[Q] Samsung Link not working - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello,
I recently rooted and flashed the hyperdrive rom on my s4. Didnt root my s3 and this has been the best decision since getting this phone. There were some minor issues, but all fixable(fixed) I'm having a problem now using samsung link on my tv. The S4 and TV (Samsung UN60ES7500) are both connected to my home router. I go in to Samsung Link to select my TV and it says to turn on file sharing within nearby devices so I go there and it wont let me turn on file sharing. Its all grayed out.
I have also try to deregister the TV from Link and no box pops up when I long press it. It will let me deregister my phone and PC which I have done, but not my TV. I've tried reconnecting both TV and phone to router, restarting my phone, logged in to samsungs site to see if I can somehow deregister my TV from there, but my phone and the site are not connected in any way. I'm all out of ideas. I'm open to try anything as of now. Let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks

Your supposed to use Screen Mirroring under connections.

Screen mirroring only works with an all share dongle or on the new F series Samsung TVs. I was able to use Samsung Link a couple weeks ago to send videos straight to my tv.

[Q] How to setup wi-fi direct?

Hi all,
Just wondering how to setup wi-fi direct? I've gone into the menu and enabled it, hit scan, but it doesn't find either of my 2 laptops.
Do the laptops have to be wi-fi direct certified as well or is there some sort of configuration I have to do to make them available to the phone?

i wish i knew mate, i'm pestering people to find out myself. nobody seems interested. i was linked this video, but the guy is hard to understand and it doesn't work in the way he demonstrates it on my laptop. maybe his is wifi direct certified - thats not really clear ether. have a look anyway, maybe you can figure something out.

wi-wfi direkt is disabled on newer devices by samsung.......... because they have problems with licenses
I use wifi direct to send files from my phone to my friend's phone (he also has the Galaxy S II). Works perfectly and is really fast.

So I guess both devices must be wi-fi direct certified, because my phone doesn't pickup my laptop at all (which is about 3 years old).
Intel Wifi dashboard
there is a programm called intel wifi dashboard , this program enables wifi direct on laptop and then your laptop will be discovered by GSII
WIFI direct is like a private network between your laptop and your GS2 or just 2 GS2 that enables you to transfer files up to 1 Gb in size in just 2 or 3 mins ( i tried it myself by sending a 730 mb wmv file ) without the need of setting up a wireless network
and obviously it's much more faster and effiecent than bluetooth
Has anyone managed to transfer files between Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 and PC using Intel Dashboard?
I can get my Samsung SMART TV to detect my Android Phone

Okay, so I just rooted my phone and flashed a new ROM and it has Wifi-Direct option on it which basically, you just tick to enable and cannot configure. Since my Samsung SMART TV was wifi-Direct certified, I opened the Wifi-Direct Menu and it just detected my phone. It told me that I could either connect by pushing the Wifi-Direct Button on my Device (PBS Way) or by entering the TV-generated PIN on my Device( PIN Way). But I cannot see a "Enter the PIN" Notification pop up on my Android Device. Let me try a Third-Party App and lets see how it goes.

There's an app called Superbeam, that works on android, mac, windows and linux. I use it to transfer files between my Nexus 5, a Galaxy Tab2 and my PC. it works great.

DLNA not working?

I am new to the DLNA. I have a PS3, a Google Revue, and a Samsung DLNA-compliant TV. However, I'm not sure how to stream media to those devices. I have used the Connected Media app, but nothing shows up on the EVO 3D nor the other devices. I read that other people talked about the Share Media app, but I couldn't find it on my phone. Did I do anything wrong?
UPDATE: Finally got it to work. It's really the problem of the wireless bridge. If I have the devices on the same router/access point, it works! Thanks for the tip.
I am having the same problem. The only way I can make my homenetwork connect to eachother is to reset my router. But after a day or two the connection is gone unless I reset my router again. So I am guess the automatic IP assining conflicts causing the problem.
can you give me more information about your setup, like which devices are you using?
I have a ASUS RT-N13U router with WPA2 security.
The app is called media share and it is a default program on stock. You just have to start it, select what you want to share and go to the other device and it should automatically see it.

I don't have Media Share on my stock Rogers ROM, not sure why they removed it. I read everywhere that people were talking about this Media Share app, but I don't know if there is any way to download it elsewhere. Is it an Android stock or HTC stock app?

Stupid question, but you do have you phone connected to the same Wireless router as the devices you are trying to send the media to? My Sony just shows up in the Connected Media app. And I click on it and it streams right away, never had to do anything. If so, maybe it is a DCHP issue on your router. Try enabling DCHP.
Also, I do not think it is compatitable with PS3. I cannot do it that way, just my TV over WIFI.

The phone and the TV is technically on the same network, but not on the same router, since I am using a wireless bridge to bridge the 2 routers together. Not sure if that caused the problem? I'll try to connect them on the same router and restart the router to see if that helps.
Finally got it to work. It's really the problem of the wireless bridge. If I have the devices on the same router/access point, it works! Thanks for the tip.

[Q] allshare, direcy wifi issues

Hello!
I'm begging You to help me with this issue!
I don't have so much knowledge with network/wifi issues...
So to start here... I have a samsung galaxy s 2 and I also bought a home cinema HT-E5500 (samsung) wich have wifi, dlna, wifi direct and allshare feature.
I'm struggling for days to use the wifi direct and the allshare feature and cant find an answer even on many forums....
I have a "cursed" belkin f5d7234-4-h v5 router... The home cinema and SII (ICS4.04) have the latest updates...
At the direct wifi: I enable it on the phone and than I search devices on the home cinema... I find the SII and I connect them (it says connected to SII and on SII it says its connected to home cinema) but when I try to send a photo music or video through wifi direct from the phone I cant find any device in the list...
What could it be? They don't use the router here and they also CONNECT to each other but I cant send files....
At AllShare feature: I connect both devices to the router: ( in the router settings at LAN > DHCP Client List I can only see my SII listed although the home cinema is on and surfing the web) I enter allshare from home cinema and when I open allshare from SII it says again no device found...
I don't understand the problem... The devices aren't broken since both can surf the web....
I also read the manual for home cinema and SII and followed every steps...
I also want to mention that I my PC is connected through wire to the router and I tried the kies, allshare, and share manager softwares without success... They dont detect the device....
I also tried to connect the home cinema wired to the router and try allshare with SII but, without success.
Should I forward some ports on the router??? If yes... What are they and on wich IP address should I forward them??
(I saw some suggestions on some forums but without specifying the IP address)
Please.. If someone have suggestions on what else should I try please don't hesitate.... I'm searching for an answer for days.
Thank You,
Alex

I'm expert by no mean, but it seems to me that allshare play won't work via direct wifi. Devices need to be connected to teh same wifi network, but not direct wifi.
I might be wrong, I'm experiencing myself.

Use chromecast with 4G connection ? I have no secondary device with wifi

Yes I bought the chromecast V2 but I could never believe this stupid limitation that you can use it only with wifi conection which means you need a secondary device to make this work.
I have a fast and reliable 4G speed so I have no need to invest in any wifi solution.
I hope this is a joke ? must be some way around it ? (without root)

I use mine every day with only my phone's LTE signal through its hotspot. The trick is you have to use another phone to set up the chromecast to connect to it initially. You only need to do this one time to get the chromecasts's settings set properly, and then just turn hotspot on on your phone, chromecast will see it and connect every time.
I think the chromecast app is the only one that requires wifi on before it will even attempt to look for a receiver, because in my experience, streaming apps like netflix, hbo, youtube and comedy central dont consider what radio connects to where at all before the cast icon pops up.
Something else you can do to get that initial setup done is to connect it to another wifi AP with the SSID and WPA2 password set to whatever you want your phone's hotspot to use. Im pretty sure the chromecast only look at the network name and security (not MAC or anything like that) becasue ive done this a few times without issue.

That's what I'm saying.
The reason it doesn't work setting it up that first time is because that process involves both Chromecast and phone using the app fsetting it up to first connect directly to each other, then both connect to the same AP, then talk to each other again for through that network, WITH internet access at the same time. That's really hard to switch radios around fast enough (not impossible though) and still get it to accept and keep the settings for good
---------- Post added at 05:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:53 AM ----------
Also, once you get it working, youll probanly want to use a laptop or something like that to be the device that you use to tell the Chromecast what to play... It works better that way, and you can to use your phone for other stuff while that's going on if you want. You can cast local media from a PC with way better results as well, using something like Plex or the Videostream plugin in Chrome
i am a little confused here, use another device to set up connection and then use your own device right after? how is that going to work if its two different connections?
I just got chromecast and have no WiFi or hot spot but could take to a place to set it up but when I got back home could I use it to mirror my phone screen

I am also a bit confused. Could someone please spell it out step by step to idiots like me? Is there a link or YouTube video?

Are u needing help with the set-up process?
You need a 2nd local device to setup Chromecast.
1. Turn on cell phone hotspot (lets say name is Chase)
2. Connect 2nd device to Chase
3. Using 2nd device, setup your chromecast to connect to chase. TURN GUEST MODE ON
4. Once everything is set up and your chromecast is connected to Chase, you can use your smartphone running the hotspot to connect to the chromecast via the Pin. The 2nd device is no longer necessary.
Without something to connect the chromecast to the phone, I see no way to do it.
Side note, the pin feature can sometimes allow you to use your chromecast on hotel wifis that do not normally work.
---
OP, is there no where near you like a internet cafe, staples, library, anywhere that might have a computer with internet access with wifi? What about a smart phone shop like Verizon or Tmobile? Use one of their demo phones to do it.

I have same issue like this. The only thing is I don't use a Chromecast. I hook up my TV with LAN (Old Sony Bravia) to my router and my phone to same routers WiFi. So I am able to share and connect with TV. No issues. I have a crappy wired internet connected to it. I also have unlimited 4G plan on my phone. I use AllConnect to cast from my Phone to TV. Now I am able to cast Movie HD app via AllConnect on my TV. But as soon as I disconnect the wired internet from my router. I am not able to cast. I want to use my Phones 4G internet to stream on my TV. Theoretically it should be possible to cast using my routers LAN which I am able to. But as soon as I disconnect DSL cable from my router the streaming stops. Can anyone help me here.
Another way

Hello
You can also spoof the MAC of the chromecast on your phone and configure the chromecast by this way.
However you need to have root access on your phone to install a software like Mac Changer.
This solution is very usefull in an hotel which require a connection to an open wifi network and a second authentification with login and password.

View and Control Nokia 8 from PC

Hi all,
Just bought my Nokia 8 the other day. Got it for AUD$499! from Harvey Norman - who was out of stock - but price matched by JB Hi-fi.
I was using a Samsung Note 4, which was doggone slow. Might be resetting that one and putting it up for sale - any potential takers?
My Note 4 used SideSync, which connected to by PC via USB cable. Sidesynced allowed me to see and control my Note4 on my PC. I can do everything on the phone from my PC - I liked sending texts and SMS for example.
There doesn't appear to be an equivalent for the Nokia 8. I have seen alot of mirroring apps that require screen casting, but none which allows connection via USB.
The question - what is the equivalent out there to SideSync (which is only compatible with Samsung phones. I've tried it and it does not work). I've enabled USB debugging. The Nokia 8 says SideSync keeps closing. I can see the phone from my PC as it's connected by USB - so I can see the files on the phone from my PC - but cannot see the phone's screen or do anything to the phone.
Thanks all.
Hi,
You could try AirDroid if you know, which it gives you the option to control the phone and send texts and many other things. The only thing which i don't know if it suits you, is that it syncs through the wifi network... You connect the phone to your wifi network, and from your pc you go to a link that the app gives you and scan the QR code and thats it...
Try it maybe it will do the job for you.

Thank you for responding. I really want a USB connection to the PC as going over the air through my companies WiFi I am sure will slow things down. I have looked at Apowermirror and they want you to pay to use it and it's UI is a bit clunky. There's also Wondershare Go, but there doesn't seem to be an app on the playstore for screen mirroring, though I did do this with my Note 4.
MyPhoneExplorer
Hello, give a try to My Phone Explorer. It's free and very straight forward I think. I used it without issues.
If you Google it you'll find a link from fjsoft, that's the right one.
Good luck.
Hello, i use Vyzor to cast the screen of my N8 on my PC by using the usb connection.
The application can be used as free but if you need some quality you will need the paid version.
