Look where it backs up to, then copy it to the external sd card using a file manager

Ok I backed it up and saved it as Chad. Here's a screen shot of where it says it goes.

Don't need computer. Just copy the backup to external sd and put it back when you reinstall nova prime

So I need to download a file manager from the play store right now and find that backup somehow, move it to external sd card. Then when I factory reset I download Nova launcher and when I hit restore my backup will be there?
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy S4

Use es file manager from the play store. Because I know that suits what you need
Then copy the backup to external sd using especially file manager
When you wrote and are ready to restore, put the files back how that are now, install nova prior and then restore from inside nova

Good luck! Reminder: backing up nova launcher will only keep the layout, apps and widgets wont be copied. But you will get icons for them even if they arent installed so you remember where they go. Use Titanium backup or Helium to backup apps/data c:
If my posts helped dont forget to click Thanks on them!

Oh wow I didn't know that all of the apps wouldn't be in their folders lol. I might just not back up then idk. You did help I appreciate it man.

Tibu from my rooted infuse

Ok gotta question for all ya geniuses here...
Can I back up apps and data from my rooted samsung infuse through tibu and then take sd card out and stick in prime and restore through tibu to mirror what I have on the ole 4g?
Sorry if this makes no sense but seems logical to me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Yes you can but this is what I had to do to get it to work. I had to install tibu and then copy all the files and drop them in the newly created tibu folder that was installed after the app was installed. I haven't had any problems installing the ones that I have installed.

Ok great. Will try this when I get home. Maybe just plug both into my laptop simultaneously and transfer through win exp. No need to remove sd cards. Lol. Makes sense.

App to restore Texts from Evo to another phone?

Hey I have SMS backups from the LTEvo and want to get them onto my S3. All of the SMS restore apps I'm finding in the play store keep telling me the backups aren't found because I'm guessing they aren't compatible. Is there either a way to change the file type to make these apps work or is there another app that read this? Thanks.

Its telling me no backups were found in the specified location when I know 2 are on that folder. So I'm assuming these types of backups that are used in the stock Evo messaging app aren't compatible with MyBackup pro.

Just use an SMS backup app from the play store. Download the same app on the S3, locate the backup file, profit...I did it for my wife from her Epic 4G to her S3.

If you had someone with an eltevo it could be done easily. Where are you? I would load the backup on mine and convert it to a go SMS or some apk that would allow you to bring them over.

Transferring all data from S3 to S4

Is there an easy way to do this? I tried Kies but could not find the option to do this.
Please help.
Titanium Back Up and restore is the best way. Rooted though!

Rom tool box pro is good too to back up your stuff if needed!
shalom to you!
Thanks for the replies. But the user doesn't want to root his device.
This is not mine. Any option to transfer it without rooting?
Edit: This is not mine as I will not make the same mistake ever again!
Take that Samdung?
Phew! I actually thought you had bought a Lagdung S4!

Hey you could try to use Samsung Switch. I believe it's made for transferring data from and to Samsung devices. I think it's downloadable in Google Play.

try moborobo it's a pc program which backups messages , numbers , call , logs , apps ,data , songs , videos and no need for root
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEuYmFja3VwIl0.
This is the best way! And I am speaking from experience, works flawlessly and you can backup to external SD if you want to. Since you are not rooted, you need to use the PC app as well, after that, you can backup as if your phone was rooted.
With that Smart Switch app from Samsung you just have to download it on your S3 and new S4. Then let each others' backs touch, and everything will be transferred via wifi direct which is very fast.

Thanks guys for the recommendations. Here are my take on these:
Samsung Switch - tried this, useless as F!
Helium - could have taken that route were it not for the software I used
Sorry Glebun. Won't happen again.
As for the software I used, it's Wondershare MobileGo for Android. Did what it's supposed to do. Pretty much.
I just hate that there are multiple entries in the phone book. For example, he has a contact with multiple numbers, all of them are going to be on a separate entries. Strange.
Should've tried Helium.

cant install verizon cloud after flash

Hey, for some reason when I go to download Verizon Cloud to restore some of my data it won't let me download it, it says "this item isn't available on your carrier" even though I have a Verizon phone.
Any help would be appreciated!
Also the ROM that I installed was Tron 2.2, runs super smoothly

On Tron, and most other AOSP/AOKP ROMs, the phone no longer identifies itself as a "Verizon" phone, so Verizon specific apps don't work... Some of them you can side load and will work, others will not or will only work partially since most of them require other Verizon specific apps and services to be running on the phone and I don't know of any AOSP ROMs that have those services loaded. Check the various APK repositories and try to install, but to be honest it's only a 50/50 chance it will work.
This is the reason that we generally use Ultimate Backup (or Titanium Backup, My Backup, etc) and Nandroid images, and Google cloud based services and do not use Verizon services on custom ROMs.
Alright, fixed the issue, went into my build.prop and changed "ro.carrier" from "unkown" to "verizon" and aloud me to download it.

What intend to do with Verizon Cloud is to backup my text messages to my computer so i may print them out in a clean subsequent form. If this is the not the correct program for my needs then i need a 3rd party software...ive tried backing up to Dropbox but its messy and has computer jargon Ive tried GMAIL and yes it is legible but in chronological disarray. Does anyone know of a suitable 3rd party software like COOLMUSTER athough i dont want to pay for crap thank you very much for the help!

Samsung Smart Switch App

I downloaded this app in anticipation of moving data from my S III to my S4 when it arrives next week.
It looked like a really easy tool to use until I opened it & found that you must agree to sharing data regarding your existing apps, etc. That stopped me cold.
Other thoughts?

Don't you already do this with accepting to Play Store EULA? Same with 1/2 the free apps in it.

However I have an important question that I don't see addressed in the documentation. I have a great deal of data on my micro SD card on the S III. Since there is no SD card in the S4, how does that data get transferred?

Depending on what version of android you have(I think it's 4.2.2) you can move apps right to the SD card. Well some can't however, you can find out through Application Manager in settings. As far as contacts, if you have your contacts synced to your Google account then when the S4 comes in and you do the initial setup and log in with your Google account it will sync your contacts to the new phone.

Sorry to sound like a clutz but I don't want to screw this up.
My S4 Is running 4.2.2. However I don't have an SD card for it. I'll be using the one currently in my S III.
I'll check what data is actually residing on my current card.
I don't sync contacts with Google.

I use Helium. You do not have to be rooted to transfer data from one phone to another. It also is just as easy as backing up apps plus data then transfering the helium folder to new phone and restoring. Works with contacts and text messages too. U will need to connect to computer to enable the backup and restore if your not rooted every reboot.
---------- Post added at 10:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 PM ----------
In our case all you need to do is backup to ext SD card of old phone then put SD in new phone aka s4. Install Helium enable and restore.
