Hi, I recently bought a second hand s6 and the weird thing is that when I put in my SIM card it will only allow me to make emergency calls and says it's not connected, what could be the problem?

Is the sim detected or does it say "no sim"?? When my dad had that problem on his iPhone it was because the sim card needed to be adjusted.

Another theory is the sim card is incompatible with the particular model you have. Have you checked that out?

Well the SIM cRD Hs the correct size and I tried another SIM card from the same operator, but that also says not connected only emergency calls

I would guess that your carrier will not work with that particular model of this phone. For example, I have Verizon as my carrier, and if I put my sim card in an AT&T branded phone I get the same issue as you.

That app shows it's TT network which is Telia and Telenor's combined network and my SIM card is from Telenor so wrong brand cannot be the reason.
I am kinda at a loss. All my ideas have been exhausted.
My next suggestion would be to contact Telenor and ask them directly about the problem.

thing's very wierd. IMEI can be seen, everything is fine, when plugged in my orange sim card it just said "mobile network not available". The signal strength is also fine. I tried an O2 sim card and it worked. both of my 2 orange sim cards didn't. I thought it was simlock problem, downloaded "galaxy s unlock"which also works on s2 and tried the unlocking procedure (already second time. previously I successfully unlocked it from O2), no luck.
anybody tell me what's going on with my phone?
Tried O2 and VODAFONE and TALKTALK sim cards, they all work fine on my phone, only orange cannot be recognized. I also tried my 2 orange sim card on other phones, they all work!
What's going on....???
Update:
So happy that finally found the reason! So I called Orange the other night and requested a phone replacement for another of my damaged old phone. For some stupid reason they thought the phone I used to call them was my damaged old phone, so they sent out a replacement and blocked my phone imei...I called Orange again today and had my phone imei unblocked and everything is perfect now.
I am not sure if the galaxy s unlock works on the galaxy s 2.
Here is one for the galaxy s 2.

Had a similar problem although with a different device (iPad lol) and a different SIM operator in a different country. My solution was to change a SIM card.. No idea what hppened to it still. All I know is that iPad was jailbroken..

every time when I flashed a new rom, always a notice saying "can't access to "/system/csc/ORA/system/". Tried *#272*imei#, there was no optional CSC available.
does anyone know how to repair it? thanks!

it says "ME returnd a temporary error" when i pop the sim in and no service. any idea of this error tried googling and got nothing
You shouldn't have a problem since Koodo is a Telus subdivision. Is it a Micro SIM card? Or a SIM you cut to have it work?

Hello XDA!
After reading here that all verizon S4''s are network free, I bought an almost new one to use in Europe(Romania).
But even after i checked global everywhere , the phone says"NO SIM-insert sim card", and refuse to work at all, no voice, data wtatsoever. Also, i cant change the APN (but since there isnt even voice or sms, it isn relevant at this point)
Is there any tutorial for a newbie that i could folow to get the phone working in 3G?
Thank you very much. P.S. I'm on 4.3 stock
I have the same problem. It says no SIM when I put my country's SIM card. When I put ATT sim, the phone shows that there a SIM inside the phone.
its odd, since it is supposed to be a global device. Maybe flashing a custom ROM should remove the restriction?

Sounds like you have a bad SIM, or perhaps something wrong with the way it's cut. My i545 works fine with European SIMs (other than the annoyance with the "Non-Verizon SIM" warning).
You can't change the APN since you don't have a SIM installed, and you can't use GSM without a SIM.

BTW, eKit is also gosim.com.
No, I'm not using CDMA - the service in the UK is all GSM. You install the SIM then set the phone to GSM mode to use it. I've used the eKit service for years, starting with my incredible 2 which is another CDMA/GSM hybrid phone.
When moving about, I get service from Vodaphone, O2, AT&T UK, and probably others. I really don't understand why your phone isn't recognizing the SIM.
Is the service in your country CDMA by any chance? You don't use a SIM to activate a CDMA phone, so perhaps what you have is some proprietary thing that's not a standard GSM SIM.
I fixed my problem by using a different SIM card. When I put it, it picked up the network automatically.
I have a Verizon lg g3 I flashed the latest lollipop from Verizon after kdzing to stock. I run a T-Mobile sim. I reset the APN because I was having text failures. I then lost all service. My cell no longer picks up any service. The sim registers but that's it. Its constantly in a no service state. I kdz again back to stock still no service. What can I do? The sim was checked its fully functional...

im hardly a sim expert, but just because you can see your info, may not mean its not toast.
flashing can and has, many times, fried sims. i would get a new one, then go from there.
Hello all,
Please can someone help me?
Since yesterday my phone is not showing Emergency calls only when I light the screen up. When I unlock the phone I have a message telling me I have no service. Initially I only noticed that I had no mobile internet, but then realised that I could not even connect to Vodafone at all. So I have no service at all. I don't know what to do???
I took my phone to the Vodafone shop, where they put my sim card into another phone and it all worked fine, calls and internet. Then later it hit me that they didn't try another sim card in my phone, so I went back to them asking them to change my sim card all together as they had no spare nano sized sim cards. I got a new sim card but i still have the same problem as above.
I took my phone to the local Samsung service centre where they had a look at it. But all I got from them was to send it off to get repaired, so no real verdict at all.. bit disappointing. Samsung did however to a factory reset for me on my phone, again though all this did was wipe everything and the issue still remained.
Please can someone help me as I lovely phone which is about as good as a iPod
Update
p.s. phone was locked to Vodafone UK, but i use the phone with Vodafone Hungary, still needed to get it unlocked (strange) well i paid to have it unlocked and it worked just fine.

Hi, Yes, it has a number... I have added some more info if that helps at all?
Baseband version: G850FXXU1BOA2
Model number: SM-G850F
Network: Unknown
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile network state: Disconnected
Device status: Official
Just a thought, I could be way out of course. Just on a hunch, as this was locked to Vodafone UK and then I got it unlocked to use it in Hungary (HU). I just noticed the message on my phone is saying "No service, Selected network (Vodafone HU) Unavailable.

Hi, Yes I am doing this today, as I do need the phone. It seems this issue on the Alpha is not easily resolved. I can see the S2, S3, S4 and S5 have these issues as well, but none of their solutions are even coming close to working on the Alpha.
