Did you use CWM or TWRP to make a backup prior to flashing a custom ROM? If so restore that backup and you're good to go back to the day right before you flashed a custom ROM. If you did not make a backup I'm not sure how to help you. Always make a back-up! I have so many back-ups just in case!

Hi there, I have a T-Mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero) and I want to go back to the stock T-Mobile ROM, but I've been told that if I re-flash then it'll brick my phone?
I'm running the latest version of VillainROM 10.3.2 and I found that I may need a Nandroid backup or something? If someone could possibly re-direct me to where I need to find a Nandroid recovery image for my phone, I'd be greatful!
Can you just confirm that I CAN/CAN'T re-flash my phone to Stock?
Help is appreciated! Thanks!
EDIT: I used flashrec to make a back up of the recovery image or some sort? On my SD card is "recovery-backup.img"? Does this help?
Thanks!
I am not sure how it will brick your phone and maybe someone here can advise you on this.
The recovery-backup.img is just an image of the stock bootloader that comes with your phone. If you wish to apply official OTA updates, you will need to restore to your stock bootloader using the flashrec app even after u have reverted to the stock ROM.
Hope it helps =)
Hey,
I have recently flashed and installed a custom CM7 rom to my Galaxy 5 but i am not happy with the results and i wish to go back to Stock 2.2- i stupidly didnt create a backup, so can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get back to stock, i am completely new to this kind of stuff so please try and keep it simple!

go to samfirmware.com and download the rom for your phone.
Then use odin to install it on your phone
Hi guys, I really need a big help over here . Before i flash my 2.1 to custom rom (the latest miui which looks very attractive ) i backup the rom using rom manager and flash my vibrant to the miui firmware then i backup it once more and i feel doesn't comfortable with it then i go for a backup again .When i intended to restore a error occur which is mdu5 missing (i think so) then i select my 1st backup (2.1) then i let my rom manager do it all but my vibrant NOW stuck in samsung home screen which doesn't move into vibrant screen . i try to get into download mode but no luck !!! Urgent need a big help !!!
By the way my vibrant is hardware locked .
ODIN to stock. From there root and flash the MIUI of your choosing. If you are trying to flash "ReVaMpEd" version, keep in mind you will still need to flash the "Original MIUI for US" first. Then the "ReVaMpEd". Either way that should get you to where you wanna be with MIUI, ENJOY!
If you ever plan to use the "nandroid" backup you made of the stock 2.1, you will need to ODIN back to stock, then root, and then restore the nandroid backup. Being that once on MIUI you will be on 2.3.5 gingerbread. You never wanna restore a backup of a different firmware then what you are currently running.
Good luck!

what he said above ....
i always almost prefer to Odin to stock even before I restore any backup. so I have a clean platform to work from.
Thanks for trying hard to solve my problem but the problem is .... i mention that my device is hardware locked means that i cant get through download mode ... is there anyway other way i can get into download mode ?
Buy a JIG. I honestly would keep trying the buttons though.
I know this is old but did you fix?
Hello everyone. I recently purchased the Rezound to test it out and see if I liked it. I have made the decision to send it back and keep my upgrade. I restored a nandroid backup that I made of stock rooted. I thought I was golden and would only need to remove the root apps and re-lock the phone. I went to turn the wifi on and received the "error". I've tried the steps at this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21442702&postcount=3) but I cannot get into recovery to do steps 1 through 3 first. My update to 2.01.605.11 happened immediately once I activated the phone so I am on the newest version.
Is there a way I can get my phone back to 100% stock out of the box? I understand that it will show as "re-locked", but from what I have read that wont be a problem when I return it. I came from the Droid X2 where we could SBF back to stock through RSD.
I should have known better than to begin rooting and modding before I was sure I was going to keep the phone.
Thank you all in advance for your help with this and I hope you all have a blessed day.

The RUU is the closest we have to SBF. Can you do a battery pull and get into HBOOT? If so then you can still run the RUU after you deal with the mainver problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467099
Here is the stock rooted rom. If you dont want to mess with the mainver and ruu.

Thanks guys. I kept fooling with my phone while waiting on your replies. I now have followed steps 1 and 2 in the link I provided above. I formatted my system in recovery as it stated. I am now in recovery but cannot select either of my two nandroid backups. I'm afraid to shut down or reboot. What now?
I'm ready to go back to my X2 where I know what I am doing!

In the Vigor rom collection on the development selection they now have posted the most recent RUU based on the OTA so you can flash that and you will be back to stock. Just have to be relocked and on stock recovery.
I was wondering if there was a way to extract the unlocked stock rom and make it into a flashable zip file like other roms. What I'm getting at is I have my unlocked stock rom set up the way I like it now, but want to try out custom roms. I don't want to have to go back thru the flashing of stock sbf, root, unlock, if I want to get back to where I'm at now, so was wondering if there was a way to somehow extract how my phone is now to a flashable zip, that way if I flash a custom rom, and don't like it, I can just flash my current set up back to the phone? Is this possible.
I know I can nandroid, but I'd have to go thru the whole process of putting the stock sbf back on which means relocking and all that process. Just hoping that there is a short cut hehe.

If you already have your unlocked stock ROM and have CWM, then just use nandroid back up to get back to where you were. You don't need to relock/flash sbfs. I have my stock ROM saved as a nandroid and can flash that to get back to it if I want.
Oh, I didn't realize that. I had a nandroid of my locked stock, but couldn't nandroid back to it once I unlocked and tried rocko rom, It kept giving me an error. Now that I have a nandroid of my unlocked stock, I should be able to nandroid back to it then since its unlocked correct? Also can I rename the backups to set "UnlockStock" without it hurting anything. I had an epic before and renamed a nandroid, and i couldn't restore it.
Don't rename.

I cant guarantee it will work for you, but ive renamed several of my backups, all i did was add at the end of the normal default-time-name was _CM9 or _Stock and they work no issue, ive used them several times. As long as you have no spaces and use _ you *should* be able to still use it fine. If your going to rename make sure you test and insure that you can still use if before you get yourself stuck in a hard place and need it and it doesn't work for you.
