Before you get all like : "Man use the search button" and stuff i know what is s-off and i know that our device doesn't have one. xD
So here is the deal.
What do we need to get s-off on our device ?
Can we use the Revolutionary ?
How different is the s-off for HTC Desire,HTC Desire S and HTC Desire X ?

We need to have Kernel sources for getting s-off which are yet to be released by HTC, s-off is different for HTC desire , S etc. because their kernal sources are different..

like the title says... is it done yet? been looking and looking for solutions to that question. i'm already rooted using the htc method. but still looking for a way to get s-off.
check the 3D general section, there are a few threads on it with varying info.
short answer though - no
There has been some effort made towards this front, with little success. Whether you think it's a smoke screen, or not, evil devnull, and his team, attempted this around thanksgiving, and couldn't come up with anything. Not sure if revolutionary is quietly working on something, or if they are waiting for the ICS update, or if they are just done with bootloader unlocking, period (I'm not bashing those guys, but they have been eerily quiet since the bootloader changed to 1.5).
The unlocked, non carrier branded GSM guys have found a way to revert back to an eariler bootloader, using the HTC unlock method, and then performing a similar method to what the thunderbolt/evo shift 4g guys did to allow the Hboot to accept a RUU with an earlier hboot.
I think this doesn't get much attention, because the HTC unlock method allows you can do almost everything you could if you had S-OFF. The only thing missing is being able to flash radios.
At this point it wouldn't make sense for devs to come up with a solution now. Not with ICS around the corner
is there a temp root for hboot 1.5?

The only reason why i ask is because, ##data# or what ever it is, i found my midi number using an app in market place, but when i tried to adjust my volume. it doesnt want to work. i was wondering if me having s-on and rooted is affecting it in any way.
Ics is ice cream sandwich new android OS hopefully coming to the EVO 3d early 2012.

Unlocking your device trough htcdev will leave it s-on, but you will be able to flash roms. There isn't any rom yet though, and there isn't any way to get it s-off yet. You can't flash kernels trough cwm with htcdev unlockes, but you'll be able to flash them with fastboot.

HTC ONE V or DESIRE X...?
Hi all,
I Just sold my HTC Wildfire S cause of (very much disappointed) battery, low speed, low memory even after rooted the device.
Now I'm in dilemma to chose between ONE V and Desire X(my max budget).
I prefer Desire X then One V, because of :
Dual Core, 4 Inch Display, 768 Mb Ram, 1650 mAh battery and some say upgradable to Jelly Bean....
Can any ONE help me to decide on this....?
or give your verdict if you are going to buy......?
(I like to know more from Desire X users....)
I had the same dilemma too... But seller tell me to buy the desire (one v cost the same here). Bigger screen, dual core, better battery, jb confirmed by htc Czech republic etc. No problem at all. One v have some of my friends and have lot of problem with display and the chin at the bottom of the phone. I see three biggest advantage is jelly bean update. Desire x will have it but one v is officially stuck on ics forever

The only +ves of One V
720p video record
Compass
Higher PPI Display
In all remaining specs, desire X rox !
Thank you Guys,
I was expecting this kind of answer, I go with Desire X even though little bit more have to pay (around $30-40) more than One V in India.
Thanks again for the feedback...
This UK website claims they can S-OFF the Desire X. I wonder how, maybe there is a way after all? I've emailed them asking how they do it and i'll post back if they reply.

has anybody do this method?
Are in S-off big new features or what can I make more with S-off?
FAExZ
First of all: Nobody has done it yet as much as I know. And: With S-Off you unlock nand partition, that means you are able to customize radio and hboot and can flash kernels and recoverys via recovery and don't need a PC for that. But for now it isn't possible for us without special hardware, in this case jtag...
I can't post or leave a comment in development thread cause I'm a "newer member" (lower than 10 posts) so I create a thread in this category.
Consider my post cause it could help us to reach S-OFF.
Does Firewater S-OFF method help us?
I think yes cause it talks about "qualcomm-based" devices. Anyone tried it? I will try in a few hours!
Tell me or consider this post.
Great find.
Unfortunately closed-source but supposedly works on all Qualcomm-based HTC devices. In theory it should work on our device. Please let us know if you achieve S-OFF without the boot vibrations that happens with Rumrunner S-OFF: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630531
exit 1 status
I tried but when i had to confirm with "Yes" or "No" the agree terms of condition It returns "1".
I think I get an error and in fact I have S-ON.
EDIT: This is what i get.

Guys you should try Rumrunner S-OFF. There is a dedicated thread in Desire X Android development section.

Now that we have a working S-OFF for the Desire X, is this likely to help improve the development situation as far as getting a fully working CM 10.1/CM 10.2 goes?

No. S-off doesn't help in any development, but kernel & recovery flashing would become much easier as we can flash kernels & recoveries directly from recovery, no need of pc

Like you can split an hdd in partitions and set them a size, name etc. also android has its partitions to work on: one for bootloader, one for kernel, one for system, etc.
Changing the size it means you can set to which partition you want custom size, for ex. you can change /system partition size to 1mb and you will not be never able to boot a rom, for example..

There's an app to do this? Or from recovery?

It has to be done outside the phone on a PC. You have to extract the hboot, modify the image, and flash it back to the phone. Back at my old phone, the HTC Aria, we got someone in our forums who wrote a tool for that. But I doubt that it'll be much use for us. For the HTC Aria, it was important to get CM greater or equal 9 running because system partition was too small.
We seem to have lots of confusion here.
Some say you can get S-off with SuperSU when flashing twrp, others say you need rumrunner which at the moment does not seem to work. Is there a way to come to step by step agreement here?
I promise you that you cannot get soff with supersu, flashing/installing that only gives you root. Are you kitkat? If so using rumrunner to get soff is much harder. Would be best to downgrade to Jellybean, soff and then upgrade to kitkat.
