So, the question is .... do we have any tablet is lighter and thinner 10 inch tablets on the market ? and are there any other water proof tablets ? ( other than Sony)
No, otherwise Sony wouldn't have branded the XTZ as the thinnest and lightest 10 inch tablet on the market. Idk about waterproof tablets.
Eventually something will come though.

Having thin tablets is nice, but as soon as you put a cover on the tablet it will always be thicker. Personally i think that the tablet Z is just on the good side of the thinnes scale. Any thinner and it would be uncomfortable to hold. Less weight is always good.
Eventualy we will end up with a tablet having the size and weight of a sheet of paper, i assume.
The XPERIA Tablet Z's still holding onto its title of world's thinnest and lightest 10.1" tablet, but indeed something will come eventually. Companies are racing to build the thinnest smartphone, and soon that will occur in the tablet space.
But the XPERIA Tablet Z's also one of the only high end water-resistant slates, and likely will remain the thinnest water-resistant slate for a long time.

Has anyone tried this for their G Tablet? There are two reviewers that said they bought it for their Gtab. One says its tight but works, and the other says it doesn't fit but the review isn't too credible.
I'm looking for a folio case (or whatever case that can act as a stand) that I can buy from Amazon since I am a prime member and need the case quickly. This case looks perfect if it does fit.
Don't own one, but looking at the pictures, I don't see how the Viewsonic would fit without extending past the actual 'book/cover' itself. The Gtablet is an inch wider and inch shorter than the Ipad.
I'm actually not that concerned if it hangs out a bit as long as its held in there still (which is looks like it could if material stretches enough). I think I'll stop by a best buy today with my G tab and try to fit it into some ipad cases to get a general idea.
Found a good one here, hopefully will generate enough interest to make it happen.

I'm so surprised no one is making these. It was a must have for my TF101. Now that I have the TF201, It feels naked and vulnerable.
I hope this gets made by someone soon. Like I said, it feels naked without the rubber skin protection.

Stop spreading misinformation, the Prime is not discontinued.
The new Transformer tablets consist of a budget model designed to replace the original Transformer (and with reduced specs & features to match) and a more expensive "premium" tablet with a higher res display and a price to match. The Prime will continue to be the "mainstream" model for at least the next year.
The main reason there are so few accessories for the Prime, is that people don't know if it will sell well so they don't bother pre-making accessories like they do for the iPad. If you follow the release of the Xoom of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 you will see that in the first few months 3rd party accessories for those specific tablets were also very sparse.

The Transleeve was garbage. It has an 80% failure rate, as in: it fell apart in people's hands during normal usage. Also it has the unfortunately tendency to physically damage every Tablet it was used with.
Hopefully Asus will release an updated version that fixes these problems.
However that doesn't mean that the Transformer Prime tablet has been discontinued. There is no evidence and until you provide me a link to Asus explicitly stating that the tablet is disco'ed stop spreading misinformation.
Incidentally, the TP300 and TP700 both use identical mounting ports to the TF Prime, so any future versions of screen protectors like the Transleeve should be backwards compatible with the Prime since all tablets have the same size screen. Perhaps they discontinued the Transleeve because they have a better accessory set to be released with these new additions to the Transformer Pad line.
This is what I want.
A little thinner mind you, but a silicone case is my desire.
Sighz, I used to have a very nice case for my samsung galaxy s2. Silicone inside, hard case outside. It was totally AWESOME! See this ->
ebay.com.sg/itm/Black-Orange-Silicone-Combo-Case-Cover-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-I9100-/190612983403?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item2c616b4e6b
It looks cool and doesn't scratch your phone at all!
Some are hard cover inside, and silicone outside - i had them for my iphone but it scratched my iphone! See this -> ebay.com.sg/itm/Hard-Case-w-Soft-Skin-Rubber-Silicone-Cover-iPhone-3G-3GS-Black-Orange-/140680538736?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item20c136aa70
Thus I'm hesitant about getting a gumdrop case for my prime, because the hardcase is on the inside while the silicone is outside.
CAN SOMEONE MAKE THE FIRST ONE FOR THE TRANSFORMER PRIME??!! DON'T MIND PAYING MORE FOR IT! HAHAHA
I too want a TPU case for my Prime and am disappointed one has not been released yet. I have seen the androidtablet thread gauging interest in a silicone case, and I might buy one of these for use in rugged conditions, but it appears they would be thick and I want a thin one for daily use and much prefer tpu to thick rubbery silicone.
I currently have the next best thing to a tpu case and that is the roocase dual view leather case. It is two pieces - one is a sleeve that protects the back, sides, and bezel like a silicone or tpu case would. The other part is a folding case that attaches to the sleeve with velcro and will allow it to stand in portrait or landscape and at various angles. I don't use that part much, though, since I prefer cheap, sturdy universal tablet stands (about $6 on ebay) and have them at work and home, so don't need to carry the external part of the roocase.
With the roocase sleeve and a screen protector, the thing is well protected and I can throw it in my (large) lunchbox or a pocket (in a scottevest vest or jacket - yes I am a _real_ nerd and own these) and not worry about dropping or scratching it. The leather of the roocase sleeve is thicker than a tpu or thin silicone case would be, although it looks like it is smaller than a thick silicone case such as the guy on androidtablets is proposing.
It is a pita that the leather of the roocase sleeve protrudes more than it needs to and makes the power button hard to reach. Plus it makes the Prime almost an inch larger in both height and width and almost doubles the thickness. So, yes, I really want a tpu case like everyone else but the roocase sleeve is the only substitute there is for now.
Gumdrop case
You guys should google gumdrop case tf201, they are starting production and will start shipping April 16.
The Gumdrop is cool but way to much case for me
Hi folks,
Does anybody know why Sony chose a more carbon back cover for the tablet compared to the cell phone version, as that is a lot more glossy?

Because the design engineer's girlfriend doesn't like glossy.
It's the weight and thinness Sony wanted to achieve. Besides, on the tablet it would become a larger area to show off fingerprints and smudges on the glass.

Thanks for the non-humorous reply, buddy.
The glossy backing of the phone is nicer, I would admit, but can be a bit slippy to grasp, being on a phone, however, that doesn't matter as much because most would choose to hold their phone at its edges.
With a tablet that is simply not possible because of its size, so there's a simple practicality to what Sony decided on more than simply weight class. - perhaps.

To be honest, i prefer the current design for the tablet, looks and feel better, it's like a matte black.
My guesses are;
1. weight of glass versus plastic
2. size of surface area to show fingerprints
3. Tablet might be held on your hand rather than gripped
personally, I strongly prefer the matte plastic finish they used, it is actually much classier and nicer looking in my opinion. Plus, I can hold it on my palm at a 75 degree angle! It doesn't slip at all, because the matte surface has such good grip. It helps make the already lightweight tablet very easy and comfortable to hold.
I bought the Noreve leather case for the Tablet Z about a month ago, due to the lack of availability of the official Sony case. I did a small review of it on a Dutch forum before, and I will post the English version of it here (click on the pictures to enlarge):
I have ordered the Noreve Sony Xperia Tablet Z leather case on the 8th of July. It's shipped the next day, and in less than 24 hours, my case has traveled from Marseille to the Netherlands. After opening the DHL shipping bag, you directly get the feeling that you have a quality product in your hands.
After opening the box, the dustbag appears. The case is in here to protect it during travel or storage against damage.
Once you remove the case from the dustbag, the smell of leather dominates instantly. On the front side of the case, the Noreve logo can be seen. Under the piece of leather, a soft material has been applied. This gives the front side a nice soft touch. Unfortunatly, there's no magnet in the case, so the screen does not turn on/off automatically.
On the rear side, the text "NOREVE SAINT-TROPEZ" can be seen. The soft material is not applied on the rear side. Instead, a hard material is used to improve the ruggedness of the case. There's an opening for the camera.
In the inside of the case, a layer of leather with the Noreve pattern is applied. The edge of the case does not cover the screen borders, so the screen can still be easily used in the corners.
You can tilt the case in 4 different angles for use on table.
Of course the case can also be used "flat".
Everything can be reached at the sides, however the power button has become a little harder to press. The dock connector can also be reached. Unfortunately, I can't test if this case is compatible with the dock, because I don't own it. But you can fold the rear side of the case backwards, so I'm pretty sure it can be used with the dock.
Unfortunately, the USB port cannot be reached when the case is closed. This is also the case with the Micro SD/SIM slot. But this should not be a big problem because they don't need to be changed constantly.
The case closes with a handy clip. Because of this, you can always be assured the screen is protected during transport.
This case costs €84,99 on Noreve's website. With the coupon code "mobigeeks" (without quotes) this becomes €76,49 including shipping, just a little cheaper then the official Sony case in my country. Adding up that the inside of this case is also made of leather, unlike the official case, the production costs should be little higher then of the official case. This makes this case a little better "value for money". A quite important con is that the USB port cannot be reached when the case is closed. If you're looking for a case for the Xperia Tablet Z and you want it delivered fast and price is not a problem, or you're looking for a high quality genuine leather case for the Xperia Tablet Z, I highly recommend this one.
Did you like my little review? A simple click on the "Thanks" button would be appreciated. For the Dutch speaking readers, here's a link to the Dutch version: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_message/40540897#40540897
I'm keen on buying the Z2 but the main thing that puts me off is the feel of it in my hand. I tried holding it in a shop and it felt awkward to hold due to its quite hard and script edges. Does a case make it more comfortable to hold?
Also, have you found a case causes any overheating issues?
I'm using a Z2 with a Spigen case from Amazon, in my opinion it adds minimal bulk but the grip has increased and its edges do not dig into my hands like the naked phone can sometimes.
As for temperature, in my experience with the Z2 it only heats up during intensive processes, like video recording or heavy data usage. This case does not actively warm the phone.
I have a case, mine overheated when in about 25C outside. I was using the camera + 4k as well. The case is the official one, makes it easier to hold and feels safer in my hand!
i bought one of these mainly because I'm a clumsy bugger and haven't yet noticed any issues. TBF i only got it this morning but it looks good improves the feel, I to am struggling with the angularity and most importantly protects it.
Thanks for the info guys I think I'd definitely need a case for it, I drop phones too often!
just a note
i dropped my z2 about 16 times and i had no damage, no cracks, minor scuffs
drop height avg=3ft
max height=7ft
minimum=2cm
xperias are usualy tough exterior wise
I bought the official flip case and it is comfortable to hold. I also like that it folds into a stand. However the phone does heat up more than normally while in the case.
After using the case for a few days I quit using it regularly since I like the amazing high quality feel of the naked phone in the hand. Having no problems with it being slippery although I have fairly small hands for a guy who's 6 ft tall.
Another thing to note is that us lefties are never taken into consideration while producers design flip cases since they always open from the wrong side :S

Samsung Galaxy S I9000
Asus Padfone 2
Sony Xperia Z2
