Developers Help Please!! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been doing just fine with ADB, etc. I have been flashing for a long time and now all of a sudden ADB is not working. I've installed SDK twice, unistalled and installed drivers. Did everything. I get it that this just won't work on Windows 7 so I'm back on XP where I never had a problem and currently am. Yes, debugging is on on the phone too. I'm above the basics. When I plug in an LG it just says sooner ADB (something like that and I know your familiar). When I plug in a Samsung device manager says Samusng Android Composite ADB interface. And when I direct the driver install to winsub inf I always get "the specified location does not contain information about your device". Also ADB devices is not recognizing anything either. I event tried this with the Samsung in download mode.

Don't not think this will not work on windows 7. I have used windows 7 on all my Android devices and adb always worked as long gone as it was set up properly.

I'll try again when the system with Windows 7 is up. Right now I have to wait till I get the charger for this laptop back.

Windows 7 does not recognize Folio 100

Hello, I hope you can help me solve the following problem.
When I try to connect Folio 100 to my PC, this is not recognized as a device and I can not start the adb.
Adb All information displayed in universal bus driver and not as a device.
I suspect there is an error with the driver used by Windows 7, but not how to fix it.
If anyone has a solution, I would be grateful if you share with me.
Greetings to everyone who has read this message

I can't go into specifics - but having dealt with over 30 seperate folio's for a certain company beginning with t and rhyming with froshiba, I can confirm sometimes a device may just not work and be recognised by a windows machine. Not worked out what causes it, but ADB just can't see the device. Put it on a different windows machine and it will work perfectly. I believe putting it in fastboot mode does get round that, but when working in the OS mode you are pretty stuffed unless you change computer.

It worked for me right until I restart my folio to get out of fast boot then the device is gone from android adb devices. Any idea why?
hmmm and again it is connected, driver is right loaded, but fastboot and adb don't see the folio....

(Q)Can't get Fastboot to work

ok. I'm tired so go easy on me. I'm running Windows 7 32bit. I have Dell PC Suite installed. I've got the full SDK installed. I've also got the R288920 drivers installed. I've been trying (since 3.00am) to get Fastboot to work and it would seem no matter what i do i just cannot. My Streak (Steve's 1.90) shows up in Device Manager as "Android ADB Interface". I've tried all 6 usb ports on my pc. I've tried Adb Composite. Adb Bootloader. Adb Interface and nothing works. I should also mention i had to do a clean install of Windows yesterday and prior to that Fastboot worked fine. I'm a semi-noob and i'm convinced that this is a driver problem. My question is this, can someone please tell me where i've gone wrong? As the man with the steering wheel down his pants said to the Doctor "this is driving me nuts".
Problem solved. Fastboot file was corrupted.

ADB failing to install?

So I just got an Atrix and im trying to root it, however when I plug it in, after setting USB Mode to None and turning on the USB Debug, ADB drivers fail to install. It shows up in my device manager with a ! ontop of the icon, and windows tells me it cant find a driver. I manually downloaded the drivers but that still didnt help, my phone isnt making a connection of the bridge. Ive wiped everything everything motorola related, reinstalled the drivers manually, reinstalled the ADB driver manually, rebooted about 10 times and now im absolutely stuck.
Has anyone run into this before? Im going to try plugging the phone into my work computer today, but id like to be able to get this working on my home computer. I followed the guide thats available out there that tells you to run the driver installer and delete all the files it shows, and that didnt help either. Im on Windows 7 but i also have a laptop with Ubuntu available, however i couldnt find a rooting guide for linux so im not sure if that will help.

32 bit.
Tried on 2 different PC's, my home computer and my work computer. ADB driver fails to install on both. Both running windows 7 32bit.

I got it sorted. Installed the ADB driver manually (choosing the regular adb driver NOT the composite driver) and then ran super one click to start the ADB service. Then once the phone was connected, ran aroot and it worked.

Windows 8 driver issues

It seems no matter what I do I keep getting device not recognized. I have tried installing all the drivers via kies, I have turned on usb debugging, uninstalled stuff on the pc. I just can not get this to work, I am using the cable that came with the device and have tried different ports.
It look's like I might be having this issue with windows 7 as well. I am now at least getting it to some times show up in device manager. Currentley when I set it to PTP it pops up as a MTP USB Device but has the error symbol. If I do MTP it shows up as SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device with the error.
For people with windows 8: Once you have the driver downloaded, right click on the file and go to properties. Go to the compatibility tab. Put a check next to run this program in compatibility mode. Choose Windows 7 from the drop down window. This should allow you to install the drivers. Kies never recognized my device, but Odin did. I am now rooted. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
I have a little different problem (also windows 8).
This is a custom built desktop tower that i did a clean win8 install on and it doesnt respond at all when I plug in my N2. Absolutely NOTHING happens, although it works just fine plugged into my wifes LT with windows 8 and I didnt even install any drivers in it.
This same tower works just fine with my two galaxy 3s.

Where can you find the driver? All I can find is using keis to install drivers. If you go to the site it only has a pdf
usb driver

I have Windows 8 Pro x64 (clean installed) on a custom built tower, and haven't had a single issue using ODIN to flash beans rom, or any problems mounting the device to read/write files. I didn't have to do anything crazy or custom to get it working either.. just installed the drivers in the thread about rooting the phone originally with ODIN.

We are both running with the exact same setup. I built my PC and am using enterprise on the custom build. My laptop at work I am using pro. The drivers provided on the rooting page do nothing for me either. This is so frustrating, and when I had the note 2 on sprint it worked just fine. I am starting to wonder if the issue is the phone.
I had some troubles with my galaxy nexus on win 8 too, with similar rig to yours. I'll see what happens over the weekend when I get my Note set up.
Factory restore fixed the issue.
But still no kies
For anyone having problems, I think this should fix it after the reboot. Let me know.
How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
Didn't do anything for me :/. My phone doesn't even give me the option to go into other modes to interface with my pc. My windows 8 machine sees the device as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM but says that it is missing drivers. When I try and get it to automatically search for drivers it comes up with nothing even when my system has samsung drivers sitting on it. I have tried it on my Windows 7 machine also and it has had similar results. It's strange because Odin sees my phone. I was able to flash root66 rom on it but after that nothing, I can't even get a factory image back on it, it'll only accept root66.
Try using a USB hub. That worked for me on my Win8 machine. I tried factory reset and it didnt work. I also tried re loading windows and it still didnt work. I plugged into a usb hub and my pc recognized my phone....

It's not an issue of your phone. It's an issue of Window 8. This might work but I can't guarantee you 100%.
You may try to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps:
a. Right click on setup file.
b. Click on Properties.
c. Click on Compatibility tab.
d. Put a check mark on Run this program in compatibility mode for.
e. Select Windows 7.
f. Put a check mark on Run this program as an administrator under Privilege Level.
I had already done all that. Upon factory restoring it worked without a hitch. I had the same issue on pc's running win7

[Q] Nexus 9, TWRP and the old Win8.1 MTP issues

Hey there,
Today I got my new Nexus 9 and wanted to install a custom ROM the old-fashioned way - so I unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP, rebooted to recovery, did a factory reset and then realized TWRP's MTP is not recognized by my PC running Win 8.1
This is pretty infuriating, since I already wiped everything, including the stock rom (yes, I know that was not the smartest move, and I also know Win8.1 has a lot of issues dealing with MTP and bad drivers)
Now I tried every possible fix I could find during the last couple of hours, I tried kicking out the "Andoid ADB Interface" in the Device Manager and reconnecting, getting the newest Google USB drivers and fiddling around with the other drivers listed in the Device Manager.
"Nexus 9" is still listed as "Unspecified" under Devices and Printers, Claiming to use "Android ADB Interface", "MTP USB Device" and "USB Composite Device" drivers.
I'd be very glad if anyone had some advice for me - if there is some information missing I'd be very happy to provide it.
Update: I got desperate and just turned MTP off and on in TWRP and suddenly at least Win seems to recognize the Nexus 9, internal storage is completely empty, though and when I try to copy a file it starts without throwing an error but the progress bar stays at 0. In Devices and Printers it shows up as simple "MTP"
Have you allowed unsigned drivers?
