U can remove it by being rooted using root explorer and go into apps and look for the updater app and delete

[Q] update notification

Guys, i have downgrade and root a xperia ray yesterday, but after that i have update notifications on my notification bar. Is there anyway to disable it? And what if i update it? Will i lost my root access? Thanks guys.

for hiding the update notifications please clear data on updater. go to app and find updater and clear data.
but it will appear if you connect the internet for several times.
for permanently disable, just uninstal it by titanium or root explorer. just tap uninstal on updater apl.
if you update via your phone (OTA). it will not break your root. but if you update via PCC, you break it
Thanks mate. I really new to this ray, so many differences compare to my w8.

OTA Update Notification

I don't accept OTA Updates. Is there any way to turn off the notification from the notification bar permanently? I've looked around in all of the phone's settings but I can't find a setting. Maybe I'm just missing it?
I've never seen a setting for that either

Settings > apps > updater > clear data :: No update available message.
I'm not saying to delete updater, but try "uninstalling".

Thanks. That at least got rid of the notification. I'm guessing I'll probably have to do that every time I reset my phone if I don't uninstall the updater.

[Q] Disable OTA update notification!

I have a rooted galaxy nexus. How can I disable to OTA update notification, its driving me crazy. I have tried the method where you use root explorer to access cache/fota folder, but I do not have a fota folder. Any other ideas?
Try deleting the application with any root explorer?

[Q] How to Disable Update Notification?

My phone is rooted, TWRP installed. The updates use to have the option to "Install Later", but now that option is gone. The only option is to Download. I tried using Android Tuner and System Tuner to disable the notifications, but I get the message "Failed to disable option" when I deselect the checkbox next to the update notification.
Any ideas?

You get the "Install Later" option only after downloading .
GravityBox from XPosed Framework also has an ongoing notification blocker.

That doesn't help me at all... Even after downloading the 133mb update, the notification still exists. I don't want to download the update, I want to disable the notification entirely.

First, disable update checks in Settings. Then clear data for Updater in Settings. Reboot. See if that works.

There is no place in Settings > Updates to disable updates. Running JB 4.1

Are you sure?
Should be Settings -> System Updates -> HTC software update. There should be a box to uncheck for automatically checking for updates. You're saying that isn't there?

What rom are you running? Most devs disable HTC Software updates from the System updates section. You can find it in the stock Rooted rom, and some others.

Stop android update on custom ROM

I'm using a semi-stock rom that's been debloated and rooted and a bunch of extra junk....there was a new update released recently and my phone is wanting to update. What's the preferred way to stop the system from trying to update and get rid of the download and notification?

Remove the Update Center app.
It's located in /system/priv_app/Update_center(-release).apk
use any System Application Disable App from playstore, browse for software update , and disable it ..
i.e. if you don't wana remove / delete system component
