Hi.
I know the android memory management is quite good, but is there an option for how many tasks are kept in the background before killed even if there is enough RAM?
Is this possible by not using the setting in the developer options but some init.rc tweak?
Thanks in Advance
I'm using Greenify it's hibernates all user apps when your screen goes off

Setting background process to 4 is more effective and better than using Greenify... You don't have to sacrifice 3mb ram and greenify apps...
Is there a way to set the max. to 4 using a script?
When the tablet is rebootet the function is reset to android default number of background processes.

Hi all.
I am using watchdog task manager and according to this program the max free memory I have are 5mb (15mb are used by this appl). I use just 3 desktop with ADW launcher and I have not installed more than 4 o 5 applications. Is there a better program to see how much free memory I have and what program is consuming it? is it normal the low free memory in x10 mini?
Second, after rooting and delete some standard applications I notice that phone takes a lot time to turn on. Is there any boot log to look for errors or problems?
And finally, as I said I am using ADW Launcher, but every time I turn off and on the phone, watchdog lists the default SE Launcher running iddle in background, I kill it but its start again when I turn on the phone. Is it normal? can i delete the default launcher safely?
In summary I think i need a better task manager
PS: sorry my english.
Still looking for a decent task manager. Everytime i use the task manager widget (the default one) it feels like it doesn't do ****.
And it's pretty annoying to press the 'recent opened applications' button and manually remove everything :/
Any suggestions? there are tons in the market...
autokiller memory optimizer is the best

Do you NEED to manage your tasks?

no need for it but try system tuner
If your rooted then autokiller is great (but not needed on devices with 1 gb of ram) it adjusts your ram settings. If your looking for a true task killer they are not needed and cause more harm than good, make sure not to set it to auto kill, only kill apps manually and only if you know they are a problem, if so they should also be uninstalled. If you have it set to auto kill, or you manually kill all apps it will eat up more battery and slow down your device because its working to restore the apps into memory (apps in memory are not using resources or negatively effecting the device unless your down to under 100 MB which should happen mainly on devices with 512 MB or less ram, and occasionally on devices with 768 mb)
Hi,
I'm using application called SetCPU on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001
When I start it and press the home button to leave it running in background, it shows in Task Manager as active application, but sometimes it will shut itself down after few hours.
Is there a way to set applications to run always in background?
SetCPU doesn't need to constantly run unless you're using profiles, and in that case it may be triggered to run by the events you've set profiles for. If you're not using profiles, don't worry about it. The settings will stick regardless of the app's state.
If you're using profiles or just want certain apps to stay in memory, use the V6 Supercharger script with Script Manager - do a search for the thread and directions on setup. With the script you can lower the oom value of certain apps, which the script calls "bulletproofing". The script is really handy for other things as well, give it a shot.
There are apps that will lower the oom value, but I believe this is only temporary. Those apps may have improved though, so if you want to check them out first since they're probably easier to understand. If they fail to reach your expectations, try the script.
root
do you have root access? And second what plainjain said. I would add as well that in Android 2.3 even if the app didn't show in recent apps it didn't mean it wasn't lurking in the background somewhere.
Don't set that baby too high. After a fracked rom flash an Inspire 4g of mine gave me a third degree burn when I rolled over on it in my sleep.
I recently learned about how I can tweak the available memory using a minfree manager, so I downloaded one, set the values, tapped on apply, it requested root, then said OK. Now, I can't seem to notice any changes in the available memory, because no processes are shut down, they stay in ram as usual. Even if the free memory goes below my specified empty app minimum, android just sits on its ass and does nothing. Why is that?
Another thing: Can I somehow assign permanent oom values to processes? There are some apps that allow me to set them, but after a while they just revert back to default.
Thank youuu!

Hi.
I need an app that kills all apps upon lock screen to save battery power so I don't have to do so manually.
Can any one advise a good app?

hi,
take a look at "fast reboot" app market .?there is a free version ,dont know if it has settings option ?( actually, the pro version has settings , to be correct )
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.fastreboot&hl=en
Install, open fast reboot setting ( small gears in left bottom corner of app )Select , 2 nd option "Auto reboot options " and tick your option's ...on unlock and you can set on lock also .
If you know this app, then you will know it does not really reboot but closes (kill ) and opens up app ,excellent app .
Been using it for years (you will see market figures thats it very popular )
good luck
The free version have no settings and I have to click the fast boot icon for it to close apps.
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else have any good apps that can automatically kill apps when I turn screen off?

most likely you will remove that application, bcoz neither it will save your battery and may it drain more battery than saving by closing app.
If your application remain in BG, it will just take some RAM not juice, and everytime single application try to kill appliction in BG with screen off will drain more juice.
there is also in built option for this if still you want it, go to setting - development option - limit background process, you can set your desired level.
You can use ZDBox, its free and have so many utilities, the task killer can kill all non marked running tasks when lockscreen comes. Check it out, i love this app.
