Hello, I am having trouble flashing other roms on my phone. I have CWM and Cyanogenmod running, but whenever I try to flash another rom, the phone just boots back into Cyanogen. Am I missing a step here? My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S 4G, and I am trying to flash the latest ICBINB rom. I've been reading other threads but I just can't seem to find a solution.
Thanks

Could you provide a bit more information? Does the attempt to flash the ROM fail? Do you get any errors when trying to flash a new ROM? If a ROM flash is successful, there is no possible way for the device to boot up with a previous ROM since the system would be completely erased.

Guys, I plan to flash Mui Galnet 1.12.9 from a newly rooted android stock 2.1.
would this be safe ?
or will it cause an issue?
Note: In the Mui Galnet Manual, the international version of Samsung Galaxy S requires 2.2 before flashing.
the first time you flash it, it will boot loop you, pull the battery and use the 3 button combo to get back into recovery, and flash again.

I plan to follow the steps on the website below:

Your suggestion seems to confuse me as to why I have to flash the miui gingerbread rom for a second time. I would appreciate it if you explain your reason.
Because it will bootloop, so you pull battery and reboot into recovery again and reflash the zip back over itself like you would do with CM7. Look at Noob_in_N33d's guide on how rom flash MIUI. It is stickied and has everything you need.
Btw anything from unlocker.com is about as generic as it can come. Use the users guides here. That is what XDA is for, right?
Hello,
I have tried installing cyanogenmod. This worked, but I wasn't happy with it and tried to go back to darky's rom, by wiping to factory defaults, then wiping all data; and afterwards update to darky's rom.
But somehow, my phone isn't starting anymore. I also cannot go into Recovery mode. The only thing that is starting is Downloading mode. How can I get a decent rom installed again? :S
Pls help! I don't know what to do anymore
Can anyone help me out here?
Flash a stock rom and start from scratch

Hello,
I recently put a custom ROM on my Galaxy Player. But I want to put a new ROM on my Player. Do I have to remove my current ROM? Or just flash the new ROM with odin, without removing the old one.
I've been searching on google, but I didn't find any clear answers.
Can someone please tell me this?
Thanks
Nevermind I got this. I just installed the new ROM onto it, without removing the old one. Hope that the right thing..
Yes, but usually you want to do a factory reset deal with it, before and after flashing to new ROM. If you have a Nandroid backup, all you have to do is an advance restore and restore your previous data without all of the hassle.

Factory reset prior to flashing a rom would be enough in my experience... but I guess after wouldn't hurt either... your preference and time...
quick question about flashing these players can we put the roms straight to sd card and flash thru cwr or must we always flash thru odin?
what ROM are you using successfully?
what RoM did you use? Do all hardware features work? (wifi, camera, etc)
Do you have the Player 4 or 5? US Version?
I have the 5" US version and want a newer version of android than the one that came with it. When will 4.0 be available in a custom ROM? Any ideas?
klins rom with u.s. steve kernel 4.0 u.s
I think he was asking when an ICS port was gonna be available.
So far people are having a hard enough time getting CM7 or CM9 to port to our devices. So if ICS does make it to us, it's still a ways out.
so does anyone know if we flash just thru odin or can we flash thru cwr as well?
How do you get clockworkmod recovery?
My samsung galaxy player 5.0(U.S. Version) isn't listed on cwm?

You can just flash Entropy's kernel with odin and it'll give you cwm. After you flash just turn it off and hold the volume up + power until it says Samsung, then you let go of the power button and that's it.
So ,im sorry but its a long story. Hopefully someone can help. My note is Rooted Ive been using TWRP. Everything had been fine until 2 days ago. I tried flashing a ROM i found on Goomanger.( I had been running liquid smooth) just wanted to try something different. Anyways it got stuck on a boot loop. Cant remember the name of the Rom. Anyways i was able to get back to recovery, thankfully. But when i wiped and flashed back to liquid smooth it would say optimizing apps, then it would reach a certain number then reboot and star all over again. So then i tried another Rom and the same thing happened. tried flashing back to stock rooted but it would turn on then completely crash and star booting up again. So finally i was able to flash paraandroid 4.1.2 and Gapps, but here is the kicker i have no service (AT&T) says cannot locate network, my IMEI is gone basically the cellular isn't working. Everything else works fine WiFi,apps, camera. Just cant make calls. I really need your guys help please.:crying:
If you have a suggestion please let me know, i hate using an old Iphone

Just odin back to stock. Get a complete factory stock image from the main sticky thread and flash it with Odin and Download Mode. There's a bug on one of the TWRP versions with 4.3-based ROMs that will put it into a bootloop by breaking device reboots. I was unable to flash my way out of the problem and was forced to do a complete reimage which solved all the problems and put me right back to clean-out-of-the-box state, then I reinstalled TWRP (though an older version before the boot loop bug) and re-flashed my custom ROM. The package I used was the stock image and Odin tool all in one .exe, just plug in to download mode and run it and it flashed bootloader, recovery, system, kernel, etc. all back to stock.

Thanks thats what i did, I just basically had to use KIES to use the emergency recovery, then root my phone again. My question is what version of TWRP causes this? cause i used the newest version i could find off GOO. My other concerne is, will it accept or be safe to use a custom ROM? Well i gues ill find out  THANKS AGAIN!
Everyone with the sgh-i717 is having problems with the latest TWRP and the most stable version is 2.5.0.0. Go with that one or you'll be starting all over again I imagine. And don't just stop at the download link in the OP's, read the thread and find out what's going on. The problems with TWRP have been going on for a while and the development threads have a lot of comments about the latest build causing problems. Good luck! :good:
desperate with bootloop on GF850F
hey guys!
i'm really desperated now, i'm trying for two days to flash a new rom on my phone and troubleshoot the problems.
my phone have a bootloop and i cant break through it. i want to install a custom rom (SM-G850F Galaxy Alpha OzcanRom Aroma Lollipop v2.5 (07.08.2015)) and followed all steps correctly, but something went anyway wrong.
maybe there was a crc error while download the rom, i didnt know it because i deleted the old file and downloaded a new. now i have the problem that i cant upload it to my phone, i tried to update to the newest adb (1.4.2.) (and using this tutorial).. but when i want to push it to the phone, the console output is: "error: closed". so i googled for more information and how to fix that and came to a thread here on xda , but nothing will work.
normally i'm able to handle technical problems, i've rooted and installed custom roms on a few phones.. but this time, i'm feeling like a real noob. i'm sure, this is just a little problem and i'm only to fixed on the wrong place.
if somebody could help me, i would spend a little reward for the hero who saved my day!
What should work always is flashing stock ROM for any region with Odin. This should produce a bootable phone. Then you can go for TWRP and flash OzcanROM.
Keep in mind that you can't install OzcanROM over a 4.4.4 ROM because Ozcan is 5.0.2 based and you need the stock bootloader for 5.0.2 on your device first. This is also done by flashing stock ROM with Odin.
For fast downloading of the 5.0.2 firmware try SamFirm.
