[Q] Charging paused, Battery temperature is too low. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hi
today my phone (galaxy I777) got wet in a stupid way (don't ask how) and the water wasn't clean it had some salt and some other stuff, I got it dry and it works very good but when i want to charge it it says " Charging paused. Battery temperature is too low" like -20
any idea what's the cuse?

Water damage in the charging circuitry?
Or maybe hidden moisture that isn't removed?

Water can play havoc with electronics, especially micro-electronics. Even more so if there is a corrosive substance present such as you mentioned. Depending on the circumstances, you may be lucky that you have a working phone, even though it won't charge the battery.
There could be hidden water even though you took the phone apart and cleaned it. You should completely dessicate the phone. Some people put the phone in a bowl of rice for a few days, but I don't know how effective that is. If you use heat, it must be very gentle.
If there is damage to the circuitry, there is nothing you can do except maybe send it to Samsung for repair.

go to sony service center, tell them like that.
if properly sealed and water got in, then sony have defect.
or try emailing Sonymobile

Dude, without doing any research on the phone and being completely ignorant but im gonna go ahead and take a wild guess. THIS PHONE CANNOT BE TAKEN SWIMMING, it might be waterproof/splashproof like in a shower but when you go in a pool and swim its a lot more pressure, the phone cant take that. Maybe im wrong but even some waterproof watches i know cant be taken swimming

Agreed ! 1m for 30 mins is what its rated/tested 1m is about waist height roughly any more than that its not reliable to be waterproof so even a drop to the bottom of the pool wouldnt be safe , open the moistureprotection covers throw it in a jar of rice leave it overnight hopefully that will draw any moisture out , the indicator light is just telling you your battery is full now

its very much dry...... i just dont know y it wont turn on
Because you took it swimming! rofl
you said you opened it up and dried it did you disassemble completely it or just remove the back cover? chances are that once the water got in and with the battery constantly connected you could have something short out on your mobo . If you cant disassemble it you how do you know its dry, trying the rice overnight is worth a shot not guaranteed as a fix but it should draw out any moisture , flashing software wont fix a hardware problem caused by water damage

i disassembled it same time and wiped it down the board with alcohol then sprayed it with a can of compressed air to get rid or the salt water then put it directly under a light bulb for half an hour so i am pretty sure it should be clean and dry.

i know that its more likely that it would be an hardware problem but i am just wondering if there is a possibility that the water might have damage the firmware...
no it shouldnt , im sorry to say your phone is probably useless now unless its something youve done while disassembling like broke a flex cable etc unless sony replaces it or you find the faulty component your stuffed!

[Q] Camera LED always on (!)

Hi there,
I've got a problem with the camera flash LED for a few days : it is always on !
Even when I power down the phone, the LED is glowing with low intensity.
Only when I remove the battery is the LED off... And as soon as I put the battery in place the LED is on again.
I'm afraid this will kill my autonmy
Does anyone has already had this behavior ?
Any ideas on what could cause this ?
The phone is a i9100G with samsung ICS 4.0.2 ...
thanks for any response
oDD

I turned the phone on/off
Took the battery off
Installed a couple of software which claimed to manage the camera flash
I hard reset the phone
Flashed 4.0.4 rom instead of 2.3.6 it originally had
I wouldn't post here if I had not made extensive search beforehand.
It doesn't look like a software problem, I read somewhere that it might have happened because of humidity...
No luck with this issue.
It must be hardware related since even when the phone is turned off, the LED shines as soon as you put battery in place.
Humidity might be a cause, or a very minor hardware defect that causes some power to leak onto the wrong circuit, since LEDs consume very little power.
Maybe we should try to drown our phone inside a sack of salt or rice to dry it out ?

Hmm.. Yeah sack of rice would be a good idea to get the phone completely dry, but salt no.. Because it increases conductivity with water and people are again prone to get into humid wet situations and increased conductivity within phone circuitry = phone going KABOOM, well that's an exaggeration anyway a lot more salt will remain in your phone than rice.. duh! SO using salt can be a lil damaging(or sometimes a lot-what if you dropped your salt dried phone in a puddle or something... :-\ yeah you can be sure about having fried motherboard for breakfast).
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda app-developers app
Yep. Humidity might have damaged something & it's causing a short or similar.
Salt ??!! Do a Google Images search for 'salt corroded metal' & you'll understand why that's not a good idea
Rice, for a week. And no using the phone at all during that time. Not even to boot it for a minute. Take the battery out, put it in, bury it & leave it.

[Q] Galaxy S II (GSM) won't turn on or charge

Hello there,
My friend gave me his dead SII to me today to fix, so here's the story:
He accidently took his phone in to a steam bath. Apparently the phone worked for 3 days after that without a problem, but finally stopped turning on. He tried to charge the phone, but he got a message about the phone overheating. He sent it in to a local phone repair company to get it fixed, but they would only replace the battery, which failed.
There are no evident signs of water damage on the device or logic board.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
the mtherboard is toasted from water damage and not being dryed out before using.
Your friend most likely fried the board as evidenced by overheating without checking for water damage from the steam.
The water damage was probable dried by the overheating but not before the damage was done.
You will need a new board.
Thanks for the reply

I don't think I'll do that, but I'm in a very remote country here (Sultanate of Oman) and most parts are not easily available. It seems my only option is to clean the logic board more or find a used S II with a smashed/not-working display.
I wrote about this here..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34891900&postcount=19
Basically, the same problem as you mate - where can I buy a board from?
BTW - when you strip the phone, connect the battery to the piece of board you have in your hand (the main board only) and you will notice something getting extremely hot (where the USB ribbon would get plugged)
Does it get warm around the camera when it's charging?

Yeah, same, board gets hot in the same place.
I can get stuff shipped in from the UK, but noone is selling a board on eBay... the only thing I can do is get a smashed S II
Have you tried a jig? I heard that if it gets hot around the camera when charging, then it bay be able to use a jig.

My camera area is fine - but you're in luck, as you can buy that piece from eBay.
Mine gets extremely extremely extremely hot with just the battery - not even charging.
I read about reflow using hot air gun. Maybe this may work to solder back the joints which may be corroded - not enough knowledge I'm afraid.
Mine does the same thing, it gets but it doesn't get hot hot. Just warm enough to notice it.
I think it means that it's in a boot loop (explaining the hot battery usage) without the screen working.

A thought...
Could it just be bricked, and I'm on a wild goose chase? I was reading about a HTC HD2 that got hard bricked and needed to be put on charge for 4 hours? I don't know. It seems unlikely.

S3 went swimming, now I have imei null/null and baseband unknown, please help!

Hi guys.
My s3 fell on the water, I dry it but now any sim card is not recognized and the imei shows as null/null and the baseband is unknown. I cannot send it to warranty since it fell on water. Is there anything I can do?
I read that flashing the perseu kernel could help, is that true?
Thanks in advance for your help
first try to factory reset the phone . if you want to flash something try flashing a stock rom. I don't know if perseus kernel can help . good luck
If the only trigger for this event is water exposure, flashing nothing will help. If baseband and imei showed null only after this event, well that's that.
The only way of getting a phone operational after swimming (which is not always successful...
1) remove battery immediately. Do NOT power on
2) submerge immediately in a bag of uncooked rice (48-72hr minimum)
Any powering up before the end of the 48-72 hours will render this "trick" useless. Any heat will too.
Rice absorbs moisture. Heat evaporates water. Rice draws it out. Steam spreads it. Also, powering up causes heat.
Water is very corrosive so once components are identified as not working, chances are, they'll never work again. Even the rice trick, you need to be extremely lucky for it to work

I've read that the guys who unlock phones and have proper "box" to do it can also repair the imei and base band problem. Just like samsung, but way cheaper. Is this true?

Yes, true when the issue is caused by a software fault. Your issue is a hardware fault caused by water. No amount of boxes can fix a software issue that results from hardware failure. The software itself in your case is fine, so there is nothing for them to do with this box.

[Q] magnet may have damaged phone?

Not sure if this is the right forum or page for this thread but here goes. I have an Android phone that has worked flawlessly for me. A couple of weekends ago I went out to eat with some friends and forgot my phone at home. When I got home I found my phone sitting on top of my shop vac where I left it. I noticed that the battery indicator showed the phone almost dead which was odd. I put it on the charger over night as I always do. The next day I noticed the phone losing about 10% battery every hour. I assume the magnet in the motor on the shop vac has done something to my phone. I tried 2 other batteries and got the same result. I reset the phone and also forced a reflash and still the same problem. Is there anything I can do to fix this??????
Just to be clear, the phone can usually go 2 days before it would go totally dead and literally changed that day.
anyone? Is there a way to reverse the damage or repair?

by the way this can be occurs due to faulty battery connect pin in mobile(actually i don't know what its called)
i think its hardware issue
