Hi guys, sorry if this has been discussed but I'm overwhelmed by everything here.
Basically, my friend did a favor for me by flashing my Samsung s2 and installed the Jellybean operating system. Now In the process of selling it I did a factory reset, I'm guessing I deleted some files and now it won't boot, just resets after the intro screen.
I don't know anything about how flashing works, so I don't know what I can install or do to fix this. All I know is I can enter "Ƨlockworkmod recovery v4.0.1.4" and there is no update.zip.
Also, I'm not certain but I think the phone doesn't read the microsd if that's relevant. Thanks!

Read the Intro & Download ODIN:
http://www.andromint.com/download-odin-latest-version/
Download the latest firmware (4.1.2) of your region from SamMobile
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Extract the odin file from the zip (DON'T BOTHER THE 2 PIT FILES INSIDE)
2. Put your device in download mode. To do so, press vol- down while pressing the power button and the home button.... you will see a different screen with a picture of an android... press volume- up to continue. Connect your phone to the pc
3. Open odin
4. You should see a yellow rectangle with COM:xx and saying ready. It means that your device is ready to be flashed!
5. Extract the files from the downloaded ROM
6. Go into the PDA section and take your .tar file which you have just extracted.
7. Ensure that re-partition at the left is UNCHECKED!!
8. Press the flash button
9. When it's finished, it should say that it's done with a green box and your device should reboot by itself
Let me know if there is any doubts or clarifications

Hey thank you so much! Seems pretty simple. I will have to wait till I'm not using a mac to try it out
What you need is to wipe dalvik along with factory reset.
Wanna go back to stock? Mobile Odin is your app of choice.
It's a good thing you're overwhelmed by all the info here at xda, it will make you search, read and learn.
@ksjd No need to spoon feed, you're not actually helping the guy.

Hey @gastonw ,
And im really new to this forum... I do know a lot of things about android.... im here to learn more and gain more experince... im really sorry for the solution I had written... I actually wanted to write many things but I directly skipped to flash a ROM which was a mistake. And I had written the instructions as he was newbie.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake I dint realise tht
any update?
@axl617 did you make any progress with your situation?
If wiping dalvik alone doesn't help,
I usually wipe data, wipe cache and dalvik, that resolves any bootloops.

I get what you did and why, i'm only saying that the best way for him to take care of his device is to read and learn about what is happening with his device, without the need to post a Q looking for a solution that's already out there.

****THIS POST IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS*****READ COMPLETELY BEFORE PROCEEDING*********************************************************************
I had to do this because I had flashed wrong thing in ODIN, and I had NO other choice....I did not do this by choice but this REALLY WORKS and I THINK ITS GREAT I was taking a RISK and I understood the consequences....I Could have ended up with a BRICKED PHONE, but that was not to be. I am VERY VERY happy with the results.
I WANT TO SAY THAT ALOT OF THE MATERIAL IN THIS POST WAS USED FROM LINKS AND POSTS FROM XDA WEBSITE THEY ARE A GREAT FORUM AND ANYONE DOING THIS SHOULD BECOME A MEMBER OF "XDA" AND "MOD A DROID"....THANK YOU XDA AND ALL THE DEV'S FOR ALL YOUR WORK ALL THE MATERIAL IN THIS POST I WILL PUT LINKS TO PAGES AT THE BOTTOM FROM PAGES USED "BUT I HAVE CHANGED SOME OF THE STEPS SO FOLLOW THIS POSTS INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS PROCEDURE"....TO FASCINATE YOUR MESMERIZE.
******************************READ ENTIRE POST BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE********************************************************
******************************READ ENTIRE POST BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE********************************************************
******************************READ ENTIRE POST BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE********************************************************
First -You NEED to download everything and have it on your PC ready to use !!! DO NOT START WITHOUT DOING THIS.
Second -You NEED to backup your contacts. DO NOT USE MY CONTACTS BACKUP !!! You will not have that app yet so there is no way to restore them. I used an app. called LOOKOUT from the market. You have to install on phone and sign-up on LOOKOUTS web sight and make sure you run a backup of contacts, as well you need to move any apps you want to your PC or SD card. I recommend the PC to leave space on SD Card....Have at least 1GB free on card to be plenty safe.
Ok heres the deal this may or may not be something you will want to do to your phone....DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK....This is what I did to turn my phone into a Fascinate even though I was a US Cellular Mesmerize. I WARN THIS WORKS BUT THERE ARE PROS AND CONS TO DOING THIS. To date there is NO, I REPEAT NO WAY to date to go back from this procedure to a MESMERIZE. Someone may have a way but I have not seen or found it yet. I do believe it is only a matter of time before the DEV'S come up with a restore and then you could go back to stock. SUMMARY= THERE IS NO WAY TO DATE TO REVERSE THIS PROCEDURE !!! DO AT OWN RISK !!!
First thing you need to do is download ROM MANAGER from the market and put the App on the SD Card for later install. Next Download this file here>>>>
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Fascinate Files/update.zip ---- to the ROOT of your SD Card it is a file called "UPDATE.ZIP" "DO NOT RENAME" put that on there and do not remove it you need it do a restore to access Clockwork later. This is where you need to have this located on SD. ---- /sdcard/update.zip.
Second you need to download...DI01 update with root and busybox here>>>>http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S7IFCKX0
Important:"DO NOT RENAME" and DO NOT put this on the root of your sdcard as /sdcard/update.zip. That's where clockwork mod lives. PUT IN FOLDER you name what ever on SD Card. You will need to go here later in the post to install this in step#12
/sdcard/"FOLDER YOU NAME"/update.zip.
Next thing you need the samsung drivers for windows for this to work. Those can be found on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779238 [this page has a good write up on how to down load and install.] or direct link BELOW>>>> Thank you DIRRK XDA member.
Download and Install Samsung Drivers to your WINDOWS PC this whole procedure was done on a WINDOWS 7 PC. WARNING: You need different drivers for mac/Linux and I do not know where to get them as I have only a WINDOWS PC.

**************************GET ODIN AND ALL FILES NEEDED BEFORE PROCEEDING DOWNLOAD TO PC FOR USE*********************************************
LINKS ATTACHED TO FILES BELOW.
Next download ODIN and run. Make sure ODIN sees your phone by putting phone in DOWNLOAD MODE by pulling battery LEAVE OUT. Run ODIN. HOLD VOL DOWN AND PLUG INTO PC with cable that came with phone, a yellow rectangle with id# means ODIN sees it----once this is connected DO NOT UNPLUG UNTIL ODIN IS FINISHED. If you do you will see a PC connected to a phone by a triangle this means you prematurely unplugged and you will need to re-flash whichever step failed to flash. It is only OK to unplug once a step is finished and Odin says reset in blue, but you do not need to you can load the next file and go. But I've got steps below so if you are here you didn't read entire post. CAREFUL Now follow step 4.1
ONLY FLASH ONE OF THESE AT A TIME. START WITH THE /SYSTEM ODIN AND WORK YOUR WAY DOWN THE LIST.---You do not just flash the pit file it is used with the other files like system, kernel, and recovery. ****FILES BELOW STEPS****READ ENTIRE POST BEFORE USING ODIN AND KNOW THE RISKS*************************************
************************ONCE YOU FLASH ANYTHING YOU CAN NOT GO BACK YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE**********************************************
************************ONCE YOU FLASH ANYTHING YOU CAN NOT GO BACK YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE**********************************************
Steps:
1. Pull battery from device
2. Open Odin on desktop
3. Hold volume down button and plug device into computer-This will place the device into download mode
4. Verify device shows up in Odin ---This should be a yellow rectangle with id #----As well the phone will also say download mode with a yellow triangle on it
4.1: Select PIT button
4.2: Select PIT file downloaded from this post and load it into Odin. (I Never loaded the pit file when I did this in Odin and worked fine for me but from what I understand it is good practice to do so to Quote a post ---"You need to load the pit file into Odin---Missing these steps usually results in major FC hell issues." Thanks PHOENIXPATH senior member XDA
4.1: To Flash the "Stock-i500-VZW-System.tar.md5" file you,
5. Click "PDA" button in Odin ---MAKE SURE YOU ONLY USE PDA "DO NOT USE PHONE" YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
6. Select "Stock-i500-VZW-System.tar.md5" from where you downloaded it
7. Click "Start" This will reboot your phone when complete. This flashes both the kernel and the recovery partition to enable you to flash update.zips signed with test keys. ---When done ODIN should say reset leave pit alone and load next file of the three needed to be flashed.(YOU MAY NEED TO UNPLUG and REDO STEPS 1-4 AGAIN)and jump/proceed to step#8 and continue on.
8. Flash "Stock-i500-VZW-Kernel.tar.md5" when done says reset move to next step.
8.1 Flash "Stock-i500-VZW-Recovery.tar.md5" when done says reset move to next step.
9. Flash "CWMrecovery.tar" ----THANK YOU JT1134 Senior member XDA
10. Replace the battery and Boot in to Recovery= HOLD VOL UP + VOL DOWN same time and PRESS POWER, all three need to be pushed to enter recovery.
11. In recovery navigate UP=vol. up/ DOWN=vol. down /ENTER=home key----You need to select "apply sdcard:UPDATE.ZIP" on ROOT of SD Card to enter the next recovery screen.
12.In this recovery "CLOCKWORK RECOVERY" navigation is different UP/DOWN=SAME but ENTER=power key---you need to navigate to the "ADVANCED" and then apply "WIPE DALVIK CACHE" when done select "REBOOT RECOVERY" (brings you to stock recovery) navigate to "WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET" once done go to "APPLY SDCARD UPDATE.ZIP" then "INSTALL ZIP FROM SD CARD" once there select "CHOOSE ZIP FROM SD CARD" navigate to the folder "YOU GAVE A NAME TO" and inside is the 2nd "UPDATE.ZIP" you put there and select it...wait until it is finnished...once done.."GO BACK"and"GO BACK AGAIN" then select "REBOOT SYSTEM NOW"
13. Enjoy your stock Fascinate phone with DI01 update and root and busybox . You still will have phone call ability but a couple of apps like contacts backup and vcast are "Verizon" and we at US Cellular can not use. But once you install custom ROMS in Rom Manager you will be able to get roms with them removed or get apps to shut down/freeze them and sub. them out.
Alot of the ROMS have apps taken from the MESMERIZE so this is not really an issue at least not to me.
INSTALL ROM MANAGER FROM SD CARD OR LOAD TO PHONE FROM PC AND INSTALL ON PHONE......
NOW GO INTO ROM MANAGER AND "BACKUP CURRENT ROM" so any changes made from here you can get back to this point.....once done you can NOW LOAD CUSTOM ROMS,KERNELS AND ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF YOUR "FASCINATED-MESMERIZE"
Buy the latest PRO version of ROM MANAGER and use to upgrade kernels thru clockwork or load roms in rom manager......
These are the files to put in ODIN PDA Flashing one at a time with the PIT file. ONLY USE PIT AND PDA......You have been warned again. PS-NEVER DUMP IN ODIN,and do not check anything but PDA AND PIT...there are things checked in ODIN when it loads leave them alone.
Download: "To PC for use in ODIN before you begin"
Odin: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin Files/Odin3 v1.3.exe -This is program to use to flash.
Odin Restore file for system: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin Files/Stock-i500-VZW-System.tar.md5 -----THIS IS FIRST.
Odin Restore file for kernel: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin Files/Stock-i500-VZW-Kernel.tar.md5 -----THIS IS SECOND.
Odin Restore file for recovery: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin Files/Stock-i500-VZW-Recovery.tar.md5 ----THIS IS THIRD.---this is just to be safe
Odin Clockwork recovery file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/CWMrecovery.tar ------THIS IS FOURTH ONE I FLASHED.
PIT file for use in Odin Restores: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/458252/Odin Files/Stock-i500-VZW-pit.pit ----THIS IS PIT TO USE "WITH" ABOVE FILES.

Correct, No Way of FLashing ROM MANAGER so you can apply the first update.zip
You Can Flash but when you apply the update to a MESMERIZE you get E:signature verify fail -hence No Clockwork, NO Roms. No Way to Customize

Yea, was worried origionally that I was screwed but its a draw/Im happy its only a matter of time before the Fasinate users will be able to go stock mesmerize because this SHOULD?see no reason why not, go both ways.
I know that Sprint is doing an I-500 can we go there too, at least for apps and features. I wonder? And what about the 4G...USC and VZW are 3G would switching/Moding give any advantages I think NOT but still wonder how much of that speed is controled by phone software. I really think its all the network but not 100% sure.
Post above looks interesting the one for Koush's site am checking it out now....Thanks

So i have clockwork working on my mesmerize and running jts super clean but does this allow you to use all facinate roms and kernels on the mesmerize? if so i wanna try this
so if i did this and i used clockwork to perform a backup before i did this could i possibly just restore that backup and have it be a mesmerize again?
and it was said there are pros and cons of doing this? the pros are great but what are the cons besides not being able to go back to stock mesmerize????

Hey all,
i've read through many treads on how to do this but im getting confused as different threads say different things and there is info i think i am missing so i was wondering if you could help me as im noobing out and im confused as hell now. so basicly i have a stock standard Galaxy S2 with the Australian Vodafone ROM/OS/ whatever its called. Model is GT-I9100T running 2.3.5. so with all the info i have been reading the things that have confused me the most are
What version of kernel to use as there seem to be like 50 billion (may be exaggerating)
What is the "modem" that gets mentioned every so often and if i need it what one do i get?
How to use the Clockwork mod and how do i install it because i think the new ROM i want to install is the Cyanogen mod and it made me install a different root and the wiki for it was unclear when it came to the end of installing it
and then how do i install the Cyanogen Mod once i have done the rom.
i know there is a fair bit of info out there but all the threads i read are either incomplete or im just well....... yeah. Help would be amazing for this as the Vodafone OS is starting to annoy the hell out of me!
Thanks heaps!
To root your phone, go to this thread & find the kernel that matches with the baseband details in settings/about phone. Flash this kernel in the PDA section of Odin (DL link also found in this thread).
This will also install CW Recovery on your phone.
No need to go changing modems unless you have problems with coverage/data and you're sure this isn't a Vodafone coverage/capacity issue in your area.
To install Cyanogen, refer to the thread devoted to it in the development section of the board. Follow any installation instructions to the letter (there's a hint right there).
Bottom line, if you're confused/scared/not confident about rooting your phone or flashing a custom rom/kernel, don't until you are confident about it. Whilst these processes are relatively simple if you follow the instructions, if you skip things and don't do your homework first (there are no shortcuts, read, read some more, and keep reading until your eyes bleed), you run the risk of soft bricking your shiny new toy at best (and having to live without it until you fix it), or hard bricking it at worst, resulting in you having to pay Samsung to fix it.
Every rom or kernel I've come across on here has had absolutely simple installation instructions normally in the first post of the thread.

ok sooo, baseband version is I9100TDUKJ1 thus following what i read i downloaded "CF-Root-SGS2_XW_LUX_KJ1-v5.0-CWM5" from the site
OK. Two ticks for that info.
So. You need to unzip the tar file from the zip you initially downloaded. Do not further unpack this. It must be the tar file you flash in Odin.
Fire up Odin. connect a USB cable to your phone, then plug it into a USB port. You must have 0:[port number] in the first panel in Odin directly under ID:COM on the left hand side in yellow. Keep trying different USB ports until you get this. This indicates Odin recognises your phone.
If it doesn't, you need to download Kies so you have drivers installed. If you do need to do this, make sure you kill Kies in task manager as Odin won't work with Kies running. We're only after the drivers.
On the other hand, if Odin recognises your phone as per the 2nd paragraph, click on PDA & navigate to where you have the unpacked CFRoot tar file & select it. From here, click on start & let Odin do it's thing. If it's successful it will show pass highlighted in green in that panel under ID:COM on the left hand side & the phone will reboot. Pull the USB cable & your phone should now be rooted.
To get rid of the yellow warning triangle when it boots, get a jig from eBay (search for Samsung Galaxy S2 jig or similar), they only cost a few bucks & can be handy if you ever need to return the phone for warranty service. There is another method in the CFRoot kernel thread to get rid of the triangle, but I prefer the jig.

There is another method in the CFRoot kernel thread to get rid of the triangle, but I prefer the jig.

ok so when i do this when its booted in normal mode it will appear in odin and be in the left box when i get it into download mode (start it holding vol down home) it wont show up in odin, does that mean im doing it wrong OR i am meant to do this in normal mode?
If you'd read the CFRoot thread you'd know the answer to this question.
6th instruction/bullet point - "Put your phone in download mode" :-/

yeah thats why im confused because when i do it in download mode it wont pick up the phone, does that mean im missing kies drivers? coz i can only get the phone to show up in odin when its in norm mode
ok so removed then reinstalled the drivers and was able to pick it and the install worked =D woot
So you got pass in Odin and you get the yellow warning triangle when the phone boots ? To check you have root (you should have), get Root Check Basic from the Market if you want to be absolutely sure.
Also if you boot into recovery mode (volume up/home/power buttons held simultaneously when the phone is switched off), you should get CW Recovery.
If you install Ti backup or any other app that requires root, if these work then you can be sure the phone is rooted OK.

ok so did that and then was able to install the new ROM, it froze for a bit and i thought that i bricked it but it works and its soooo much faster! thanks for the help only thing now is to fix the yellow triangle on startup! THANKS SO MUCH!
No worries Get a jig to get rid of the triangle/reset the flash counter & you'll be set. If you find the jig doesn't work, you're using firmware with the new "locked" bootloader. If this happens, flash the old bootloader from this thread (there's a paragraph in bold red text about halfway down & a link to download it) in the PDA section of Odin & the jig should work.
So far as installing other roms/kernels go, as long as you follow the instructions to the letter (some require flashing the rom twice in a row without wiping like CM for example), you shouldn't have too many problems/shouldn't brick it.
First thing you should do now that you've rooted it/installed another rom is to make a Nandroid backup in CW Recovery, then you can get something like Titanium Pro & backup your apps & so on. Good practice is to make a Nandroid backup before your flash a new rom/kernel, that way if anything goes wrong, you can restore your previous setup in a matter of minutes with no harm done.
Also, get Hellcat's kTool from the Market & backup your EFS details ASAP. Keep a copy of on your external SD card (if you have one) and also keep a copy on your PC/external drive/or a CD/DVD/USB drive. These basically contain the IMEI of your phone & allow it to work with the network. Occasionally people find the EFS details get fried for various reasons and this can mean your phone no longer works with your network provider. Obviously if you have a backup and this happens, you can restore it.

However I didnt like it, so I flashed back to sgh-i777 firmware. However, when I turn the phone on it still says that its a gt-i900, but when I go into the phone settings it says that the model number is an sgh-i77...Any Ideas how to fix this?
Could it be that I accidently installed the i900 bootloader?
Yes I did read the stickys and I admit I had no Idea on what i was doing, but I believe learning comes from these trial errors like I just presented to you guys.
I boot the screen says i900, I gen no triangle. After everything is booted and i get to the phone- I go to phone info in settings and the phone model is an sgh-i777? is this normal??? cause in the boot menu it says its an international version.
you may have to use a usb jig to get it off. that is what works for me
How do you accidentally flash something on these phones?? The CWM that came with Entropys kernel makes accidents nearly impossible. Nearly.

Alright, I'm going to assume your phone boots atleast. You probably see a different boot screen with a yellow triangle and i9100 correct? If so, do not worry all is not lost. You have a microSD card right? Go over to the development forum here and find a ROM you like. I use the MIUI build (purely personal preference), UnNamed is another popular build that many members here use. Download the zip file from the thread and copy it to the microSD card (do NOT extract it, leave as a .zip file).
Put the SD card back into your phone and hold down the vol up, vol down and power keys untill CWM (a text based, bios like thing) comes up. From here use the arrow keys to navigate to wipe data, press the power button to select and confirm. Then go back to the main menu and navigate to "install zip from external SD". Find your .zip file and install.
That will get you a working phone. Search the forum for how to remove the yellow triangle if you want, it is a non-issue, just a leftover from Odin.
EDIT: After re-reading your post it sounds like you got it working again, the yellow triangle thing bootscreen is not an issue at all, removing it is a little advanced but can be done. If you're just getting your feet wet I wouldn't advise changing it untill you have flashed a few roms and found one you are going to stick with.
I think he is just confused by the triangle warning screen, and that the rom works fine. sounds to me like thats all it is, anyway.
edit: if you don't have the warning triangle and it says gt-i9100 on the boot screen, fire up odin and flash this.

unzip and put the .tar file in the PDA slot. I'm assuming you know how to use Odin (Maybe assuming too much )

Hi!
Yesterday i thought: "Hey! It would be a great idea to root my phone!", sadly I had no idea what I was doing...
So, I followed this guide on cnet, didn't realised that the guide was about a year old..
So basically, i can get 2 screens. When I turn it on, I get Samsung Galaxy SII's logo. Nothing more, nothing less. And it stays that way. Doesn't load anything besides from that...
Then when I press Vol Up + Home + Power, I get a screen with 4 options:
1. Reboot system now Does no good, results in the bootup "Samsung logo"..
2. Apply opdate from sdcard Haven't got an sdcard in the device..
3. Wipe data/factory reset Does nothing except rebooting the device, and then comes the "Samsung logo"
4. Wipe cache partition Does nothing.
I can't restore it from "Wipe data/factory reset", all it does is reboot the phone. The other options doesn't change a thing either.. Can someone please help me? Or atleast link to a thread with a solution(so far I haven't been able to find any..)?
Thank you so much! And I'm sorry if this thread violates any guidelines.
If you had no idea how you root why did you attempt? That is risk.
If you follow the guides on this very forum they will help you.

You just need to flash a kernel compatible with your firmware version via Odin.
Please answer these question:
1.What's the model no of your phone?
2. Is your phone on ICS or gingerbread before the problem started?
Swyped from my Galaxy SII
Just be glad you didn't hard brick your device. Aslong as you can see the Samsung Galaxy screen at start up, you can still fix whatever problem you're having. Have a good look on the forum (I would have tried to find you the appropriate links, but it's a big section the SII one lol)
Good luck and take your time with these things.
Thanks for the quick replies!

That's a soft brick , not a hard brick
Get into download mode ( volume down + home + power till u see the samsung logo , as soon as u see it , release the combination)
Download odin3 v1.85
Download samsung drivers
Download siyah kernel http://www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v3.0/Siyah-v3.3.3d.tar and flash via odin ( insert the file using PDA button in odin) after that put a rom.zip on ur ext sdcard and flash it via recovery mode using install zip from sdcard in recovery
OR just download litening rom 6.1 from here http://db.tt/5k6MRAZH ( it is gingerbread 2.3.6 and already rooted .. Installing siyah will root ur phone automatically too )
I dont think the tutorial on cnet has got any flaws.
I just rooted my phone using same tutorial.
Never be in a hurry. With XDA u need nt worry .
lol I was a noob, just installed CM9 today so feeling confident.
Thanks for all your help! I got it working following Jokesy's and Tefanym's help, big thanks!
Will definitely look closer at what guides i will follow now

Heyyy, buddy just relax...
1. Go download mode (odin mode) - [((Using three combos, if not from recovery mode to download or using jig))]
2. Flash stock rom I9100XWLPX (4.0.4) using ODIN software..
3. Then again in download mode flash custom kernel for root.. Flash Siyah kernel for touch and dual boot... better support
4. Then you can download install new roms in siyah kernel recovery BUT BEFORE FLASHING WIPE DATA/DALVC CAHCE..
Its good practice wiping data because it only clear installed apps and apps data that's it....
It just minor software reason are simple you might download broken or might have flashed rom without wiping or whatever be the case it fails to boot thats it....
Hi im in need of some help. I have recently bought a Samsung s2. I have noticed that it is not up to the current version. But when i go into kies i get a message in the main info section that says .............. Im not sure how i can update it. My phone is from hong kong and has 2 apps installed on it called XDA and superuser. Both of which i can not uninstall. Not sure if that has something to do with it. I am completely new to all this and have no idea of what i need to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you buy your phone second hand??
Well If you have superuser... then your phone might be rooted, install terminal emulator and type "su" in it to check or just install any app which needs root and see if the app works after giving superuser permission...
If your phone is rooted... then you have to unroot it before you update to stock via kies...
For unrooting, follow this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW6x29ug5Ms&desktop_uri=/watch?v=tW6x29ug5Ms&gl=GB

Super user
I have just downloaded android terminal emulator when i typed in su a pop up window appeared and asked for permission from superuser... What does that mean? Where can i find wanamlite ROM? Thankyou for you help.
Mostly your phone is rooted then...that popup that appeared was superuser asking for your permission to give it root access..
Well...firstly coz your phone is rooted...you can flash(install) any custom ROM you want on your phone... Its your choice..
You can get the ROMs here in the android development section of SGS2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1204
Else for wanamlite:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436817

How do i perform a wipe? It recommends you to perform one but i cant find anywhere that 1. explains how to do it and 2. does it matter that my phone is only on baseband version 2.something?
You need to learn 'the basics'.
To do a wipe/factory reset; boot into recovery mode - Turn phone off. Hold home/volume up & power buttons. The rest should be self explanatory from there (If it isn't, you seriously do not want to be messing with your phone in the first place. There's a fair chance you'll break it if you persist).
Yeah hah. My phone came like this. Is there any way that i can unroot my phone?
Yes. Flash a stock rom in Odin. Guides on how to do it in that link I gave you, get the stock rom from Samfirmware. This will overwrite your existing rooted kernel/'unroot' the phone.
Easy way
Go into settings -> privacy -> restore to factory defaults.
Bit harder
Turn off you phone, push and hold volume up + home + power button (press simultaneously) till <3e> recovery menu shows up, and then with help of vol up/vol down keys/power to select, use wipe data command.
Thank you. Very much.

Just copy your data and restore phone to defaults. Root access will be destroyed!
Read my previous post
I told you how to do it in my first post, and Mar10o told you how to do it in his. Go back, and read. Very carefully/slowly. Can't make it any simpler than that other than to fly there & do it for you (which you don't have enough money for).

If you really don't want to get confused and stuff...just flash stock ROM using Odin...that's the best solution I've seen so far...

Well i suppose you're new to this a way too much...so just flash stock ROM via PC(odin) and enjoy the phone, until you get bored and want some mods in it..
I'll recommend you to flash the stock ROM coz factory resetting the phone won't change your kernel...
Also its best to download the stock ROM of your count...you can go on http://www.sammobile.com register there, and download the particular ROM file according to your country (after doing this you won't even need to update via kies...you'll be getting the best official update samsung has to offer you for your country)....
If you download the Stock ROM for your phone from above...repeat the exact same steps below, just remember to use the download file from sammobile instead of the one given...
Restoring stock firmware to your phone
Before you attempt to do any of the steps outlined below, make sure that Samsung's Kies software is not running on your machine. Kies has an unfortunate tendency to cause problems when Odin is attempting to communicate with your device, so ensure it is either disabled or uninstalled entirely. It's also worth noting that following the steps outlined below could wipe your handset, so be sure to back up anything you don't want to lose, just in case.
Once you've got everything set up correctly, completely switch off your phone. Once it's off, press the volume down button, home button and power button together. Use the volume up key to place the phone in Download Mode and you're ready to flash that lovely stock firmware to your device. Connect your phone to your computer using a standard micro-USB cable. If you get a message informing you that your phone hasn't been installed correctly, you'll need to grab those Samsung drivers .
Open up Odin and click the 'PDA' button. Find the official 4.0.3 firmware you downloaded to your computer moments previously and select it. Note that this file has been compressed, so you may need to install WinRAR to extract it before loading into Odin. . Having selected your extracted firmware in Odin, ensure that only the 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' boxes are ticked in Odin's user interface, then click start.
Odin will work its magic and flash the official firmware to your device. Once it's finished, your phone will reboot automatically, and you'll be the proud owner of a Galaxy S2 with stock (and all-above-board) Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
If you get any FC's factory reset your phone...
And remember when we say "wipe" it means format...
Idk whether JB is available for you there or not...but after this kies should work just fine for you...
Sorry for spinning your head and involving you in custom ROMs..i should've posted this earlier..
Press Thanx if I helped...
