[Q] Need help flashing to stock - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I installed the android update while rooted, I tried to flash back to stock. odin failed now im stuck on a screen that says firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again.
what do I do? how can I get back to stock? SCH i545

anyone? odin fails every time when trying to flash the stock firmware.

Once you install the me7 ota you cant go back to mdk. If you didnt protect root before installing via voodoo rootkeeper youre going to lose root as well. If you flash the me7 update through odin you should be good to go. This issue has been covered a dozen times or more. Some searching and browsing goes a long way.

[Q] Tried multiple ways to Flash to stock and Failed ( input needed )

I think ive have tried every possible way to flash used every usb port and still cannot get my phone to flash on odin. Does anyone have any suggestions.
what ive done so far:
Used Odin3Excutionv1.81 (flashes SCH-I45 MDK Stock Restore)
Failed
Used Odin3Excution v1.81( flashes SCH-I545 MDK Kernel)
Successful
Used Odin 3.07v
Flashed Modem
Flashed Recovery
Flashed Kernel
These had to be run through odin a couple times before it would flash or pass.
Then after I tried to flash Stock Restore and that fails.
Im all out of options have, and have put many hours into getting nowwhere please if someone has any suggestions I would love to think that this isnt a 700 dollar paper i have sitting here.
When booting up I get a message that says," Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.(Tried that also)

not sure where i got stuck

im stuck on download mode since i didnt realize that i was on ME7 update and im not sure ifi can just simply go ahead and odin back to stock and just root it? is that possible and do i just need the stock odin tar to flash?
and im assuming i cant do it on windows 8 either right?
Im guessing you tried flashing a custom recovery. if you did thats why youre stuck. Someone posted links to stock recoveries so you could go that route but I cant find it. If you cant either you can odin back to stock and re root. Yes you can do it on windows 8. Theres a short guide on using odin where you get the stock files. All you need is odin, the proper drivers installed, and the stock image.

well i thought i found the stock recovery stuff here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325&highlight=me7+stock
but odin keeps saying it failed
maybe ill do it this way http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
I dont know if theres a specific link there but thats just the thread for the rooting process.
Edit:
Yep you can go that route. You cant use custom recovery on me7 (at the moment) so if you try flashing one again youll end up right where youre at now.

You need to Odin the factory me7 recovery on to your device. That or a full me7 Odin package are the only fixes.

[Q] Firmware upgrade encountered an issue after trying to Flash back to stock

I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 ME7 build that has been rooted with Safestrap and working fine. Today I wanted to unroot it, so I used Odin v. 3.07 to flash this file: I545VRUAME7_I545VZWAME7_I545VRUAME7_HOME.tar.md5. This failed in Odin (attached is screenshot of Odin dialog). I took out the battery and tried to turn the phone back on, and got the download screen with the message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.". Unfortunately, I did all of this before uninstalling safestrap and I don't know if that's the issue. I can still get into Odin mode, but don't know what to do from here. Please help! Thanks!
U can't flash through Odin in me7 that's the whole reason safestrap is on our phones to begin with

So, is there any way to fix this?
Have you tried the "no-wipe" recovery image? I believe there is one available for your build.

The image I tried to flash via Odin was no-wipe, but I don't know how to flash it if I shouldn't use Odin...Are there any options for me to get my phone functional again??

SOLVED: I don't know what I did differently, but after trying for the millionth time, I got past Odin mode and my phone rebooted.

Soft Bricked (tried everything)

I installed a rom, got into a bootloop that wasn't working. I attempted to use odin to flash to factory, but now I get the "firmware upgrade issue" screen when powering on or recovery mode. I can get into download mode, but I keep getting fail when I try to get back to stock. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it since I just got my note yesterday and want to get it working again (even on stock.)
note: I read for at least 2 hours and tried almost everything. My drivers are installed. New usb cord/port. Reboot computer etc.

Need more info to be able to help....what firmware were you are before you flashed via Odin? We you rooted? Did you have custom recovery installed? What firmware version did you attempt to flash with Odin?
I was on the stock 4.3 firmware, rooted the phone via odin, everything went smoothly. Then I downloaded a rom for sprint note 3, when I rebooted (cleared cache and factory wipe) the samsung logo just kept popping up and rebooting. I was using clockworkmod, but now when I try to access it I just get the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue." ODIN just keeps failing no matter what I try. I am trying the latest N900P stock firmware.
is it time to throw in the towel and see if Asurion can get it replaced? or at this point is it fixable?

I realized that I am an idiot and was using a different model number and downloaded MJ4, worked like a charm. But now I want to get to the root of the issue (pun intended.) Why did the rom I used start the bootloop that was not fixed by clearing the cache and factory wipe? I found it right here on the sprint note 3 section of XDA. It was the MINIMUS rom.

[Q] Stuck in Kies mode

I was using Blackbox. I installed it incorrectly. No root or safe strap. no stock recovery either, lots of force closes. Also the boot sound was inappropriate. So I tried downgrading back to 4.3 so I could get back to 4.4 and stay rooted. Something went wrong in the process. Now it won't boot. Now when I turn the phone on, it says i need to open up Kies. I can still get into download mode though Any ideas?
If you can get into download mode all you need to do is grab odin and a copy of the NC5 stock ROM and reload. I've had to do that twice for stupid mistakes I've made rooting and modifying 4.4.2. Don't forget to towelroot after you're done loading the ROM.
I used a pit file for an mk2 keep data downgrade. Also, for an AP file it says it needs to be an xml file. The nc5 file isn't xml.. Feels like I am missing something.
I'm not sure what I did to get to the state my phone was in. I am trying to keep the mk2 bootloader, but I am getting a fail when it tries to write the cache file.
You will probably have to do the wipe version since you will be coming from a different rom other than stock

I have been in a similar state. I can get back to stock using Gigilies full downgrade file but I can't use the full wipe or keep data wipe method. Odin fails at aboot.
You should be able to downgrade even if it says you need to use Kies. Pull the battery, do like you are going into download mode, it will still say you need kies but Odin will recognize your phone (you are in download mode as far as Odin knows). Flash Gigilies full downgrade file (if you used his method to upgrade. If you didn't it still might be worth a try) and you should be stock 4.3 You might have to flash his nc2 to mk2 boot tar file or his nc5 to mk2 boot tar file first. Try that if the full downgrade doesn't work.
I managed to downgrade back to 4.3, using surge's method. I rerooted 4.3 and updated using surge's method and got an error 7 on the phone, not odin. It boot looped after. So I downgraded back 4.3 (surge)
Strange that method worked the first the time but not now

Try Gigilie's. You just flash one file to either upgrade or downgrade. Per his method you use Safestrap 3.72, install a 4.4.2 rom, boot into download mode via safestrap, flash his file via odin, and let it boot up into your rom. From there you can install 4.4.2 roms but need to flash the supersu file and a wifi module fix file after each install. You then can go back and forth from 4.3 to 4.4.2 by flashing a downgrade boot file or upgrade boot file. Might be worth a shot.
Error 7 appears to be caused by a rom that is not compatible with your phone. Almost like the upgrade didn't take. If you want to use Gigilie's method I would do a full downgrade (via his method), reroot, install safestrap 3.72. install a 4.4.2 rom and follow the instructions above about doing a full upgrade.

Are you suggesting I update my boot loader to nc5 from mk2?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
Not at all. You can, however, run 4.4.2 Roms via Gigilies method and be able to upgrade and downgrade to run either 4.3 or 4.4.2 Roms much as apparently you were doing before and without actually upgrading.
Nc2 seems to work better for me but do nc5 if you like

I'm talking about Gigilies method and I'm going by his comments that the nc2 method seems to work better. You can still run nc5 roms from it if I am not mistaken.
