Clockworkmod Recovery doesn't boot up - Motorola Droid X2

I rooted Droid X2 and am trying to install CM7 but cant get my droid to go into CWM it just goes into the system recovery. I've tried rom manager (v5.0.0.9) I've also tried using Droid X Bootstrapper
.Not sure if i have to delete the systems "recovery-from-boot.p" file. I cant find it either way its not under the /system file
Android version 2.3.4

Don't use rom manager or anything for the x. You have to install our specific one. Here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083
Also once you have installed cm7 make sure to installed the patched bsr or you will run in to issues.

You need to use this MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk while you are still in blur and once you install CM7 use MOTODX2_Bootstrap-CM7-signed.apk

Yea I dont think we can use Rom Manager until the X2 has some some sort of workaround to unlock the bootloader. You'll always just flash stuff through the bootsrtap recovery apps, just make sure you follow the directions as to which one you are to use for the specifc rom.

This. I've actually found that the original bootstrap recovery works more reliably on CM9 than the CM7 version. Maybe it's just me.

Um you're asking for trouble, its only a matter of time. DZK even says used the patch BSR, its required.

Strange I've had the same experience. I'm on pa Rom and can't for the life of me get the cm7 bootstrap to work at all. I have had to use the original recovery also. I have had some strange issues that no-one else is reporting so I'm wondering if has to do with that. Anyone know what problems using the original would cause? I was thinking if it booted into recovery.....it was recovery.......but maybe I'm wrong.

[Q] Cannot reboot into Recovery

I'm currently rooted and running Eclipse rom on my X2. However when trying to reboot into recovery to install a new custom rom, the phone just reboots completely. I have tried Rom Manager and bootstrap, and both just reboot the phone when choosing Reboot into recovery. I've used Rom manager before with no problems. Its on the latest version and has superuser permissions. How can I fix it?

never ever use rom manager for the x2 its not fully supported yet.
get into bootstrap click install recovery then plug your phone into the wall and then press recovery in the bootstrap...keep your phone plugged in always when using bootstrap or it will not boot into recovery hence the reason why it completely reboots
if done correctly itll boot into bootstrap recovery adn youll be able to flash

Try going to the bootstrap app and hit install and give it superuser permission if it asks. Now plug your phone charger into the wall and connect it to your phone. Hit the recovery button and it should boot into recovery. I think some scripts hijack the recovery script, and reinstalling recovery fixes it.

I wish everyone would stop using rom manager until we are fully supported. Unless I missed something?

ok so I didnt know I had to be plugged into the wall so I tried that and still no luck. Plugged it in, opened bootstrap, hit Bootstrap Recovery, got the Success popup and superuser permission allowed, and then hit reboot. Phone just shows moto logo and then goes to droid eye and reboots. Tried it twice.
I have the droid 2 bootstrap....wrong one? Any ideas?

Yes wrong one. U need the one for ATRIX that was PORTED to work for ours
Check in one of our "how to sbf to froyo and install preroot gb" threads for system recovery apk.
Edit HERE YA GO http://www.mediafire.com/?y19y123n6tauq7s
USE THAT ONE. DELETE THE ONE U HAVE FIRST BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THIS APK.

You answered your own question with this statement! Only use the recovery that is meant for the X2. (its actually an atrix port)
Awesome. I had downloaded the port from the Atrix for the X2 but thought it was weird when it said Droid 2 when I loaded it up. Guess I originally got a bad link. Thanks for the help.

Might have been a bad download. Try and get it again.
You have any other info such as what ROM and/or theme you're trying to flash when you get this? What version of eclipse? You're using the Tenfar bsr? Is it everything you try to flash? May be a bad d/l add L2 said, more info, more help.

I am on eclipse 8.1 and it doesn't matter what I try to flash even stuff I have flashed in the past(I had an old copy of alien on my sd card which I have flashed before.) Even reflashing eclipse won't work. Is it looking like I get to learn how to sbf?
Edit: and what is the tenfar bsr?

Try uninstalling bsr, reboot, and install the app and recovery.
Edit: Tenfar bsr is the typical system recovery app we all use. Just wanted to be clear.

After you reinstalled? Who knows man. Glad u got it fixed. You should add "[solved] syntax error when flashin" to the title so others can use it as a reference should they have flashing issues.
Edit: just seen your update to your previous post. Yea, it's a system app. Forgot. You remove those with either tibu or a file explorer w/ root access, i.e. Root Explorer. They're located in /system/app I believe.

Did u have usb debugging turned off?
I always thought it had to be on in order for bsr to work correctly
Glad its up and going for ya again. Would be nice if we knew what fixed it in case others run into the problem
I didn't do anything just started working

Cannot install roms

I have rooted my CDMA Droid Razr and use Bionic Bootstrapper to boot into CWM recovery v4.0.1.5 but after I do the wipe and such and try to install any rom (Have tried The Artic 2.3.1 and INFEX 1.1) they seem to complete the install fine but when I reboot I still have the stock rom. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

Well your first problem is that you're using bootstrap for the Bionic on a Razr.

Really? It was installed with a one click root option for the razr. What should I use then?

Also make sure you read rom instructions most use safestrap or bootstrap but not both. make sure you are using the right one.

[Q] Question on items needed to change to CM 10

Regarding dragonzkiller's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912280 on [ROM][ALPHA][JB]CyanogenMod 10 Alpha 3 for the Droid X2. I've rooted two devices, the OG Droid and my X2 so I'm not unfamiliar with the process but some of the items I need to get CM 10 on my X2 I'm not sure where to find. In the article it's said I need the following:
-Install the BSR (patched if on an AOSP based ROM, unpatched if on BLUR)
-Reboot into the BSR
-NANDROID
Where can I find BSR and NANDROID? I have Rom Manager and Titanium Backup Pro on my X2 currently. Rom Manager never reboots into recovery for me for some reason and TB Pro does but I don't see an option to select NANDROID.
Any help would be really appreciated! I'm tried of running 2.3.5 all this time.
Dont use ROM manager for that kind of stuff. Best not to use it at all with the Droid X2 actually. The BSR IS the recovery for the X2. It can be found in the CM7 thread. And a nandroid is just a backup of your ROM that you make yourself within the recovery. Its not a file provided. Its a good idea to backup your ROM before installing stuff. That way you can restore it if things go wrong.

Thank you for the reply jsgraphicart.
Good to know on Rom Manager, never has worked right.
I'll go look in the CM7 thread for the BSR, now that you say what it is I might actually have that somewhere after reading when it initially became available.
So if TB Pro can get me into recovery what else do so I can do a nandroid backup? I don't see an option to do that?

You are probably booting into the stock recovery, which doesnt have that option. You need to install the custom recovery (BSR) to do that.

Yes, get it from the CM7 thread. Just install it like you would install an app from your SD card. Its the same thing. Use a file browser app and navigate to the apk file then tap it. It will walk you through the rest. Once you have it installed you will have the app in your app drawer called system recovery or something like that. Open it and follow the directions to get into BSR. You have to have your phone plugged into an outlet though. Even though it says plug your phone into nothing. If your are on CM10, you need a file called hijack.zip and will have to place that in a certain location before using BSR. Check out the CM10 thread. The last few posts were talking about that. And the file was posted on the last page. I hope I'm not forgetting anything.

I'm sorry to ask more questions but I'm finally ready to update and I'm getting an error. First thing I'm wondering is this is one of those things where I have to be on 2.3.4? I'm on 2.3.5.
The error is:
assert failed: run_program("/tmp/check_kernel") == 0
E:Error in /sdcard/cm10.zip
(Status 7)
Are you running CM on your X2? Why is there so little available for the X2?

Well I'm here again asking/begging for assistance. I've been trying all afternoon to get back to 2.3.4 without no luck. Each time I use the CW7 recovery to apply the older ROM it just sits on installing. I'm at a loss, I've even factory reset the thing.

Got to 2.3.4 finally but trying CM10 or the new AOKP build 6 I keep getting messages about signature verification failed. I feel like I'm so close! If I could just get past this latest error.
you flash SBFs with rsd lite
or use ezSBF
if on stock 2.3.4, install bsr/system recovery not cm7 bsr
once rom is installed use cm7 bsr

[Q] Help, I think I installed original BSR while running CM7?

So on the CM7.2 instructions, it says
Using the Patched Bootstrap Recovery With CM7DX2
In order to get into recovery with CM7DX2 you ABSOLUTELY MUST download the patched BSR APK located in the download section of this post! There was a problem with the "hijack" name. It is conflicting with the CM7 hijack. NEVER install the original BSR while in CM7DX2! This is a guaranteed way to boot loop your phone! It might not boot loop the first couple of reboots, but it will... Eventually!

He says that I must never install the original BSR while on CM7DX2.
So questions...
1) In MoonShadow-NM's guide: HowTo: Perform a bootstrap (or nandroid) backup and recovery of your Droid X2, is the "Droid X2 Recovery APK" the original BSR that I should not have installed?
2) How was I supposed to perform a nandroid of my CM7.2 then?
You should just be able to download the CM7 BSR.apk from XDA and install that, or flash the rerecovery fix. Personally, I like the RR fix because you dont have to rely on the bsr.apk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426062
there is a link to the cm7 bsr in my list, it work just like the original bsr, it's just a compatibility issue
