Same issue, doesn't work wifi :/
Maybe using GPS for data ?
(Sorry, i've nothing to do today and i'm tired )
It wants data to be enabled (specifically background data.) If you're by a wifi connection just use DroidWall and block off everything that isn't wifi using the blacklist option (or just whitelist wifi)
Also, as far as I know, GPS doesn't work like that.

Hi there! I have a tablet with a 3g dongle and i want to turn it into a hotspot for my phone. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a built in hotspot function. Are there any apps that can turn it into a mobile hotspot?

Issue for certain apps connecting to wifi in nexus 5

Hi,
I'm facing one particular issue. I had used noroot firewall in my nexus 5 unrooted device to limit data access. However, recently, google applications like gmail, youtube, play store etc was not able to access my wifi (showing connection failed) whereas it can access data connection. However, using Chrome i can access wifi connection successfully, so I believe its not a hardware issue. Same is the case with google now, it doesn't work using wifi, but works in mobile data. I believe its because of some setting change caused by noroot firewall. Please help.

Using a great firewall requires root permissions imo so I suggest you to root and use AFWall+.

Wifi tether router in the app store... 2.50
Didn't this fellow ask about this being unrooted? Long story short, not without rooting and unrooting at the least and then you have to deal with changing the network name each time. Best choice is to stay rooted And use Wi-Fi tether router.
