Does the touchwiz text message app have actionable notifications? Whenever I get a text and expand the notification, there is no option to reply or mark it as read.
Is there another sms app that has actionable notifications?

I have always used third party apps to handle SMS but really like the SMS app built in enough to stick with it.
It is annoying though when I can definitely read the msg in notification but have no way of dismissing it and marking read unless I open the msg and back out.

You may want to try out Textra in the play store. When you receive a text, you can click it in the notification panel and a pop up appears, you can respond or, click "done" and it will be mark as read.
If you have ever run bitesms on a jailbroken iphone, the same devs make Textra.

So I've searched the forum for any similar threads, and I've failed to come across the answer.
I've been wondering if it is possible to change what specific apps proc a specific notification icon on the lock screen.
For instance, the stock Messaging app, when you get a text, will place a puzzle piece on your screen, prompting you to fit the puzzle in the piece to go to it. However, if you use an alternative, like say, ChompSMS or Handcent, you don't get the notifications without having to keep the Stock app's notifications on.
There is also a puzzle piece for missed calls, etc.
I'm not sure if there is on for the stock email app, but there is not one for the Gmail one.
Anyhow, the bottom point is: Is there a way to change the current settings to something like making ChompSMS the normal SMS notification, add one for Gmail, etc?
If this is an obvious answer, please simply provide a simple answer and refrain from snide remarks, I'd appreciate it. Thank you. Cheers!

...?
Bump...? No one can comment or has an answer to this? :/
Sorry if I'm just being a nuisance.
I wish I had an answer for this as well...i would love for google voice to prompt a notification on the lock screen, but I too have not been able to find any answers to this.

How to i stop my phone from repeating vocally each message I receive, using obsidian 4.2 with launcher pro. Thanks
I assume you are refering to text.messaging...
Are you using a third party messaging app and getting doubke notifications? If so go into the stock messaging app and disable notifications. Your post is kind of vague, but this may solve your problem.
EDIT: just re-read your post. If it its the volume you are concerned with just turn the notification volume down.

I did mean text message and do not want people to hear my text messages. I would like to disable this function. The function being when I get a text message it tells the world vocally what the contents of the text message is. thanks
Does anyone know where there's a way to add "Mark SMS as Read" in the notification pulldown and/or the actual sms app? i dont like the "clear" button in the notification pulldown, and hate having to enter the sms just to mark it as read when the sms can be read by viewing it cause sometimes some of my sms' come back with a reply of "ok" or "yeah thats cool"
i dont want to use a 3rd party app so an AOSP or TW SMS/MMS would be cool. maybe someone can incorporate it into anyone of those. thanks

I saw this app drop on the Market tonight. Basically, it will start up your phone's screen if when you receive a notification. Thought some others might enjoy it.

Doesn't TouchWiz SMS do that already?
Handcent permits this functionality, with or without a pop-up that displays the message and a reply box.
I think this is also meant for notifications that aren't text messages...
Using the stock message app.
When i see i have a new text notification and go into text messages it doesnt take me to the top level showing all texts... or even the newest texts. It takes me into whatever was the last text i replied to.
anyway to change this setting?
I've searched and searched but I've found nothing.

I've searched and searched but I've found nothing.
Click to collapse
When you see the preview on your lockscreen, click the preview, then swipe on the transparent/white box that appears. This will take you to the new message.
Also, at least from my experience, when I click on the message notification in the pull-down it takes me to that message.
