Most popular/Favorite AOSP ROM? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Hey guys, I've been checking out all of the AOSP ROMS our awesome developers created, but I was wondering which one of them you're currently on or prefer. I'm going to make the switch to AOSP after being on the Sense 5 Port for a while, but I'm unsure as to which ROM I should install. What do you guys think? Thanks!

These threads are really frowned upon bro. My opinion is to try them all. That's the fun part about flashing. Every phone reacts differently to each Rom so just jump in and get your flash on!

I'm really digging Slimbean. Extremely lightweight with just the right bonuses added in. Rock solid on my phone.

These type of threads are not allowed. They end up in arguing and flaming that we have to clean up. There are plenty of options, find the one that best suits you.
Thanks,
Jmz

Whats the best rom out there?

Hi Im looking to install a rom on my phone and was wondering what is the best one out there now?
Try them all out for yourself to find out which is best.
What I would think is best, you could hate for all I Know.
ok, let me chime in here before you get flamed and the thread gets locked. Dont create a thread asking for the best rom. Every phone is different and will respond to ROM's differently. What works for me, may not work for you.
the same suggestion applies to everyone creating a thread like this -- try all the roms and determine which works best for you.

I am sure you are going to be yelled at by many for asking this question ! See, it depends on what your requirement is, some like heavily themed ROM (firmware), some like very light weight ( just better battery, minimal force closures, etc).
why don't you start with something stock like UnNamed, SHOstock ROMs if you don't like and you want more 'customization' then try TASK650's ICS'd and ICScrewD these are themed and a little heavier and have more options to play around!
Give each ROM couple of days and see how it works for your daily use, and choose your final one, also learn how to take Nandroid backup using CWM and take backup before try new one one.
Ones I pointed are here for long and stable.
Good luck!
Geezus .. another one? ..batter down the hatches, there's a storm brewin!
New users should be required to sign a waiver stating that they will NOT under any circumstances, start a New thread asking about which ROM is best.. add that line into the services and agreement checkbox..
sent from my Galaxy SIII ...haha jk, I FOiLed ya!
AFAIK, there is absolutely no BEST ROM as it might be BEST and suitable for you but not for others.
Keep reading through, most of the time when new ROM update released, a first few pages, people keep giving thumbs up and 5 or 6 stars but down the road, they start reporting issue, oh, I can't do this, I can't do that after update.
Expect to pull your hair, scratch your head a few times.
Best rom is whichever one gives u the options u want and does what u need it to do. If you're asking which are more popular and basing your idea off these, just peruse the development section. Usually more popular Roms are at the top or have been around a while and have been thoroughly tested by the user base.

This is why allowing these threads is bad. They'll just keep on coming. To the OP, had you spent a single minute looking over the first page of threads in here you would have seen this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1484306
Maybe it might have saved you from starting this redundant and useless thread, maybe not. No one ROM is THE BEST because no one uses their phone the same way or has the same needs/expectations. The only way to find which one is best for you is to try them. To figure that out you should read the various ROM's threads in Dev and see what problems/benefits it has and decide for yourself what you can live with. THERE IS NO BEST ROM!
We dont allow "best rom" threads. Each person is different looking for different featuers. Try some yourself and see which one fits you.

[Q] What would the photon community think of a PAC-Port?

~I do sincerely apologize if i posted this in the wrong thread, kinda was torn between general and Q&A, but Q&A seemed more fit according to the forum rules.~
If you aren't already aware, there is a hybrid rom floating around varied devices. The rom isnt a hybrid between say ICS and JB, but rather a hybrid of cm10, aokp and paranoid. If you are curious about the specific details, just search XDA for PAC. Im trying to get back into porting, and maybe even back into developing roms, but i dont want to step on any developers toes, or over work myself. I think I would love to try and tackle this port and bring another JB rom option to us all, but i need to know if it is even worth my time.
My question is simple, Is the photon community interested in a PAC-Port?
Please, answer the poll, and if you have any added feedback/comments/questions, simply reply to the topic and i will be sure to read it through.
I would greatly appreciate your feedback, and with any luck, i can start working on it as soon as next week.
Thank you all in advance for your feedback/input!

I'm interested.
We had another community project for the Photon lead by Th3Bill and Jokersax called Kitchen Sink that was based off of CM9

What is project kitchen sink?
Its cm9, miui, cna, and aokp in one installer with all the options, tweaks, modifications, and changes you could ever want.

ah yes, haha, i miss that. Here, look at this link to get a better understanding of the rom. i think you might have it a little confused. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32482802
Pac, is one rom, built from multiple roms.
PKS was multiple roms built into one aroma installer.
hope your still interested.
The more roms the better I say.
Seems how I flip back and forth between cna aokp and paranoid I could definitely live with and love all the options in one ROM.

Ah, cool. Of course I still am.
of course that is a good idea thats what i exactly need option of CNA with AOPK mixed with those of CM10 and phablet of paranoid
i even tried some porting myself
Well awesome. it seems that everyone would be interested in the rom. im getting everything together, but i probably wont have it started till next week. i wont give an eta due to my schedule(in college, working, taking care of my fiance) i might need surgery, so that could delay things as well, but im excited to tackle this project and finally contribute to the community.
On another note, if i get it up and running, i may decide to add in an extra rom for kicks. So instead of just pac, it might be pacc or pac-x. Thanks for your feedback. if you have any suggestions or added feedback, feel free to post your replys. I am following this thread, so i will be in touch.
Wish me luck!

Yeah. This would require your phone to be unlocked and rooted. This is because the roms it will ne built from require an unlocked bootloader, and a lot of the features require root access. Another note to everyone; I do not use gsm, so once this rom is up and running, i may ask for help specifically for gsm debugging for those in need of gsm.
Hate to like bump the thread at all, just wanted to update on progress.
The majority of the rom is ported over. Having a few problems as far as it booting and staying booted, got a boot logo starts, and then loops, so still a WIP.
On a side note; i wont be working on this rom for a bit, My hours have been doubled at work, and i just got in a wreck today( im not at fault ), car is totaled. So
a) i need time to recuperate
b) needa figure out car situation
Sorry for the delay folks. After im feeling better ill be starting up again, and maybe putting in some more time into it.
Thank you for your patience, ive been having a lot of fun working on this rom, and so when its up, i will be maintaining it as long as possible. =)
Time for my good friend bengay. lol
happy pre-halloween!

My sincerest apologies everyone. If you are not aware, Th3bill has released PAC. I just wanted to thank everyone for their feedback as far as interest in me porting PAC over. I couldn't be happier that bill made the rom. I think it is best left to those with more experience and who aren't so rusty. I had a lot of fun working on my port, but due to the circumstances i was not able to finish in time. This all being said, this topic is now closed. Have fun everyone, and happy holidays.

If anyone who sees this has no real interest in flashing and testing different roms, and simply want a "microwave" solution, then disregard my block of text below. This is not a shot against anyone, just simple advice being shared.
My response whenever people ask this question is this: you can try one at a time, so why not try as many as you can?
How would you know if any Rom is the best without knowing what makes it better than the other Roms in the first place? Not to mention that every user has their personal preferences, likes, and dislikes. Some like simple roms while others prefer the bells and whistles. You must see what you lime for yourself.
Please understand, Rom testing IS time consuming when testing the options and checking for speed, smoothness, stability, functionality, etc., but it is well worth it. You build your knowledge base, too. Asking for someone to tell you the best rom is taking the easy way out, guided by a biased opinion that is likely to change between most responses that you receive. Unless, of course, as I said before, you have no interest in this kind of thing, and you just want a rom that works. If so...then do whatever rocks your boat.

A good website for roms is
http://galaxys2root.com/tag/sgh-t989-roms/
There are videos posted for most roms reviewing the features, speed, stability, visuals, and overall feel of each rom.
And FYI, GB roms tend to be more stable than ICS, and DEFINITELY JB, but you gain more functionality and lose stability with each step up. Keep that in mind.

What's wrong is that the Evo 3D forums do not allow favorite ROM threads. You can try posting your requirements in this thread per the instructions in the OP and someone will probably provide feedback.

My favorites are cyanogen based roms, but there are some bugs in cm 10.1 (bluetooth etc)
As stated above best Rom threads are frowned upon to many variables to say one Rom is hands down the best Rom.

[Q] Looking for a Decked Out Custom Rom!

Not sure if I have over looked or not, but I was looking for a completely decked out customer ROM with all the fix-in's like, customer color themes, no original Icons, that sort of thing. it would be stable and fast. if there are any , please give me a link
If I am out of my mind... please do so as well
Thank you Devs for all your hard work!
everyone will have a different opinion on what works and what doesn't, your best bet to to just try them out give them a day or 2 each to see how they run for you.
This is such a broad question that can be taken so many ways. As far as ASOP goes if you are talking having the most options pacman or revolt are going to have the most options.

And my apologies for the broad question and thank you for the recommendations.
Not sure if ur a fan of touchwiz or not but Big, Nun, and The Family are doing some great things with Black Jelly. Dont let the fact that its in beta deter you. The rom is fast, stable, and very customizable. Also, GT's Padawan JB is pretty good as well. Those are just my personal recomendations.

With the cm10.1 roms you have many themes available to really change appearences. See the app store.

[Q] Unable to find stable ROM for Note (Samsung ROM included)

Hey All,
First, and most importantly, I would like to say hello and THANKS to all of the people on this forum and devs who put together and support CFW's. You all do great jobs, and should be proud of your work.
Second, I have not posted here before since my questions were always answered with a search of the forums. This time it is not the case as I will explain.
I have a Galaxy note from Bell and I think it is an awesome piece of hardware (so much so I also bought a Note 10.1). I was quite happy with it for a long time but my patience for touchwiz eventually wore thin. Turning on the phone to make a call or text and having to wait while the phone finishes some phantom background task was incredibly annoying. Why does Samsung make great hardware and then ruin it with bloatware and junk?
This led me to to find a CFW which did not have this issue. I tried several and was blown away by the quality and completeness of these roms. They solved so many problems and did things the way the should have been done in the first place. I was in heaven. There was just one problem...stability. None of them slowed to a crawl and were always blisteringly fast, but the phone would lock up and reboot once every day or 2. This was not acceptable for a phone which is needed for work and emergencies. I would assume that the small number of these phones makes it less likely for the roms to be tested with them to the same extent as for a Note 2 or S3. I have even tried touchwiz-based roms which do not crash, but have the same occasional unresponsiveness of the samsung original.
So here is my question: has anyone found a rom which is STABLE in a real way? When I search I see people who say roms are stable but they never qualify their opinion with crash frequency so it remains a purely relative term. I love this phone and would really love to have a rom like PAC with all of its awesomeness but stability is king for me.
Here is what I have tried, full wipes done before each flash:
Cyanogenmod 10.0, 10.1
PAC rom
Padawan
Blackstar Blackjelly, 2 different versions
Thanks.
Jellybean Sandwich is really fantastic. It's based on ICS, so if you require Jellybean specific features it might not be for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356408
Sent from my Samsung SGH-I717 (Galaxy Note)
How would one "qualify" their opinion with "crash frequency" if the rom they are using doesn't crash? There are many more roms than the ones you have listed.
Also, it has been my exprience that the 4.3 roms are very stable.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using xda app-developers app
I also second Jellybean sandwhich. It's great for stability, and since you would like to know to what extent I mean "stable" then this is what I mean...this ROM has NEVER crashed or rebooted on me, and for countless other users. It is an ICS based rom, with added jellybean features. It's a lightweight ROM, with not as many features as say AOKP, but many of those features can be added with "Xposed Mod" if you've ever used it. So you get the "speed" of jellybean, with the absolute stability of ICS. I highly recommend you try it out. People who have had trouble with the ROM (there are very few) have all induced the problems on their own, or probably have faulty hardware. I can vouch that if you wipe clean, and flash correctly everything will work right out of the box, except USB mount (which there is a fix to make it work), and a bug that gives you and "sd card damaged" notification when nothing is really wrong.
EDIT: If you want a fast touchwiz based ROM that is not necessarily Jellybean. I recommend Novena ROM. It's an older ROM but one of the fastest ROMs you can get for our phone. You may have to look on the second page in the development section as it hasn't been updated in months
Go to an ICS rom if you want speed and stability. No matter what anyone on these forums will say, you cannot, cannot, cannot find speed and stability in ANY jb rom. Some may have stability, but lack speed. If you just use them [jb roms] for a while, you can forget that they aren't fast and become accustomed to them, but if you touch an ICS ROM or a newer galaxy phone, you'll quickly be reminded that you're delusional.
both Touchwiz Rom's are stable. they are rocks and will not give you a random reboot. if you have read like you said, than you may have even seen one of several postings in the Padawan tread. if you haven't.......p355-378 is a good read and will lay out some solid fundamental settings which would lead you to nirvana.
many also seem to overlook one 4.2 rom, as even I did for the longest time. Sons of Android or SOA is the ONLY 4.2 rom out there that I got no randoms with and did not need to seek an alternate kernel.
those are just 2 roms. everyone will tell you, every phone is a bit different. finding a rom that is going to satisfy everyone the same. its like voting for a President now and days. you don't really vote for the one you want anymore, its voting for the lesser of two evils. everybody knows, you cant have good without evil.
you are getting some good personal opinions here. it sounds like you know what your looking for, but you have yet to decide as to what you are willing to tolerate. we all tolerate something for the rom that we want. what evil are you willing to tolerate? only you can answer
me........stability is what I seek, and lack of some bells and whistles is what I tolerate. as mentioned previously, I get some of that back with Xposed and keep my stability.
good luck my friend
Honestly, I'm using a stock deodexed/debloated ROM. Works just fine for me.
SkeletonKey, Padawan, JellyBeer, Prophylactic are all also great ones that I personally used a lot.
Your mileage may vary though.

I've been on Revolt for 2 weeks and no crashes. The only 'bug' is that sometimes when you press PWR to activate the phone, the capacitive buttons highlight but the screen stays blank. Press PWR twice (once to turn 'off' and again to turn back on) and you'll see the lock screen.
I was playing with the tweaks a lot, so this 'bug' could just be from something I did. Other than that it's blistering fast compared to Bell stock (yes, I'm on Bell too and feel your pain) and I'd recommend it to anyone.
