If there is none for you yet, you cant get it. That simple however, you are able to flash a JB kdz using the offline flash method. Hope it helps

A lot of us forced the ota when jb first came out. Do a search for it too find out how.

I am on 4.0.4 p76810g now and want to update it to JB. I seems to remember that update won't happen if it find not all the T-Mobile apps are on the phone. I think I have removed one or two and frozen several other. Is there a way to check if my phone can be updated to JB?
Thanks.

You have to have all stock

You don't have to get it back to stock (you can keep root if you want), but you need to have all unmodified stock apps. Those stock apps can be disabled, but should not have been removed.
If you remember which stock apps you have removed, you can try to ask for them here from people who hasn't updated yet (or extract from some backup people made). You can look at this file /system/cache/recovery/last_log to see the error / missing apps at the end.
But I think the easy way you should go to update is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359044

Yeah that's what I meant

I don't see this last_log file, I don't even have /system/cache

There is no /system/cache. You have to find /cache/recovery/last_log.

[Q] {URGENT} Rooting LG Optimus L9 P769 from T-Mobile USA

Okay so it was just purchased yesterday at Walmart with android 4.1.2 preinstalled.
I followed the guide here and when it rebooted i now have inverted everything. The digitizer thinks its being pressed in the middle of the screen on the right when i press the back button and well everything is flipped.
I am trying to get root for my brother so we can install CWM recovery and flash CM 10.1. I have rooted many devices even created ROMs and edit smali code. I don't get what is going wrong with this setup but something is totally wrong.
Thanks all for your help!
Im making progress.. just.. really... sleepy.. xD

Remember the first page is to get your phone ready for root. The second page is to get your computer ready. Read both pages first several times if need be. Remember to REPLACE the bin file, replace.

Yes I got the correct kdz for the device and have successfully rooted and fixed the touchscreen. Now it's just a matter of installing cwm.

What about if you have the locked bl cwm recovery and linked apps with link2sd?
How would that effect installing the update?

You have to unlink the apps then uninstall link2sd. Once you update then just reinstall. But make sure you download ota rootkeeper and protect your root.

What's involved other than downloading the app and setting it up? Do I just update OTA and then have it work keeping root? Just want to check, my battery life is beyond bad.
Install ota rootkeeper, then hit the button that says protect root. Once the update is finished then you go back to ota rootkeeper and restore root.
Edit: I'd you have busybox don't forget to restore then uninstall busybox too.

Or you could try to force the ota by:
Reboot your phone
When it comes up go to system settings
Apps > all apps
Google services frameworks
Clear data then force stop the app
Then back out to systems settings
Go to about phone then system update
Then check for update
This may may not work but that's what we all did when the jb update came out.

Where are OTA files stored?

Need to remove the OTA files downloaded to my rooted L9. I can't find the post (I searched) that indicated where within the system the OTA files are housed.
Thanks in advance!

No. Once you're rooted, there are tools you can use to update ROMs without a computer, but you've got to at least have superuser access.
There's no way to gain that which doesn't require a computer.
I think he's on a rooted ROM already, hence why he's wanting to go back to stock rooted. Use mobile odin from the play store. There's many threads on how to use it, so search for one of those. I'd give you detailed instructions or link you to them, but I'm on my phone and not at home to get to the computer. Hope this helps

Can I update my rooted 4.2 to 4.3

I recently rooted my Verizon Galaxy s4 on 4.2 and just noticed today 4.3 pushed down on my phone as available. If I update will I brick my phone or should it work?
You will get an error message because your phone is modified. No update for you, you will have to flash back to stock unrooted.

I'm glad somebody here is willing to help you, but it's important to note that you're posting in the wrong forum. This forum is for the S4 Active available on AT&T and internationally which is a different phone than the regular S4. The forum you are looking for where you will get better help related to your device can be found here.
Ha! After my answer I went straight to Sammobile and started searching for 4.3 lol, now I realised that he asked about S4.. thanks for clearing that out!
