I really don't have a battery problem with current D version, wonder if it's even with trying to get and risk losing root privileges.

Download ota rootkeeper group the Play store. Then protect root. That will save your root.

What about if you have the locked bl cwm recovery and linked apps with link2sd?
How would that effect installing the update?

You have to uninstall link2sd and cwm or the ota will not work.

What's involved other than downloading the app and setting it up? Do I just update OTA and then have it work keeping root? Just want to check, my battery life is beyond bad.
Install ota rootkeeper, then hit the button that says protect root. Once the update is finished then you go back to ota rootkeeper and restore root.
Edit: I'd you have busybox don't forget to restore then uninstall busybox too.

Or you could try to force the ota by:
Reboot your phone
When it comes up go to system settings
Apps > all apps
Google services frameworks
Clear data then force stop the app
Then back out to systems settings
Go to about phone then system update
Then check for update
This may may not work but that's what we all did when the jb update came out.

Okay so it was just purchased yesterday at Walmart with android 4.1.2 preinstalled.
I followed the guide here and when it rebooted i now have inverted everything. The digitizer thinks its being pressed in the middle of the screen on the right when i press the back button and well everything is flipped.
I am trying to get root for my brother so we can install CWM recovery and flash CM 10.1. I have rooted many devices even created ROMs and edit smali code. I don't get what is going wrong with this setup but something is totally wrong.
Thanks all for your help!

If there is none for you yet, you cant get it. That simple however, you are able to flash a JB kdz using the offline flash method. Hope it helps

You don't have to get it back to stock (you can keep root if you want), but you need to have all unmodified stock apps. Those stock apps can be disabled, but should not have been removed.
If you remember which stock apps you have removed, you can try to ask for them here from people who hasn't updated yet (or extract from some backup people made). You can look at this file /system/cache/recovery/last_log to see the error / missing apps at the end.
But I think the easy way you should go to update is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359044

I have t-mobile LG P769 L9 , I have rooted it,
it keeps asking prompting me to update from v20f to v20h and it downloads and restarts and it shows the android icon for repairing/update
then it boots normally, then after a few days it asks me again to update from v20f to v20h again.
whats the problem ? how can I stop it, or update it once forever?

Tell me where your having trouble. You basically have to search for google.services framework which you can find in android tuners app manager. Long press for options.

Offline flash method it's a thread by cmahendra. ..and version 20h is newest for t-mob. Not sure what you have. There also might be easier way if any one knows. Such as syncing phone with computer to lg and update latest firmware (software)(kdz) whatever I should call it.

Forget about ota update bcoz rooted device never get ota update so I guess theres only one way to unroot your device
That is -Flash it using odin with the same firmware on which your rooted device is running now. Flasing earlier version of firmware will brick your device:thumbup::thumbup:
