Storage space question - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

HI'm thinking about moving from my GNexus to the S4 (Verizon).
Wondering if what's actually available of the 16GB internal storage is enough. I think I read something like 11GB? Seems like it should be for me. Screen shots of my data below...
I'm only using 1.44 GB for my apps and their data. Other big users are pics/video from the camera, TWRP backups Titanium Backup, and some files I store in the 1-JB directory. I believe that all of my heavy hitters except the Apps/data could be pointed to an SD card I get for the S4, making the internal 16GB storage space more than enough. I don't game on my phone, and don't download Google Music in the Google Music app, and can't think of any other things I'd be doing to fill up the internal space.
Related to that expectation, I wanted to confirm that the data below can be pointed to the external SD card on the S4:
- Pictures/Video from the camera - can you tell the S4 camera to store everything on the SD card?
- TWRP backups - can you direct TWRP to use the SD card (or does it do so automatically if one is present)?
If both of those are possible I don't think I'll hit any storage space wall anytime soon - the main significant storage space uses are things that as far as I can see I can put on the SD card (I'll get either 32GB or 64GB) where space will be plentiful.
Am I missing anything obvious here?
Thanks.

Oops, I got it wrong above - it's 9 GB free, not 11 GB out of the box.
But it still seems like given my own usage pattern that the 9GB should be more than enough. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something here in my calcs, and confirm that the camera can be pointed at the SD card to save/store all images and video.

Camera photos and video can be sent to ext-sd, but burst shots must be saved to the device. They can be moved manually from there.

Thanks, that's great to know, appreciate it.

Yes you can have twrp backups directed to your sd card. Im doing the same.

If you are running or going to run ANY ICS rom::::LOOK HERE FIRST

There is a very real bug that is happening to our phones that is completely and totally random and will hit you with no warning. It is called the Encryption Error Bug and will render your /data partition as useless. Meaning that you will no longer have access to your internal_SD card or any of it contents.
I am making this thread as a warning to all who are either running or thinking about running an ICS ROM. Post here if you like or not (there are already multiple threads about the work arounds and questions, but in almost every one of them, there is a post that say, "I've never heard of this" or "I don't know what happened, but I got this bug".
If your files on your internal_SD are important to you (i.e pictures of your new born baby or a saved voicemail from your long lost grandmother, MAKE A COPY OF YOUR INTERNAL and save it to your PC.

DO NOT HIT RESET repeat DO NOT HIT RESET
It is a bug that is hitting all ICS ROMS (AOSP-Passion, AOKP-Zen/Euphoria, Docmasters, CM9,...) on many different types of phones (Captivate, Vibrant, I-9000) and someone got hit with it in my OG Transformer Tablet (TF101) forums too.

I've read this before but it has recently resurfaced and I feel it should be in this thread, if only as a reference post.

[Q] 2 Different Camera Folders??

Is anyone else having this problem? For some reason, I have two folders called Camera and my pictures have been randomly going to one or the other rather than just one folder. Pretty annoying as I have to constantly shuffle back and forth to find some pictures.
My camera is set to save on my SD card as well.

i found that even when you have the camera set to store photos in the external sd card.. when you take burst shots.. it will still store them in the internal. i belive taking photos while video recording is the same as well.
Mine has done the something. On mine one folder was on the phone the other in the sdcard. I have my storage setting to sdcard as well. If you play around in the camera app you will notice that when changing some setting (for example burst mode) it will automatically change the storage back to the phone. This is so it can use the fast memory of the phone rather then the slower sdcard to keep up with all those pics. I'm pretty sure this is what's happening for you too.
Check with a file explorer, "my files" that came with the phone will work, and see if you have pics on both the "sdcard" and "extsdcard". If so then that's what's happening.
You can also check while using you camera there is a little icon in the top right, I think it is. It looks like a small phone or sdcard depending on were it's going to save.

That's weird. I just checked and burst shot is the only one that goes to my phone but I don't even take burst shots...
This is confusing haha. Possible bug?
So you do have some pics on you sd and some in internal right?
If you have you some other app to take pics other than the stock camera, the directory it's saving those pics to could be different.

I think it has something to do with the speed of your microsd. Maybe if you get a higher class sd card, it'll start storing burst shots on your external sd. That's just a guess. The same thing happens on my phone, but I'll get a class 10 card eventually to try it out.

These new rules regarding where things are saved are definitely a little frustrating, because it's different and not as efficient and organized as it could be. My attachments from mms can't be automatically saved to extsd either from what I can see. I'm still in love with this phone though.

app migration - GB to ICS

I'm trying to get data moved over from my previous phone (an Epic - non-touch) to the Note for a book catalog app. On the epic I've found the data I want - I think - under .android_secure, but I don't know where to put that on ICS for the note.
I'd REALLY prefer not to have to duplicate this work since there are 350+ books in my catalog, and the majority had to be entered by hand. Where can I drop the file from the epic into ICS so it's readable? I can't even FIND .android_secure on ICS and I've tried everywhere, including / (above /sdcard).
I guess as a secondary issue - can anyone recommend a good book catalog app where this is not likely to be an issue a second time?
What file manager are you using on the Note? That folder is there, but probably hidden. You need to show hidden files.

I was using estrongs file explorer, with the 'show hidden' option already enabled. I can see other stuff that has a . at the front, but no .android_secure
-edit-
I also tried with the stock 'my files' app, 'show hidden' enabled, still no dice.
Hmmmmm..I have it.
Guess you could try adding it. Not sure what would happen though. Can't hurt.

Where is this, on the internal memory (aka /sdcard) or the removable sd slot (aka /sdcard/external_sd)?
Its on internal. Seems like a strange spot for the data to be in. Did you check under /sdcard/Android/data and see if that apps data folder is in there?

Yep. There is nothing there except a cache folder where a csv file is created when doing a catalog export. I've written the developer with questions, since there's apparently supposed to be an import feature but I sure as hell can't find it, and there's no separate feature list for free/pro since november of last year.
Strange...then I guess give it a shot and see what happens. Good luck.

I think I finally found the bit with instructions on how to import the data. Now I just need to generate a fresh export on my old epic. Oy.
Thanks for the attempts at help, folks! The request for any recommendations for a bookshelf catalog app still stands :]
Root your epic. Buy titanium backup. Back it all up to SD card. Root your note, install titanium backup. Restore your USER apps. NOT system apps. Stuff should be there

Questions regarding a stock app and Jelly Bean

Hi there. As the title suggests, I have a few questions about a certain stock app and another for Jelly Bean 4.2.
1.- I'd like to know if anybody can know what this app does. I didn't notice it till today, and before you ask anything, my phone is new, it has only 3 days of use, and it's not rooted. For those curious, it's a BLU Dash 5.0 running JB 4.2. I can't read chinese but as I was saying, I find it a little, odd, to have it as a stock app. Why stock? Because I can't uninstall it but I can disable it. I haven't done so since I don't know what the app does. Here are the screenshots:

2.- My next question regards the RAM. I know Jelly Bean is slightly different and heavier than ICS, but is the RAM I have in my screenshot, well, normal for the activities running? (My phone has 512 mb as the minimum required). Of course, I have no idea if it's an issue since I experience no lag. (Sorry if it's a noobish question ), yet on ICS, I had around 130 mb or so free. But does having free RAM really matter?
I appreciate any response given, thank you for your time.
Hi. For the first, disable it and see if anything useful stops working. It's probably not tied in with anything you actually need. If it is? Enable it.
For the second, don't worry about RAM. If there is no lag then it's a good thing. RAM keeps necessary stuff at the ready. In fact, not having things in RAM can create lag for that very reason.
Hope this helps, mate. Cheers.

Edit: forgot to affirm that yes, JB needs more RAM, and with only 512 you won't have much still free.

Thanks for your quick reply! So, the RAM issue is normal? Oh thanks, I thought that the app I mentioned was tied to the RAM, but I guess it's not. Thank you!
Okay, I just got that weird app to show up on my RAM, apparently it runs 2 services called "UI service" and "SS". Also it has the name of com.port.win... Any ideas about it?
EDIT: Wait, it was another chinese app I had on my downloads. I didn't download that! Is this a wormhole or something??? I just uninstalled it.
Information about what this log does?
Okay, sorry for double posting by the way. I found this log inside my SD Card and was wondering if it's related to the app. Can somebody please tell me what this log does? I'll leave it as an attachment.
As always, I appreciate any help given thanks.
(By the way, I removed my IMEI from inside the log for security reasons).

Peculiar Galaxy A50, should I be alarmed and dig further?

Hi, so I recently bought a Galaxy A50. When I brought it home and started looking around through the apps and settings, I noticed somethings that sort of alarmed me. I'm such an incredible noob about all these sorts of things I really don't know where to start. I'm hoping someone here has answers or can point me in the right direction. I just wanted to add right off the bat that the sales people who sold the phone to me came off a little fishy in the store, so I was a little uneasy from the get go. I can elaborate if anyone's interested. One peculiarity that underlies this entire post is that while in airplane, it seemed that some things were still able to open/access the web.
First off, I took the sim card tray out, and it didn't look like the stock sim card tray I saw in Youtube videos. For starters, there's a circle in the second sim slot that's not in the stock sim tray from the video. It also differs from the stock sim tray in the video in that there appears to be metallic bits at the end. As a precaution, I taped up the second slot and put it back in the phone. The odd thing is, when I took the sim card tray out again after putting the tape on, it there were indents/impressions in the tape right where the circle is. This is the video I used as a reference for a stock sim card tray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RprD9McCwc4

Second, there's an app called SIM Card Manager that doesn't appear in the apps menu. It only appears if you search for it. The permissions it has seems pretty gnarly. But you can only see the full permissions if you click the 3-dots. At first blush, it has no permissions.
,
,
Third, the configapk app was also a little fishy. From what I gathered, configapk tells the phones which apps to autoinstall as part of the carrier/manufacturer setup. The weird thing is, when I click disable and confirm the disable, I get a weird popup asking if I want to replace the app with the factory version.
,
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? There's some other minor issues I won't waste your time with unless you think this is a sign of something. How do I dig deeper? Thank you all so much for any info you can offer.
EDIT: I figured out how to do images.
