T-Mobile ota update keeps wanting to install - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

OK my phone keeps bothering with the update, problem is I've done
LGPWN.apk Root
Locked boot loader cwm
Link2sd partition with like 10apps
Black status bar mod
Qslide hide mod
So how hard will it be to revert to stock?
And if to hard is there anyway to block the ota notifications?

How about disabling auto check for updates? If you ve got a backup of your rooted original ROM, there wont be no problem at all. Restore, unroot, update, root, enjoy

Actually, that'll work!
I got a stock nandroid backup.
So I would just backup my apps with titanium backup and restore in the 20F version.
But is that version rootable the same way?
And what about artas cwm locked recovery? How do I uninstall that?

Removing recovery:
Delete /system/bootstrap directory
Delete /system/bin/e2fck
Rename /system/bin/e2fck.bin to e2fck
Done!

why dont you just flash the 20d to 20f update that lelus made. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359044 when prompted to select yes to keep root.
Very easy.

Unroot P769?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew a method to unroot the phone. You see, I rooted it thinking I would probably use it for a while. However.....turns out it has a hardware defect. While discharging, the phone will randomly shut off during long periods of inactivity.
So I need to turn it in to LG for warranty repair. But I've already factory reset the phone and SuperSU is still there. I've tried using the built-in removal for SuperSU and it's still there. I've tried using Root & Restore, it cannot find the device, so it's still there.
Anyone know a method to remove it before I turn it in? Or would it be ok to turn it in with SuperSU installed/disabled?

I would send as is. It will be reflashed anyway. Rooting doesn't affect hardware.
Did you use this method to root? Because you you should be able to unroot it as well.

Thanks, you're probably right. I just didn't want them to flat out deny it based upon SuperSU being there.

Tried, no luck. Though it probably doesn't help that I had some odd problems while rooting.....yet it still worked. I forget what exactly happened though.
1) Backup all apps and data in LG PC Suite.
2) Format internal memory from CWM. Hard Reset the Phone and Flash any latest official KDZ.
And you are back to fresh factory stock.
3) Restore apps and data with LG PC Suite if you wish.

When you flash unrooted KDZ, it wipes out recovery (cwm) with no trace. At least this happens on our P765 , P760.

[Q] Root/Superuser Problem Jelly Bean

Hi,
I updated my XT910 to 982.124.14 jelly bean. I protected the root with Voodoo and after the update completed i restored root. Now superuser behaves like my phone isn't rooted(in voodoo says it is).I've tried to update the SU biniares and it fails in gaining root access. I can't even get root permissions to any of my apps. Any solutions?
Thank you

Yes. Strange thing is that only voodoo recognises root. Everything else seems to believe the phone is unrooted. I've tried the terminal and when i press the order su it says permission denied. I've tried superuser update fix and it doesn't seem to find a problem.

I presume that you didn't update the binaries after performing a clean ics install via rsd lite and before installing jb.
I made the exact mistake with my razr and i still remain unrooted....
I believe there isn't a solution to this problem.

[Q] Question about 20f OTA issues (T-mobile 769)

I have a 769 on T-mobile, Jellybean 20d. I haven't been able to successfully update to 20f using the OTA (red icon). I realize there's an upgrade file to update manually with CWM, but after reading about the various issues, I'd really rather let the OTA take care of it. I've read through the forums and done the following things before trying the OTA...
1.) Remove all links and uninstall link2SD
2.) Uninstall busybox
3.) Unfreeze all bloatware
...but it still fails as soon as it starts a system check:
"file "/system/bin/debuggerd" doesn't have any of expected sha1 sums; checking cache"
Unless someone has more suggestions on how to "fix" my phone for the OTA, I'm thinking of trying either:
1.) Offline Lelus method, reflash 20d with root, OTA
2.) Offline Lelus method, downgrade to 10g with root, OTA
Anyone have recommendations on anything to try to get the OTA to work without flashing? If not, should I reflash to 20d or revert back to 10g?
Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't be uninstalling busy box... It'll mess everything up. And have you deleted any bloatware? That will interfere with the update... If you want to force the update the do the following trick.. Go to settings>apps then slide to the "All" tab and look for Google services framework and tap that. Then clear data>force stop>clear data. Do that for 3-4 times. After that reboot your phone and do the trick again once and check for update.

General consensus on the forums which I already searched through for hours state that link2sd and busybox need to be removed or else the OTA will fail due to changes in build.prop. I already stated I searched the forums and followed several posts. First of all, I attempted the update before uninstalling busybox, and yep, I got the red icon. I attempted the update each time after removing anything related to root. I also already stated I unfroze all the bloatware, meaning I didn't delete anything. Also I'm well aware of the trick to force OTA.
In any case, you made a lot of assumptions that were not correct, and you were rude to boot. That said, I still appreciate your reply. Guess I'm a sucker.

I unfroze everything. I assumed the OTA would want everything in default form, meaning no frozen applications.
Also, be sure to completely uninstall the locked bootloader cwm. (If that is you installed it)

No, I didn't install any cwm after installing jellybean; I did have a copy when I was on ICS, but I removed it before the upgrade (OTA). I'm guessing that while I was messing around with applications, I probably downloaded something that modified the build.prop.
I'll go ahead and flash the v20d kdz and try the OTA again, I don't see any posts that recommend going back to v10g.
Thanks for the replies, I'll post again if it works or not just to give this thread closure.

Still status 7, debuggered etc even without unfreezing those two apks.
I went ahead and flashed v20d with root / busybox, stupidly forgot to load up Voodoo before update, and ended up with 20f no root. Tried Jcase apk twice, but didn't work likely since I already had remnants of SuperSU. Can't remove, can only revert to a previous version. *facepalm*
Flashed v20d stock (no root) and completely uninstalled SuperSU.
Repeated v20d with root / busybox, root was not successful, although busybox installed, so the kdz procedure was correct. Tried Jcase apk twice again. Failed the first time, succeeded the second time. Didn't stupidly forget to load up Voodoo, updated to 20f, restored root, and done.
I certainly made that harder than it had to be, but nevertheless: :victory:
Thanks for the advice!

Update won't work without the bloatware installed. If you are rooted then don't forget to install voodoo ota rootkeeper. Then you go inside the app and hit the protect root button before the update.

SO? My bootloader is locked too and I still have custom recovery. Listen I'm working on my update.zip file that will transfer all system apps via cwm. If you have root then get the l9 recovery installer 1.5 from Artas182x from here.
EDIT: Ok here is my update.zip link. Just install the zip in cwm and you should be good to go.

Can't root l76920F with lgpwn apk

Earlier today I tried to unlock my bootloader by going to 10G then 20B, but I could not make it work after numerous attempts. So, I offline flashed back up to 20F. Since my touchscreen is still reversed I am now trying to root and install CWM to flash the touchscreen fix. Unfortunately, root no longer works and I cannot install busybox nor CWM. Any help would be appreciated.

I had to flash the ROM again when that happened to me. For some reason math bin file didn't work for me. I tried several times and I chalked it up to user error. Ended up using the lgpwn method and it worked.
