[Q] Question about 4.2.2 and Chrome - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know my TAB 2 android version is 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (CyanogenMod RC5) but I still have few Questions
1 What means JDQ39E ?
(this row of letters and numbers cames after OS version number at Google Chrome's about Chrome list)
2 I know what means Stable and Nigthly after CyanogenMod's version number but what that RC means ?
3 and why on the CM 10.1 RC5's Changelog is writed "this is first CyanogenMod for device GT-P3100" but still I got RC5 when I uptade RC2 so I think RC1 is first ?
4 then why Chrome is not open sourced but all else GApps are ?

First, I'm a noob too, so just can answer couple of your question
RC means Release Candidate. Those are "last builds before stable release, few minor issues, mostly stable and safe for daily use" In the wiki page of cyanogenmod says that.
Maybe the didn't change the log. "this first CyanogenMod for device GT-P3100" or is the first the published, really don't know any more

CyanogenMod 7.2 Cooper versions

Sorry for the noob question.
Whats the difference between the following on the cyanogenmod download site
Nightly Cooper 02.09.12
RC1 Cooper
RC3 Cooper
Stable
I thought our device wasn't supported anymore but the nightly cooper is dates 02.09.12 ?
Thank you.
at first i was like: lets post a picard and riker double facepalm
but the i was like: no OT here. give serious answer!
the stable release is -very the suprising- the release labeled with "STABLE"! here afaik (used till 2 weeks ago) everything works fine.
the RCs are just "better betas". most of it works but sometimes it could be a bit buggy
and nightlys are either the first development steps/milestones or -like in this case, where there are nightlies newer than STABLE- they are just created by a bot every sunday. they are automated builds and sometimes contain new things. but as coolya said, there is nothing left to do on CM72 for ace.
tl:dr: dont care about the nightlies. use stable if you want a stable system for everyday use, where everything works without any problems!
No, Stable has some known bugs such as not able to answer call with earphones , the newer Nightly versions have solved that.
But true, seems like Coolya has given up our device and there is no new development for Cooper....
And btw, this is not the right section ,poat these kind of questions to Q & A plz

[Q] Which CM should I choose? (Xperia S)

I saw that my device Xperia S (nozomi) has CM 9.0 and 9.1 under 'stable' category at get dot cm (I'm not allowed links, this is my first post).
Seeing the development forum here, I see CM 9.1 is being worked upon... so does that mean 9.0 is stable & released?
I'm not much aware about CM's release cycle, etc. also couldn't find a question here. If it exists, II'm sorry.
CM9.1 is the latest version for ICS, CM10 is the latest version for JB. The CM9 code base is stable, which means only bugfixes go in there. The CM10 code base is in development, which means new features and bugs can and will be added before release. Also, camera doesn't work on CM10, but it works on CM9.
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.

[ROM] Latest CM7.2 as of 4th October 2012 - No USSD bug.

This rom is effectively the CM7.2 version of FXP140. I don't believe any changes have been committed to the es209ra sources since FXP130, but it does include the all the latest 7.2 commits made in the 2 months or so since FXP130 was released.
Background:
The USSD exploit was published last week and the Cyanogen dialer is vulnerable. I don't know if there's a USSD factory reset code for the X10 but frankly, I don't want to find out.
The exploit was patched in the CM sources recently and since FXP is no longer releasing 7.2 builds I thought I'd try and build the latest CM version from source for use on my X10 (rather than install some extra app just as a work around)
I was most surprised to get it compiled correctly first time, and I've been running it on my phone today without problems. I figured there are people here who don't have the time or inclination to compile the sources and might find this rom useful.
Installation
It's exactly the same as FXP 7.2 roms, so just follow this.
Colossus FXP install guide
You'll need the standard FXP 130 kernel, or a kernel that's compatible with FXP 130. The Kernel.sin file is included in the rom and you can make an FTF from that with Flashtool if you don't already have a suitable kernel to install.

Disclaimer: I'm not a developer and haven't made any changes, this is just a clean build of the very latest latest CM7.2 sources from Github: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/
will test.
REPOSTED!
Me test, too.
And I did, idk what kernel should I use, so it's a bit laggy for me. and Play store with Gmail isn't working. but everything else works good.

will try it
working ok. if i could add the camera from cm7 M&M.. would be better. A lot of free ram, good 3d performance with Cosmic Kernel Mod.
I'm not sure which camera app M&M use, the APK should work as long as it's not the semc one (since M&M is based on stock rom/zmod).
what's USSD ?
USSD codes are special dialling codes that can be used to make a phone perform special functions (e.g. show the IMEI, access the secret menu on a sony stock rom).
See the link I posted originally for more details on the bug:
http://dylanreeve.posterous.com/remote-ussd-attack
It's most serious on Samsung phones as they have a USSD code that performs a factory reset without prompting.
Hi,

[Q] Nexus 4 - source of nightlies is latest stable?

Hey everyone,
maybe it is not a good question but as I just had the stable 10.1.2 with latest masterkey fixes I´d like to ask if the nightlies which are produced after its release are build on 10.1.2 too?
Because I do not see any update on my Nexus 4 if I choose "new versions (incl. nightlies)", which confuses me now a little bit. Only if I choose "all versions (incl. nightlies)" or just look the internet page.
Thanks for a short explanation.

[Q] Which rom (4.4.x or 5.1.x) is best for daily use?

I want install a custom rom on my girlfriend's galaxy s2, but I would be sure that the rom I choose hasn't camera/audio/3g/wifi bugs. I saw the paranoid rom with android 4.4 and cm rom 12.1 nightly but I'm undecided which one to choose. Can someone give me a suggestion? Also on other rom
If you want to run on a newer Android version, here's a link to a unofficial CyanogenMod ROM of Lysergic Acid. The newest build is Android 5.1.2 but I don't know if everything works. I am using an older build (03/31 EOL Build) which is Android 5.0.2. No major bugs at me, WiFi, Network, Bluetooth, Camera, Audio all working. Only noticed that device is getting very hot at hard usage and sometimes WiFi Hotspot doesn't work. Battery lifetime is ok. I don't recommend the official nightly version because as the name says it's full of bugs.

If you want to avoid any kind of little bugs here is a stable official version of CM:

Hope this helps.
