i had ics. i took the battery off and ill try again in a few minutes.
i'll post what happens.

Pls don't say it was 4.0.4 ics? ? Never ever do a factory reset with that as has brick bug. Some say its kernel some say software but either way you should never do this.

well, i bought the phone from my cousin with this firmware and i think it was 4.0.4.
so you say im in trouble? i dont know what should i do with brick bug, and frankly (as you can see) i dont now too much about android system.

You can try
A jig
Jtag
Mother board replacement
You could trying hold down vol-home button and power then put battery into phone. See if it go's to download mode.

you are really not giving a lot of details here...all you are saying you tried installing a rom and then it froze halfway..
Are you rooted firstly?
If you are have you flashed CF-root kernel?
How did you try to install the rom?
More info and then more people can help you out buddy..see if you can get into recovery and restart your phone.
well... if you've tried "every" (its not like there are a lot) button combination... then just go buy a jig from ebay and force it into download mode...

Nothing from what you said would help..
He obviously flashed it with Odin, and he said he's getting a yellow triangle with a computer behind it..
From what I understood, he could get into download mode.
So just boot into download mode and flash stock ROM. That should do it.

anyone else seeing an increase in the "i bricked my phone" threads?
dont think its coincidence they are increasing after the american variants have been released. People need to check what model they have before flashing things.
OP: not saying thats what has happened to you as you dont say if you have the i9100 or not, hopefully you do.

well from what he said by his post did not make sense at all..hence why i asked for more details to explain so i could give him a better explanation and guide to fix his problem...but you seem to get what he said so by all means do your thing....but if he comes back with more detail then i will point him to the right direction on what he needs to do...at the end of the day the more opinions he has the better for him

its ok and same goes by my post as well buddy..we all been in his position one way or the other
1st - Your phone is not bricked if it show an image. Whatever image it is. The only real software way to brick your phone is to flash bad bootloader or stop a bootloader while they are being flashed. However, Bootloader are flashed first. So if your phone stoped half way, you should not have trouble too much.
Remove the battery from your phone for like a minute, then reboot your phone in download mode (vol- + home + power and when the phone light up, release power.) Then flash another rom from odin.
Also, what rom did you used ? If you flashed a rom for another phone, then you might have flashed bootloader for that phone on yours, which is bad. In this case you will surely need a JIG.
sorry im new to this whole rooting/flashing thing. i downloaded the lightning rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
i have never rooted or doneanthing to my s2 before. all i did was follow the instructions on the page and thought it would be all good? it froze about a quarter of the way there in odin so i just took my phone out.
I usually find from this state I can get back to bootloader or download states
push and hold vol+ and home then power for bootloader
push and hold vol- and home then power for download
sometimes the phone can seem to freeze a little or even die (this happened to me loads on the galaxy s and once already on the s2) and removing battery sim etc or attaching the charger can jog it
however as other have said a JIG is your friend if for no other reason that even if you recover without it, custom roms up the rom count which some twitchy carriers might invalidate your warranty for, the jig will reset this
you can get them from ebay for less than £3 delivered, or there are instructions on this site for making them yourself if you are so inclined.
simply search 'galaxy s2 jig' on ebay mine was delivered today from portugal as I am way too lazy to make one and only wanted a counter reset anyway

XDA GENIUSES PLEASE HELP! Hard Bricked i9100

Hey guys.
I made a stupid error last night when I tried going from ICS CM9 back to ICS STOCK LPQ.
I forgot to wipe data and just wiped cache and dalvik cache.
The connection broke whilst flashing through ODIN and now I have a blank black screen and the phone won't turn on...((( (It does technically as when I try pressing the on button later on the phone would get hot - meaning its on but BLACK SCREEN)
I have tried taking the battery out for hours and putting it back in...nothing is working.
I don't know what to do...I'm in uni where I have fast wifi. Please help. Any advice would be grateful
EDIT:
Ok.
So usb jig arrived this morning. Ripped it open. Popped my sgsII from charger (fully charged I think!) took battery out - 15 secs
placed battery back in.
Inserted USBJIG. . .
. . .
. . . . BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH
Nothing....Still the same. No screen activity...sad...
only way is either JTAG or Samsung service center right?
I used to have yellow exclamation mark + 4 counts....but they can't see anything so they won't know right?
or did the usbJig work but just the fact that I can't see anything on the screen??
...sad I hated seeing noobs flashing phones improperly and crying when it got softbricked....well even though mine is a straight hardbrick i still feel sad....noob
update.
I've taken it to SSCentre on tuesday. I called them yesterday and they said they couldn't fix it over there and had it shipped somewhere else...is that bad?
it could take upto 2 weeks!!!!!!
I rememeber the engineers working on my friends Galaxy S last year and they didn't have to send it to somewhere else. (he had the soft brick 3 yellow logo icons) and didn't have the version where the download/recovery mode didn't work) The engineer just flashed it with latest stock sgs firmware (ignoring that csc was orange lol)
Maybe my flash was so impeccable I fried the motherboard? I'm one kick ass bricker....

If you can get into download mode then there is still hope. If you can't then your only option is either warranty repair of Jtag service. If download mode then works then just reflash using Odin.
You flash i9000XXJVU to your i9100 phone? So you need JTAG or do service. Your bootloader is totally dead

Didn't even notice that XXJVU was an i9000 firmware.
To OP: Yup nothing to do, but send it in for repairs.
yeah sorry not JVU LPQ (I was getting mixed up with firmwares)
Yeah phone not going into download or recovery mode.
I think when I press the power button the phone does turn on but I get nothing but black screen....(the phone warms up)
So shall I order a JTAG to flash? or take it to repair centre?
Will they know I've been flashing this thing to death? Counter is on 4 at the moment..... so worried!

vol down+power+home button is download mode
Check it once again if it doesn't work...
maybe u can try some usb-jigg ?!
so you can come in to download-mode and then flash with odin =(

JTag is not Samsung warranty its a paid for service .
or take it to repair centre?

.
Warranty is void with custom rom root or rom counter above zero .
Will they know yes counter is on 4 .
Will they ignore it and put it through as warranty they may but dont count on it .
USB jig would be the starting point .
That fails you could go to warranty repair if thats rejected then pay for JTag repair .

if you have adb maybe you could try:
1. Connecting your device to PC while turned off,
2. CMD > adb devices
* If you see your device connected, proceed with:
adb reboot recovery or adb reboot bootloader
* If you don't see any device connected, try googling for qhsusb_dload driver for your device, and after you install them (and maybe a couple of PC restarts) repeat step 2
3. if you manage to get to recovery, i hope you have your nandroid backup so you could restore them.
my HTC sensation 4G had this situation few days ago, couldn't go to recovery/bootloader, blanked out when turned on and had fever
i fixed it using those steps, i wish i could remember where i got the qhsusb driver thingy from.. i'll let you know when i remember.
edit: it might work on S2, or might not.. i don't know this will help or not, but you could read adb/fastboot/bootloader/android 101, maybe you could get something from there

The bootloader death thing is not 100% true. When I first got my phone, (when there wasn't any rom for it) I tried flashing a I9000 rom. I was so stupid and luckily it didn't break my phone. After the flashing it turned on and stayed on bootlogo.
It was a miracle for me!

[Q] HELP! My Samsung Galaxy S3 International I9300 is stuck in bootloop!

Hi,
I have the exact same problem as some of the other bootlooped/bricked Galaxy S3's, i was on a custom samsung 4.1.2 rom for about a month and while browsing the net today it crashed went in bootloop now i cant get out, went into cwm recovery mode and factory reseted but didnt do anything.
The problem now is i cant go back into clockwork mod at all, so i went into download mode by pressing power + voloume down and menu button and went into download mode and opened odin flashed a stock rom, however it just keeps saying fail after nand write.
I now tried a custom rom and the same issue occurs and it fails, now when i pull the battery out and turn it back on all i get is a error message saying 'firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again' can somebody please helppppp me i literally have no phone at use at the moment!
Thanksssss :highfive:

If you have a jig you might be able to bring it back to life and get in downloadmode and retry flashing a stock rom again. Pull the battery for a minute, reinsert it and use a jig. If you don`t have one try to buy one. Good luck

It's only 2pm here in Cali, I'll be trying all night. Plan b is to send it into Mobiletechvideos, they do international shipping too, 5 star rating. But in the mean time, I'm going to do some ODIN trouble shooting, maybe try the Mac OSX alternative, Heimdall, and see if I can get it to connect.

I relate to you guys for that's exactly the same problem I'm going through. After successfully updated to the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 UK BTU international version and beautifully restored all my apps via Titanium backup I then proceeded to restore as well my EFS folder through a program named kTool, ignoring its warning message cuz I was just following a tutorial put out on a S3 Brazilian forum believing there was no danger at all.
Well, to my sadness and despair it returned on a bootlooping mode, if you will, and I did everything firstly tried to recover then wiped cache, dalvik, data, formatted the whole stuff and finally installed again via odin in download mode the same jelly bean 4.1.2 all to no avail
Now I got the bootlooping and when I press volume up + power + home I get a screen with a seemingly dead robot with a exclamation sign in its chest. Please what do I do in order to fully recover my S3?? this situation is killing me.

Dude, I've watched that vid but haven't tried that procedure so far, matter of fact I will do that however flashing an earlier version of the ROM, perhaps JB 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 or yet the current one from another country since the UK BTU version I downloaded was somehow corrupted. Anyhow thanks for the heads up to avoid factory reset and reboot it instead, hopefully I'm going to manage to get the CWM recovery screen cuz now I get only this:
Android system recovey <S3>
Volume up/down to move to highlight:
power button to select.
Reboot system now
apply update from ADB
Apply update fom external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
Right below it appears, along with the fallen/dead robot, the folowing message:
# MANUAL MODE #
Applying Multi-CSC....
Applied the CSC-code: ZTO
Succesfully applied multi-CSC.

[Q] Galaxy s3 screen bootloop

Hey guys,
I have a galaxy s3 (I9300) and I've had it rooted for some time now. I started using CyanogenMod 10.2 nightlies a few months ago and they've mostly been fine. The odd issue comes up but I've been able to work it out. So, a few hours ago my phone just turned off of its own accord and started to bootloop, but on the "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300" screen, not the CyanogenMod screen (to clarify, this screen comes up first then the cyanogenmod one usually). I've tried booting into recovery (CWM 6) but it just shows the CWM boot logo thing (that cog with the hat) and then loops back to the galaxy s3 page. I've also tried putting it in download mode, and it seems to stay on the warning page longer than it does anywhere else, but it wont let me actually put in it download mode from there.
I had a look around google and saw people have had the same problem, but everything I could find was when people had flashed a new rom/kernel etc. and something had gone wrong in the process. The weird thing about mine is that I haven't changed anything, even downloaded any new apps, for maybe a week, so it's not like something suddenly changed. I also wasn't using it when it started, it was just sitting on the table next to me.
Usually I can work these things out, but I'm stumped here. Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Nope, if I press the volume up button to go into it, it just goes back to the bootloop. I'll try the battery thing though, thanks!
Nope, it didnt work, I left it out for maybe half an hour and nothings changed :/ anyone else got any ideas?
SDS thread and BootLoop identical questions posted .
What does Product Code say in download mode .
But if you cannot get to download mode then you need a service centre repair .
looks like u are facing SDA but a bit diffrend than a normal SDS.. mine still can go into download mode with blank product name..
If product name is blank in download mode then you got sudden death, consider a phone as a brick. Nothing will help, including repartitioning.
You need to contact service centre.
I'll check it in a minute, but if it is bricked, will any service center actually help me seeing as it's rooted and all?

AFAIK if it's sudden death then it's not possible to detect root and other modified things, or in other words - nobody has money to prove that you have been using unofficial firmware .

Ahhhh, well that is handy then
In terms of a service centre, will samsung have a list of them somewhere so I can find one near me?
So I contacted samsung and they gave me the link to book into a service centre etc, but I just realised that when I try to go into recovery mode, the CWM recovery logo comes up before going back to bootloop. Is there any way to get rid of that so that my root is completely untraceable?

If you can't flash anything with Odin (stock software) then you're screwed. Eventually you can try to enter recovery and flash "eraser" of recovery, but this requires working recovery... So if you actually can enter recovery then you can also flash anything, which will literally delete everything.
In other case, no, no way. But if you're lucky enough you may break it just by leaving your phone on for some hours in bootloop, haha.

Is there any way to wipe it with magnets or anything? hahah I'm clutching at straws now, but otherwise I'm just left with an expensive paperweight so I'm trying to find anything I can

To be honest think twice before physically crashing your internal memory, as it may void your warranty at all.
I'd try flashing stock firmware through odin, if it doesn't work I'd try flashing anything through recovery. If both of these methods fail just leave your phone in bootloop and hope that it'll automatically destroy everything...
Seriously though, you can either physically destroy internal memory or leave it in bootloop and hope for the best, eventually send them device in current status. Up to you, because you won't have a possibility to do anything else.

If I send it back to them as it is now it'll take them about 20 seconds I reckon before they see the CWM logo, realise its rooted and send it straight back, so I dont know what I'm gonna do hahah

Soft bricked phone that does not listen to instructions.

Phone: Samsung S2
Model: SHW-M250S (Korean T model)
My phone had the default firmware to begin with. I took it into my own hands to flash a custom rom because my phone did not allow me to pause or skip songs on the home screen which was very irritating. I first tried to flash the GT-i9100 firmware however my phone ran out of batteries in the middle of flashing with Odin. So now it is soft bricked. Yay. I then re-flashed the GT-i9100 firmware however it just stopped in the middle of the operation no matter how many times I restarted.
I then decided it was best to go back to good the good old firmware for SHW-250S. I was able to flash back to the firmware with Odin saying Passed. I then rebooted my phone and since then, it has been forever stuck on the red T flashing. I have researched for the past 3 days. Living without a phone, is like living without toilet paper.
I am a noob, please help me

Okay... Can u go into recovery mode..??
Try going to recovery mode... If you are able to then do a data wipe.. And try rebooting... If it doesn't work then
Check if the firmware that you have downloaded for your phone is correct or not... The problem might be with that...
Download the right one for your model and flash it again with Odin..! Find a proper Odin guide and do accordingly.!

Yes I can. I factory reset it and now it is loading in the Samsung S2 screen. However its taking unusually long to boot.

After factory reset it takes a long time for the first boot..! I think you should probably be more worried about the phone booting up than the time it's taking...

Sorry for taking a long time to respond. Had to go somewhere. So then I left my phone for about one 1 hour and it still didn't boot. At some point I just gave up. I think the reason was because I couldn't get the right files for my firmware? My previous firmware was Jelly Bean 4.1.2 SHW-M250S. And I can't seen to find a working one. I have slow internet so I cant download everything. By slow I mean my peak download is like 200kb/s.
