I'm quite disappointed, I only got this Tablet on Friday and realise that it will no longer charge unless I hold the cable down when it is plugged into it (computer also won't recognise it until I hold the cable down). The charging port is extremely loose. I have contacted the sellers so will wait to see what they have to say :crying:
Has anyone else experienced issues with the micro USB port?

I haven't experienced any problems with charging my XTZ yet, but i have noticed that since i bought it the Micro USB cable seems to move around a lot (a lot of slack) while in the charging port.
On other devices micro usb port has got trapezoid like shape but in sony Z products(phone and tablet) port is rectangular which in my opinion is causing loosness of the cable. I have some slack there as well but it is not causing any problems. I guess it is a design problem and only thing we can do, is to be careful and do not wiggle it too much

I tried an HTC charging cable in my XTZ the other day and i had to at least mention it on here, but it seems to have a lot less wiggle room than the sony charger cable does :/

Starting to have problems with my USB Connector i think!
Basically, if i plug it in, nothing happens, doesn't charge!
If i wiggle it around and hold it in a set place, it starts to work/charge.
Im guessing this means there is a problem with the USB port on the mainboard of the phone?
Hell yeah, seems to happen alot in x10. That's what happened to me, then it fried my battery and wouldn't connect at all to charger or PC. Had to send it off for repair, luckily still under warranty tho. They fixed it, I now take real care when connecting.

Think it could actually be my charger!
Just tried my brothers Blackberry charger, same connection. Plugged in works fine, no waggling needed at all!
Im guessing maybe the connection on the inside of the cahrger is dying or, the hole in the charger has gotton a little too big and doesn't fit snugly in the X10 anymore!
Be carefully using blackberry charger, runs different volt/amp and wont do your battery much good in long run. Get a new Sony charger.

Yeah, was just to test!
Ordered myself a new EC-700 Genuine cable off ebay
ya i had a simler issue with my x10 i used
org sony charger adapter + sony usb cable
moto usb + sony charger
blackberry mini usb with micro adapter + sony charger
allso tryed a iphone usb wall adapter (but that was after i found my micro port to be not responding to anything)
a blackberry usb with micro adapter
an a blackberry wallk charger with micro adapter
sum how sum way my micro usb port got fryed an i had to send my phone back to att to get a new one thank god it happend 35 days in to the 90 day warnty
anyway just got my new one 3 days ago and am only going to use sony usb cable and moto usb cable with the pc an the sony wall usb adapter also the usb tweeks/mod to speed up data transfer rate are allso a bad idea i wrote my own script for that as well and that probly played sum part in the port frying anyway the best idea is to use sony chargers and replacement chargers for the x10 usbcables i think are ok but thats what im testing now so dont take my word for it. =P
My USB is starting to not always connect. not gonna send it away yet but will probably have to eventually.
ya i had to send mine it woudnt charge pc woudnt see it hell i had to wifi a stock rom to it to restore it so the ppl at the att store woudnt try the oh you rooted your phone we cant take it back thing.
So I was charging my phone and using it at the same time...and the charger doesnt stay in. its so loose....anyone else have this problem?
When my wife and I first got our Captivates her connection was really loose and would fall out. It turned out to be the plug itself, so maybe you can take it back to where you bought it from and ask for a new one.
This is my third Samsung android phone (captivate and nexus s), and it seems to be a common issue. I think its the cable though, as an HTC cable is nice and snug.

Have you tried plugging in another cable yet? Micro USB is a pretty common cable these days.
No problems with loose connections here.
In MicroUSB, the springs are moved from the device to the cable - so try another cable.
I am having chatting issues. This just started happening when I woke up this morning. I forget if the micro USB is supposed to click when you plug it in the phone to start to charge. When I plug my phone in, I don't get any indication that the cable is locked in. Also if I move the cable ever so slightly. The phone will stop chatging. The USB cable feels like its gonna come out if I move the phone in any way.
I don't have any spare micro USB cable so I wanted to know if you guys are think this is a hardwarw problem or possibly if just the cable is messed up. Im hoping its the latter because I am not trying to replace my phone.
Also have any of you guys had this problem? Thanks
This isn't a question and answer forum.
Could be the cable. Different cables fit in differently. I personally use my kindle fire hd cable cuz it clicks in snugly with my htc charger.

I broke my nook tablet's cable accidentally.
Can anyone tell me what type of usb it is? It's not the usual micro usb type all the android cellphones have.
I'm from mumbai. Please tell me where i can get nook tablet's original usb cable or replica .

It actually is microUSB. I lost my OEM cable (which is slightly different, i think they added a couple pins to enable fast charging) but I use a motorola cable and it works fine for charging. it just takes a ridiculously long time and it doesnt charge while you're using it. unless you have a B&N store around you (which i'm going to assume you don't) you can't really get a new cable. maybe online but i wouldn't do it, chinese cables are cheap, bad, and potentially dangerous

yeah the B&N store or its products are not available here in local markets or online stores.
I am gonna try charge it on the regular micro usb cable. thanks for your suggestions.
@skepticmisfit
hi, it worked well. I switched the tablet off, put it plugged in all night to my laptop, and by morning at 9 it was fully charged.
Thanks for your suggestion. :good::good::fingers-crossed:

Yes the B&N cables are special, the pins are longer and more of them to tell the nook to fast charge. But as you found out, any micro USB cable can work, just slow slow charge it. And you can't use the device and charge at the same time as you will be using more energy than is being supplied. Oh another help is to turn off wifi when charging from USB, having that on will have the device charge slower as the the radio will be accessed occasionally.
I did find this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FMMPDT4/ref=twister_B00FMMOSYU the connector looks longer than standard USB so perhaps it would work. I can't say for certain of course. I also saw used Nook Tablet power adapater/cable sets on amazon as well (original OEM). And a final suggestion would be to get one from ebay. I have seen a few there as well.
I am surprised B&N won't ship the cable at all. Seems like they would want to sell/move them. I was looking at them the other day and you can see how the V2 is from the photo. The connector on the nook side is not long and easy to snap off/apply stress to like the original. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/nook-color-new-cable/27359237?ean=9780594459453
If anyone ever gets the KS cable, please post so we know it works for sure. It looks like it will, and I may even contact them to see. I think the biggest problem with the original nook color/tablet cables was the nook connector was too long/straight and easy for people to break (that and the connector wasn't reinforced like it should have been).
@skepticmisfit
I see some sellers from china who can ship the cable to my local address. I'll see if I can get a good one.
Also, keeping the cable connected to the laptop's USB 3.0 port is useful. :good::good::good:

No. It seems i don't need a nook's stupid cable at all. The tablet gets charged on usb 2.0 port too. I am using the CM11 nightilies ROM and gapps minimal, that is efficient in terms of battery usage.

Does it fast charge? I thought the NT would only fast charge if you use the B&N cable? Or is the fast charging lock to their cable only work with the stock ROM?
Hi,
I have lost my nook charger, please help. Where I can find & which shop.

You don't really need a replacement Nook charger, any 5V 2A USB wall-charger plug and a regular micro-USB cable would do although it would take a bit longer to charge.
While Digi is right, there are official Nook cables and chargers (refurbished) on ebay at the moment. You can still get the cables from Barnes and Noble but I don't know if they will ship to India or not. I would try searching for "nook tablet" on ebay.
Also if you are going the generic charger/cable route, be sure to have the screen and wifi off while charging. If you have the screen on, it will discharge faster than you can charge it.
One final note, even if you are going to get a official charger (which I would recommend as it is so much faster) it would be wise to plug it in to a generic cable/charger combo for now. It is NEVER good to leave the Nook laying around with a dead battery. It will kill the battery in short order. And it is harder to get a Nook Tablet going again with a generic charger if the battery gets too low (shuts down on you).
hi guys
when i plug in the charging cable to my s9+, the cable can go a bit up and down inside the port
is it the same on your devices? is this normal? if yes, how much movement is considered acceptable? my phone is charging normally and the movement doesn't seem to affect it in any way
i mean, it cannot fit super-tight and not move at all, right?
there isn't any dirt/lint inside the port since the phone is only one month old
any reply is appreciated!
Same here. But sometimes the phone would not detect the cable. However, I'm using cheap Chinese cables. Worst case scenario, at least we have wireless charging

why aren't you using the cable that came with the phone? did it break or something? is it working normally when you use the original cable?
how much of a force is needed to make the usb port wiggle when you drop it while plugged in?
