonshine
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium HD app
Look for facepalm
You could use Facepalm S-off, but what I would do in that situation is accept the OTA to Build # 2.06 and use Moonshine S-off. I don't know about Facepalm, but with Moonshine, it S-offs, unlocks bootloader, and roots so that all you have to do is install a custom recovery.
In shorter words, Update your phone and use Moonshine.
And P.S. This belongs in Q&A, not Development. You will most likely get more help there.

ok what the heck 4thed
I used face palm myself but from what it looks like moonshine is easier, so if your new then maybe think about it that way. But if you know your way around ADB, and whatnot then I recommend face palm like everyone above.

?? 4.0.4 not sure which one that is
Its ICS, if you go to Santods forum. Infectedrom.com you can find the way there but there's more to it than the all in one. Its a little harder but not much. You do have to make an account to view the forums though, but that's not really a hindrance.

you need to unlock your bootloader before anything, you can do that at htcdev.com
Thanks!! Excellent referral! Just wish I could find a simple link like that for roms...lol
