Well trying to downgrade the touch driver so I can use AOSP rom's, since I bought the phone yesterday and it has hboot 3.1.6 I heard you can downgrade the touch drivers and use other roms (rather then the few that are for the new update)
I've looked around with no real instructions, first person to actually help and post some links and/or good instructions I'll donate a few bucks, Mean bean ROM is legit but I prefer CM on my phone or well any AOSP rom.
You have to be S-Off to downgrade tp drivers. If you are, go here for instructions.

If you aren't S-Off, this is probably the best method for you since you are on 3.16 software

I am S-off, but which link on the page is needed to download/flash?
"3.15.651.16 JellyBean OTA
"Full" Firmware zip
Includes Radio 1.12.11.1119, PRI 2.87_003 & a few other smaller updates.
NOT INCLUDED IN ZIP: HBOOT.img, recovery.img (stock), and boot.img
tp_SYN3202.img zip (for downgrading purposes only)
Boot.img Only (signed) | Mirror
Can be flashed through bootloader/fastboot while S-ON on newer HBOOT"
Second/bolded one?
And do I RUU it or flash?
Yes second bolded one. Save it to the root of your sd card, rename it PJ75IMG and just get into your bootloader and fastboot and it'll automatically downgrade.

Use the tp driver listed under the 3.15 firmware update. Put it on the root of your external SD card, and reboot to your bootloader, then run the update from there like you would a firmware update. The file is already named PJ75IMG.zip so there is no need to rename it.
After you're done, delete the file from your SD card.

So here's another theory of mine, the OTA files check cid correct? this is located in the build.prop file? Any others this can be found in that it checks for it?
Dark Nightmare said:
So here's my idea, well first of all I wanna know what changes other than system files, kernel and recovery when you upgrade from gb to ics? Is the Hboot the only other major change?
Since hboots can be upgraded via hboot using a PH85IMG, can we pull the hboot image or possible use the newer shp image we have, upgrade the hboots of mobilicity users maybe their kernels and recoveries as well, though those can be flashes via recovery, yeah, so back to the point here, can we pull the new Hboot from someone on ics or use the one we have, upgrade the s-on gb users hboot then have them flash the system files to manually update to ics? I'm gonna test the theory but since I'm s-off, my results may differ, that's why I need your opinions before we do a test of it.

You can't push the radio without S-OFF, the radio is just as important as the hboot. The only way to flash the radio while S-ON is to flash the entire Update.zip through hboot screen. And if you are not on T-Mobile you need to be S OFF

This isn't for a radio bro, though that makes me wonder why we can't do certain things on the amaze.
This is gonna be a cwm flashable of a telus stock with the mobilicity build.prop so users that are s-on stuck on GB due to them flashing a stock rom and not having a backup or it just not working for them to be able to flash my zip, restore the stock recovery and update with the OTA.
I would be so happy if this works .

Got pass the cid check using the swapped build.prop file, ran into a system's patch error when it checked another app, pm sent to my app provider....
It's not really a smart move to change the CiD without knowing how the radio is for that carrier. And flashing a RUU from another carrier is possible if it's not changing things like hboots
That is some progress
Now that I have s- off, how can I run the updates without running a new rom? I don't want to start from scratch.

I'm on baseband 1.05.11.0606 with s-off, rooted, running MeanROM 4.2. H-boot is 1.12. What would be the best way to update my radios/firmware? I thought I had done this through the pj75img method but I guess something went wrong.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
You're right, just put the PJ75IMG.zip from this thread on your external sd card and then boot into the bootloader. It will auto detect the zip and ask if you want to install update. Just know that once you upgrade you're stuck on that version since downgrading has resulted in bricking for a lot of people.

Best way is flashing the zip if you have s-off, otherwise its a hassle
So I can just download the file and installthe zip using twrp? Or just the use pj... method? Either is fine, would just grab the file without the hboot update.

I don't think firmware can be flashed from recovery. PJ75IMG updates must be flashed by the bootloader.

Ok cool. Thats what I thought, just wanted to be sure. I'll download and give it a try tonight. Any reason why I'd want to downgrade firmware ever? Unless a ROM isn't compatible.
Never attempt to downgrade firmware, it can be done but its more risk then its worth. A lot of people bricked their lte trying to downgrade but that was an hboot problem. Still I don't feel its worth it to downgrade
Thanks. Didn't plan to downgrade but I see the warnings about not doing it so was trying to figure out why someone would have to. I figured that's what led to the discovery that downgrading was a bad thing.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Well there are quite a few phones that have been exploited with a simple downgrade but I guess HTC did something because its pretty much a guaranteed brick. The only reason I could see to downgrade is ROM compatibility but all the ROMs are pretty much caught up and I don't think anyone ever actually managed to prove it was a legitimate fix
Downloaded and just flashed and confirmed its updated. Just wanted to say thanks.

I've been looking through the threads and haven't seen anything similar to the issue I have. I'm running the new meanbean except all my radios, hboot and all that is pretty out dated. Probably the reason why I can't get 4g yet the wife's phone, sitting next to mine, is showing full bars. I have been trying and trying to install any radio update, jewel pack I can find to update my radios. I'm running the latest version of twrp. Everytime I try to install any update pack through twrp it fails. I've even tried older versions, yet newer than mine, and still get the same results. Any help from you guys would be appreciated. S-OFF your phone then update firmware/radios. The only way to update your firmware while S-ON is to re-lock and take the OTA

Option 1 - Relock and run the 3.15 RUU. Then take the 3.16 OTA then Dev Unlock.
Option 2 - DirtyRacun to get S-OFF and head on over to Captain's thread for flashable that will update your radio, pri, nv, touchpanel etc.
Honestly I would recommend getting S-OFF while it is still available.

Did all that, most of the time I get the bad image message. When it does go through I'll get a blue status bar on the right, will fill up than will say parsing that particular file. After that, the parsing message goes away and that's it, goes back to hboot menu. It apparently never updates because my versions don't change above the menu.
I'm almost wondering if there's a hardware issue which could be causing the updates to not install.

Download this file and place it on the root of your external SD card:
http://d-h.st/mFj
Rename the file PJ75IMG. Some operating systems automatically hide the zip extension so check and make sure (it should appear as PJ75IMG.zip). Once you've done this reboot to the bootloader and update. If you are indeed S-off I can't imagine why it won't work otherwise.
