Galaxy tab 2 white headphones mod - Galaxy Tab 2 Accessories

So I want to turn the galaxy tab 2 10.1 white headphones into a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm Jack WITH the control still intact.
Anyone know of any guides or links?
So currently it's looks like the pics below - 3.5mm to control (on one headphone wire) to headphone.
I want it to go 3.5mm to control to 3.5mm.
Now just to confirm because I think I do need to strip both headphones - for left and right audio.
The reason for this mod is so I can control the tab 2s volume while driving.
Thanks in advance

Hello, I can't say I understood everything you said, but I will do my best.
It's going to be complicated, because even if you use an P2-RCA adapter, the commands are set up with some specific resistances applied through the wire itself.
Why don't you look for a bluetooth solution? Like the Nokia BH214 (or BH111), for example. You just pair it with the Tab, and plug the sound output into the amplifier.
PS: I have never tried such bluetooth device, but I've read that it works with most Android devices.

Bluetooth audio quality is poor I've tested in the passed and isn't the best audio with the ease of connection.
Yes it has something to do with the internals of the control so I'll most likely cut the headphones and link the left and right headphone wires together and solder to a 3.5mm jack
Probably the easiest way.

Headphones for TP2

Hi all,
Can the TP2 support headphones from the iPhone? By that, I mean controlling the phone and mic coming from the 3.5mm jack?
If so, can anyone suggest a set of buds that work well?
Thanks1
Well, I answered my own question today. iPhone headset plays back audio, phone calls, but the mic does not work.
So we're still left with the question: what headset will work?
i am using HTC RC E100 as headphone adapter. It's remote controller with 3,5mm jack on it... pretty cool thinngy but with pretty ****y cable (
ditto the HTC E100. Controls plus mic. I soldered a pair of etymotics drivers onto a shorty 6" cable that allows me use with the TP2 (via the E100) or my ipod (via a headphone extension).

3.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor with media controls??

I have been looking for an adaptor to plug my own headphones into that includes media controls (+the normal microphone, pickup/hangup etc). The one from HTC themselves HERE only includes a pickup/hangup button and mic.
I tried the headset from the wifes Nokia N86 which has media controls and a 3.5mm plug to use your own headphones. The controls didnt work so I cant just get one designed for a Nokia.
I have seen the guide on how to rewire the existing headset with your own earbuds but I am reluctant to go chopping up my headphones and headset.
Has anyone got one and where from?
Buy an extra pair of the stock headphones and chop them up. Instead of soldering on new ear buds, solder on a female adapter to plug your preferred headphones in.

i too would like to know if anythings out on the market for this. there must be an easier way round this than having to chop and put back together different buds and cables......
hadn't thought about putting a female connector on a spare headset Might take a trip down Maplin at the weekend.Would be better if someone would make 1 though.

[Q] How to 3.5mm microphone input with 3.5mm stereo output?

What I need to do with my atrix is plug in a microphone via 3.5mm jack and playback over 3.5mm output to stereo. I've seen adapters to plug in with stereo 3.5mm and microphone 3.5mm to 1 3.5mm jack. I know the atrix has multi functions on the 3.5mm jack. I wasn't sure how I could harness this function within the Android OS?
So I plan on getting a studio quality microphone with a standard 3.5mm jack. I'll be plugging this into the atrix by a 2 way dongle if that's possible? Input/output dongle? Then it'll be outputting the audio from the microphone to the speakers for amplification or whatever output source of choice.
Usually I'd use my laptop to do this function. However, my laptop is a huge pain to use and I'd prefer to use my phone since it's way more convenient.
THANKS GUY'S!
Can the atrix record from external microphone?
Studio mike to mini Jack is s waste of time. You need a balanced cannon socket to get the benefit.

Thats cool I was wondering if I could record using an external microphone?
I can record from the Mic on my headphones, do I don't see why not.

That's great to know. So then how could I then playback what's being recorded in real time?
Sounds like you are trying to use it as a multi track recorder. Have you tried one of the multi track apps? Something like audio evolution et al?

Great idea. Now that's promising! If there's an app that can precisely control each individual steps on the 3.5mm jack. There might be several functions available like spdif out via 3.5mm dongle or something? Or a audio brick with a microphone input and stereo output so once that cable is dialed in. It should honestly work perfectly. As long as the app can hold it's own. I'll check it out.
What cable do you think I should use for this function?
Any other apps available? How easy would it be to write?
You're looking into making your Atrix to act like external audio interface with low latency monitoring. No, AFAIK you won't get satisfying results on any android device. It has something to do how android drivers handle audio. I was looking into iRig for android and found out that it's not going to happen.
However, high quality recording is possible. You would need adapter with preamplifier. I found a perfect one (MIKI) and have seen it in action. It enables your android device to use any dynamic mic for recording. Using appropriate adapter with this you could even use condenser mics. Price tag of €100 is the only thing that's holding me back to buy it.
Accompany it with app such as PC Recorder and you're all set to go.
Yeah, the audio stack in Android is pretty crap. I'm guessing it's the whole running in a java vm instead of native code?
My old 2007 2G iPhone with its 128MB RAM and ~500MHz cpu works fine as guitar effects processor, my last year's dual core Atrix with 1GB RAM lags like a mofo. As does every Android phone we tried. Get the basics right Google!

I can't find that device anymore?

I need to plug in a mic into android phone then playback over the 3.5mm stereo output.
THANKS
Good news everyone!

Can't find a place where I can buy the software and cables and accessories to do this. I'd be very interested to buy it.

Headphone jack/wired audio control

My new work van has a line-in 1/8" jack so I can finally listen to my Note through the van's stereo and ditch the staticy FM trans I've been using in the old van. I would love to find an inline track control to use with the 1/8" jack so I don't have to look at and wake up the Note anytime I want to change something. I drive all day so I am stoked to have access to my music but If I was to get a ticket for using the device while I think I would lose the job.
I use a male -male cable to connect the Note so so obviously the control could have either a male - male or male - female (to plug in the existing cable) set up to have the correct ends.
Alternatively I am not opposed to wiring a phono jack in place of headphones on a headphone set if I have to, if anyone knows of something that works well with the note and has at least play/pause/skip control.
Thanks,
Drew
App recommendation
I use Car Home Ultra, i even paid for the pro version. It allows me to setup tiled shortcuts to music players, one touch calls, google maps and all that. it also has interactive tiles to skip, go back, or pl/pause songs and you can choose an option to show what sont and artist is playing in the settings. Along with that stuff you can see how fast your going, which direction, what the weather is like, and it will give you spoken updates of what town your in (i find it annoying so i shut it off) its highly customizable in the settings and everything. Its a great app.

not 100% sure that these will work, but I know the headset I bought for my girlfriend which is made by Scosche and at one point those controls worked on my note.
hope these help

headphone socket doesn't activate with speakers

thanks for reading this. I searched but couldn't find anything strongly pertinent.
If listen to media, perhaps a podcast (podcast addict) or music (poweramp), then it comes out of the speaker until I plug in a headset (my old Samsung headphones work OK), and sound switches over. The headset plug has the usual tip + 3 rings.
If I plug in some external speakers, the sound doesn't cut over to the speakers on the headphone socket, so audio continues on the speaker. The speaker plug has tip + 2 rings.
My guess is that the Xperia detects the speakers from a change in impedance, rather than a switch? Or could it be the speakers's connector isn't sensed because it's only a stereo jack not stereo + mic jack?
I can't find any manual override settings in any control panel.
thanks for any ideas.
Paul
Continuing to think about this, I considered there might be an app which allows manually switching between speaker and headphone.
A bit of research and I found SoundAbout, which is far more powerful than I need as it allows you to override audio routing to any output such as bluetooth, hdmi, headphones, dock etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix
What I specifically like about this is it gives you a simple widget to toggle speaker and headset.
Of course, I'd rather the built-in switching worked, so I am still open to ideas, thanks.
Well I use some normal headphones which are standard mini jack with 2 rings and it transfers fine so I don't think it has to do with the need for 3 rings. What are the speakers out of interest?

I've had the same problem but it's not related to what I plug in, it's just random. Sometime's it's my headphones that came with the Z Ultra and sometimes it's a Monster 1/8 inch cable for plugging into my car's stereo. I think others have posted the same issue with it not detecting something plugged in. Luckily it's pretty rare for me, every month maybe.
