As the title says. Every time I talk on the phone people are telling me I sound really far away, this has happened since I've had the phone. I'm not sure if its software related as I rooted n installed a rom as soon as it was delivered. My phone is 3 months old n I've flashed ROMs quite a few times n none of them make a difference.
I'm 100% its not the mic itself as its fine in speaker mode.
Any ideas?

No one?
Someone must have some kind of advice. I've noticed this is a common problem but not seen anything helpful about it on hox+

My phone often mutes itself during a call. It has done this on pretty much every rom I have tried. Does anyone else have this problem?
This is usually gingerbread experimental ROM issue, nexus one suffered a lot from it. I dont have this issue on my G2 but for nexus one or any other phone with such issue, there is an app called dewonkificator. It fixed it.
If u wanna try, send me your e mail address I'll send u the apk

The phone flips out when it mutes to. You try to turn the screen on so you can unmute and the phone just seizures. screen on/off/on/off.
What ROM r u using?

What? Bro try Cyanogen mod ROMs, they r the most reliable.
If u don't wanna then use cyanogen mod then install dewonkificator.

cyanogen doesn't look great on the fascinate.
I'm using it, cyanogen mod 7 gingerbread 2. 3. 3. And its great, has everything. Cyanogen mod settings are pretty much a lot. So far its the best n most stable ROM maker available. Thus I'm having no such issue.
Anyway if u don't like it then try the software I suggested, may be it'll fix the issue on your ROMs which I'm hearing for the first time. I only know villain ROMs, cyanogen, king o rama n eVil .

want to send me that apk? I got a few off google, but they are bad packages.
Well my friend sent me the dewonkificator through gmail. I downloaded the 12kb apk n it worked fine.

Don'tknow if its the same issue but the same thing happens to my girl and my sister. After watching I found that they try holding the phone with their shoulder which moves it away from the sensor enough to kick the screen on then their chin hits the mute button. I experimented and if I do the same it happens to me too. As long as they hold the phone correctly it never happens.
Glad I am not the only one. IT generally happens when I am shouldering the phone.
I tried using bluetooth headsets, but my wife keeps cleaning and hiding them.
I've had my Rezound since November and now I'm starting to have issues with whining audio. Anybody else experience it sometime after buying the phone?

Yep, happened to me, it came and went at first and then stayed there all the time. Took the phone to verizon and they replaced it.
That's the beats by dre working its magic. People that listen to hip hop don't hear the hissing and other noises because their eardrums are blown out from all the years of listening to crappy music. My phone does the same thing though. The whole beats thing is a real turn off from the HTC brand and I hope they do away with it.
It's a common problem as far as I can tell. Funny that I stumbled across this thread because the beats things was bothering me today. Can we please stop giving money to rappers and their overpriced bs products.

Same here. Got a replacement and the new phone does not have this problem.

Mine only does this when playing music in the car using the stereo Jack and charging at the same time. Alternator noise.
I've heard about the charging in cars causing problems. Supposedly if you try different chargers or just remove the charger it'll work just fine.
Seems like it only happens with the screen on for me. I can live with it a long as it does not get worse

It's gotten worse for me. I've tried different headphones and it only appears to be the "left" side. Even with the screen turned off it still has the same sound. I also tried turning all the radios off and it does not change. I'll downgrade back to stock Gingerbread (currently running one of the ICS leaks) and if the problem is still there then it's time to take it to VZW. At least it should be covered under warranty,
Happens to me too. But if I wiggle the cord it will go away. At least for now. No telling if that trick will continue to work in the future, but it works for me now.

I have this issue. I've contacted HTC twice already. The most recently last week. Same response, "we have an update coming soon, that will solve the issue" . For those of us running the latest radio/ICS know that their update isn't going to solve the problem. This issue is annoying me more and more lately, it's getting bad. I'm hesitant to return my phone for a warranty just cause I don't want a refurbished, I paid a lot of money for this phone... So, I have to deal with this? I haven't tried deleting beats with root explorer. Maybe I'll try that next.

Is anyone else getting a really annoying rattle or buzz in the earpiece when the call volume is turned up above 60% or so? I have no sound manager apps installed or anything of the like. I have had the phone for one week as of today.
Yes, same thing here. ATT OX+. Un-Un rooted. That and ppl say the voice quality sucks compared to my 2yr old EVO. Starting to wonder....

Mine is going from fine to bad and back and forth. No rhyme or reason.
Update on the earpiece. I was just about to swap it out but then during the call it stopped buzzing and became clear. It did this when I took it away from my face and did something onscreen during the call. If it was a hardware issue, it would do it every call and during the whole call in my opinion. I'll leave it as is no app installs etc for 24 hours and see if it changes back.

All volumes are great other than incall volume. I tried xloud and it helped a tad but its still pretty low. Is this something that can be tweaked with a custom kernel? Big difference coming from my note 2.
Mines had very low sound, from the speaker on top,, it turned out ,it was not working like the lower one,, took it back, they me a new one

So the new one is much better then?
i don't think its a defective device as every htc ive ever owned had this issue. i cant take mine back anyways as i unlocked the bootloader. people in the international one forums are reporting it to, its not super low, but low enough while in a crowded room or whatever.
I have horrid hearing, but I could hear perfectly fine on the Nokia lumia I had before this phone..
If I'm around any background noise I can't hear anything.. has anyone else had this issue?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Omg yes!! I've tried everything to fix this. I've even gone to AT&T to get a replacement, which temporarily resolved the issue. I'm about to make another trip back, who knows might even get a free upgrade Depends on how lucky I am lol

Sadly I experience the same thing, I could've sworn I saw a tip from HTC talking about noise cancellation somewhere in the accessibility menu. Darn I can't find it at the moment.
Anyway what Solves the issue for me is using headphones/earphones, Since most of the time when I am somewhere noisy( busy street or so) I am listening to music so when a phone comes in i just continue using my earphones or it which is quite good.
