Just need a quick advice, if I should go ahead and buy this tablet.
There is 1 offer going on
http://www.shopvault.com/liveevents/tech
I will get this for $299-$25 (Credit)=$274
I know this is not best in the breed considering the tablet specs now a days.. but is it still worth a buy at $274 ?
Any kind of feedback, issues will be highly appreciated.

yes i also thought of the same..
plus i goggled & found some persistent issues which refuse to go even after updates..
-wifi disconnects during sleep (whatever settings u may select)
-takes a lot of time to wake up after sleep
-screen flickers..
-below average battery...
not user if the above issues still exist... somebody using the tablet may comment...

The N7 is.... 7".
This is 9.4". Big difference. The build is also excellent and the folded magazine style makes it great for portrait use. Tegra3 is aging but its fine for what I use it for (mostly web browsing and PDF reading).
At that price I'd say go for it - I did the same LOL but it was a few months ago. I have the wifi sleep issue which is annoying but not deal breaking - after all, it works when I'm actually using the tablet
I have an Xperia Z with 4.2.2 and I cannot tell the difference between JB and 4.1. From the leaks there's not a heap more coming in 4.3 either.
The only other 9.4-10" tablets you're going to get at that price are the cheap chinatabs which have far worse build and are heavier, basically SGS2 guts vs Tegra3 = draw I'd say.

I had problem as well choosing tablet 9-10 inch. Only Nexus 10 and xperia tablet s were worth to take. I bought XTS.
UPDATE 27/7
- avoid this Sony crap! take Nexus 10 - you won't regret

What the hell has this to do with "tablet S General"?
It really has nothing to do with Sony but for the record, I'm not buying the Nexus 7 tablet, for a start I don't like the fact it has a phone user interface, yes, it's smart but it's Jelly Bean, any device with Jelly Bean would act in the same way - seeing as though Sony has confirmed Jelly Bean for this device than i'll wait thanks!

I am waiting until they release a Nexus10. I bought the original Galaxy Tab 7" thinking that I preferred the smaller tablet as I could grip it in one hand. Then I bought the Sony Tablet S and I love the larger screen.

I'm with Gramon on this one. As cheap as a Nexus 7 is, it's missing too many features for me, and that 7" form factor is just too small after upgrading my old GT-P1000 7" Galaxy Tab for the Sony's glorious 9.4". I would never go back.
For an added bonus, I don't know what problems you guys are having. I have the occasional WiFi disconnect (saves battery so I live with it), but everything else about mine is still great.

Totally agreed. I want a nexus7 just for the ease of carrying, nothing more. You cant do anything productive with a 7inch tablet. it really depends with what youre using the tablet for. For me, its reading magazines and comics, so 7inches is too small for a comfortable viewing (ive tried the galaxy tab7, not so nice) so 10 inches is the most appropriate, for me. It really depends on what youre mostly using it for. I agree with the wifi thing, it saves battery.
For the mean time ill be sticking to my tablet s till the xperia tablet is out, the folded magazine design still wins me over other tablets.

I swear I should just keep this on clipboard!
The Nexus 7 is cheap and relatively capable, but doesn't have have any of the bells and whistles, and most importantly is much smaller at 7". This will be particularly noticeable when reading and watching videos. It is however much more portable.
The Surface is currently unavailable so pricing is an unknown at this point. The Surface is much larger and is aimed at more of a laptop-replacement than most others. It runs Windows 8 which you will either like or absolutely detest. It will come in two variants: the more power-efficient, thinner and lighter but feature-limited ARM version and the larger x86 version with extra ports, processing power and the ability to run full Windows including legacy apps. The OS is its biggest feature and that's a personal choice.
The XPERIA tablet is designed as a replacement for the Tablet S and is slightly thinner and lighter, but with a more conventional form factor. Beyond that, who knows. It hasn't been announced yet (expect that at IFA), but it will probably be a Tegra 3-powered device similar to the S, but a bit more conventional. This is all complete hearsay, so do not put confidence in it.
My final message would be: don't decide now. Wait until after IFA and after more details about the new generation of tablets emerge. Then decide, but remember the golden rule:
There is no best tablet, only the best tablet for a specific purpose.

Also, this might just be me, but if you already have a Galaxy Note, a 7" Nexus 7 is probably not the right choice for you. There's only going to be 2 inches of difference between them. This is just my opinion, of course, but make sure you try out a Nexus before you go buying one.

Best Budget Tablet?

Hello,
Looking into investing in a little cheap tablet for general usage (Internet browsing, social networking, emails and spotify/netflix), wanting something with better specs than my phone so I'd be happy with a 1.5ghz dual core 7" tablet and 1gb ram would be nice. Looking to spend well under £100 and from a well-known site/company and not wanting to import or buy from abroad so UK only would be great. Development wise, it'd be nice to have it rootable with a microsd slot (for A2SD purposes) and custom ROMs and recovery would also be nice to have.
Thanks,
Curtis.
its going to be difficult to find what you want in that price range. im not sure whats coming out in the near future but the nexus 7 is still probably the best bet. (for that price)
no, isnt, if you like quad core yeah, but if you know how to manage it, the kindle fire hd for 200 dollars and the kindle fire 2 generation for 160 or 150 dollars
Looking to spend well under £100 and from a well-known site/company and not wanting to import or buy from abroad so UK only would be great. S
So well under $130. its not impossible but devs dont support crazy off brand tabs, which he stated he wants.
Dude. Dont waste you money and regret it later! spend around 150 pounds and get the nexus 7. worth every penny. it has aweseome dev. support. will get latest versions of android etc.
Get china tablet that unknown brand.
Just get a nexus 7 man. You'll love it.

Well, there's no word yet on what the new n7 will be, or if they're even going to make a change to it. However, i would say get the n7 now if you need a tablet now, or wait until the next n7 releases, and buy the "old" n7 at a discounted price, since that's probably not far off.
Don't get the kindle. It's got much less processing power, and Amazon isn't going to support it for aosp releases, so you're stuck with developer releases only. I'm still on the xoom, which is working well, but with jelly bean there's a lot of functionality i've had to give up.

Wait or not N10

I am interested on getting a tablet on June. I'll be using it for mostly reading, watching videos and movies, surfing and working. I am highly interested in the N10 for the hardware and also for being a Nexus device. I've never owned a nexus device but I think it should be better than the crappy Samsung's interface, right? Also, thought about the N7 but the lack of JB 4.2, the camera and the screen is pushing me back...although both sizes fit me well.
I've read a few threads and I've tried to search for I/O predictions but I'm not lucky. So, is it worth it to buy the N10 on June? Is the pogo charger worth it?

the next nexus tablet even if it announces at google i/o, it most probably won't be on sale before nov/dec. So you got another few months for the n10. And considering it's a nexus device, you'll be supported by Google on updates for a longer time even if new tablets come out.
If you keep on thinking wait for the next one, you'll never be able to buy one since new devices nowadays come out way too quick.
for the pogo charger cable, in my opinion it definitely worth it. prevents wear on your usb port, charges faster and very easy to plug/unplug (magnet).

Thanks a lot for your answer. I'm not that kind of person who follows technology just when it is released. I just thought that If there as going to be a new nexus, with better hardware at the same price, on June or July, I could wait. If it is on December or something, then I'm good with the nexus 10.
I just have to check light bleeding (no idea what it is) according to some threads here.
About the pogo, thanks too.

Had my N10 roughly less than 2 months now. Came from the N7. Difference in speed and responsiveness was huge!
Bought the magnetic pogo pin as well. Definitely worth investing in.
New Nexus tablet? Probably in December 2013
coming from an iPad for almost one month
I would say definitely worth to buy the N10 now. New set probably be released end of the year.
POGO charger definitely worth the money (i think could have been included or cheaper but i have no regrets) i feel more comfortable with a (non wearing off port)
Just grab it. I've had mine for about a month or two now and it's been great. Check out the sony tablet z as well. It has some pros over the nexus but some cons as well, but it looks like another good choice.

I bought 1 back in December and have had 0 problems with it. Geez enough already. Everyone and their dog knows you hate the Nexus 10. You don't need to spam every thread reiterating your hate.
Look, there is more than black and white to this. There can be an opinion between "Love it or hate it". Some people like the tablet just fine and accept some shortcomings which they are looking for possible answers for here on XDA for example. Others have low expectations and are overly happy with the tablet. And again others - like yourself - spent money and are disapointed for whatver reason and they voice their opinion. That's fine and there are threads even on this forum - several of them - where voicing your opinion is perfectly fine. You did that, others did as well, that's cool.
But there are threads where this is not appropriate, where mouthing off about the product when a simple question has been asked is not the way to respond on an open forum. That makes it very hard to have a reasonable discussion on the topic asked. I do not understand why it would make you happy to derail every question asked into a "Nexus 10 sucks, do not buy it!" thread. Heck I do not even own the tablet and find it annoying!
I do not want to censor anything, just want to ask for your cooperation with the users here. None of them are at fault if your tablet is not working the way you think it should.

Hi,
can you particularly tell what N10 has over Z and vice versa. It would be helpful for me and/or others who are about to be in dilemma of choosing between these two.
Can only go by specs at this point in time as the reviews are far and few between.
Z would have a snapdragon S4pro processor which may or may not be an improvement over that Exynos 5 dual core, hard to tell, but due to the lower resolution performance will maybe be better especially in games. 1080p screen, SD card slot which may be the killer argument for some. However it is running on 4.1.2 at release with Sony promising an open approach in regards to AOSP development, a policy they have recently adapted. Still, it will be third party development. The Z is also dust and water resistant wich is a nice and potentially useful gimmick.
We all know the specs of the N10, the next step would be a head to head comparison by some independent website.

Buying a XTZ still recommendable now?

Is it still recommendable to buy a XTZ now given that the nexus 7 has already been released and the note 10.1 has been refreshed? I just sold my ipad 4 and was originally set on buying the nexus 7 but am hesistant because of all the build quality problems.
How is the AOSP program coming along? Are the CM builds usable? What sort of bugs are there?
Thank you

I literally Just bought an XTZ 32GB this week (Right after watching Samsung announce the the new Note 10.1), and in the two days I've had it I have ZERO regrets. This sucker is FAST, and the screen is gorgeous!
Haven't used the CM builds yet but I understand there are stable ones out.

I would buy another XTZ as opposed to the Nexus or Note tablets, there are too many issues with the Nexus tablets for me and the Note tablets have terrible dev support thanks to Samsung and their lies.
The XTZ is amazing, the AOSP builds have everything working except HDMI/HLL. That's not supported on any device with CM though as far as I know.

I would definitely buy the XTZ. That's a great tablet, especially for the form factor.
It's brillant to watch movies too. I recently did transatlanctic flights and was happy with the battery drain: only around 15% per movie.
The battery drain is much more important when playing "hard" such as Real Racing 3, and you feel the tablet heat! But I guess this would be the same with all other tabs.
I consider buying it also but:
What about that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2419767
Does 2x Dualshock controllers work wireless via bluetooth?

IFA is over and you know whats coming this year.
I am using cm10.2. Next step will be a multiboot solution with Ubuntu Touch.
Don`t forget do buy a dock. This is very important->no more opening of the ports (this can really suck)
Color adjustments (white is not Paperwhite) problems at low brightness, bleeding and this torsion problem exist. @cm10.2 i never noticed the torsion problem and the bleeding is minimal.
CM is usable, but i think(know) the SonyUI and 4.2 are a great deal, too.
i would recommend it thou the home screen is still laggy with the 4.2 update
nova etc solve it but cant understand why sony could not fix it
one ques for fellow xtz owners - does appgratis load and open properly on ur xtz ?
Just arrived today ....
I just opened the box a couple hours ago. Fired it up and the battery was at 60%.
Can't put it down.
I was using an HP Touchpad with CM9. Big difference!
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tablet!
Tablet is still awesome. I just wish I had a case that was as nice to use as the Poetic Slimline but without the weight... So far none of the other cases are as nice.
Iv used mine for some time now, its a great tablet however I think something like the nexus 7, or Z ultra is more comfortable for me, Im trying to sell mine but here in India i dont know anyone who wants to buy it.

It's still the best case i've seen by far. Just that it basically weighs as much as the tablet.
FYI
If you are using a case without magnetic lock. you can insert a small magnet inside your case cover. magnetic sensor is located at the left side of the front camera( screen facing you ).
screen will automatically turned off when the cover is closed and it will turned on when you open it.
:good:
Poetic slimline from Amazon
I ordered the Poetic slimline from Amazon and I can confirm there is access to the charging port and the weight factor is no big deal.
Excellent case.

Glad to see so many like this tablet, I'm giving serious thought to buying one. I sold my Asus transformer tf300t, my last 2 android phones have been Samsung, my wife has a nexus 7 and I've never owned a Sony android device. The xperia z is probably the best looking tablet I've ever seen and the video reviews I have watched of it just make me want it more.

Okay.
If you want a 10.1" tablet I'll still recommend the Tablet Z.
If you're happy with a 7" Tablet go for the new Nexus 7.
Both tablets have the same processor, so you won't really notice a difference in performance.
As for the fact that the Nexus 7 runs stock Android without bloatware, it runs slightly faster than the XTZ, but not that much.

I ordered the Poetic slimline from Amazon and I can confirm there is access to the charging port and the weight factor is no big deal.
Excellent case.

Yeah, I heard that was the case with the current stock so I went ahead and got it!

So there was no successor presented at IFA, which makes me wonder why?
The Xperia Z was announced in January and released in February, now we already have the Z1.
The Xperia Tablet Z was announced in February and released in May, and although it's still a good device, it would have needed the some overhaul (things like IP58 instead of IP57, additional GSM voice communication, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 800 + Adreno 330, better camera).
I am especially curious because the Xperia Tablet Z is already on the remaining stock list at our mobile network operator and pretty much sold out.
I've never had a tablet before, but I'll get two for free when I renew two data plans at the beginning of next year, so I have some more time to wait and see, but if nothing was announced at IFA, when is the next possibility for a successor to the XTZ?

Need all you Nexus 10 owners feedback...

In your opinions...
1. will the next nexus 10 jump in price like the N7 did?
2. did 4.3 for YOU make any big differrences as far as lag? and battery life?
3. is it worth buying a used N 10 right now for around 315?
Thanks guys...
1. No. If anything the price will decrease because it's Asus.
2. I bought mine 2nd hand last month for £220 and 4.3 was just out by that time so I have no experience of 4.2. I can say that 4.3 is a great experience and super smooth. Battery is about 8 hours for me.
3. TBH I would wait till next month for the announcement before buying a 2nd hand N10. Wait to see what Asus have in store. They might even drop the price of the Samsung N10 like they did with the N4.

To answer your questions:
1. Seeing as the Nexus 10 is already a $400-$500 device and most high end Android tablets usually max out around this price point I don't believe the next Nexus 10 will jump in price.
2. In my own personal experience with 4.3, the overall experience feels slightly more fluid then 4.2.2 and my battery life has also improved on 4.3.
3. For this used Nexus 10 your buying is it the 16 GB or 32 GB version? That being said the Nexus 10 is still one of the best tablets on the market and still worth the money.

1 - NFI
2 - 4.3 made a huge impact to smoothness for me. While it was always quite quick, I used to still get stuttering when scrolling webpages etc, that is mostly gone now. I think its is mainly due to the implementation of TRIM in 4.3 which helped a lot. One leftover anoyance that is still around and can happen from time to time is the reloading of the UI when closing/switching apps
3 - I think it is the best tablet out there, it is still better than anything else out there almost a year after its release
I have a bit of an addiction to having the latest model. With my phone I sell my old one and buy the new one. I think the tablet market has got a lot better for app support but don't believe tablets are there yet to upgrade once the next model is released. I will be sitting on this device for another year unless there is a significant reason to upgrade. This is a great tablet and being a nexus line looking forward to the os (kitkat 4.4)

I saw the news of the new N10 coming out but going to be manufactured by ASUS. The current N10 is manufactured by Samsung. I read of problems and issues with tablets made by ASUS. The specs on the current N10 are still awesome. Because of these, I just purchased by N10, refurbished from Walmart. It is a great tablet.
