Hi, I have exactly the same problem. I sent my phone to freesamsungrepairs and they refuse to fix my device under warranty since it has been rooted. Can they really tell that it has been rooted or do they base their assumption solely on the "custom" field in Download mode? I shipped the phone without sd card or anything that would tell them the phone is rooted. Can they still tell? Can they maybe read somehow the partially wiped emmc and find traces of superuser and such?
Thak you for your help.

Galaxy S3 Boot Loop, Arrrgh

Hi all,
My GS3 (International version) is on a constant boot loop. I was browsing the internet and then it crashed into a loop, The phone was getting on my nerves abit as i was constantly having to reboot just to use it...but this time it crashed on me for good (Yes it was rooted on firmware 4.1.1)
I managed to get into CWM and wipe all data, then get into Download mode and flash a stock rom via ODIN.
All seemed to be going well, ODIN said PASSED and the phone rebooted.
Then i got the little green android robot with the blue spinning box in the middle of him/her....Boots back to initial start up screen, then little green android, then intitial start up etc etc etc....Never leaves these screens.
I cannot enter recovery nor can i enter download mode. There is nothing i can do to stop this.
I have tried repeatadly taking out the battery and puttin back in but no results.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance
From a very stressed out GS3 owner
After much playing around i managed to get back into DOWNLOAD mode...Unfortunatly no matter which STOCK rom i put on i can never get past the initial loading screen where it states my Phone device name/brand etc. Someimes i get to the little android with the spinning blue square in its belly...But then it loops again.
Ive tried about 6 different fimwares now, all stock.
Ive managed to put CWN on them too and done the whole WIPE DATA/DELVIK cache...but nothing changes!
Help please
I am in a right pickle now, Any help would be really really really appreciated. Feel gutted!
Tried everything i can think of or find, but my problems are just getting worse. I can now no longer use ODIN as i get the following:

The firmware i was trying to flash is suppose to be the ORIGINAL S3 firmware.
On the DOWNLOAD MODE screen on the S3, next to product name i have nothing.. Used to say GT-I9300
Custom Binary: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
I can get into DOWNLOAD MODE but cannot access Recovery.
What to do now?
The phone is 4 months old :crying::crying::crying::crying:

This is the troublesome part..in your flashing frenzy you have somehow corrupted the partition layout...now try flashing the 3 part method..search for it..you will need to use mx.pit to repartition you flash memory..tread cautiously and do only what you understand..
Why do people use Odin??????? Still escapes me
i see a post with a bootloader a pit and a rom to repair gs III and get a phone like the first time try to flash it and see

I cant use tha app as im stuck on a boot loop, i can only access Download mode. I have a GS3 GT-I9300 International version UK. Just took it to the store i bought it at and theres nothing they can help me with other than telling me to contact samsung.
I have tried nurmerous files via ODIN, even PIT files but i get no results. ODIN just says FAIL.
When i enter DOWNLOAD mode on my GS3..prior to pressing volum up i have a small yellow triangle, but it still allows me to go on. Prior to Download mode i can only get as far as the initial boot screen.

OK what ssn is listed under the battery .
Its pointless proceeding until the model is confirmed as your symptoms are identical to flashing wrong firmware .

Possible corrupt NAND then .

I have spoken with Samsung who have sent me out a jiffy bag to send back to them with my phone and they will fix under warranty. Im at my wits end with it. So in the mean time im back my iPhone (errrgghh i hate it).
Out of interest is there anything i need to do to the phone prior to sending it back?
On the download scren (after pressing Volume Down + Home + Power) prior to pressing volume up i have a small yellow triangle on the bootom of that screen, is this normal??
When pressing Volume Up it goes into ODIN mode with the big green android robot..Text underneath says DOWNLOADING...I know this is right.

I met the similar message it it is very bad.
Most likely died MMC.
You can try to flash PIT file but it seems to me its partition is dead, however as well as all remaining partitions. Now only motherboard changeover

Hi, did you manage to get yours solved?
I have the exact same problem i was on a custom samsung 4.1.2 rom and while browsing the net it crashed was in bootloop now i cant get out, went into recovery mode and factory reseted didnt help, now i cant go back into clockwork mod at all, so i went into download mode and opened odin flashed a stock rom just keeps saying fail after nand write, tried a custom rom and same issue and fails, now when i pull the battery out and turn it back on all i get is a message saying firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again! Helppppp!
Thankss
Contact Samsung, or seller, will need to be repaired under warranty.
In all that did you even try using kies to get back to original rom?
Even if it's rooted? Thanks

[Q] Galaxy S3 crashed

Hii,
I have a problem. I cycled to the gym this morning and I was listening music on my Galaxy S3, Ii took the headphones out, put phone in my bag. 10min. later I looked at my phone and there was a strange message with something about the firmware, don't know what exactly. I couldn't do anything else than shut the phone down, now every time I try to start my phone normaly or in recovery the comes a wierd pattern of colors, most of it is white with some other pixels(look at the attached file), I don't know what it could be.. I think it's maybe something with the screen..
Hope someone can help me..

Try starting the phone in download mode (volume down+home then power). If it gives the same screen then looks like to need a repair center, you could try a USB jig but that screen pattern looks fatal to me.
If it boots to download mode then follow the guide in general, stickies on how to use Odin on your PC to flash a stock ROM.

Well I tried to flash stock rom for the galaxy s3 with odin, but I don´t work. This is what Odin says±

The PIT-File is not for every S3 the same, right? I need one for the Europe version, so the normal S3 bought in EU but can't find one.
if yours one is of 16gb model than download the GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit.zip file from the attachment, extract it an you will get GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit. For re-partitioning the Galaxy S3 download the pit file from below link and in odin select the re-partition option choosse the .pit file and also your PDA file... and start re-partitioning. hope this works for you.
Note: The above file is only for 16Gb version dont use it if its 32GB or 64GB..
Keep in mind the below things:
GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit = Galaxy S3 of 16 Gb
GT-I9300_mx_20120322.pit = Galaxy S3 of 32 Gb
GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit = Galaxy S3 of 64 Gb
Well, big thanks. It was the 16gb version, but I've tried it but it won't work...

I think my phone charges but when plug it in, the same screen appears.
You said that the product name is blank? Then sorry it's an SDS for sure. Send it to Samsung for repair as there's nothing you can do about it.

well battery charge is not a problem because i have even flashed a custom rom when my battery charge was 20%. It would be better if the complete firmware file could be found ( with .pit, .tar.md5). it would be better if you send it to Samsung..
I don't think we can do more than this...
Ok, last try please try using this pit file
be warned PIT file may damage your phone and is always a last resort .
Warranty is void .

But the warranty was already void after root and custom theme. I will try the other pitfile and give report.
But if I send my phone to Samsung what could they do? I don't think they give me a new phone..

The phone is dead like what I told you earlier. If your S3 is on download mode and you see that the product name is blank that means that the eMMC partition is dead. No amount of PIT files can revive your phone. So if you're gonna give it to Samsung just tell them that you got the SDS. If you're out of the warranty period then you'll probably pay for the repair service.
Your situation is exactly the same as this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451728

Thanks, I will visit a walk-in Samsung service center tomorrow. In any case, thank you very much for the offered help . Still things I need to do / not say to the service desk, or it is enough to say that it is an SDS?

Things not to say:
1. That you flash a PIT file.
2. You installed a custom rom.
Things to say:
1. Your device had an SDS.
2. Still SDS.
3. Yep. You got it. Still say SDS.
Kidding aside I won't guarantee that they'll buy your alibi since I've haven't visited their service centers for repairs yet (and I hope I won't... ever lol). But most of the service technicians there should know what an SDS is.
SDS is Sudden Death Syndrome if you don't know what that means.

Yes, its enough to tell SDS. you don't need to tell anything like it was rooted, custom rom was used. If it was in warranty period was not over tha nyou can claim them by just telling SDS, since there is no partition, neither the product name. So don't tell them anything about all this, you might be serviced for free.. if the warranty is over you have to pay for the repair service.
Samsung's LIMITED warranty is 24 months from dop.

[Q] Is My Phone Dead Forever?

I have a Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 running the Samsung Stock 4.1.2 ROM.
It was rooted and I tried to flash CWM Recovery using Mobile Odinbut as soon as I did that the only thing that now appears when I try to boot the phone is the initial black screen with the "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300" words.
I cannot get into Recovery mode.
I can get in to download mode but no matter what I try with Odin it sticks at setupconnection. I have used Odin to try and re flash CWM to try and get back into Recovery mode but get stuck at setupconnection.
I have used Odin to try and re flash the stock ROM but again get stuck at setupconnection.
I get this whether I try using Odin on my laptop or my desktop PC
I did wonder if this would happen if my battery charge was low so I plugged the phone in the charger to see what the battery level was when it appeared but the battery will not appear and again I see only the words "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300" on the black background.
Can anyone suggest a way out of this?
Thanks

Which version of ODIN did you use? What kind of file(s) were you trying to flash?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I'm not sure but think it was Mobile Odin 3.65 and I was trying to flash CWM touch from xda.
Additionally, I think my battery charge may now be low after many attempts to recover it but will that matter bearing in mind I'm using Odin on my PC and the phone is connected to the PC by USB cable?
One flash Philz recovery and format system data cache and sd card .
Two check your USB drivers for Odin and make sure Kies is not running .
What do you mean Odin sticks at setup connection ??
If its before flashing its drivers or try another version of Odin .

Kies is not installed on my computer and I have tried Odin versions 1.83, 1.85, 3.04, 3.06, 3.07 and 3.09.
I have also tried 'Samsung_USB_Drivers_1.5.27.0.exe' and 'SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe' and remembering to uninstall then reboot and then install.
On one occasion it got as far as (can't remember the exact words) "Get PIT Mapping" but then just stopped there.
I cannot believe I have done anything other than corrupt the CWM recovery because all I did was try to flash CWM Touch and as soon as I pressed OK the screen went black with the word "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300". Those words just stay there because since then I can't switch the phone off. I thought that if I just reflashed CWM via Odin on my computer I would be able to get back into recovery mode and just restore my backup.
Appears I am mistaken and have ruined a very new and vey expensive phone.
The only other thing I seem to recall is that before I tried the Mobile Odin flash the battery was below 50% charge but I'm not sure if that's relevant?
This is usually a wrong file flash symptom .

Do you mean I'm trying to flash something I shouldn't?
Initially I tried to flash CWM Recovery but then decided just to try and get it back the way it was by trying to flash Android 4.1.2 again.
The file I have been using is "KIES_HOME_I9300XXEMG4_I9300OXAEMG4_1314436_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5" which I believe is from Sammobile and which is, I believe again, the ROM that the Galaxy S3 comes pre-installed with. Do you think it worthwhile me trying some other ROM?
I have been doing a lot more web research and some say that the battery charge should be more than 80%. Does this matter?
Won't the battery have been charging all the while the phone was plugged into into the Computer via the USB lead?
If I buy a separate charger and charge my battery to 100% do you think the Odin reflash will work then?

Thanks

The end
Okay, I started this thread so will end it now as follows:
1 Thank you to all those who offered help/advice/suggestions.
1a Some people do not read posts properly because even though I had specifically stated that I could not get into recovery mode some people proceeded to tell me to go into recovery mode and restore my rom.
2 Whilst I have recovered the full use of my phone I can no longer root it but that's ok because at least I have a phone that is comparable to the vast majority who choose not to root.
3 I will explain how I rescued it but obviously I don't really understand what the result is other than a usable phone so please don't copy.
4 Whilst I have no doubt one could damage a motherboard, that could only be done with very specialist software that most people would not have so the advice of some that I needed a new motherboard was ill informed. If you don't know the answer don't offer an unhelpful answer. Recommending a new motherboard is like a motorist taking his car into a garage with a blown fuse and the mechanic saying the only cure is a new car.
5 After a lot of research I found one lone website that explained that from July 2013 Samsung introduced a change to their ROMs which introduced an efs 2 file. Additionally it appears that once you have flashed/upgraded to an efs2 ROM you cannot then go back to an efs ROM.
6 This is above my understanding but I do know I did go from efs to efs2 and when I then encountered a problem I thought it a good idea to go back to my original (efs) ROM which I now believe caused my problem.
7 I did not know if I had found the answer but as I believed my phone was a paperweight at that point anyway I had nothing to lose and downloaded the GT-I9300.pit file and flashed with repartition selected. I then flashed Android 4.3 knowing it would be an efs2 ROM and my phone is now working again.
8 However, although my phone is now working again, I find that I cannot install a custom recovery nor can I root the phone but that is a small price to pay to have a brand new S3 working again.
9 Whilst it may not be wise to mess about with the pit file, it seems nothing can be lost to give it a go because even if it doesn't work you can still go for the new motherboard option happy in the knowledge you have tried everything.
10 I may start a new thread for advice on that matter but for the time being I'm just relieved to have my phone back and I stress again that it did work for my specific problem and whilst it might work for you please only do it knowing it may not work for your problem.

Serious issue - White screen

Hi team.
I have Googy-max2 kernel and dualboot (official GMK6 on 1st ROM and temasek's ROM on second ROM). I always use temasek's. This morning I wake up, my phone was freezed. I rebooted it and since then I have a "white" screen like this : http://choualbox.com/Img/20110711213522Z.jpg
I could reboot it on mode download, the first time i was getting the same issue "like broken screen" but could read "Downloading.. Do not turn off target". Now, i'm getting clearly the download mode. When I plug my phone, Odin recognizes it but i can't flash anything. Nothing happens when I put "Start" button...
Edit: now i'm getting "FAIL!" error on Odin, with this :

Thanks, i'm a little bit freaked out...
And if it is really dead, is there ANY way to save some data like photos (not on external SD) ? :crying:
Nope. Pit partition destroyed. Need a new motherboard.

And in that case, is that sure I will loose my data ? Or samsung can change motherboard and keep my data ?
Any idea ?
Data is not recoverable from a dead motherboard.

Same problem with CM
I have same problem when I was using CM.
I tried to fix it use odin to repartition using several PIT file I found plus Sumsong stock ROM but failed every time.
Any idea? why I see such this screen and what happend to my Galaxy S III (I9300)? and how can I fix my phone?

I just brought my phone to an official Samsung repairing store. They checked for an hour and finally told me that they indeed need to replace the motherboard. Data will be lost, and it would cost me more than 200€.. At this price, I prefer buying a new phone
Sorry for the bad news dude...
But does it mean that temasek's ROM or Googy-Max2 kernel can damage Galaxy S3 phones ? I thought i was the only one getting this issue, but if you have the same problem...
Nothing to do with the rom or kernel, most sds is caused by the period when the phone was on ICS.

[BRICKED] I have Bricked my Galaxy S5 and can't Flash back or do anything!!

Hey everyone,
This is my first time posting here, My phone is a Galaxy S5 SM-G900V and it is not rooted and does not have a custom recovery that can unlock for MicroSD installing..
I have factory reset cleared cache, pushed files with ADB and I need unlocked Bootloader/recovery to use the StockRom/MD5 file to recover my phone.
I have tried many different tar files and stock firmware flashing and it always fails. I am at a loss because I believe I have tried literally everything, Only thing I have not done is flashed a Pit file because I am not a developer and know nothing about it. Only thing I know is that it Re-partions the device and if it goes wrong *Which it probably will* It will need a Motherboard replacement.. I dont have money for that because Im only 15 years old..

ODIN MODE
Product name: SM-G900V
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official

qualcomm Secureboot: Enable (CSB)

Another thing I heard which could fix this is using the Verizon software upgrade assistant but I cannot seem to find a download for it anywhere, so if anyone can get me the program for my device that would be amazing
Any help would be wonderful. If i wasn't thorough enough, please tell me what might assist in helping me diagnose this. This turned out to be one of the worst mistakes I have ever done*been trying to fix for whole week*.

It just shows the Samsung logo and doesn't do anything..
Maybe you just need the right firmware and flash it the right way.

America, and I have flashed 20 different software's, never works..
It's not rooted? Maybe you should root it. Then see if you can go back to stock. Then do a factory reset from Verizon's setup. I bricked my phone by installing an att intended Rom on my Verizon and that's what fixed it.
Brother I have Mobistel Cynus f6 (gingerbread)..I have just bought it before 3 months ago approximately...
But its had just before 2 days ago showed my 64 GB sdcard as I have tried to format it also with PC ,but unfortunately it is totally damaged now, even now PC does not detect it anymore.
Then yesterday I have bought 16 GB sdcard but my cynus f6 has showed it also damaged. Then I have factory reset my device and my SD card works now.
Now the problem is that in every 30 min it gets again damage and I am doing factory reset till yesterday in every 1 hour...
I need your help...please help me...

Root it while it is bricked? how..
I payed a friend 40$ to fix it im not sure how but he did.
There are two parts to this. One is the bootloader/recovery startup process and the other is the ROM you have on your phone. You can wipe the ROM and it won't boot. But there is nothing wrong with the Bootloader. But if you root it then you can go find a way to restore the a rooted STOCK ROM for the S5. The question is.. what version of Android were you running? You need to find a root guide for S5 that is the same as what you were running. For example, Marshmellow 6.01. I just did that and found a good article for my Note 5 in the XDA area for my phone. If you get it rooted, then you can also find the stock ROM in the same area in XDA. Just have to hunt around in the help guides.
