touch screen goes crazy - HTC EVO 3D

hey i have an strange problem sometimes randomly my phone screen goes crazy !!! if close the screen and reopen it the bug goes away and comes back randomly again but the problem became more constant after changing the battery with an anker one
any help ?

i never swapped my battery but mine did that before and i found out that my digitizer was going bad

This is a very common problem. Like the reply before me it seems to be a digitizer issue.
I have random touches, some time parts of the screen are unresponsive, and then even the whole screen will become unresponsive. A quick press of the power button and 90% issue stops. Sometimes only for a moment sometimes for hours or longer. Also seems to be worse on sense ROMs. I have changed firmware, hboots, kernels, ROMs, and radios with little to no difference.
Even though it sometimes acts like a software problem it is always there. Until a few weeks ago recovery never had an issue but it is now there also. Before that I was convinced it was software of some sort. Now I still want to think software because the issue is so random but until it gets to where the phone is almost unusable I am holding off on a digitizer.

It's static electricity.
It's hard to clean, Maybe use you 3D without Screen Protector a period of time.

Then maybe you can try a anti-static-electricity Screen Protector for several days.

Touchscreen stops working / random presses

Recently my touchscreen has been acting up on me. Sometimes it will either lock up completely and ill just press power 2x to get it to work again. other times stuff will randomly start to open or if its on the home screen the phone will switch pages left and right at a very high rate of speed the screen almost looks like its flickering.
this just started yesterday, ive ran 2 antivirus apps on the phone and both say its clean so i doubt its a virus, im not sure if its hardware or software related, im thinking about doing a re-flash, but i have a feeling that might not fix the issue..
has anyone else encountered this problem? it can get annoying at times cause it almost stops me from using the phone completely.
Edit: I would also like to note, i thought it was the screen protector i had on, but i took it off and the screen is still acting up
I had this happen last night after I installed a screen protector I got from eBay (they were $4 for 10 with free shipping). I'm guessing it was something in the glue because as soon as I took it off, the phone went back to normal. It always seemed to be 'pressing' in the same spot because I was trying to send a text and it kept popping up with a menu about the contacts info. Also, when that would pop up, the capacitive buttons at the bottom (menu, home, back and search) wouldn't work so I had to lock the phone and unlock it to gain control.

Did any water get in the phone?
i have same problem and make me shock,
my motorola have anti glare screen guard
while iam eat chicken soup and play mini plan , i didnt notice if my finger are wet couz of soup, meanwhile i notice that at that time the touch screen are still good i can play the game, so i quickly try to clean it up using tissue , while i try clean up my phone keep pressing like crazy so i stop to clean it but it keep pressing like crazy, event i have already out from the game, i cannot stop it, so i must pull out the battery and put it back,
i think Atrix the touch screen are too unstable , compare with milestone milestone is better but it's less sensitive then atrix
it normal again after pull out the battery and i clean it up
I never got any water inside the phone, only on the screen protector when applying it to the screen as directed in the instructions for the skinomi screen protector.
the screen protector has been on the phone for 2 months no issues. its only now i see this happening.
i removed the screen protector to see the issue still there.
i have done a factory restore with no changes
i downgraded to 1.52 with the random tapping still going.
i think it might be hardware related.
im going to bring the phone to an AT&T store for a swap

[Q] Touchscreen unresponsive stripe - digitizer problem?

My Atrix's screen has become unresponsive in a vertical column (if the phone is in portrait mode) that lines up about with the W, E, and S keys. Restarting fixed the problem for maybe 20 seconds or so after the phone became usable, but doesn't seem to have made a difference after about the third time or so. I also removed the battery and held down the power button for ~45 seconds and then put everything back together, which also seemed to have helped for a minute or less before the stripe became unresponsive again. I also restored to yesterday's backup a couple different times (CM 7.2 stable), which also temporarily helped.
So after a brief search, it seems that the digitizer may be the issue. Is there any way to tell for sure? At first it seemed like a software problem, but it could also just be the digitizer acting erratically because it's going out, so I'm not really sure, and I'd rather not attempt a repair that may not be necessary.

there are some screen tester apps on Play which you could use to see if, in fact, your digitizer is a problem.

Do you have any specific recommendations? I downloaded the touch test app from here (http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/app/touch-test) to see how much of the screen was misbehaving and discovered that it was a perfect stripe the whole way down, but because I'm not terribly knowledgeable about troubleshooting phone hardware, I don't know if that's telling me it's the digitizer or something else. I attached a screenshot that shows where the stripe is.

From what I've seen on here it does look like your digitizer is at fault. I have never had to change mine but there are plenty of posters on here who have and you can look at their experiences to assist you. Also, here's a video I found so you can see what you'll have to do. Good Luck!

Desire X Screen "touches itself"

Hi, so here is the thing: Every now and then, usually daily, I take the phone out of pocket, unlock it, and it starts doing random presses on the screen, usually on the middle section, top to bottom. It ends up in the weather app, app drawer etc.
I try wiping it profusely to make sure there isn't any sweat or anything on it to cause it, but no luck. I tried rebooting, and sometimes it fixes the issue but most of the times it doesn't. I have a friend that has one and it started doing the same for him. Mine is Vodafone, his is Orange, so the firmware isn't EXACTLY the same... Anybody had this issue? Any ideeas?

Well, my Desire X (Vodafone) started to do the same thing in winter, I think it was due to low temperatures, so I believe that those random presses are sign of temperature/screen issue. Also my phone did this (sometimes) when it's overheated, maybe it can be temperature-sensitive screen.

Also get this problem now and then, could this be fixed by just recalibrating screen ?

Oooo matron! When my phone thinks about you it touches itself.
Mine does it too, I think it's down to any moisture (sweat etc) on the screen, seems to go absolutely bananas in that situation. The LCD used in this device is pretty poor and prone to these things. Finding a keyboard for the DX was annoying. Have 4 installed at the moment. Far easier in my expereience on the old Desire AMOLED screen etc.

XZU goes crazy very often now

Its getting more and more often. My XZU screen goes crazy randomly. Crazy means.....like multiple presses on the phone are happening at the same time and apps are starting without pressing, even the homescreen goes crazy and goes into edit mode and the crazy ness is so crazy that I cannot even turn off the phone because the moment I hold down the power button and it shows the power off window, it immediately goes off. I cannot go to the apps I want because random ads are all going off at the same time. This whackyness normally goes away when I reboot the phone....however, I discovered today that after rebooting the symptoms came back immediately. I had to reboot twice more in order to get the phone back working properly.
HELP!!!!!

you could change the sensitivity of the screen.
There is a file that you can edit.
navigate to system/usr/idc "max1187x_touchscreen_0"
If you edit this in a notepad app or root explorer... then find the code:
touch.filter.level = 2
and change it to 4 or maybe 6.. to make it more sensitive..
- or 1 to make it less sensative

I also have this problem. It's mostly because there is water (even very small amount, like sweaty fingers) on the screen. Just wipe the screen and make it dry.
Also for some people(like me) the problem only happens on a certain area of the screen. That area of the original film on the screen is damaged, and water on that part of the film just won't go off. You can try washing you phone with tap water, and you can see that water will stay on the defective part of the screen forming a small water pool, and clean and dry(maybe some water bead) on the rest part of the screen.
I've sent back my phone to sony for repair. Hopefully they can replace the original film. If not I guess I'll go for another screen protector.

Yeah, that's the oleophobic coat coming off in certain areas. Mine's come off in the lower left corner, but that doesn't bother me since i can't see it unless i hold a flashlight over it.

how I wish I came to XDA earlier.. I just googled "oleophobic coating" and found out that I can repair that myself, at very low cost(about the same as the shipping cost to send it for repair...)
Well at least if sony sent it back unrepaired I can still do it myself. Just one month without my precious won't kill me (thinking positively!)

Random screen on

Yesterday I got my LG G watch and everything was great, then this morning I tried to apply a screen protector, and since then my screen has been randomly turning on and stuff, it launched Google voice search by itself or swiped trough the cards by itself. I already did a factory reset, but the problem still persist. Does anyone else face this problem and is there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: After turning developer options on and using the show touches option I can see my screen is pressed without I am pressing it (the entire time it's the corner at the bottom right of the screen). Is this an over sensitive screen? Or maybe it happened because I tried to apply a screen protector?

Mine also was dry install, I used a screen protector tool to get the bubbles out, maybe I pushed too hard? (which is not likely, because I have applied dozens of screen protectors and never had any issues)

Unsure. I would just take off the protector.I hope it didn't cost too much. Maybe try another?
Stupid question, did you take off the factory cover prior to installing the new one? Sorry, I have to ask lol.

Haha, didn't cost too much, however, de problem persist even when screen protector is removed..
Yes I did take it off
Oke, first I thought it was due to an oversensitive touchscreen, however, now I am experiencing the problem when in direct sunlight, when getting back inside the problem keeps appearing for an hour or something and then disappears.. Is this common for some touchscreen?

Mine turns on randomly all the time, it's super annoying, but I think there might be a way to disable it.
I think it's supposed to be a feature: you move your arm around, and the screen turns on so you can read it. Neat idea, but it's waaaay too sensitive, and my screen turns on alllll the time for no reason.
However, your watch is even scrolling through pages and activating google now? Yikes. And it still scrolls/activates google now after you removed the screen protector, not just turning screen on? Unfortunately, I would probably try to exchange it But you'll be glad you did.

Thanks for your reply, unfortunate you experience the same with your watch, however, mine is not too sensitive, but the heat of the sun or bright daylight causes the touchscreen to activate and register a touch, I already informed LG of my problem, and they said they took the problem to the technical staff and will inform me in a couple of days what to do
