I thought I'd done enough research into all this, but I guess maybe not.
I used Moonshine to s-off my Droid DNA and everything worked as described no problem. I then installed CWM and made a backup. I then went to install Viper on the phone using this guide.
I got to step 2 in this part of the process:
*WARNING* Although you don't have to, but if you do choose to use the recommended Step 3 which is found below, it will wipe all of your games and apps including saved game data and such. Don't worry all of your photos and music will be fine. Make sure to sync your contacts with your Google account**
1. Scroll down to -advanced and hit power, then do as follows
- wipe dalvik cache
-***go back***
2. Scroll down to -mounts and storage and hit power then:
-format system
-press your back key on the phone to go back
3. Scroll down to -wipe data/factory reset and hit the power button
"you can skip this process but it is a highly recommended one if you want less bugs in the ROM" (If you decide to skip make sure you you also -wipe cache partition which is in the same menu)

I was ready to do step 3 when I saw the warning above about syncing my contacts with my Google acount. This is where I did something really stupid. I rebooted the phone so I could sync those contacts. I thought I was alright because I had a backup if something went wrong.
However now my phone is stuck on the white HTC screen. I've tried to get into the bootloader to restore my backup by holding down the vol-down and power buttons, but it just goes back to the same white HTC screen.
Am I totally screwed here?
I had that problem once ,first how much battery did you have before maybe want to charge to full. Then hold power till lights flash and turns clear off. Then try power volume, it worked for me. Good luck

It had around 56% battery I believe. I've been letting the phone charge for a few hours. Tried holding power till buttons flashed & then let it power off. Then I held power and down-volume, and I got the same white HTC screen.
When I run adb devices, this is what I get:

Oh, another thing, don't know if this is useful... When I plugged in the phone to the computer, HTC Sync Manager came up with a pop up that says:

I'm open to any ideas at this point, because I'm lost as to what to do to fix this.
Is it this one? If not, can you tell me the title or give a link?
Thanks so much for your help!
EDIT: I downloaded the toolkit from the link I posted above, and tried everything in the kit. However they all resulted in a "device not found". Can anyone advise me? Is my phone bricked? If so, is there any recourse other than buying a new phone for $600?
Thanks for any light anyone can shed. It's much appreciated.

Thanks for pointing me to that thread, Ryan. I tried their advised solution, with no luck.
The problem is I can't get into CWM on my phone at all, just the white HTC screen, nothing else. And when I try "adb devices" the device isn't found. When I plug the phone in the computer tries to install a driver (and fails).
I did find this though, so if it's unfixable by me with help from you guys, at least there's hope.

I dont think its bricked. If your computer is seeing it then something is working on the phone its just not showing up. I have had that problem before with cm10 it would stick at the animation screen and then after awhile my computer would see it.
Honestly i think its just a matter of finding the right thing to get it to go. I had to let my phone completely die before it would do anything. So you may try that before spending $60.
Good luck
I dont think your phone is bricked either, if it turns on that usually means there's still hope. However I think zarboz offers a free JTAG for XDA members if worse comes to worse.
I would recommend going on the irc and getting some live help.
Honestly I would turn it off for a while, then just keep trying and keep trying to get into fast boot. Can you still turn the phone off and get it to charge? You can also try plugging it into your charger, turning it on and off, unplugging it, turning it on and off, etc. I know that sounds weird but I've had weird situations like this with a few devices sometimes that type of just screwing around would eventually get it to work.

Thanks for the help guys. I let the phone drain out last night, and I plugged it into the charger this morning. It does still charge, and I got it to start up. However, it goes to the same white HTC screen. As long as the phone has power, I can't even get it to stay off. The only way I can get it to turn off is to push both volume buttons and the power button at the same time and hold them down till the buttons flash. Then it will turn off, but a couple seconds later, it turns back on and goes to the white HTC screen. If I try to power off any other way--with just the power button or power button + vol-down button, the buttons will flash but it won't power off.
I even tried plugging the phone into every different USB port on my printer and executing "adb devices" and the phone never came up as a device. But my computer still tries (and fails) to install drivers when I plug the phone in, and HTC Sync loads and gives me the same error message.
I just had some limited success! I plugged the phone into my computer, and tried powering on again with power+vol-down, and the phone went into Fastboot. However, it's still not detected by "adb devices". What should I do?
Thanks for the help guys!
I guess you can't get to recovery in fastboot

If you got it into hboot(screen shows fastboot etc)then u r good. Fastboot uses fastboot not adb to flash things. First try going into fastboot at the hboot screen and hit power button on fastboot and recovery should.be there. Ifthat doesnt work then flash a new recovery. Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. then use fastboot menu as above to enter recovery. Fastboot devices to verify connection.
Thanks so much for all the help guys! I was able to get into Fastboot and restore my backup I'd made, so I'm back up and running. I'm really glad I didn't brick my phone! I was really worried there for a while!

[Q] Stuck at "Dual Core" splash and can't get into recovery!! Assistance please?!
Hey all. I have been on the forum for a while and have never had any issues I couldn't find of fix by searching the threads. I am stuck now and decided to sign up. First off I appreciate all of the time the devs put into making life easier for us.
I have the Razr and had successfully installed Gummy. I had bootstrap installed but wanted to give safestrap a try. I thought I had uninstalled bootstrap and successfully installed safestrap, since I was in the safestrap menu. I kept getting a blank screen after reboot, so I disabled safestrap and now I am stuck on the "Dual Core" screen. I have rebooted using the power+volumn buttons, but it still goes back to the "Dual Core" screen. I can't connect to my computer to utilize any programs. I have searched through a lot of the threads, but with most of the issues people can still get into recovery mode. I am lost. Any suggestions? I feel like I screwed up the bootloader in some way.
Look for rsdlite. It is flashed through fast boot. If your battery isn't low you should be fine with that.

I also can not get into fastboot.
I have also installed the drivers for the Razr, and have attempted to use adb to load into fastboot. It says device can't be found.
Does anyone know if I return it to Verizon, since I still have protection plan, if they would be able to see the installed ROM even though I cant get to it?
You should able to get in able fastboot even if you have bootloop.
When you long press power + volume up and down to reset and the screens turn black press the same combo again.
There after you should able to get in fastboot.
If you cant flash roms with rsdlite, try with this tool.

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I have the same problem. None of the fixes above got it past the "Dual Core Technology" screen. One thing to note in my case though, the battery is completely dead, it won't do anything without being plugged in. Perhaps that is why it won't go past Dual Core in my case?
[edit] I had given the Razr to my girlfriend's daughter for Christmas and I am not sure what she did to it between the holidays and the time it broke. I would like to get it working again, but for now I sent her my old Xperia Play. I've moved on to a Galaxy SIII myself.

Use a factory cable to charge battery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997965
I don't have access to one. I don't think the battery will charge anyway. It was not holding a charge when it was off and I think eventually it just got to the point that it didn't even have enough juice to start up. I don't know exactly of course because the phone was not in my possession.
I think that I damaged the battery when I had the unit taken apart before to dry it out. I did have to bend it quite a bit to get it unstuck.
I'm going to try a new (to me) battery and go from there, I saw some on eBay for around $25.
okay! so I have a S-on amaze 4g. Unlocked bootloader and have clock work recovery, Im also on tmobile. I was running Bulletproof's rom v2.5
so yesterday I was looking at some roms and I came accross mike 1986's android revolution ROM that was based on tmobile's sense 3.6 and android 4.0. I decided to ditch my current ROM and go for mike's ROM instead
Well last night I followed his instructions. Put the PH85IMG, Rom and Super wipe to my phone's SD card. I booted into bootloader and it loaded the PH85IMG but it didnt seem to have done anything so it loaded back to bootloader. I selected "Recovery" and booted into recovery. I deleted my files and cache using clockwork recovery. Then applied the Superwipe zip then installed the ROM. It said it installed the rom and then I proceeded to reboot my amaze 4g. Ok I rebooted my phone and it got stuck on the HTC screen for some quit time WITHOUT THE QUIETLY BRILLIANT. So i decided to redo this all over again. and again the same problem happened. stuck on the HTC logo. so I took out my batterys and went to bed since i wanted to get some shut eye
now this is where my problem comes from. When ever I turn on my phone it wont turn on! i wanted to boot into bootlader but when ever i press on the power button with the volume rocker down it wont start up. So i plug in my USB cable and the LED that indicates charging comes on. and my computer detects the phone... i click on the search capacitive button and the phone disconnects from my computer and it boots into the HTC screen and the screen turns blank
if anyone can help me please help.

I tried the same rom yesterday and it failed for me also. I've seen quite a few fails on it. Mine didn't die like yours, mine just froze on the splash screen. I had to pull the battery and hboot and re install my recovery so I could restore my backup. Does anything happen if you pull the battery and try to get into bootloader?

You might have to get an external charger to charge your battery, or if you know anyone to swap batteries with to charge yours and try theirs to see if it's just a dead battery. Sounds like it might be.
Download the latest RUU for your phone. You said the computer detects the device see if the RUU will see it as well. Hoping that it does just run it and it will flash your phone back to stock stock and you may have to unlock and install clockwork again but if it works you'll have a working phone again good luck chief

If i recall, you were supposed to lock the bootloader before you placed the PH85.img, because it wouldn't recognize the file without it on an S-On device. Also, where you using Xboarder's Clockwork recovery touch? or an older version?
Try this and tell me what happens. Change your phone by your computer USB and turn it on by search button and "HOLD THE DOWN VOL BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME" try it a couple of times.

This morning I was transferring a couple files from my computer to my phone sd card via usb, something I've done a million times. All of a sudden I heard that sound the computer makes when you disconnect via usb and my screen went black. So I disconnected the usb cable and pushed the power button to wake it. No dice. So I held the power button in like I was turning it on. No response. I let it sit for a while, still nothing. I can't boot into recovery or anything. It's like the phone has no power what so ever. The phone had a full charge, so the battery is not dead. When I plug the phone into the charger, the indicator does not come on.
Any ideas? Am I bricked just from a transfer????

An unfortunate problem with the very first batch was an issue where the phone would suddenly go onto a reboot and never come back on, it wasn't very common but enough of a problem for HTC to revise the hardware before selling any more of them. If you had an original it might explain why it suddenly happened, it happened in stock and custom. Nothing you could you could of done if it was an early model

I was @ work when I posted that response. What I wanted to add was the unbricker didn't work for me, mainly because I bricked my device downgrading firmware and the unbricker seems to be for specific brick related to lazypanda. AFAIK the unbricker will work if you bricked using lazypanda , as for phones bricked another way I don't think so.
Also my replacement came with 1.15 hboot . The sprint tech let me power up all the LTE's he had to check the boot loaders. No luck
Remember when we were on preorder someone posted an article about this phone being unbrickable. I haven't a lot of experience with android devices but it seems there are a considerable amount of bricks. Does anybody think this phone is bricking more or less than previous devices.

From what I can tell the hardware id hasn't changed and I got the info from a sprint tech who received over 25 phones in a month with that exact issue and from people who can't figure out their voicemail much less unlock and root
Also plenty of phones with screen discoloration and a few with faulty proximity sensors

No I didn't. I thought the phone had to at least power up to do anything. It won't power on period. The computer doesn't recognize it when it's connected. Sprint couldn't even do anything with it.

You might need to restore it to factory setting with an external method 'cause your phone wasn't rooted or unlocked. Search for the RSDlite method to flash the original rom. You will need to download a specfic sbf depending on the operator of your phone, but there's actually a post in the forum where they hold every sbf

No there isn't. SBFs have been taken down because they're too dangerous and using them often results in bricking the device. You'll probably have to look for SBFs elsewhere.
Is there any way to save the data on my phone?
Doubt you can save data unless you can get it recognized through adb. Have you tried the other boot modes other than fastboot and rsd?

I tried recovery mode again and while the phone was plugged in it just said "Entering Android Recovery Mode" i unplegged it and the android guy with the explanation point showed up so i plugged the phone back in real quick (didnt want the battery to die.) With that screen i tried tapping in the lower right hand corner of the screen to access the menu, but nothing would happen from that point.
UPDATE: I was able to press both volume buttons and get into the menu. I was able to select wipe/factory reset buy pushing the power buttong. It is currently rebooting.... has been for several minutes..... Hope this works!!
i tried making a factory cable last night but, it didnt turn out to good..... Is there anyway to charge the battery enough, without the phone, to allow me to flash the device?

Would i be better off purchasing a factory cable off of ebay or something, or buying an charger to fully charge my battery and try flashing that way?
Hello everyone,
I seem to be facing a singular issue, but I imagine it is much my fault, and just wanted a confirmation from those more experienced with the device...
I bought an Incredible 4G from eBay, that already had the a copy of Avatar on it, I believe almost the latest update. So when I confirmed the device worked after charging the battery, I flashed the latest copy of Avatar and the JB Gapps, and everything seemed hunkydory.
So, after that, I put in my old SIM, deactivated as I was using a non-4g device, and put it in the Incredible 4G. I started the activation process on the phone, following prompts to reboot the phone (Note: I did not know about CM10.1's issue regarding activation at the time, so one of the possible problems.)
After seemingly failing to activate after the first reboot, I "tried again" and it went down for another reboot. And it stayed down. Completely. I cannot get the phone to start, after charging the battery separately, cannot get into bootloader, nothing. I get QHSUSB_DLOAD when plugged into a computer using USB, but that's it.
A few notes: first time I started up, the screen went to recovery. I didn't think that was an issue; I factory reset from there, and rebooted into Avatar. Second issue: I used ROM updater on the phone to download and install the recovery, as I imagined that there was an automatic checksum done in the process (perhaps it was imagined?), and so when it went to flash, it had some issue, which didn't seem like a problem with the download, and I went through flashing it normally through recovery. Sorry I can't provide more details on that, but everything seemed to work all right after rebooting.
Finally, and this may be irrelevant, I put a 64GB SDXC card in the phone, I had already realized that it could not natively support exFAT, and so left the card in the device until the next time I could boot to recovery to partition it, and went through the activation process with the card inserted and not recognized.
So, I imagine that I have a hard brick, but can't tell if it's completely my fault, because it bricked in a peculiar fashion, at least from what I can tell, as no one seems to have encountered a similar issue after searching for the last 5 days.
If there's any hope for recovery, I would really appreciate some help regarding the device. I'm willing to provide some more info if necessary, and I'd like to find out sooner rather than later if it's a lost cause.
Thanks for any help you guys can give. XDA devs are awesome.
Quite the predicament. Just to clarify, have you tried the following?
1) Remove that super-big MicroSD
2) Remove SIM
3) Remove battery and wait a few minutes; also press the power button while phone is off
4) Only re-inserting the battery, hold vol-down and then hold power until screen comes on (then release power but keep holding vol-down)
I have tried them all; no SIM or SD card has been in there since the issue started. I hadn't tried pushing the power button while the battery was out, but it doesn't seem to change anything. So far, no reaction whatsoever even when holding power + vol down for a few minutes.

You can't do fastboot if you can't reach the bootloader, and I've been assured the unlimited.io tool will not help for DLOAD resulting from non-racun related procedures.
Reading forum posts about QHSUSB_DLOAD suggest either jtag is necessary (which might not be worth it considering the phone can be purchased for $150 on ebay) or some strange strokes of luck after letting the phone sit for a bit. ChiqOmar, sorry I don't have great advice; do all the reading you can about QHSUSB_DLOAD mode.

yes sounds like he is stuck in QSHUSB_DLOAD mode, but i don't know if the resolutiion on unlimited.io will help him or not.they say it's not supported for other reasons other than from running their exploit. it might work though.

i was able to bring my rezound back after a hard brick with a hex edited hboot that went bad with this tool but ported for rezound. its worth a try?
Thanks for the help everyone. Yes, although it states quite clearly that the Unlimited.io tool is only meant for devices bricked using their tool, I tried it anyway; obviously, nothing changed.
Though JTAG sounds interesting, I have no idea how to get started with that...nor do I really know if I want to travel down that route just now.
The HTC Unbricking Project sounds promising, but also no idea how to get started as it has not been ported for our device. The partitions don't get mounted in Ubuntu, as I connected it to the computer to use the Unlimited.io tool.
Finally, regarding the nature of the brick itself, I really wish I could pinpoint the issue better to help others if a similar issue happens in the future.
I am actually waiting on a battery, (ordered before I got the phone) and so will try that to see if anything changes.
Thanks again everyone. I've got a feeling I might have to write this one off pretty soon.

I lost my first Dinc 4G LTE after I installed CM10.1, was working great for a while and just blinked off, never to recover. No charge light, no response to power button. I also had an aftermarket battery (Hyperion), but it would get so hot charging I replaced it with an OEM HTC battery. I think that damaged the phone.
Since I work with analog electronics, I assume something in the power path physically burned out. I never tried to talk to it via USB, but just cabling it to a computer generates no response.
I went back to the Stock RUU.zip from the unlimited.io site to get the firmware update. During the update it just sort of died. Now I can't get it to charge or get into the bootloader. Help! Please!:crying:
