My 101G9 Turbo wont charge.
I think the wiring from the micro usb must have come loose as the whole socket feels wobbly.
I purchased the tablet in november, from a retailer that is not trading anymore, so i cannot get a reprint receipt from them to show proof of purchase.
Am tempted to open it up to check the wiring, anyone had any success with this kind of procedure?
Don't bother opening it, I can assure you that the usb port is buggered.
I have just sent 2 of these devices back to Archos under warranty.
The usb port seems to be a common problem, my port actually broke off inside my charger lead

Trying to find out if there is such a thing as going from extmicro usb that the evo and flyer have to a usb type A (or any other normal usb).
Need a right angle to plug into tablet for car install and found that I can fit a microb angled cable into the tablet, but now need to take the car charges extusb and get an adapter to hook it all together.
You can just buy a regular micro USB extended cable. It fits in the flyer/view charge port.
Proprietary cable is the one on the right. Regular micro USB on left.
I am installing the tablet in dash of a car.
I have the oem car charger because its only one with right voltage. But I need a angled usb for clearance issues. So im trying to figure a way to go from the charger EXTMICRO usb to the angled usb.
Searched around and have come up completely empty.
I'm working on the same project and found this thread searching (again) for more info on extusb. The solution I came up with for getting enough clearance to use the port requires disassembly and if you plan on keeping the warranty, it's probably not a good option for you.
Anyway, my solution was to make some small right-angle brackets for the pcb that contains the extusb port. It requires material for the angle brackets and two small screws with nuts. See attached for a better idea.
I actually got the tablet installed and fairly well, but have since removed it to come up with better designs for charging, access to the power button (and possibly volume buttons) for recovery actions, turning the screen on/off with ignition, and potentially microphone relocation.
You may want to check out http://www.dealextreme.com/ for right-angle and other adapters if you don't want to open up the tablet.
PS: Protect that screen. The plastic is very soft and will easily scratch.
I don't follow.
I thought the HTC car charger was a plug with a USB port in it just like all the others. I thought this might help, but I probably have no idea what you're really looking for

If you *need* to use the 12pin micro usb that the view has (which from my understanding was only there for the docking station utility), then you might be out of luck unless you can build something yourself.
Im looking for a cable like you linked to, but then I need a way to connect the flyers car charger special usb tip into it. Only way I can think of is to carefully grind the corners so that it will fit into a micro B female connection.
But the chargers are not cheap and if I F*** it up Im out $30
On a kia soul forum where others are planning on doing the same install with the flyer, one guy has come accross a company that makes custom cables. He said that if We send the car charger to them they will replace the usb tip with a micro B 90 degree angle for $25.
So A person is sending the charger to them to have it done and is going to let us know how it comes out.
jacobbones, can you provide a link to the kia soul flyer thread?
Yes, here it is.

Talk about the custom job is near the end of the posts
opening up the car charger and replacing the cable is incredibly simple. I have done it so many times, I can probably do it blindfolded. I actually had to go and replace the OEM chargers cable with the USB cable that it came with because my damn dog chewed threw the charger cable. Didn't come back very pretty, but it works, that charger has got the be the best charger built I have ever seen, incredibly difficult to open, but I'm sure the car charger is a lot easier to open, you just need a soldering gun and it should be easy.

sorry for another RMA thread but just want some opinions on this. I sent my prime in for 3 issues.
1. HDMI out not working
2. Micro SD card not locking in
3. Battery drain around 6-10% while idle/not in use (wi-fi off)
Micro SD was fixed. Getting grief over the battery/cpu issue, (seems like companion core isn't kicking in) techs say its fine. And here's where I could use some help. They are claiming CID (customer induced damage) for the HDMI port. I connected the HDMI cable like I have countless other devices and it never worker for me out of the box. Here's a picture of what they say was caused by me pushing the cable in too hard. Ill admit it looks like the pins are bent just don't know how I could have done this with the normal action of connecting a cord.
btw they want $290 dollars for a new motherboard and labor
Thoughts?
dont pay
While I believe some damages should be covered by the customer. - The area that is in the picture - I doubt you did. Those pins look like someone just jammed the cable in any which way they could multiple times.
I would e-mail / call them back and respectfully debate with them that, in this case is not CID.
I've worked in the retail repair field for a while, and again I doubt you bent those pins, more than likely, your unit was an Out of Box Failure with that defect. Or while it was being shipped to you - it occurred.
thank you for the reply. Is there any way I can logically/reasonably defend my position? Instead of just my word against theirs. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the male end of the hdmi contact all of those pins? It looks like only 4 of 7 are bent. Wouldn't all of them be bent if it was from pushing the connector too hard?
Alright, so not too long ago i tripped on my USB cord while my phone was charging and it took out the little plastic piece inside the micro usb port that holds all the wires in place. I bent them back into place, and can still charge my phone, but sometimes it hard resets when being plugged in/ getting unplugged.
I took it to the sprint store, they said physical damage and I would have to submit a claim with a 150 deductable. Well, i know a micro usb port doesnt cost 150 so i orderd "HTC micro USB" jacks off of ebay with the intent of replacing it myself. unfortunately the ones i got were not the same; wrong size and shape, etc...
my question is, does anyone know where i can get the right usb jack, is it even available or do i have to bite the bullet and pay the 150? or maybe someone has an idea i havent thought of yet?
Just bite the bullet and pay the $150. You know it will be done right (you get a replacement phone) and it will still be under warranty. You damage it replacing it yourself, you might not be able to file a claim later.
Have you already looked at this website?

I would not recommend attempting to replace the USB jack unless you are skilled with a soldering iron. The surface mount components are not for the faint of heart. If you don't know what you are doing, you risk damaging the phone evern more.
Hi xda.
I cant charge my phone. I made tests with 3 original micro usb cable, and got nothing(wall and usb).
I got no led, no sounds when i plug it.
So, I tried with a universal charger for batteries, and it works. So i guess my battery is fine.
Apparently my problem is the micro usb port. I do not have warranty.
Despite having no experience with maintenance, I found a video on youtube and did not seem very difficult to replace. So i searched and found on ebay a new micro usb port, for a very low price.
What you guys suggest?
Lead to assistance and wait 15 days or more, and spend more money...
Or buy at ebay and try to change myself?
Theres a way to find if my problem is really on my micro usb port?
This could be another problem?
Thanks.
sorry for my bad english.

first try to clean usb port for dirt if it does not work
disassemble your phone as shown in the video. check usb connections etc. if none solves try to find the right part on ebay and replace it.
or if you say i cant do that simple give it to samsung service and get it repaired with money
I'm quite disappointed, I only got this Tablet on Friday and realise that it will no longer charge unless I hold the cable down when it is plugged into it (computer also won't recognise it until I hold the cable down). The charging port is extremely loose. I have contacted the sellers so will wait to see what they have to say :crying:
Has anyone else experienced issues with the micro USB port?

In my case i've found that the microusb is not that strong but i don't have that problem you mention. I recommend you to return the tablet a get a new one.

I haven't experienced any problems with charging my XTZ yet, but i have noticed that since i bought it the Micro USB cable seems to move around a lot (a lot of slack) while in the charging port.
On other devices micro usb port has got trapezoid like shape but in sony Z products(phone and tablet) port is rectangular which in my opinion is causing loosness of the cable. I have some slack there as well but it is not causing any problems. I guess it is a design problem and only thing we can do, is to be careful and do not wiggle it too much

I tried an HTC charging cable in my XTZ the other day and i had to at least mention it on here, but it seems to have a lot less wiggle room than the sony charger cable does :/
