Smile [Q] Uprading to 4.2.1 Galaxy S Vibrant
Hello,
I was following step by step how to installe 4.2.1 jelly bean on my Samsung Galaxy Vibrant.
androidjinn.com/install-android-4-2-1-jelly-bean-4.html
I am having errors rooting using Super One Click. Locking up and Not responding... or just starting the process and not finishing.... anyways, i used another program to root called GalaxyS_One-Click_Root_All_Models. It ran fine, and then I proceeded to complete steps.. I got as far as getting to actually install the ZIP files named gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip and Hellybean-20121202-vibrantmtd.zip during recovery step at phone starting up using Volume up and down and holding the powerbutton on till 2nd reboot screen logo then let go.
Problem is from here i only get these options (i thought they should be new cuz of Root being used)
Reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
format internal sd card
Seems to me that I have completed steps 1 - 5 and there is no option for steps 6 and 7 which were data/factory reset or install zip from sdcard.
Then perform data wiping task. To do so, select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm your action. Wait few minutes till the data wipe is completed. Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Now, locate the Hellybean-20121202-vibrantmtd.zip file that you copied earlier in Step 2 and select it by pressing Power button. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM installation will begin.
This phone generally gets a little bogged down after some use.... no smooth screens , I would really like to have it running faster from this update.
If you suggest a newer version than 4.2.1 please let me know.. And I will download the different file... (just have to tellme which one to replace.)
Thank you so much, you guys are the best!!!

I was on a JB ROM that was starting to get sluggish for whatever reason. I just learned of Helly Bean ROM. I find the link on rootzwiki and download it and copy it to my phone's SD card. I press/hold power choose reboot and choose recovery. I know not to 3-finger boot to recovery in this stage so I use the ROMs reboot to recovery option. I make a backup of the current ROM. I then wipe dalvik, wipe cache, and finally i wipe data (factory restore) same as I've done a million times before. I choose install Zip from SD card choose the zip, the phone begins to install the ROM cuz I can see the little blue bar start and suddenly BAM! the damn phone reboots and stays stuck on the stupid SAMSUNG logo! WTF? I donwloaded the right ROM for the Fascinate and I didn't see any errors on the screen. The phone just reboots and stays stuck!
**** it! I'm going back to my Incredible.
odin back to stock and start over...if you need instructions click on the link in my sig!
hello to all
well i have tested a few ROM´s but the Custom Stock Rom (Codenam: ETERNITY) is one of the best in my opinion.
I have flashed this Rom, and it worked realy fine, my first mistake was that i did not make a backup, and my second mistake was that i have tried to flash some Mod´s.
After flashing a few Mod the Rom does not working correctly, anway i though i reflash it again, but that was not so easy as i thought.
After four time flashing, it did not work, so i thought, i flash the Original Samsung Firmware (i downloaded from Sammobile) so after flashing i rooted my S2 again and the Rom Eternity download it again, and save it in my mobile, in CWM window, i have follow this instructions.
Installation Pocedures:
If you're coming from ICS Roms, Stock Roms, AOKP/AOSP Roms or Custom Roms:
Download the zip file.
Put it in either internal or external SDCard.
Reboot in recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache.
Go to Mount and storage, format preload.
*If you do not have fromat preload in recovery (Except Philz and Jeboo kernels), Please go to Other Links section on 1st post to get the GS2ROMWipe. Then, run this in recovery*
Install the ROM.
After installation finish, reboot your device.
The first boot will take several minutes.
Please allow 5-10mins to let the media scanner to finish after configuring the Setup Wizard.
Then, open up SuperSU App and update it.
But it did not worked, later i have follow the instructions from the Video, the same problem.
I see only on Screen : " Samsung Brilliantly Stock Custom Stock ROM"
Please allow 5-10mins to let the media scanner to finish after configuring the Setup Wizard.

How to Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy S2 I9100 via XWLSS NeatROM
Step 1 - Download Android 4.1.2 XWLSS NeatROM for Galaxy S2 I9100 on the computer.
Step 2 - Connect and mount the phone's USB mass storage on computer with USB cable.
Step 3 - Without extracting, copy the downloaded XWLSS NeatROM zip file to the root folder on your phone's SD card.
Step 4 - Switch off the phone and disconnect its USB cable from computer.
Step 5 - Boot the device into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together.
Step 6 - Once the device boots into CWM Recovery, perform a full data wipe task by choosing Wipe Data/Factory Reset. NOTE: Use Volume keys to navigate and Power button to select an option in the Recovery Mode.
Step 7 - Perform Wipe Cache Partition and wait until the process completes.
Step 8 - Once the process completes, perform Wipe Dalvik Cache as well. This will prevent intermittent boot loop issues and other ROM related errors. To do this, go to "advanced" option and then select Wipe Dalvik Cache in CWM recovery.
Step 9 - Return to the main recovery menu and choose Install Zip from SD card.
Step 10 - Click Choose Zip from SD card. Use volume keys to navigate to NeatROM zip file that you copied earlier to your phone's SD card and choose it by tapping the Power button. Confirm the ROM installation on next screen and the installation process will begin.
Step 11 - Once the ROM is installed, go to "+++++Go Back+++++" and hit Reboot System Now in the recovery menu. The phone will now reboot and the first boot might take about five minutes to complete. So, leave it alone.
Your Galaxy S2 I9100 is now running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean based XWLSS NeatROM custom ROM. Go to Settings > About Phone to confirm the firmware version installed.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum.
Seeking help from the expert.
Recently I have successfully upgrade my Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 to Jelly Bean 4.2.2
Then I help my friend to upgrade his.
However, I got stuck.
Below is the sequence I performed before I got stuck:
1. The Tab was on firmware 2.3.3 version
2. I root and install clockworkmod using CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS file.
3. I performed backup
4. Then I follow the instruction written in one of the site for upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 i.e. wipe data/factory reset and "wipe cache partition and wipe Dalvik cache.
5. Load CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 custom ROM
6. Then it reboot to Cyanogen but I had trouble to load google app package. tried a couple of time it went back to main menu.
7. This is when thing went wrong. I restore back from the back up I did earlier. Restore was successful but reboot and hang.
8. Then I powered off again. Restart using (power and volume +) then I've got error message such as
E: unknown volume for path [/system],
E: unknown process volume! Skipping...
E: unknown volume for path [/ data]
etc, etc...
Now the tab is unusable. Kindly advice how to proceed.
Thank you

I attached herewith the picture so that you're clear with the problem I'm facing and give me the correct guide to resolve the matters.
Thank you
Good morning to you all, and thanks in advance if you can help me.
I just received an Ace 4 Neo from a neighbor who asked me to 'make it faster' and 'newer'. Naturally, with the Stock ROM what Samsung overloads, I wasn't going to do nothing as close. I came to the always loyal xda and found the Mega Thread of Ace 4 Neo: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ace-4/development/rom-cyanogenmod-11-12-13-ace-4-neo-ace-t3627637
I put into the phone the oldest Stock ROM available from the same origin country and carrier (TIGO - Paraguay), and after installed Custom Recovery TWRP 3.1.1-0 and tried to install a Custom ROM. There is where my problems started.
First, I tried to put CM13 or MIUI (Android 6.x) with no success. The phone when turning on just showed the model and stayed there. The only change was a red exclamation sign on the upper part of the screen. (Possibly, this will be helpful for you: When installing, the result said [ ] instead of [/system])
After 6 failures with each one, I desisted and instead tried with CM12.1 and this one successfully installed. I also tried to use OpenGApps Pico (as I really messed up trying to find how to install the GApps of the thread), and the phone turned on "without problems" (the CM in fact started, but the red exclamation point is still there).
After 8 minutes configuring the GApps, I configured the Google Account and such. However, I went to Play Store for naturally install WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter... The common things.
Surprise! The phone when installing suddenly rebooted. When turned on again, the home screen closed and opened 4-5 times in 20 seconds and rebooted again. It maintained on that loop over and over.
So, am I doing something wrong? Or do you know about how to fix any of the previous issues?
As a final note, because the Mega Thread doesn't have the classic installing instructions, after navigation for 2 hours I constructed this steps:
1. Reboot to Custom Recovery
2. Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Everything except Internal Memory and SD Card (Dalvik + System + other two things)
3. Install ROM
4. Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache (the button what shows there)
4. Install GApps
5. Wipe again Cache
6. Reboot
Again, thanks in advance.
Hi, @Pedreo1997. You need wipe internal storage, too.
Step-by-step install custom ROMs:
Flash oldest stock ROM with Odin.
Reboot system > use 1-2 minutes ( for sure )
Install TWRP 3.x.x
Wipe everything except sdcard.
Wipe > advance wipe > check system > option > repair
Install ROM and Gapps.
Reboot and enjoy
