I've been on ics, then jb, then went back to ics because of the battery. I was rooted and all that and kept getting the ota update message so I went back to stock and let it update to 20f. still not happy with jb so I wanna go back to rooted 10g but is there a way to completely block ota updates from popping up? I apologize if this has already been answered, if it has please direct me to the correct thread

Ok...I have the 2.1 v1 leak. I've read in a few posts that I may be able to do the maual OTA 2.1 then be able to root. Is this true...or not? Most of the discussions are on v3 leak. I think it was in Android forums where I read that v1 has the old HBoot that was rootable. Is that correct or am I still screwed??

You're still screwed. You can't do the OTA update and you can't root. None of the leaks can.

Yep, he's correct. I'm also on leak v1 and I can tell you for a fact the it did change the hboot to 1.49. That makes it unrootable at this point in time. This has been said many times before, but it's worth mentioning again.
THE OTA UPDATE (whether manually installed or installed OTA from Verizon) DOES NOT TOUCH THE BOOTLOADER. IT DOES NOT UPGRADE IT, NOR WILL IT DOWNGRADE IT.
I wasn't yelling or anything above...just made it nice and big so it gets noticed easily and read. Also, leaks can't install the OTA update anyway, the phone just returns an error no matter how you try to install it..
I never received the ota update last month or so. Not worried about that, as far as quality of the rezound...the phone is great...my concern is the ICS update. If i didnt get the verizon update, will i not get the ICS also? If any body has any answers, please post. Ive searched around and only found that many people have not gotten the ota, but no follow up about ICS. I do know that one is a verizon update and ics will be a google update. ty
Have you tried manually fetching the update? Are you rooted and rommed?

Simple Fix, get a new Sim card (never used) and let the phone auto activate (power up and let phone auto dial to activate on it's own, takes about 30-60 seconds), once activated pull the OTA(make sure the batteery is well charged). It'll download without the replacement hassles or HTC mail-in flash.
can someone give me an idea as to if i will need to revert back to stock or can i stay rooted to do anykind of OTA upgrade? this is coming due to all the talk of ICS coming to the Evo 3D. any help would be great

You can stay rooted don't take the OTA Wait till a rooted copy pops up in the dev section
Yep, as stated in multiple threads, NEVER take an OTA if you are rooted. Just wait about an hour after it comes out, and flash a rooted version in the Dev section.
Hey guys, quick question.
I'm rooted on 2.3.6, so I was wondering if Ill have to unroot to see the OTA in settings
Thanks.
No, but you will lose root after you update

You should see it when it comes. Your root will probably go away though. I just flashed all the way back to .171 and did the update to .181 (no root) manually just in case people who are rooted have issues with the OTA then itll be one less thing to worry about it.

I saw somewhere that root was already achieved for the OTA so that's no problem, thank guys.
You should unroot and then use this in order to get root again.
Is there a way to unroot without wiping?
If I root the HTC One on the stock rom well I still get the OTA updates from T-Mobile?

I swear this type of question must be asked in every thread. Try SuperSu and do some research for upgrading and keeping root. Rooting has been around for a while and there are ways around this. Honestly though why do people root if they want to get factory updates. You do realize that a factory updated rooted version would be out before or shortly after an official release is out....
OTA update and a rooted phone is not a big deal... Jus sayin
To answer your question directly...if you have stock recovery then yes. If you have custom recovery then no.
search next time but...
stock rom with root yes you will get updates.
If you have a custom recovery it may not flash.
I flash the tmobile ota ( the .28 one) with clockworks and all was fine.
