So on the CM7.2 instructions, it says
Using the Patched Bootstrap Recovery With CM7DX2
In order to get into recovery with CM7DX2 you ABSOLUTELY MUST download the patched BSR APK located in the download section of this post! There was a problem with the "hijack" name. It is conflicting with the CM7 hijack. NEVER install the original BSR while in CM7DX2! This is a guaranteed way to boot loop your phone! It might not boot loop the first couple of reboots, but it will... Eventually!

He says that I must never install the original BSR while on CM7DX2.
So questions...
1) In MoonShadow-NM's guide: HowTo: Perform a bootstrap (or nandroid) backup and recovery of your Droid X2, is the "Droid X2 Recovery APK" the original BSR that I should not have installed?
2) How was I supposed to perform a nandroid of my CM7.2 then?
You should just be able to download the CM7 BSR.apk from XDA and install that, or flash the rerecovery fix. Personally, I like the RR fix because you dont have to rely on the bsr.apk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426062
there is a link to the cm7 bsr in my list, it work just like the original bsr, it's just a compatibility issue

Ok rite to it I have the old cwr that came out along time ago for the x2, my question is, should I install or need to install the bsr the one signed for the x2 I know the one I have is originally for the atrix, but do I need to install this one or am I fine with the cwr I have now?.I'm thinking of flashing the new molten, I'm rooted, supercharged on 2.3.4.thanks in advanced......

You need both. The ReRecovery is just a flash (zip) version of the exact same cwr. You need the original to flash the new one. They work together. So while wiping data from cwr you can flash it before reboot and renew what you just wiped away. Read the 2nd post of my thread.

edit
Once rebooted you can install bootstrap again if you like. They are compatible with each other.
But you will find it will still work even though its gone. Just plug in and power off. The flashed ver runs from /preinstall and will stay untill another data wipe. Then YOU GET TO FLASH IT AGAIN!
Ok thanks I appreciate the info

We only have one BSR for the x2
Or did I miss something?
Yes we have 1 and a half.
Edit
No two both with crutches.
Or two that are not quite one?

Lol true
it is still the same bootstrap tho
Now we are able to get into it after a ROM flash or data wipe by flashing your creation.
I just can't believe it took this long for someone to create that . Good job
Now I can't wait to see if that can be baked into a ROM zip so that upon flashing a ROM, the last thing it does is install what u made so it's all just one easy step for everyone. For us forgetful types they are so used to just flashing and hitting reboot lol
Forgetting what?

To flash the BSR installer before pressing reboot.
If it was built into the ROM zip then no one would forget and we would have BSR available after every flash
Right. I ment a joke- forgetting...
But yes decompile the recovery binary and hack the RR in, no problem...
I should bE sleeping lol
I'm missing in my face jokes lol....good night
so I installed v6 supercharger and I used the kernel tweaks and now im boot looping.

If you've tried wiping from android recovery and you're still stuck at M, you'll have to sbf.

Get the init scripts I the cm7 .zip and push to correct spot...the set correct perms.
Tapin' the Talk on the xSquared
If you're getting stuck at the M while trying to boot back into BSR, then it means you didn't flash the patched BSR after installing CM7. You must install the new BSR after booting into CM7 if you wish to flash anything after that.
At this point, since you used the V6 Turbocharger scripts (which HAS a disclaimer that it CAN cause bootloops, so I would suggest staying away from it), you're going to have to SBF back and start over since you can't even boot up to even try to fix the issue. If you would have installed the patched BSR after installing CM7, then you would be able to boot into BSR and reflash CM7 to fix your issue.
Factory reset won't help. it doesn't wipe out the init.d scripts which is why that didn't help.
I have installed the patched BSR, and used it so I know it works.

Okay. Usually, the hanging at the M is a sign of using the wrong BSR. I guess at this point, your only recourse is to SBF.
Just remember, the original BSR can be used BEFORE you flash CM7 on. But, once you have CM7, you must install and run the patched BSR before you attempt to reboot into BSR or you get the symptoms you were describing.
I had this issue the first time I used CM7. I ran the APK to install the program, but I forgot to actually RUN the BSR application and tell it to install itself and then click on the Recover button. So, even though I installed the APK itself, I forgot to actually install the recover program to run upon reboot.
Luckily, I wasn't at a boot loop, so I just booted back into CM7 and finished the steps I missed.
The problem is probably caused by the V6 Supercharger script. They may not work with CM7. As well as probably all the other scripts out there unless its modified right.
Thanks for all the input, trying to start the SBF now.
I had BSR all set for CM7, ran the install recovery after loading CM7 and actually installed a zip(speedy V7) after being on CM7.
I removed all those files with speedy and wanted to use V6 because it worked better when i was on eclipse than speedy did. I was running the scripts and wanted to test the waters with the kernel script and thats where i got hung up. all the other scripts in V6 workd great! lesson learned dont mess with kernel tweaks when i get back up!
The I/O scheduler tweak in KAK is known to cause bootloops on the X2

I have rooted my CDMA Droid Razr and use Bionic Bootstrapper to boot into CWM recovery v4.0.1.5 but after I do the wipe and such and try to install any rom (Have tried The Artic 2.3.1 and INFEX 1.1) they seem to complete the install fine but when I reboot I still have the stock rom. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Well your first problem is that you're using bootstrap for the Bionic on a Razr.

Really? It was installed with a one click root option for the razr. What should I use then?

Thanks I got it. I just goggled for the razr bootstrap app and installed it via ADB and now it seems to work. Thanks!
Also make sure you read rom instructions most use safestrap or bootstrap but not both. make sure you are using the right one.
I rooted Droid X2 and am trying to install CM7 but cant get my droid to go into CWM it just goes into the system recovery. I've tried rom manager (v5.0.0.9) I've also tried using Droid X Bootstrapper
.Not sure if i have to delete the systems "recovery-from-boot.p" file. I cant find it either way its not under the /system file
Android version 2.3.4
Don't use rom manager or anything for the x. You have to install our specific one. Here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083
Also once you have installed cm7 make sure to installed the patched bsr or you will run in to issues.

You need to use this MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk while you are still in blur and once you install CM7 use MOTODX2_Bootstrap-CM7-signed.apk

Yea I dont think we can use Rom Manager until the X2 has some some sort of workaround to unlock the bootloader. You'll always just flash stuff through the bootsrtap recovery apps, just make sure you follow the directions as to which one you are to use for the specifc rom.

This. I've actually found that the original bootstrap recovery works more reliably on CM9 than the CM7 version. Maybe it's just me.

Um you're asking for trouble, its only a matter of time. DZK even says used the patch BSR, its required.
Strange I've had the same experience. I'm on pa Rom and can't for the life of me get the cm7 bootstrap to work at all. I have had to use the original recovery also. I have had some strange issues that no-one else is reporting so I'm wondering if has to do with that. Anyone know what problems using the original would cause? I was thinking if it booted into recovery.....it was recovery.......but maybe I'm wrong.
I'm having trouble finding a specific answer to my question so please allow me to be a noob...
I have an X2 running Android 2.3.5 / System Version 1.3.418. I rooted my phone using the automatic method and I've installed system recovery. My question is, can I wipe and flash Eclipse 2.3 directly from recovery on this phone now or do I need to drop back to 2.3.4 like the directions say? Is that out of date?
Also, do I need to get Gapps or is that packaged with Eclipse?
Thanks for the help. I've flashed my Galaxy Tab 10.1 with AOKP, but this is the first time I've dealt with Moto.
Yes you should be able to if you have recovery/bootstrap installed and superuser .if I remember right it has gapps baked in.
don't be scared it's only a phone

Bad Bone, thanks for your reply.
I just did it and everything worked great. Flashing Eclipse is like having a new phone. FYI to other newbs, the instructions in the Eclipse 2.3 thread are wrong if you have 2.3.5. Just use the latest root for that version, install the recovery program once you have root and then boot into recovery to flash the .zip.
It's working perfectly and it's totally awesome. Glad I took the plunge.

The directions were before we had magic md5 so rootkeeper on 2.3.4 before update to 2.3.5 was the only way to root. Now we can root after update.

I have the exact same situation, have root, but a little lost on the eclipes installation procedure..I don't get the boot into recovery part i think..?
download Droid X2 BSR
may have to unzip with 7 Zip
move MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk and rom's zip(do not unzip rom) to sd card
using phones file manager, find MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk and tap on it, select installer, close file manager, go to app drawer, open 'system recovery' app,
tap the "Install Recovery" ,allow root, connect wall charger, tap the "Recovery Mode" button to reboot the phone into recovery
create a backup, wipe data, wipe cache, install zip from sd card (not install update.zip) select rom's zip (X2-Eclipse-v2.3.zip), select reboot, done....
How to video's. sbf, root, nandroid backup, and restore
ok....i'll give it a try..
Thank you very much. will be going for it soon...
it worked!
Thanks to you it works and I am a more experienced Noob!
