When I first received my SGP312U1/B, I unaggressively picked at the plastic piece located where a SIM card would be inserted and it seems to be fixed well in place and cannot be easily removed. I searched for teardown information, but the only thing I could find was Sony's video HERE that shows a teardown of a prototype 3G+WiFi model, not a WiFi only model.
In the video, an external view of the SIM and SD card slots are shown at 0:24. You can also see why I believe the tablet is a prototype because the label reads "SGP321 SGP312JP/B TYPE:XX-XXXX-XX". Notice that the two SGP numbers are in conflict. Also, at 0:32 you will notice the FCC ID or IC number is all Xs. At 2:45, the internal SIM/SD board is shown being removed. I believe in the WiFi only models, a board without SIM hardware is installed.

Thanks but the thread you are pointing to is about the SGP321 (3G+WiFi), not the SGP312 (WiFi only). The question being answered in the year-old post you are replying to was "Can a SIM be installed in a SGP312?" and the answer is still "No."

Anyone found a working Dual Sim Adapter for Touch HD?

Has anyone managed to get a working dual sim adapter for the HD? I've tried MagicSim 20th edition from ebay which works but causes the HD to go into bootloader mode after a reset.
Thanks

From what I have seen, once you install the adapter, the phone adds a menu item in the programs section of the HD. From there you can select what card to turn on. You give it a couple of seconds to find reception and then you're good to go.
As far as I know (and I'm just a newbie at it)......
No, you cannot use both cards simultaneously. So, if card 1 is selected to be in use, then the phone will act as if card 2 did not exist. That means you cannot receive calls made to that number or text messages etc. If you then want to call using card 2, you have to switch to it, which then means that card 1 would be totally turned off.

So you actually tried this one and it worked?
How do you fit the extra card under the back cover of the phone?
I am debating on which adapter to get. I'm scared to mess up my sim card by cutting it. Maybe I'll order the special pliers to cut it - rather than using scissors. No cutting card would be better, but I thought the non cutted adapters would not fit or work with the HD.
I see that MobileBrando has a dual sim card that has AutoSwitch.

Do you think it really true? "both sims online at the same time"... is it possible?
is any one tried it with the HD?

As I understand it, you cannot have both sims online at the same time with the HD, because your phone would need two receivers/transmitters for that.
So I seriously doubt that the above claim is true.
There are phones though, like the Samsung D880, that can use two sim cards simultaneously.
I don't see where that link says that both sim cards would be active simultaneously. I believe the auto-switch function just means that you can set a time when the phone should switch to another card. For example if you get off work at 5 pm, it can automatically switch to your personal sim at that time (and switch off your business sim). In the link it even says that the display shows you which number is online. I assume that means both are not online at the same time.
And as K_Hismoom said, you would still need a phone with the capability of having two numbers active simultaneoulsy. Most phones do not have that ability.

I am not going to search for new phone now...LOL
However can bouled1 sim card make autoswitch every minute? and select which number to use on outgoing calls manually?
this is the only way I can see that it will work effectively for me:
1. You are offline with each phone no more than 1 minute.
2. I can use my work number to make outgoing calls when I want (thus saving money)
does this make sense?
bouled1 - can you upload pictures of the dual sim card inserted and the interface of the number selection? thanks in advance
I've tried this one :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=330289858155
It does not work on the HD and even tried it on my KJAM and still no luck.
Worked perfectly on my ols nokia (3G USim)
Does anybody tried and succeed a Non-Cut dual sim adaptor that works with the HD and USIM?
I'm desperate....
guys guys, these won't work with touch HD, or any of the windows mobile phones, I believe. if i'm wrong, please correct me, i'd like to learn something new. the reason being, is that in order for these cards to "automatically insert a new menu item" into the menu, the card needs access to the windows API. i doubt these little cards have that much memory on board (or left) to hold these codes for API calls.
they were designed to insert menus into dumbphones, regular phones, because those phones uses java as their "operating system", much simpler and leaner/smaller code.

I think you're wrong, but I am only basing it on the following:
This website a couple of weeks ago said their card worked on the touch hd, but I just checked and they changed it to "still testing it". See here.
This is their list to check compatibility of their various dual-card adapters with your phone. And on this page they say their adapters are indeed compatible with the touch diamond. They even have video showing how it works on the touch diamond. See video here. Tutorial videos of them using their dual sim card adapter on other phones here.
So, it seems that it can indeed be done on these phones.

Is there any news regarding this subject?
I need an adapter like this to allow me to put 1 data sim and 1 normal sim into my HD.... St*pid Italian mobile carriers do not offer any good contract with decent 3G Web flat and Voice on the same number.

I just checked the links above in my post. It looks like the Company is now done testing their adapter on the Touch HD and they say it is compatible. A few weeks ago, the page just said "testing in progress".
See this link. Their prices start at 40 Euros and shipping is free to all destinations. They are the only ones that I have seen make a video of their product working on the touch diamond. So, I feel pretty confident, that it will work on the HD. Of course you can buy those adapters as cheap as 6 Euros, but I wouldn't count on those working.
Only can works on 2G platform not on 3G platform and not data support. The video on youtube for htc diamond show that.
Check out this one:

This was tested by a user of a German forum and worked on the Touch HD even with 3G UMTS...
If you can speak a little German, you can read it here, otherwise, Google Translator is your friend
http://www.pocketpc.ch/256948-post16.html
I've contacted them, to see if they know if it's compatible or not, and also if it works on 3G/H
Hi,
I tried the card you pointing at but it ended up for me with two smaller simcards because you need to cut them.
No joy, when inserted in the device it doesn't recognize.
It was worth a try, pitty it doesn't work.

[Q] Ask: SIM Card needed to use Xperia S or any Sony Xperia phones?

I am looking for a Sony Xperia phone to buy. I love the Sony Xperia S and it is unlocked. So I am thinking do I need to put in a SIM Card to use it or not? Also, I think it does work on T-mobile SIM Card, right?
you will need a micro sim for xperia s. you can buy it just ask for a micro sim, and if you already have a regular sim card you can request to change it for a micro sim.
Yes you need a SIM card (a microSIM to be exact) and yes T-Mo will work.
Thank You

Thank you. It looks like I have to get my old T-moble SIM Card cut into a mircroSIM when I get the new Xperia S
Or you could just order a new sim card... Hack and slash route is known to fail occasionally

motorola atrix 4g ATT sim card size ?

Hi,
what size sim card is needed for motorola atrix 4G ATT phone. GSM Arena says mini Sim ? Some other site I read it takes regular sim but I think it was different carrier.
Regards,
Miten.
Mini SIM is regular SIM...
If you're still unsure (can't imagine why), it's can't be that hard to google, can it?
regular sim is mini sim
thanks for guidance. even after you clarified I googled and did not find site mentioning it clearly. It does show the pictures but does not mention so wanted to clarify.
"Uses mini SIM" is as clear as you'll get, and like I said there should be no confusion about what that means.

As said above, mini SIM is the regular SIM. Other SIM that are commonly used are micro SIM(iP****, HTC etc.) or the Nano SIM, which are smaller than the mini SIM. Though I have never seen a device which uses a SIM bigger than mini SIM (nor I have seen any SIM bigger in size than mini SIM)
Atrix uses mini SIM (25x15mm)

You're clearly too young to have seen them. SIM cards used to be the size of today's credit cards.
Mini SIM is called "mini" for a reason, just like there's a reason SIM cards are usually shipped within a plastic bracket and you have to snap it out.
EDIT: The big card in the background here is the full size SIM card, and the phone in front is the kind of phone that uses a SIM card of such size.

[Q] SIM-card on WiFi only device?

I got the WiFi only version when it was released in 2013 and I'm a bit interested to see if I can get the SIM-card slot working.
I found a spare part which would allow me to use a SIM-card (go to etradesupply.com and search for 'OEM Sony Xperia Tablet Z SIM Card and SD Card Reader Contact Flex Cable Ribbon'), but is there any other additional hardware I need, like an antenna or similar?
Do I need to flash another software as well?
Have anyone tried this?
Kind regards
Daniel

i think it's not possible, cause you'll need not only sim-slot and antenna, but also GSM chip as well.
That makes sense. Thanks for the fast reply

Is the sim detected or does it say "no sim"?? When my dad had that problem on his iPhone it was because the sim card needed to be adjusted.

I would guess that your carrier will not work with that particular model of this phone. For example, I have Verizon as my carrier, and if I put my sim card in an AT&T branded phone I get the same issue as you.

That app shows it's TT network which is Telia and Telenor's combined network and my SIM card is from Telenor so wrong brand cannot be the reason.
I am kinda at a loss. All my ideas have been exhausted.
My next suggestion would be to contact Telenor and ask them directly about the problem.
